During the piercing, after the jewelry was inserted, the piercer bent it to better fit my nose. Less than 24 hours later, while I was asleep, the back end of the jewelry traveled up my nose when I inhaled. I woke up feeling what seemed like a sharp shard of metal in my throat. I later realized the back of the stud had broken off and I had swallowed it. My fresh piercing was injured, and I had no way of knowing whether I had swallowed or inhaled the broken piece. I seriously considered going to the ER despite not having health insurance. I immediately contacted the shop, explained what happened, and requested a refund so I could purchase replacement jewelry elsewhere. Instead, I was told the jewelry was non-refundable and that corporate would review my case within 48 hours. That wasn't a reasonable solution because I was leaving for a two-week trip. When I returned to the shop, the piercer initially did not give me the broken jewelry back. Instead, she told me she was going to "send it to be repaired" while gesturing toward the display case. Based on that conversation, I left with the understanding that the broken jewelry would be repaired and returned to inventory, which I found extremely concerning. I requested the broken jewelry back and ultimately retained it. The company has since stated that returned jewelry is sent back to the manufacturer and is not repaired or resold. However, based on the conversation I had during my visit, that was not my understanding at the time. The reason I wanted the broken jewelry back was to understand why a piece sold to me as premium 14k rose gold had failed in less than 24 hours. I had the jewelry subjected to a metallurgical/chemical analysis, which I recorded on video. According to that analysis, the jewelry was not 14k rose gold despite being sold and represented to me as such. I have retained the video documenting the analysis. That completely changed my understanding of what happened. The company's response suggested the jewelry likely bent while I was sleeping. However, it had already been bent by the piercer after insertion, and the more significant issue for me became that the metallurgical analysis indicated the jewelry did not match what I paid for. For context, I have had dozens of piercings over the years and have never experienced anything remotely like this. I've never had jewelry fail within 24 hours, never swallowed part of a piercing while sleeping, and never had testing indicate that jewelry sold to me as 14k rose gold was not 14k rose gold. For a studio that markets premium piercings and premium jewelry, I expected premium materials, transparency, and customer service that prioritized safety. Instead, I was left with a broken piercing, swallowed part of the jewelry, was denied the refund I requested, and later learned through metallurgical testing that the jewelry I purchased did not match the material it was represented to be. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Club Tattoo.

Piercings are done with needles, not guns. It's much more sanitary and overall better for long term health of the piercing site. It was very quick and relatively painless It's pricey- you pay for the piercing and the jewelry, which adds up, but I think that's now standard at most locations. You need to really work on your delivery and how you present 'required legal disclosures'. It felt very transactional and this is supposed to be an exciting time and your job was to help her feel welcome and comfortable- which you clearly did not do!!
