We've come to the Monterey Bay Area several times but this was our first time exploring this beautiful park and beach! It was so clean and well maintained, and had amazing views. It's definitely going to be on our list to visit again. We didn't have problems finding parking but it was a weekday. I imagine this area gets pretty crowded on the weekends. Bring a picnic and some chairs and spend a couple hours just taking it all in! read more

Beautiful park with beautiful views. Lots of park benches. There are also plenty of BBQ grills and picnic tables. The park is very clean. There is a bike trail and a pedestrian trail. Lots of rocks to climb on. Lots of squirrels too and they are very people friendly. A squirrel actually climbed onto my friends leg. Plenty of street parking and a parking lot too. This was a super cute park! We walked and climbed all over the rocks on our way to the point of the park and once we got there it was a very pretty overlook to the water. There were beautiful houses across the street ant beautiful views. Just be careful of the ground squirrels. They are very tame and come right up to you looking for food. Don't feed them! read more

A great place for a stroll or picnic. It's quiet and low-key. There is a trail along the water. People in the neighborhood are walking their dogs. There are a number of benches on the trail for a picnic or for sitting there to watch the seals. There's a small beach area, but the rest of it is mostly rocky. If you want a big sandy beach, you should go to Carmel (a beautiful beach but is not as tranquil). Practical tips: It's easy to park on the street. Great little spot to hang out. Came here with my boyfriend twice and we've always found it romantic and relaxing. Lots of things to do around here and the watching the sunset is always my favorite part. Wear some comfortable shoes because last time I wore flip flops and it made it difficult to climb the rocks. I don't know if I would come here to lay out on the beach given the fact that the actual beach part is small and easily gets crowded, however it's got a great view! While we were there a wedding ceremony was just finishing which seemed fitting given the name of the park. Climb the rocks. You gotta climb the rocks. Makes for great photos and the view is worth it. You can climb it in flip flops but make sure you balance is decent. If tide pools and ocean-y critters are your thing then this is also a good spot for that. It's a fun way for kids to learn and be less afraid about what may be swimming along side them. Parking can be tricky but if you find a spot of the street then consider yourself lucky!! If you get hungry there is the typical beach food, hot dogs, hamburgers etc, but there's also a quaint little cafe if you want something a little more formal. read more

Will forever be my favorite spot in Monterey. Best kept secret! I love the coves because it makes it safer to swim and very enjoyable. Theres a little spot I go to to stay away from the crowds. I'll spend all day here and just soak it all in. I love that they have public bathrooms, a volley ball court, bbq pits, adventures by the sea, bike rentals, a small cafe, a shake with food, and large grass area for kids to play. It's perfect for everyone. Those who like to just admire the beach to those who want to take a stroll and people watch. Parking is limited to two hours but there are some spots you can stay longer. I've honestly have never gotten a ticket here, but it's really up to you to take your chances. read more

Happen to stumble here while riding a 4 wheel surrey bike we rented at Cannery Row. This place is small with a great beach area perfect for kids to play at. There is a nice rock area as well that is pretty easy to climb. Great views. There is a food spot that serves ice cream and easy ball park food. There is also a cafe there. You can easily spend anywhere between two hours to a whole day at Lovers Point Park, depending on what you want to do. The park/beaches are very well maintained and the ocean is the most blue and clear I've ever seen outside of Hawaii. There is one main trail with lots of off-shoots of little trails that take you to lookout points or down to the tide pools. I took my dog down to one of the little coves to dog and play in the water and he LOVED it. Beautiful location for a bit of a breather and sight seeing in the Monterey area. It's really close to downtown and near a few restaurants and attractions. It's always nice to simple lay back and enjoy the ocean for its majestic beauty and breath it all in. You're definitely able to do that here without a doubt. Lovers Point is one of the most beautiful spots in California. It's fun to think of it in romantic terms; but it was actually named Lovers of Jesus Point by the religious sect that settled the area. It was a gated community and anyone entering the gate had to remove their side arms and deposit them for pick-up upon leaving. How cool is that! The Point is at one end of a magnificent bike trail that goes down the coastline for many miles... a beautiful place to walk or bike. But be aware that you cannot ride your bikes in the actual Lovers Point area. You will find there a grassy park, perfect for picnicking, paths overlooking the majestic coast and a rocky outcrop to easily climb for a higher view. From Lovers Point you can walk down to an exquisite, sandy beach cove which looks like something out of a dream. Parking is free on the street for three hours. The weather is typically cool and overcast in the morning with sun in the afternoon. read more

