Came to the beach with my girlfriend and daughter and we had a blast. Now a lot of people on a Friday which was nice. Will come again.

Since the shelter in place still effective in April, we decide to go here for some fresh air and get ourself out the house for couple hours. I have never seen Monterey so relax and empty as now. It is a good things because Monterey always crowded with tourists! But since this outbreak everyone are required to stay in, the ocean water is so clear and blue. I came on Thursday around noon time and the street was empty as there are family on the beach but not only 1/10 as before so I felt like the ocean to myself! It was only 70 degree outside but I did not felt cold at all as the sun is shinny on the water. Everyone kept a 6 feet distance so it was great! I loves this area because it is less windy and the kids can played on the sand. I don't recommend swimming in this area as the wave is strong. Overall, I am glad that the beach is open during this outbreak as people might need some fresh air outside during this times! read more

We got to this hotel Monday. TV did not work very well. The blinds over the slider door would not close. I told the front desk about it. And asked for an extra pillow and blanket. Ok Tuesday morning left at about 10am I put the maid sign out on our door. We got back to room and yes we had blanket and extra pillows. But our bed had not been touched not made air straightened up at all. The trash in bathroom was not taken out. Give me a break it cost me $500 to stay 3 nights here. What an incredible breathtaking place. This is one of those places where you feel that time has stopped. Watching the waves crash against the rocks is soothing and they have an wide open parking spot nearby. Parking is free for two hours. There is a bike and kayak rental place nearby. This is a beautiful park that will make your soul smile, we spent two days here hanging out on the beach, exploring the rocks, tide pools, and listing to the wave's crash against the rocks. The ocean is where my heart is, and Lovers Point was the perfect place to let my heart breath the ocean in. This place is very easy to find and not a bad walk from Cannery Row, they also have bike rentals so you can explore the surrounding area. There is also a coffee shop and burger place at the park! Nice place to take your dog for a walk. Close to the aquarium as well. Parking isn't an issue in times of low crowds; we enjoyed our walk during the early weeks of November. Very low crowds and not many tourists. read more

It's cute!!! I don't know if I would come here to lay out on the beach given the fact that the actual beach part is small and easily gets crowded, however it's got a great view! While we were there a wedding ceremony was just finishing which seemed fitting given the name of the park. Climb the rocks. You gotta climb the rocks. Makes for great photos and the view is worth it. You can climb it in flip flops but make sure you balance is decent. If tide pools and ocean-y critters are your thing then this is also a good spot for that. It's a fun way for kids to learn and be less afraid about what may be swimming along side them. Parking can be tricky but if you find a spot of the street then consider yourself lucky!! If you get hungry there is the typical beach food, hot dogs, hamburgers etc, but there's also a quaint little cafe if you want something a little more formal. read more

I'm in love right about now. Yep, in love. Lovers point has me in love. It is a must place to visit. Parking along the beach. It's the type of place where any amount of time spent here is good, couple hours of the whole day. There's a snack bar and a some small little restaurant here as well. The water was cold according to the BFF who wanted to feel the water. The beach is clean. Monterey beaches are definitely clean and unkept. No trash. Lots of seating around. Also, a pool right above the beach. There's seats and tons of kids. I thought that was nice to have beach and pool right by each other. Views of Monterey as totally here. Make sure you walk to the end of the rocks which forms a point to call it Lovers point. The rocks are steep but it's do-able esp in rainbow flip flops. But it can be dangerous on the rocks FYI just be careful and don't go close to the edges BC you will fall. It's pretty high as well. Great fun for all. Families and kids and everyone. read more

I love this park & beach. It's my favorite place in Pacific Grove. A well-maintained park, lovely trees and landscaping, and pool-like ocean inlet where anyone nervous about the ocean could calm their fears. It's nearly paradise! And a few good restaurants to boot. But today I learned about the dark side. When this park is full (I see Salinas vans here today too), then the bathrooms are a 30 minute wait. Mothers with small children take what seems and eternity to change their kids out of their swimsuits. There is one changing stall and three restroom stalls (one for disabled with bars). It the kids are also changing in the toilet stalls which is not only kind of disgusting (in bare feet), but not hygienic. Pacific Grove NEEDS to address this restroom issue. It seems every park here has horrid restrooms worthy of a Netflix B horror film (the worst by far being Washington Park). I can't get that 30 minutes waiting at the restroom back. A huddled mass of screaming, loud girls...the smell of chlorine from the pool crowd. Dank, dirty restrooms packed beyond capacity. And some genius brings in another ten girls to just wash their hands! A dedicated changing room down on the beach seems like an easy fix. Maybe an additional park bathroom as well (in addition to the existing one in the restaurant building). PG can sell souvenirs and hold weekend BBQs to finance it. Please, fix the bathroom issue asap PG. This place is a gem on the coast. It's such a pity the restrooms are such a mess. I couldn't in good conscience give five stars due to this issue. read more

