Dr. Saiki came to our home on the weekend after Thanksgiving. We were so blessed to have our kids with us! Dr. Saiki was able to accommodate us for such short notice with the passing of our dear loved dog of 16 years. She spent a lot of time with us and allow us each to grieve during the process and say goodbye to our long time beloved family member. I can't emphasize how wonderful it was to have her in our home! Our dog declined more rapidly than expected and Dr Saiki was so wonderful. On the phone she was poliggt and straightforward with availability, price, options, and covid protocols. NOT RECOMMENDED. Was not the experience we thought we'd receive and would not recommend. Spoiler alert: she withheld our cat's remains from us for weeks. I did appreciate how Saiki was able to come by on such short notice, our cat Scooby had taken a turn for the worse over the weekend and no one else was available until the next day. That was about it. I did not find Dr. Saiki to have much "bedside manner", in the sense that while Scooby was fading off and we were comforting him in his final moments, she would not stop talking to us about what to do with his body and payment. It was extremely inappropriate and we eventually had to tell her to stop. She seemed to rush through the appointment, which if she didn't have the time do be there then she shouldn't have come. We had told her VERY clearly that we did NOT want Scooby's remains mailed to us, but we would rather pick them up from the crematorium ourselves. It meant a lot to us that he wasn't just mailed like some Amazon package, and we were willing to drive to Sonoma so that wouldn't be the case. She said that was fine and the crematorium would contact us in 2-3 weeks. Well, more than 3 weeks go by and I text Saiki about how the crematorium hasn't contacted us, and she replies "I have Scooby." If I hadn't contacted her, would she have ever said anything? She then proceeds to tell me that if I want him I have to come and get him because it's not her responsibility to get his remains to us, since we chose to have them mailed to her WHICH WE DID NOT. Eventually she brought his remains by, only after going on about it being the crematorium's fault and not hers. The cherry on top was we received what could have been a very nice condolences card from Loving At Home Pet Euthanasia, except inside of it was a request for us to give Saiki a great review on Yelp. Dr Saiki came to our home and did exactly what I hired her to do. With compassion and grace, she helped our dog cross over. He had lived with dementia for 5 years and was finally ready to go. Over the phone, I told the doctor that I didn't want to hear platitudes or words of comfort. Rather, we spoke of common things and I took comfort in that conversation. Dr Saiki came to our home on short notice which we appreciated as our Abby had taken a hard turn for the worst. She cut out time the next morning early before her work day and I'm so happy we were able to say good bye in the comfort of our home. Dr Saike explained everything that was going to happen which I appreciated. I liked her bed side manner as she was compassionate but with a clinical edge that let me know she knew what she was doing and our girl was not going to suffer or feel any pain. So, I have hesitated to write this review for awhile. If it wasn't for Dr. Saiki's shameless strip of paper inside her illegible "sympathy card", asking for a review on Yelp and Google, I never would be writing this review and instead would have emailed her directly. Take this review as you wish. I did contact Restful Paws to inform them of my feelings about their recommendation of Dr. Saiki. I can't blame them at all but I asked them to never recommend her to anyone. We used their service for our other dog and it was the BEST service. I'll admit, this day was an emergency and Restful Paws were not able to come to our home. Our little Frenchie was suffering from cancer and started having repeated seizures over a 12 hour period. It was very difficult for him and us to watch him suffer, so we knew it was time to make the hard decision. Dr Saiki was the only vet available. She arrived on time as expected, but from the phone call to when she arrived the entire event was very unpleasant. I've read the 5 star reviews and wished we'd had those same experiences. Unfortunately we did not and the day still bothers me. It was the end May. Restful Paws was everything those 5 start reviews spoke about and we expected this day to be similar. When Dr. Saiki arrived, I found her abrasive, loud and very nonchalant with this truly traumatizing day. 12 hours of watching a dog suffer and then to have this be the final day was a tough pill to swallow. She showed such little compassion toward her job, that even surprised the **** out of me. Trust me, It takes a lot to make me feel that way. Dr. Saiki swiftly injected the valium type medication while our dog was still standing and walked away to our kitchen. I then asked if I should lay him down but she appeared preoccupied with reading something. Our dog then suffered an additional seizure and he stopped breathing on his own. She then quickly came back into the room and fumbled with a final euthanizing medication, which in itself gave an unusually aggressive response. I immediately thought the second medication wasn't necessary as our dog had stopped breathing already. From there, it was all business. (Venmo me so I can leave.) It even seemed inconvenient to ask her for time to allow my 11 year old daughter to say her goodbyes. Anyway, I'm giving a Yelp review just like she asked for in her sympathy card. If you catch Dr. Saiki on one of the 5 star days then you are probably ok. But I just hope she works hard to improve on days like ours. To Dr. Saiki: these transactions may be routine business to you, but not to a pet owner. Please try to improve and avoid being like this to anymore customers. And I'd recommend avoiding the little strip of paper inside the sympathy cards, its extremely poor taste. If someone wants to give you review, it will happen. Furthermore, for your future customers please try to remember to report the death of a pet to the respective Vet Office or don't bother asking who we use. Don't worry, we called our Vet, who took care of our 2 dogs for over 12 years about a month later. They were as surprised as us that you hadn't called. They sent us flowers with an honest, heartfelt, legible card (without any strings attached.) If you read this far, use Restful Paws if at all possible for in home euthanasia. It's a tough thing to do so you'll need to guarantee a thoughtful Vet arrives and provides good service no matter what. read more