We have been stopping and enjoying this park since we started coming to Monterey. There is a rock out cropping close to the point that makes it interesting and beautiful. There are places to get refreshments and the bathrooms are open to the public and clean. There is a walk next to the park that follows the water and will end up going down to the Aquarium, but we enjoy walking then sitting along the many benches that line the walkway. To me this is a must to anyone who visits Monterey. read more

A must stop if you're in the Monterey area. Bring warm clothing. Was just there this month (July), and it was quite chilly and windy in the 60s. Very overcast as well. Parking can be very difficult to find. We were able to find a spot (free) along the sidewalk on the main road. Lots of grassy areas to sit for a picnic. Limited picnic tables and BBQ grills available, but if you go early in the morning for your event/party, I imagine it would be easy to secure a spot for family/friends. Across from the beach area are a few Inns/Hotels which can be pricey. I checked one of the inns and it was about $400+ per night. In case someone wanted to spend a day or two in this area. Wear comfortable shoes or sensible flats, as there are hills and steep areas to walk. There are also lots of rocks to climb for photos or just to sit and relax on them to take in the views. There are also public restrooms, a small swimming pool, volleyball playing area, and a cafe/restaurant on site. Overall this was a nice place to stop and I highly recommend it if you're going to be in Monterey anyway or passing through Pacific Grove. read more

What a gorgeous place! I loved it here! There was a big rock formation for my daughter to go rock climbing on and there was a small beach next to it. The sand was lovely. There were many children and paddle boarders. There is a diner close by and you can also rent bikes to ride on the Coastal Trail. We chose to walk and ended up at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row! I loved this little spot in Pacific Grove. read more

We visited here in 2018 and never expected that in 2020, we would become visit here again as residents of Monterey. In truth you will probably never see it as empty as it is now, but there will still be crowds on the weekends. Today we got here around 9:30 and enjoyed a high water level with very powerful but elegant waves, and tons of ocean spray on the rocks. On regular days the water here is pretty chill. But with the waves this powerful, you are able to enjoy the surfers catch the perfect wave and enjoy the crash of wave against jagged rock. I only wished the city did a better job of maintaining Lovers Point, as there is almost always a stench when you walk from the parking lot past the coffee shop and to the park itself. You will also find a lot of seagulls and squirrels around. I recommend maintaining your distance and not feeding. Beaches are usually accessible, except for days like today when the water is unusually high. read more

We visited this park in order to access the coastal trail. I can see why photos of the beach are used on promotional materials for the area as it is quite beautiful. We found parking and headed east on the trail toward the Monterey Aquarium past Bewick Point. The trail is handicap accessible and provides one outstanding view of the rocky coastline after another. We retreated back to the park, used the public restrooms, and then walked in the opposite direction past Perkins Park before retreating back to the car. read more

Cute park to stop through. There's a trail that passes through this park and it's a nice spot to check out the views, statues and stairs down to the beach/sand. I'm from San Diego so this little beach area reminds me of a mini version of La Jolla Cove and the children's pool. There's an area of rocks where you can do a little hiking but I wouldn't advise it since it may be dangerous with the sharp rocks. There is a nice grassy area as well to do a little picnic but watch out for the gophers. There's also holes in the ground where gophers have dug holes. Be careful where you step because I tripped in one! Great picture spot also. Parking is 2 hour street and nearby lots. I saw parking enforcement so they are really serious about times down here. read more

This is a perfect place to be at the beach for a swim, to sunbathe, play volleyball or just simply hang out. On the day we visited the place, the weather was perfect! We biked from the bike rental shop, which was about 1.5miles, to Lover's Point Beach. It was a leisurely bike. We got the 8 seater bike, which made it more fun. Lover's point was our last stop. The huge trees provided a cool refuge for people like myself, who's afraid to get too much sun exposure. Watching all the events happening in that place was entertaining. There were 2 families on a Sunday picnic, another family that just came up from scuba diving, a good number of families by the shore wading or sunbathing. This place has a good balance 9f nature and convenience. The view and scenic structure provided the perfect background foe our pictures. On the other hand, there was a cafe, restaurant, and public washroom for visitors. read more

