We've been using Loving Care for dog-walking (2xs/wk), daycare (2xs/wk), pick up/drop off, minor grooming, and boarding for about 4 yrs. Our boxer mix, Dexter, loves going there and comes home happy, healthy and never smelly. They have never missed a scheduled service, and they've been really flexible with last-minute email scheduling changes. Loving Care and the owner (Rockey) have proven to be very reliable, and we've trusted them with not only our dog, but also access to our home. They recently renovated their indoor and outdoor space; we took a tour a few months ago and it was very good. Our experience has been positive all around. As pet owners, you should always do your due diligence. Loving Care welcomes having you pop in unannounced. Horrible! Dont seem to love animals at all...brought our older poddle/maltese mix here and they injured him! Had to take him to the vet for a soft tissue injury in his spine! The individual at the front desk is so uncaring and rude. Dont go here! The times before that we ought him they didn't even do a good job. read more

This review is a long time coming. I haven't been back in over a year. Been going there for quite a few years and all the sudden my dog came home with a cut in between his paws. I called to let them know and all I got was let me ask to see if someone knew something. How about a I'm sorry or maybe calling me back and checking up on him. We went back one more time, my mistake. He could barley walk and had a horrible skin infection that took 3 times on antibiotics to get rid of. We know found a place where he's done in half the time and comes home very happy and full of energy. Stay away!!! I'd give it a negative 5 if I could! Carlos is the one I dealt with. read more

Loving Care is truly excellent on all the stuff that matters. Their people are fantastic, from Rockey, the owner, through Carlos, the long-standing director of the shop/grooming service, Michelle, who runs "The Ranch" up the road, with doggie day care and boarding, and includes every dog-walker and "chauffeur" (they pick up and deliver your pet) I've ever met. All are professional, friendly and make every effort to go above and beyond on service. Believe me - I've tested their patience many a time when I've called them on very little notice for day care. One time, on the way to the airport (yikes!), I realized I'd failed to make arrangements for doggie day care. I called Michelle and begged her to arrange for a pick-up for my dog, whom I had left crated on the ground floor. (We have a long-standing arrangement, so they have home access for pick-ups during their normal hours, even if I have to leave earlier for the airport.) She was very gracious, told me not to worry and took a huge burden off my mind. I like it that the dogs in day care and boarding are in groups playing with each other most of the day, instead of each being confined to its own kennel. I'm amazed, frankly, that they do that, since it seems a fight or two might break out here or there, but I think they are competent to deal with issues like that quickly, I'm willing to take the risk and on the whole I just think it's better for the dogs to be socializing together. (On a cautionary note, though - their website says they assure that all dogs are up to date on their vaccinations, but I've never received a request from them to verify that on my dog, so I don't know how they can do that...) I took off half a star for that, and half a star because another element of their Customer Admin is, as far as I can tell, also non-existent. In the early years (I've been with them since they started in 1998), their billing was atrocious; we used them very frequently (several times a month), for day care and about once a month for grooming. I didn't get a statement of charges unless I requested one, and their statements didn't match up with my records for dates of service at all. For example, one month, they showed "grooming" 3 days in a row (impossible)... which turned out to be that they had posted the last three months' grooming all during that billing month. Legit, but confusing. These days, I THINK they just charge a credit card we have on file with them. I say I THINK because we still never receive any statements from them confirming what they bill us, and I haven't taken the time to go back through my credit card statements to see what they bill us, when, and try to match it up. To be clear - I have no concerns whatsoever about their integrity - I am positive they are entirely trustworthy and honest on every level - just their systems could use a good deal of work. Then they would be perfect in every way! Nonetheless, Admin issues are far less important to me than having complete confidence in their people, liking the way they groom and board, appreciating their ability and patience in accommodating my sometimes inconvenient requests, and seeing over 15 years how well they have treated my succession of dogs. I recently had to call my friend to go pick up my dog at Loving Care while I was out of town when I discovered they were boarding the dogs in filthy conditions ( feces in the crates and mold all over the walls), crating them ( which I was assured they would not do to my dog) and leaving them all night without an attendant! This is not where you want to board your dog people! Find another place where the dog comes first and where the owner can be trusted to do what he claims he is doing. I have been going to this place for years and recommending them to other people! So this is a huge disappointment that has led to me wanting to inform other people. Since I called the owner and told him off, he has reinstated a night attendant and is gutting the place. My dog will NEVER go back to Loving Care and your dog shouldn't either. My dog gets very excited when he sees other dogs, so they always make sure to have him come in/out the back which helps immensely. Barney is always ready very quick and has a thorough clean and smells great when we pick him up! You know you are in a good spot when your dog doesn't try to leave with you when you go and is happy and excited to be somewhere. We have never had an issue with scheduling, it's always been very simple and flexible which makes everything easy. I highly recommend. read more