For those not familiar with the Monterey/Pacific Grove area, Lovers Point Park and Beach is a wonderful place to sunbathe and relax for a day! It's located along 17th Street and easily navigable via GPS (Waze!). There are two small sandy shores for locals and tourists to set down their beach towns and miles of walking along the coastal cliffside. But the real gem is the gorgeous breath-taking scenery. Photogs, get ready to eat your heart out at the pictures! Besides the amazing views, there are areas for picnicking, fishing, swimming, restaurants, hotel, etc. It's basically a honeymoon paradise! According to an information site, Lovers Point is one of the few east-facing coastlines where you can watch the sun rise over the water! How romantic right? I'd suggest walking along the coastline cliff for as long as you can :) It's amazing how one viewpoint differs from the other end. Biking may be difficult because the trail sometimes veers off to uneven dirt and cliff. But you can bike along the paved road. If you want to soak up some sunrays, there's a small beach shore where families and kids enjoy all the same. Also suggest to get crazy and climb the rocks in the center of the trail and grab a quick breath-taking selfie! One of my favorite, albeit not-so-secretive spots in the Monterey area. Make sure to head to the busy main streets/downtown area to grab some good grub! Or if you have cash, you can grab some snacks at the food stand :) Calamari and burgers by the beach? I love the park here and the waterfront. I'm always able to find a good place to park with a great view. It's a fantastic place to come and enjoy the scenery and the sea air even if it's just for an hour. But getting out and walking along the beach always calms me, and it never feels crowded here. read more

Scuba Diving Certification--Day 2 After our first dive at the Breakwater in Monterey, we made our way over here to Lovers Point for day two of our certification. Parking in the area ranges from a 2 hour parking lot, and some all day street parking across from the beach. We were able to find parking directly across the street, and this helped enormously with all of our scuba gear packed on. My suggestion for divers would be to arrive before 9:00am in order to find parking if you plan to be diving all day. Lovers Point is a popular spot for beach go-ers and kayakers since the cove itself is very protected. So you can beat that it gets quite crowded here. This review is mainly a diving review. I didn't so much care for the water itself here at Lovers Point in comparison to the Breakwater down in Monterey, but what I did like is the fact that the waters entering the ocean were extremely calm. The waters were quite murky and not as clear, and there was a lack of sealife under at 30 feet down. The only thing we noticed a lot of was...again...kelp. Maybe we needed to be further out in the waters in order to see more interesting creatures. Next time perhaps. Lovers Point has a snack stand that sells hot dots and refreshments, but for the most part, there weren't many places to dine. I would recommend packing a picnic lunch as there are plenty of benches surrounding. Overall, the waters entering were very calm and very easy to, the only exception is of course...k e l p . But I can see why swimmers and kayakers would love Lovers Point when hanging out around the sandy area. I will return for a future dive, in hopes of seeing a bit more. read more

AN ABSOLUTELY MUST DO! A STUNNING ROCKY COASTLINE with a FREE PARK & FREE BEACH with 2 HOUR FREE PARKING. Lovers Point Park in Monterey CA. is a Beautiful little spot. It has Waters that go from a Sea Glass Green Color to a Dark Ocean Blue. In May it was still Cold but it warms up in the Summer. You can picnic in the park on the green grass above with humungous trees that provide a lot of shade. They have very friendly squirrels here that seem to know all the tourists will feed them. LOL! You can take a dip in the crystal clear water or go Kayaking or Paddle Boarding. You can also rent a Bike or a Pedal Car too & see the Oceanside from a whole different vantage point. Another Fun thing to do here is Rock Climbing. Bring your sneakers. Over every new rock there is a picturesque landscape you can't see from the street that is ready for a snapshot photo. Beautiful! It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Ok.. So maybe I missed the memo to bring my drugs but I came here with the bf before dinner and the reviews talked so highly of this place. It is absolutely beautiful here. The cliffs overlook a beautiful sunset and there was even an outdoor wedding when I came. My bf and I, like many others, decided to climb the rocks over the beach. There we saw a group of shirtless Mexicans smoking... illegal substances... in the crevices of the rocks. Now look, I'm probably the LAST person to give a crap when it comes to weed but I can honestly say that they weren't smoking weed. I'm not going to say what it was.. but trust me when I say it wasn't weed. Now they were REALLY high and one decided to start humping a rock and rolling around on the rocks. It was SUPER weird. After taking pictures of the sunset, we decided to walk back to the car and watch the wedding from afar. Absolutely stunning beach and park here, the water is very low, Lovers Point is simply astonishing as well. There is a cafe and a delicatessen here too, with street parking that's seems to always have one or two spots available. The biggest problem here is the fact that it's equivalent to a kindergarten with the amount of screaming selfish children. I mean kids gonna be kids right, but if you're parent reading please consider others when you bring your monstrosities to public places, I would go to this beach 10/10 times of it wasn't for the little twats. read more