If and when the situation arises and you need to say goodbye to your fur baby please don't do it at a veterinarian office. I have had 3 dogs that have passed over the years and 2 at the clinic. Our 6 yr old Shepherd got ill very quickly and Dr Saiki came to our home. She was very supportive, professional and has a very big heart. Explained everything and was very patient with us. Dr. Saiki's handling of the euthanasia process was perfection. Our beloved 15 year old Boston Terrier was declining rapidly after having been treated for a brain tumor. Our original intent was to take her to a vet's office to have the procedure done, but she always hated going there, so we decided last minute that we wanted her final moments to be in the place she felt loved the most -- our home. Dr. Saiki contacted us shortly after my phone call and was able to do it on short notice. She explained the process thoroughly as she performed it. We were able to nuzzle our girl on her favorite bed in the warmth and serenity of her own home while she received the injections. The first one or two shots completely relaxed her and it was the first time in weeks we had seen her so at peace (other than sleeping). As she was drifting off, I looked into that sweet face one last time and I truly felt as though she was trying to say she was ready to go. The final injection gently sent her over the Bridge and into her eternal slumber. There was no fear and no struggle on the part of our girl. It was exactly how I hoped she would go. If you are in the unenviable position to require euthanasia for your beloved pet, I can think of no better way than having Dr. Saiki handle the process. I highly recommend her services. read more

I'm writing this review sometime after my dear Zen's euthanasia, because it just made me so sad. I could not have asked for a better vet to come and euthanize Zen. I knew my 18-year old cat was failing, but I just couldn't let her go. Finally, on a Friday when I just happened to be home from work, an additional wound opened on her shoulder (she had shoulder cancer). I called Dr. Saiki and explained the urgency. I couldn't bear Zen have another day of discomfort. Although she still wanted pets, treats, and to go outside, it was her time. Dr. Saiki came out within half an hour. She was professional. We needed that or my husband and I would have lost it. She explained the process very clearly. While she was filling out the required paperwork, she asked us about Zen and our lives together. We got to tell stories about her that brought back so many memories. Zen's passing was quiet, while she lay in my arms. I was able to close her eyes, and hug her a while longer, even though she was gone. I would highly recommend Dr. Saiki for in-home euthanasia. read more

I contacted numerous other home-euthanasia services but either didn't get a prompt response, or they weren't available on Sundays. This is the second time I have used Dr. Sakai to help one of my beloved pets to cross over to the Rainbow Bridge. My Daisy was 13 years plus. She had been having difficulty walking for some time and I had taken her to my vet a few times and was told that she was old and had arthritis. I knew that it was more than arthritis. The Tuesday before I called Dr. Sakai, Daisy was coming into the house from the garage and her back legs collapsed. After getting her into the house and realizing that her legs were not going to work again, I kept her close to me all night, hoping that maybe there was swelling pressing on her spine and with some rest, she would be better in the morning, She was not. Was going to take her to Sage to have her checked out. While waiting for my daughter to come from SF, Daisy started whimpering and panting. When my daughter got here, she confirmed that it was time and I called Dr. Sakai. She came within half an hour. What with all the Covid stuff going on, I was not able to stay close to Daisy, bu Dr. Sakai gave her a sedative first, then stepped away and was able to sit and talk with Daisy while she became sedated. Dr. Sakai let us know when she was fully sedated. We had to step 6 feet away and let Dr. Sakai give her the final injection. We helped Dr. Sakai take Daisy to her car. Received Daisy's ashes back in about 2 weeks. I have not been able to bring myself to bury her in the yard with my other pets that are scattered throughout the yard, but will doing so soon. Dr. Saiki was wonderful to work with. On a Monday morning, we contacted her before 9am, and she was able and willing to come in that same morning. Two hours after calling her, she came into our office and consoled our staff as she administered the euthanasia. Our office cat Bernie was so loved and it was such a hard time for us to see Bernie go. His 16 years of life was special to our JATC staff and students; he was truly a part of the family, and he will be so so missed. Dr. Saiki was loving and caring and provided our staff a calming and professional service. After our tears were wiped away there was a sense of peace with our reality of Bernie's passing. Dr. Saiki sent our office condolences in a card one week later, and that gesture was very touching and appreciated. Within two weeks we received Bernie's ashes. Cannot thank Dr. Saiki enough! Our beloved Fuzzy, 8.25 year old German Shepherd, lived a great life but saw an extremely rapid decline because of DM (Degenerative Myelopathy) in the last couple of weeks of his life. Once we made the tough and sad decision to ease his suffering we wanted him to comfortably go to sleep at home surrounded by his family. We made the final decision on Saturday morning and didn't want to delay it. No other doctor was either available on such short notice or over the weekend. But Dr. Saiki was kind enough to come to our house on Sunday on short notice and help us through this extremely tough time. Because of her Fuzzy was able to peacefully go to sleep in his own home while being petted by all of us. Our regular vet was not available and Dr. Saiki was able to come to our house within 1 hour on a Sunday! We truly appreciate her flexibility! She helped ease our dogs discomfort and helped him go peacefully in his favorite place in our bedroom. We all know dogs have short lives and their death is a part of life.