I was recommended "Loving care pet" on frontage rd northfield for dog daycare When I got there the owner told me: 1) the dogs are supervised at all times and they have this play yard and get water etc -- 2) the area is cleaned regularly and washed down -- 3) there is someone in direct supervision at all times who plays with the dogs 4) the dogs are segregated according to size I dropped off my 10 month old dog for a trial run -- I highly recommend people do the same and check up on their pets rather than take things for granted -- I snuck back 1 hr later and without announcing myself and went into the rear of the building where their dog yard is. -- there I see about a dozen dogs (all much larger than my 25 pound puppy, mostly labs and retriever type dogs) in a 60'X30' fenced/enclosed area with bare dirt -- the area has a powerful smell of urine from continual saturation (I believe based on the smell that the area only gets a thorough watering when it rains) -- I see 2 dogs with violent explosive diarrhea -- a large bucket of community water in the center which had not been cleaned recently as it was coated with drool -- several piles of poop -- not a supervisor in sight -- in fact nobody even noticed me back there I waited for 10 minutes in case the supervisor had to go to the bathroom (to give the benefit of the doubt) -- he never came out -- my puppy was in the corner away from all the dogs -- when she smelled me she got so excited like I was breaking her out of jail -- she ran up to the fence and was clawing at it -- it was awful -- Of course when I went to the desk I got the second helping of baloney from the owner -- "oh your dog has adjusted very well and seems to really like it here -- I could give you a special deal on a package of 10" -- the owner is a con artist and the dogs are not properly cared for -- I suspect the sick dogs were likely the result of the poor hygiene of the area I wouldn't leave these people in charge of a tortoise farm much less real pets -- read more

Loving Care should be held accountable for cruelty to dogs and deception to their customers. We entrusted our beloved pet for day care and overnight boarding. We were assured the dogs were not crated and there was always someone there to care for them. We were shocked to find they routinely crate the dogs in unsafe, unhealthy, moldy conditions and leave them without food, water or a place to defecate. We were also told that the owner actually admitted double-crating the dogs when they were over-crowded. Stay away from "Loving Care" and hopefully they will go out of business so that they cannot harm any other pets. read more

Our dog died while under the care of this boarding facility. Michelle knew he had a heart condition and let him play outside in exceedingly hot weather anyway. It was careless and inhumane. We also had an experience when Michelle "forgot" to have someone come by to take care of our dog when we were away overnight. I would be afraid to trust them for boarding ever again. read more

We took our Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier here yesterday after many failed tries at finding a good groomer. Foley came out looking TERRIFIC, and was not trembling and making a mad dash for the car as he did at the other two places we tried! I'm so happy we found a place we can trust not to hurt our puppy. They obviously know how to groom a dog with kindness, and we will be regular customers! read more

