Unclogged Our bathroom sink was unexpectedly clogged earlier this week; the water was at a standstill...it would not drain at all from the sink. Faced with such a stressful and inconvenient situation, we called (as we have done in the past) Rayo Plumbing. My mother left a message on morning of Tues 6/23, they returned our call later that day, and thankfully we were able to secure an appointment for this morning, Wed 6/24. Brandon was punctual and arrived at 9:00am. We again shared our problem with our sink and that the water didn't drain, and he got right work diagnosing the problem and set to work on resolution. He "snaked" the drain, was able to remove any "problem" which led to the clog, and restored the faucet and sink t working order. He was also able to resolve a leaky faucet in our secondary bathroom. In the end, we felt the price point was reasonable, and we were extremely grateful, as well as thankful, that he was able to help us this morning. side NOTE I was unaware that my mom had placed a call to Rayco Plumbing yesterday morning, and so I had sent out a request for quotes/service using the Yelp app. I was thankful that multiple businesses responded to my request, but I felt bad in the end for wasting people's valuable time. We had a leak in our main water line and had to shut the water off to our home. It was Veteran's Day and I wasn't sure I would be able to get a plumber to come out on a holiday. I contacted a few plumbing companies and Gary from Rayco Plumbing came to take a look at the issue and give us an estimate that day for no charge (after normal business hours on a holiday). Gary was professional and friendly. He explained what would be involved in replacing the pipe. The leak was coming from the connection point on the main line (see circled area in photo). To make things just a bit more complicated, they would need to cut away some of cement footing. But not a problem, they were equipped and prepared to do it without compromising our brick wall. He was able to send guys out the next morning so we didn't have to go without water over the weekend. Brandon and another guy worked most of the day replacing the pipe and putting in a new valve. By the time I got home from work they were cleaning up. We had water, a great looking new copper pipe and new a valve!! What the what?! A plumber with "office hours" listed until five, yet answers the phone at 9:30 PM on a Sunday?? Here's the problem: Our plumbing was backing up into our house. Google helped us to figure out that we should release the main drain at the outside of the home, which is brand new construction btw. Once we released the drain, all the sewage in the house drained out (It was gross; use your imagination here). Our builder even came out to investigate if his plumber was the cause. Nope. Turns out it's the main sewer line and only a professional with an auger will do. We did get a nation-wide company that sounds like Shmoto-Smooter to commit to coming out next day (even though they first said they could come out same night) but we really prefer to stay local. Will definitely recommend these guys to anybody who has any plumbing issues. Like the other five star yelpers, I found them to be very responsive, professional and knowledgeable in their field. I didn't have an emergency but it was time to fix the main shut-off valve outside and change out the shut-off valves on the inside sinks and toilets and replace the wax seal for the toilets. Even though it wasn't an emergency, Gary called me within the hour and sent Brandon and Cyrus to get me an estimate when I got home from work that day. The estimate was prepared and emailed to me the next day. After discussing with my husband we decided to do everything discussed, even changing out the pressure regulator, which I didn't know was an issue until after they changed it out. Now we don't have water all over the place after washing dishes or get soaked after turning off the outside spigots. We were very impressed with how they left everything after the work was done. UPDATE 2/18/2019: Gary tried to bully me - HA! He asked me to call him through Yelp. He first tried to convince me that we did not have all the facts, and even claimed that they went back several times at no cost, when they only went back once and flushed a few buckets of water down and disappeared. When I asked him why after taking $5000 from my in-laws and the sewer backflowed again within days, he did not have the decency to use his camera to figure out where the real problem was and then clear the drain like the other company easily did later (instead he told my in-laws that they had to do a bigger job), with no answer he said: "You obviously have no clue about what you're talking about, let's just handle this in court ok?" and hung up. WHAT? Note that I never mentioned about legal action in the conversation (yet!), and he brought this up trying to intimidate me. Sure! Junvenile! My lawyer will be very glad to give him a lesson and claim all the costs. Wonder how many dissatisfied customers that they've bullied. ------- I'm writing this so that others especially the elderly would not fall prey to Rayco's unethical practice again. If you wonder why they claimed to have been in business for 30 years and only have 16 reviews (watch out for new fake reviews!) -at least in my in-laws' case, they're elderly and did not dare to complain about them "because everybody knows everybody in the island", and they did not want to get into trouble for complaining. Well, not me. My father-in-law has been hospitalized for over 20 days now and still in the hospital because of what Rayco did, and I have record of the phone calls from my mother-in-law that they ignored. Two plumbers after them confirmed that their