John installed my toilet and it was crooked about 5 degrees to the left. Now every time I walk in my bathroom, I am disappointed to see my toilet that is crooked and not lined up straight like it should be. Also I paid $50 for a disposal fee to dispose my old toilet but when I walked outside I was surprised to see a lot of cardboard and leftover parts that I had to breakdown and dispose of myself. read more

Found this plumbing company on Yelp (of course) and they definitely did not disappoint! I was not there for the actual service, my husband was. I had quotes on several different plumbing companies, and no others could beat the price. I felt like they were truly genuine and gave good advice and didn't make more suggestions to make more money. From what my husband told me. They did a great job and were very knowledgeable. They also changed the water heater out in a timely fashion. Thank you Yelp for connecting me to John and Low Cost Drain Plumbing. As generic and straight forward as the name sounds, it's exactly what you want when you need the help he provides. No nonsense, straight forward and gives an explanation to you in English. Not that industry jargon that you might here some of those fancier more expensive plumbers might throw at you. My toilet had that high pitch noise coming out of it. Doing a little internet research, I discovered that I needed the fill valve replaced. I also had a leaky bathtub so I figured might as well address that as well. I messaged the company through Yelp and John replied within 24 hours. Gave him a call and described to him my problem. Within a few days after we agreed on a time, he came by and took a look. Boy am I glad he did, he checked out. The piping and took a look under the house as well and found that the pipes leading into the house had a few leaks! So within a week we addressed the leaky pipes, the toilet and even the leaky bathtub. The estimate provided was a little more than the actual but that's because he was able to stop the "domino" effect. He found one area that he was able to fix that remedied the other problem areas. Thank you John for helping us out especially during the busy holiday period. I plan on bringing him back in to changed out our stems to the main valve of the house, which if you know over time in an old house can get corroded and rusted. My 7-year old son has a serious problem understanding the correct amount of toilet paper that needs to be used when wiping his okole. He loves to use huge wads of toilet paper and this inevitably causes clogs. One night while I was having the time of my life with a bunch of yelpers, this is the phone call I get from my boyfriend... +BOYFRIEND: You have to come home! The upstairs toilet is flooding and there's water everywhere! +ME: What?! (Drinking glass of wine) What happened?! (Eating bite of Wolfgang's steak) +BOYFRIEND: Aidan clogged the toilet and now there's two inches of water in the bathroom. It's leaking down into the kitchen! +ME: Awww dammit! After replacing my fluidmaster fill valve and supply line with brand new parts about 4:30pm today, I find out the angle valve stop drips...never dripped before...why N-O-W ??? I thought the leakage was from the bottom end of the braided stainless steel supply line that I installed at least 7-8 years ago, that's why I replaced the supply line and fluidmaster...nope...my Brasscraft brand (oem/installed in late '93) started to drip...1 drip every 2 seconds...decided to turn off the shut-off valve to off, and call a plumber...since I never had ever replaced a angle valve stop before...I didn't want to replace it myself especially at night, so I called Matt...(had used him back in June to do preventative sewer drain line clean out)... Great...he could come within 2 hours...but actually came about 6:30pm...replaced it within like 8 minutes with a new angle valve stop, and even corrected my install of my work that I just did (didn't install the new black tubing that fills the overflow tube--thought it was ok..ok, it was a little hard)...he said I should replace it, as it wasn't right...(see what laziness can do?)..he replaced it and even adjusted the water level as it was a low flow type toilet..(I knew it was a low flow toilet, but the water line level is showing near the top of the fill valve tube, so that's why I had it always filled to that height line level). He showed me that the Brasscraft had a rubber washer internally (as he turned it to the on and off position in his hands so that I could see that washer) compared to new angle valve stops that now have a stainless steel washer... that was the cause of the dripping... Anyway, after doing the job...he already quoted me the price before coming over, I chit chatted with him for about 10" about anything and everything...congrats on he soon to be a father! What can I say about Matt? He's pretty fab for a plumber. So we have been having plumbing issues ("issues" is putting it nicely). Here's how last week went (BTW, I am Resident manager AND Honey): Monday: "Honey, call the plumber got poop in the tub." Had a different plumber come by to snake that drain. Tuesday night: "Honey, shit is coming up the drain again, call the plumber!" Made 3 calls to different plumbers, evening libation in hand; Matt was the one that returned my call. He came out to the house around 830pm, and snaked that drain. He also told me what he thought the problem was, and that it was probably the last 4 feet of the pipes, before it got to the main sewer. He gave me a quote for the repair. BTW, even the next day, the other plumbers never bothered to call me back. Wednesday: all good. PHEW! Thursday: "Honey, WTF? it's doing it AGAIN!" called Matt again, he came out and snaked it. I was told to get a camera view so we could see what was going on. Matt was pretty much spot on, and it was a problem somewhere near the sewer connection. Had to get a 2nd estimate so I couldn't give the go ahead (yet) for the repairs. Matt was so awesome, he checked his schedule and realized he didn't have any drains to snake, so he left his snake "just in case" we have another issue.....yup, he left his snake for us. Wow! Friday: no major plumbing issues, slow drains, and low usage, but the tub gurgled every time a toilet was flushed. Had a second plumber in for an estimate, FYI, that estimate was almost 2x what Matt quoted, and they would not be able to do the repairs until sometime the next week. No bueno--only rented the porta potty for the weekend. Must repair NOW!!! Saturday: Matt was able to repair the line. Hubs did labor duty, helped out with digging (thanks hubs!) and almost 7 hours later, we have flushing success! Thank you, Matt! He found more issues with the pipes, and had to replace close to 8 feet of pipes. I was cringing when I asked him "so, now, how much?". You know what this guy did? He stuck to his estimate. For Reals! I am a total fan of Matt's plumbing. Got leaks? Call Low Cost Drain Plumbing. And, just know he's a one man operation, so give the guy a break if takes a little while to return your call. Interesting guy. Was kind of rough on the phone and intimidating in person but he ended up being a cool guy. He was able to fix my slow drain. He did throw me off quite a bit. At one point, he poured boiling water down the drain and he was giving it some time to take effect. I offered him a soda to drink and he accepted. He opened the can and DUMPED IT ALL DOWN THE DRAIN. He said that soda is very good at clearing drains. Then he proceeded to go look at what other cleaners I had taken out from under the cabinet and started randomly pouring those down the drain. Vinegar (luckily still had enough to cook adobo that night). One was even carpet cleaner. I am not sure if my jaw dropped or not but he totally caught me off guard. haha. He asked if I had a plunger he could use. Thought it was strange that a plumber doesn't have a plunger but no biggie. Fortunately I did have one. Overall, I would call on him again. I think I know what to expect now so hopefully I won't be caught off guard again. Just gotta hide the vinegar, soda, and beer. :) read more