Nice little beach with a great view of the Monterey Bay. There is a park with plenty of picnic areas . There is a grill/snack stand just above the beach which serves pretty good hamburgers, but beware of the seagulls, they will go after any food you leave un-guarded. The ocean is filled with kelp, so swimming can be a very different experience. read more

Wow! A super busy place on a Sunday morning! You better bet all the folks in the town are here to catch a whiff of that salty sea spray. From about 8a - 11am there was a nice fog that hung around. The coastline of Monterey offers quite the view, and Lovers Point is a great place to kick back and take it all in. This place has a small grassy park with benches, but perhaps the best reason to come here is the rock formation to the north. These large rocks are climbable and offer a sweeping view of the Monterey Bay. There are spots around the rock where you and a loved one can sit, legs dangling out over the water, waves crashing below. A perfect place to gaze out over the water and watch the sunset. The Monterey Bay Coastal Trail runs past the park, so this place is one of many great spots along the trail worth exploring. The trail is a lovely place for a romantic stroll or a scenic run, and is arguably one of Monterey's most underrated assets. read more

Very beautiful scenic spot in Monterey. The different colors in the water remind me of postcards from Hawaii. The beach itself is pretty small, but plenty for kids to play in and for dipping your feet in the water :) But, it is a flight of stairs down and I didn't see any ramps or anything. There's also some rentals for bikes, kayaks and the like. There's restrooms nearby and a small grassy area too. There's some rocks that jut out into the water a bit which is great photo spot! ;) There are also some pretty wild flowers growing around here, so overall, super beautiful place. We "hiked" over from Cannery Row and it was a very nice and relaxing walk. Lots of people jogging, biking, or walking along the path toward here. There used to be some places where you could go out beyond the fence and get some nice shots, but they've since been fenced off, probably to better preserve the marine life here, which is too bad for us visitors, but totally understandable. You can still get really nice pictures from Lovers Point. Definitely come by at least once to see it for yourself! But bring layers as it can get chilly and windy. read more

NorCal, you have finally met my beach/ocean needs. I thought only SoCal had beautiful beach scenery and I was extremely sad about this, but Monterey has proved me wrong. I don't know where to start. The water is clear, the waves are calming to listen to, the area that surrounds is clean. There's seagulls (usually not a good thing), but there's just enough that it adds to the scenery without destroying your peace. Not too many, not too few, but just the right amount. It's the same with the people too. Not too crowded, not too empty, the number is on point. Walking around the park and through the rocks just makes you appreciate nature. read more

If you can make it down to Pacific Grove NOW, do so!! This time is perfect for seeing all the coastal wildflowers that are blooming in this park. The surrounding bluffs were literally carpeted in purple and I don't think I've seen a bluer sky, oh, maybe, EVER! The rocky outcroppings are a lot of fun to scramble around and the water is the most surreal blue green. Nice pathways to walk along to different viewing points and even though you need to hunt for parking, you'll find some if you're patient. Just flat out amazing views-I saw two sea otters out in the water and a harbor seal sunning itself on the rocks nearby. There are a ton of little ground squirrels, which didn't really bother me-in fact they were quite fun to watch. Ahhh, places like this make me remember why I moved to California in the first place. I almost wanted to deduct a star because it's called Lovers Point, which is kind of cheesey, but I'll let slide... read more

This park has great tide pool areas when the tide is low. It has a nice parking and plenty of street parking. There are a couple picnic tables and restrooms. The tide pools here are totally unsuspecting. Hit this place on low tide and the marine life is exposed for you to check out. We saw some really cool goose barnacles here. Really cool. Tons of Sea anemone.Like hundreds of thousands baby Anemone's on the rocks. I thought that was really cool, you could totally miss it if you were not looking. Also the beach has some beach glass and a ton of small shells. read more
