They promptly evaluated the transmission and charged around $250 (refundable if I did the work there) for the diagnostic. Their recommendation was a rebuilt transmission. No problem. I shopped around and had it done for $1500 less than the All Cities quote. I didn't do an online aftermarket purchase. The business I went to installed a Chevrolet certified reman transmission with a 3 year warranty (same as All City) that was direct from Chevy.

I'm embarrassed to admit these guys have had our business for so long. Something must have changed…read morein the last year or so. Our 2007 power stroke has been in and out of their shop multiple times. Thousands and thousands of dollars might as well have been lit on fire and burned. We are right back where we started. 2 new turbos, high pressure oil pump, injectors, etc and now another high pressure oil leak left us stranded for the third time. We had the truck towed over to them once again but this time they said "oh no you have metal shavings in your oil filter as well". They need to pull the cab again and do some half ass autopsy on this thing to try and figure out where these shavings come from. We asked to see the oil filter and it was immediately apparent they were uncomfortable. No eye contact, an inability to understand how a magnet works...it was clear there was deceptive behavior. Turns out these "shavings" upon further inspection by another shop were slag, drill bit shavings and even rocks and sand. There was nothing inside the filter nor above the plastic housing. I'm guessing a mechanic dropped the oily filter on the shop floor and tried to get us to authorize another $3500 to tear apart the engine to "figure it out". Buyer beware for sure. We will be presenting our pics and report to the BBB once the new shop confirms there's no metal contamination in the engine.