Long story short, I clogged the garbage disposal and yelped plumbers who'd be available at 8:30 p.m. Matt (owner/plumber) answered and said he could come down within the hour and get the job done in an hour or so. Gave me an estimate of $250 (which is good considering a few other plumbers wouldn't over the phone and it was an emergency situation.) He got here and my little clog was actually a major clog (needed the big snake) so it actually took a little over 2 hours vs. 1 and he still gave me the same price for all that hard work! I felt bad, so I gave him a tip but was also glad to since he was honest about the price. Would def recommend him again in such a situation. read more

They left huge clumps of hair and filthy rubbish everywhere. They made a mess and were straight jerks! I had to call A-1 budget to fix their mess which ended up costing so much more. So apparently Matt who owned this business, sold it to this guy named John. We had an issue with a leak from our overflow drain that leaked downstairs to another unit. He recommended ripping out everything to be safe!! New tub, new tile etc. His quote...anywhere from over $5000 and up!!!! We called another plumber and his quote was only $400+ and that included changing our overflow and drain and sealing it, and fixing the pipes which are corroded and close up the dry wall in the ceiling below!! I intended to go with a cheaper option that I found, but spoke with John to get a quote and felt better going with LCD Plumbing. He knew alot about the plumbing issues in my building, to the point where he knew my building maintenance manager by name, and was experienced with the issues that I was having as one of the corner units on my floor. He was able to fit me in the next day - showed up pretty much right on time, and called 15 mins before the appt time to let me know he was on his way. Pros: I received a return call pretty early the same day from the owner. There was someone he could send. The plumber working with/for him was pleasant to talk with and courteous, kept me informed on timing, and showed up when he said he would about 4:30 p.m. He was very considerate and pleasant to work with. Cons: The owner is not very pleasant to talk with. He charges double on the weekends and late hours. His worker, the plumber, couldn't fix the drainage problem as the only "snake" machine he had brought with him broke and wasn't working right. Hence, he told my husband that he'd come back with another bigger cable if we couldn't get anyone else to come out that evening. Around 6-6:30 p.m. that evening, I text him back to tell him we couldn't get anyone else to come out that night and that the earliest would be the next morning, so if he could come back with a different bigger cable, that we would greatly appreciate it. Beware of Low Cost Drain Plumbing. 3522 Hinahina Street 808-753-0651 So the owner in unit 305 calls for plumber. She randomly just looked for one and took the first one who could come to unclog her drain The guy John just moved back from Las Vegas. Unfortunately he had absolutely no Aloha. He pushed her third floor clog down to the second floor and the unit below her started to overflow rather than pushing the clog all the way out. He then wanted to charge the second floor unit to move the clog down to the first floor. He probably wanted to then charge the first-floor unit to move the clock down to the main drain. I've been a building manager for 35 years and I manage three different buildings and this is the first time I've ever seen this. If we were in a 40 story building he'd want to make 40 house calls and write 40 invoices. He did do his job. He serviced the 3rd floor tenant and pushed the cloginto the central pipe. That is after all his entire legal contract. So I'm not going to fault the guy in any way whatsoever. But this is just so that anybody who hires this guy knows there is no Aloha in him at all. There may be a million people in Hawaii but it is a small community so I wish him luck; but I have to tell this story so the rest of my Island Ohana can live in peace and not receive the Las Vegas hostage plumber.