Absolute WORST dog boarding place I have ever experienced. One star is being overly compensatory for the horror my dog and I were put through, and this place deserves to be shut down for illegal treatment with dogs. These people are manipulative, scheming, and trick all of their customers into thinking that their dogs are being taken care of by their sly talk and overall false representation. About 6 months ago I had boarded my dog and was out of down for a little over a week. I continuously called and texted multiple people in the organization and had NO responses from anyone. When boarding your dog, dog owners expect superior communication and this was far far far from it. I was worried sick about my dog, and you can imagine not hearing any feedback is extremely concerning. On top of that, I receive a call the day after I dropped my dog off from the technician stating that she "didn't think my dog should stay here" and that there were "dogs ganging up on him".... Do you think a dog owner wants to hear this? Literally 24 hours I get another call from Rocky stating that "Oh, that woman didn't know what she was saying it was in the moment"... No, YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO TREAT DOGS. that's what was going on. This lack of communication, and confusing communication was yet another trend for this highly disorganized and discombobulated abuse of a business. Their facility was anything but clean, they had all of their dogs mushed into one room, and on TOP of that they combined small dogs (a.k.a toy poodles) and big dogs (like huskies, shepherd, etc.) into a room, claiming that they "liked" to play together. I'm all for socialization, but when I'm not there and REQUESTED that my dog be separated and later found out he wasn't, I was very upset. I picked up my dog after this experience and he was soaking wet, had an open flesh wound bite on his ear, and on top of it was extremely lethargic for a week, literally sleeping continuously every single day. Anybody that knows huskies knows that this is EXTREMELY abnormal for this breed. This was not a "worn- out" kind of lethargy. This was a lethargy that I would have believed to be caused by drug- induced situation. I have a siberian husky puppy, who like all puppies is naturally energetic and hyper, and instead of playing with him and allowing him to exercise I believe they gave him something to sedate him, resulting in him being completely comotosed. We LOVE Loving Care by Carlos and Rene! My cockapoo, Riley, is almost 12 years old and has been going there her whole life. They are kind, welcoming, and do a GORGEOUS job! People stop us constantly and comment on how pretty Riley looks and and ask HOW is her coat so soft? It's in the grooming for sure! We think they are absolutely PAWFECT:) Best of all, Riley is happy going in, and loves getting her treat when she leaves! I highly recommend. read more

I have been taking my dog into Loving Care for a few years now and have been satisfied up until this week. I had to take her into the vet as she had an irritation/scrape by her eye that was pink and overnight turned red. After paying the $100+ vet bill for antibiotics and cream, I went back to Loving Care to show Carlos and the groomer what had happened. I'm giving them 2 stars because of the lack of compassion and especially for the lack of a "so sorry, we will be more careful." I could not believe nothing was done or said to make me feel as though they were concerned enough, no refund, no good explanation other than the "Master" groomer said there was moisture near the dog's eye. And i cannot believe for a minute that this abrasion under the eye was not seen by the groomer....really???? I was so disappointed that I will not recommend this business nor will I return. read more

At first I thought Loving Care wasn't bad. I was a first time pet owner and it was my first time taking my dog to a day care. However, as time went on, I noticed subtle changes with my dog. He became very afraid of men, even my boyfriend. He was still playful, just a lot more scared and we couldn't figure out why. Every time I would pick him up, I would ask how he behaved and they would give great reports, however, on one occasion they introduced him to a dog that is typically not so friendly. The dog went after mine and of course like any dog would, mine defended himself. However, when I went to pick him up that day, he was in a separate room. I asked why and they explained. My comment to them was if my dog was defending himself, why wasn't the other dog separated, rather than my dog. They mentioned that at times they would spray him with a water bottle if he didn't listen too. Recently, I went to go drop him off and he is usually bounding out of the car to go, however, one of the guys who works there was outside smoking. My dog, remained frozen in the car, drooling, shaking and not moving. I tried to stand between him and the guy to have him focus on me, but all he did was keep moving his head to stare at the kid. Eventually the kid went in after his smoke break, but my dog refused to get out of the car. I have no idea what goes on at Loving Care. All I can do is ask how the day was. There was never a tour of the place, even when I asked, they have never asked for updated records of my dogs vaccinations, nothing. All they wanted was proof that he had his rabies vaccine. Quiet frankly, that is not enough. I have never seen the owner and it just seems like a bunch of kids work there.They might have a great training program, but I am highly suspicious of their daycare program and would not recommend it. read more

I used them for years and was extremely satisfied with their services. Every time I dropped off my dog, there was always the same people excited to see him. They had a living room with a couple couches and a TV on. It felt like it was a home for him away from home. I have left him there on several occasions while I was gone on trips ranging from 2-14 days. I was told that the dogs would not be crated and they would be attended at all times. THAT WAS A LIE. New management also decided that comfortable living situations weren't necessary in the living room. It is now bare with no furniture or TV. The dogs are crated overnight with no one staying overnight. They are crated for long enough periods of time that the dogs must relieve themselves in the crates.