Beautiful views. Lovely tide pools. Appears to be a hot spot for weddings (we saw 2 different brides at the park). Wish I was able to spot some whales, but no such luck.. Couple of things about the place: 1. The ground squirrels. Yes they're cute little beggars, and because people appear to love feeding them, they have ZERO fear of humans. I walked up and no fewer than three of them came running right up to me. One assumed 'hind legs begging position' while the others hurried forward to see if I had any treats for them (I didn't). When I sat down on a bench, one hopped on the back of the bench (and was about to climb on my arm). I watched parents encourage their children to feed the squirrels (who would happily put their little paws on the child's leg and hands, trying to get those damn nuts) while taking vacation photos. Other adults were reaching out to touch and pet the squirrels Yes it's ADORABLE when wildlife lets you feed it.. however, this is DISCOURAGED because wildlife = WILD ANIMALS. They often carry DISEASE. F1or example: SQUIRRELS ARE DISGUSTING RATS.. and much like rats, they can carry PLAGUE (not to mention fleas, ticks, rabies..etc). Apparently nobody noticed how disgusting and mangy some of those 'cute' squirrels were. I saw a seagull carcass on the beach (and one squirrel on the side who had a few feathers hanging out of its fur). 2. I guess it wouldn't have mattered if there were signs telling people not to feed the squirrels... since nobody seemed capable of reading the many signs warning people not to get into or touch the water, because it was a health hazard. read more

This is a scenic spot in Monterey/Pacific Grove that my husband and I have visited a couple of times when we vacation here. It is a pretty location with a nice view, not the most spectacular in the region but serene and beautiful all the same. We like to watch the waves crash against the mighty rocks and the carefree gulls and pelicans flying high above in the sky. The wind was very strong on a recent visit so it was freezing cold, but at least the sun came out after quite a bit of rain so it was still nice. The cypress trees are majestic and make for nice backdrops. This is a good spot for a leisurely stroll with your SO or a picnic with your family. Worth a visit especially since parking is free for 2 hours and was easy to find. =) read more

Love it here. Everytime we visit the Monterey area, we have to stop here for a quick break. There has always been parking available along the street. Maybe we've just been lucky or maybe it's because we have only been here on weekdays. The scenery is so very calming and beautiful without the crowds. The fresh air is refreshing. There is a little beach down below. We enjoyed just being lazy and hanging out. There are people sunbathing, swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, and surfing. There is a bunch of little boulders and rocks at the park. It's cool to climb and scramble along the rocks a bit. Just be careful. Lovers Point Park offers many wonderful photo opportunities because everywhere you look is awesome. If you do not want to just stay and relax at the park, there is a pathway that takes you along Ocean View Blvd. It's nice for walking or jogging. Exercising with fresh air and great views. Can't beat that! If you've got time, check it out. Best time to visit is probably during weekdays cause I got a feeling it gets pretty crowded on weekends. read more

I came here on my way out of town from a beautiful weekend in Monterey. We were hesitant on stopping at the beach since we wanted to get home at a reasonable time, but I sure am happy we did. We weren't here for long but I still had a really fun time. This beach is seriously a haven for these adorable ground squirrels who don't seem to be afraid of humans what so ever! I was having a blast talking to these fuzzy creatures and taking an embarrassing amount of pictures. What can I say...I like cute things! My boyfriend had a fun time climbing all the rocks and playing lava. Sometimes we forget we are adults!! I wish we had planned a picnic here or at least had more time to explore. Im only giving this beach a 4 star because of the fact that it is drop dead absolute gorgeous! Besides the obvious, it is warm like no other beach surrounding because of the massive wall blocking the harsh, spine chilling, winter wind that is year round. The beach is always FLOODED with monstrous, vial children.(which is why im giving 4 stars instead of 5) I flat out witnessed two of these young serial killers throwing good sized rocks at innocent squirells. They also kick sand on our blanket and come into our personal space screaming. It is hard to have a good time with children invading and parents not having a care in the world if thier offspring ruins our beach day. Other than that, highly recommend. read more

You can go to this beach and let the kids play knowing they are not going to wander out of sight. If you get thirsty you've got a snack bar right there. There are public restrooms, picnic tables and bbq's... pretty much everything you need. Theres a little shack that rents out kayaks and bikes. I grew up spending everyday on this beach all summer long. As a young child I explored the tide pools, kelp forests and took my first big jump off the peer. Good times for sure. My kids actually know this beach as "the popsicle beach" because since they were 2 years old they've been eating the all fruit popsicles they sell at the snack bar. :) Oh did I forget to mention the volleyball court? Nice sand court with a killer view of the bay. Swimming pool, unfortunately is out of commission and looking pretty shabby right about now... another one of PG's issues with promoting positive activities for youth. So much red tape in this town... anyway, you've got to spend a day here especially if you're with kids. read more

Maybe the prettiest park anywhere. One feature that might be overlooked by visitors is the Suzanne Marie Calley bench. Ms. Calley was a passenger on hijacked Flight 77 and died when it was deliberately crashed by terrorists into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Love this park. It's a great meeting point for friends who wants to cycle, run, walk, kayak, SUP or even swim. On the weekends it can get pretty busy with all the recreational activities one can do. But who wants to stay indoors when it's so beautiful outside? The bike and walk trail leads to Monterey, can get packed. There is small kiddie pool that is open during the summer which is supervised by a life guard on duty. Adjacent to it is a beach volleyball court. That used to be a bigger pool but they converted it to a court, much more useful in my opinion. City of Pacific Grove has maintained this park very well throughout the years.. oh in the park they do not allow dogs. They can definitely go in the trail though. read more
