And, I was very impressed with how well the shop was put together with skateboard planks and art...with everything very evenly and meticulously spaced out. LOL! Simon cut my hair and did a great job. He is personable and friendly and has a great story. He took his time, got input from me about what I wanted, and delivered exactly that. We started talking about old punk bands and he played some of his band's music which was cool. (Sounded great, I'll definitely check them out!) With all of that and a skilled and friendly Barber, I thought the price made sense. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.... I will definitely be going back before I leave and will recommend the shop to my colleagues. In fact, I recommend Off the Map to everyone...

This is my first ever review, and let me just say this has definitely been my worst haircut…read moreexperience ever. No exaggeration at all. Me and my boy did a walk in on Saturday the 21st. The barber told us to sing up and be back at 3:30pm. Since there was someone else waiting. No problem, we get back, now we have to wait another 30 minutes for him to finish a kids cut that was already waiting there when we go there. It's my turn, I ask for a low taper with a trim on top and a line up. I knew this guy was cutting me terribly as soon as his clippers touched my hair. Anyways I'm sitting there upset because I know my cut is going to be messed up. I can't even see myself in the mirror since he has me pointed out facing away from it. While he was trimming my beard, he thought it would be a good idea to pop my pimple on my cheek. WTF!! His hands weren't even clean from the last guy he cut. Before my cut was finished, he tried lining me up. He showed me at the end, and man was it not straight. I asked him to fix it, he tried to one time,but you know what this guy did, instead of showing me how he fixed what I saw unfit,he took the apron off of me and said thank you. Didn't give me a mirror to check if he fixed it or anything, just moved on to the next person. His blend was inexistent on the sides, the top was uneven, the cut all around looked ugly. Hey, you know I thought it was just a bad experience so what I'll just move on and never return. Today is 2 days after the cut. I have a bad haircut, but guess what, I also have a skin infection because this dude didn't know how to clean his tools. While talking to me he told me about how he's been cutting for so long, and that he used to cut in prison. I didn't know that this barbershop was giving prison quality haircuts for $35 dollars. I understand he had places to be, but it's not my fault he decided to cut my hair. He ever added one more guy after me and my friend. He decided to rush my haircut and mess me up. Unprofessional, never going back.

Rocky's an old time barber and been in business a long time. Recommended by my wife's family, Rocky is definitely old school. Gave me a true "Buddha Head" crew cut which will let me get a lot of days out of this buzz. He really liked my story of being from ID now, after bailing out of 30 years in Humboldt County, and moving to a free state. One of the other guys waiting for a hair job wanted to know what I meant by a "free state?" My opening for letting it all hang out: 1) we can carry a gun with no permit, concealed, 2) no one is banning straws, 3) we don't get charged a dime for a damn grocery sack, 4) we don't have no stinking sanctuary cities, 5) and a dozen other things. He also liked my description of being a retired logging engineer, "I liked my forests horizontal". So all in all, a neat barber and shop.

Munwela has a clean and nice shop. She is mostly nice when she's not ranting about politics. But…read moreshe's not the best at cutting hair. Although she does try to accommodate. She does or did charge probably the least amount for a haircut in the local area, which is unfortunately reflected in her lack of ability. She has cut my hair several times and each haircut was progressively worse.
