The shop itself is great. Bright and clean and everyone supports the running of the business and I thought I found a place to stay with for years to come. I did nine tattoos with her and along the way and I thought I had built up a nice level of trust and respect. I thought I was a better than average tipper and did my very best to follow her rules for communicating and discussing my designs. In March I was all set to do my tenth tattoo. It was going to be a surprise to show my niece and nephew at a mid-May party. I went in for a consult and reviewed my design and gave my deposit. She mentioned she had idea(s) for the stars in my design and that night I asked her to send me some to review. (This was about two months before my appointment.) I followed up a couple of weeks later and she tells me how busy she has gotten with new customers, how much pressure she is under, but she'll see about getting me something "in a few days." I told her no worries, take a month. I just need it a couple of weeks before my appt so I can review it. Unfortunately, I never received anything from her. Ultimately I had to contact her to cancel my appointment because I didn't have the designs she promised. There were a lot of excuses, but she didn't really try to make it right or find a mutually workable solution. I'm truly saddened because I think she's a fantastic artist ( I had her tattoo her logomark on me I liked her work so much), I thought we had a really good working relationship, and I hoped this would be a long partnership. I guess she had different ideas. I wish her luck.

I have been going to David for all of my artwork for a few years now and I can honestly say..his professionalism and respect are as solid as his incredible talent. From my own experience with David, nothing is ever "just a tattoo". Each time he has worked with me to create a piece of art that speaks to his creative ability as well as my personal style. Even during a session, he has this amazing ability to see the future potential in the piece he is working on at the moment...throwing ideas at you on what he can add to it, where he can take it....that's a tattoo artist that takes unbelievable pride in his work. With David, it's always - "that's hot...but we are going to make it way hotter!". I can't go anywhere without someone stopping me to admire my artwork. It's a pretty amazing feeling when people stand there staring in awe and amazement at something so beautiful that he has created on my body. I started out asking for her paw print but as I got to know Damon and saw his talent as an artist my vision evolved. Damon made me comfortable by taking me through the steps which included sketching Luna before completing the tattoo. His talent was evident and I was comfortable entrusting this to him. I am extremely pleased with the result and would recommend Damon if you are so inclined to get one. He told me about older women he has done work for and it reinforced the fact that age is just a number! I now have me precious, sweet, Luna with me forever.

I found out about The Base from an online search for fine line tattoo artists in Brooklyn. What a vibe this place was. The energy felt calming, the chill out music playlist was fire, and all the staff I interacted with were kind, accommodating, and professional. The establishment was an open design concept so it didn't feel stuffy or crowded with furniture, equipment, etc. It was also super clean and I routinely saw staff cleaning and prepping equipment, wiping things down, and sanitizing areas and work stations. I came in for a more intricate tattoo than I thought lol but 6 hours later I was thrilled. My artist, Ozge Demir was phenomenal, she had great energy, and was very detail oriented which I appreciated. She captured the essence of what I wanted my tattoo to be. The place is very very clean (I am kind of obsessed with stuff like that) they clean before you, they clean after you, so it is like the stations are double cleaned. The staff is lovely and friendly. Baris is an e.x.t.r.e.m.e.l.y talented artist. He explains everything and is very transparent about the process and how it will turn out. He tells you about what to expect in the long run and what the primary logic is. For example I asked for a small but very detailed and colored tattoo and he told me how it would look in a year or two. Now I have a different one :) My first tattoo is on my inner right arm. It went super smooth and had taken 3 hours or so. My second one is on my spine and despite everyone saying it was gonna hurt, it did not. Baris puts his best in everything he does. The second one was a Japanese poem and he didn't just do line tattoo. No sir, he went above and beyond, made sure he integrated the Japanese calligraphic aesthetic into it. I am beyond happy with both my tattoos and I will definitely come back for more.

This piercing is the result of when the customer had a flat piercing in mind, but the piercer explains why a flat just wouldn't work on their ear.