work was not needed and did not fix the problem, and I have dated video recording of the clog sewer a couple of weeks after their $4500 "repair work". If Rayco has an issue with my review here, feel free to message me directly. But I'll for sure pursue this through the Contractors' Board, BBB, as well as other legal venue if my in-laws are contacted and/or harassed due to this. NOW FOR WHAT RAYCO DID TO MY ELDERLY IN-LAWS: My in-laws initially hired them to clear a sewer drain blockage about a month ago. They charged my in-laws over $350 to supposedly clear out the drain, and then another about $4500 to supposedly repair/replace the problem pipes. The day that Gary the owner came in to ask for the final payment immediately after the job, he hinted to my in-laws that they probably needed to do another even bigger repair job to truly fix the problem, which left my in-laws confused. He took the money and left the old pipes at the house, when they're supposed to remove them per their quote. Several days later the toilet backflowed with toilet/fecal sewer water. It went all the way into their master bedroom carpet, and my elderly in-laws had to frantically clean up the mess. When my in-laws called Rayco about the problem, they sent someone to come flushed 5 buckets of water down the toilet to "fix" the problem. It back-flowed again a couple of days later, and Gary suggested that they had to do the bigger repair job that he proposed earlier. When my in-laws argued that they're supposed to provide the warranty for the repair, Gary said that if they could prove that it's "his pipes" that caused the problem, then he'd gladly come back to fix it. Really? He charged $350 to clean out the blockage and $4500 to "repair the sewer problem", and it backed flow within days and that's not his problem? When my in-laws declined to do the "bigger job" immediately, Gary stopped responding to them. He basically abandoned them with a non-functioning plumbing system, perhaps as a way to force them to do the bigger job. My father-in-law got pneumonia possibly from the foul water smell and all the stress a couple of days after frantically cleaning up the fecal backflow, and had to be ambulanced to ER. Since my father-in-law has been in the hospital, I called two plumbing companies with HIGH number of good yelp reviews. The first one came and assessed that the so called "repair job" (the $4500 one) was not necessary (and obviously did not fix the problem) as the problem was further down. Since they did not have the right camera with them, I called the 2nd plumbing company and they camera-traced and videotaped the location of the blockage, and cleared the clog for less than the $350 that Rayco charged to do just the clear out without the video camera service (which did NOT fix the blockage). And my in-laws have no sewer problem since. Like I said, I have all the records of the whole situation and unlike my in-laws, I happen to have a family retained lawyer and am fully prepared to deal with them if I have to. I'm doing this without my in-laws' knowledge as I don't want anybody else to have to go through what my wife (who just came back from Hawaii to deal with this) and her family have gone through. read more

We have used Rayco Plumbing twice now for issues at the parents house. In both cases, when I called to make an appointment, Gary called me back within minutes and was super nice about diagnosing the issues over the phone with me and then scheduling someone to come out at a convenient time. The first time was for a plugged sewer line that had the bathrooms in the house backing up, so it was kind of an emergency. Called late morning and Cyrus came out that afternoon and cleared it all the way out to the street for us. I needed a broken shower valve changed inside the wall of my shower and also the fixtures replaced with new ones that I had purchased. I called a couple of other plumbing companies and was given an over the phone quote for the job which they said would require cutting a hole in the kitchen drywall behind the bathroom shower. They said it was the only way they could get to the shower valve and replace it with a new one. Thank goodness I called Rayco Plumbing and spoke to Richard. He said that they could cut into the kitchen wall but that their plumber might be able to do the job from the tub side wall. He said the plumber would make the call but that it wasn't for sure that they had to cut the kitchen wall. Brandon arrived and checked out the job and said he could do everything from the tub side without having to damage the kitchen wall. He did a very professional looking job and covered the tub with tough plastic to protect it while he worked. The best part was the final price. It was about $350 less than the other two quotes for the same job, and the other companies had wanted to make more damage that they said I would have to repair. If I had wanted to have the kitchen wall repaired with them, I would have to pay a drywall guy to fix it. An additional cost over the quote they gave. I was referred to Rayco Plumbing by Hirayama Plumbing (another 5-star plumber IMO) because Rayco deals with sewers. My sewer backed up my toilet and my shower drain at 11PM the night before water seeping from behind the toilet, towels laid out everywhere to keep the damage to a minimum; just so very exhausting and stressful. From the minute I called Rayco Plumbing, they were nothing but professional and courteous and responsive. Gary does everything electronically and he informed me their show up window is within 1-2 hours, unlike some cable companies that say they'll show up between 8am and 5pm. He called me back in less than an hour to let me know he dispatched Cyrus to my location. Cyrus is very professional and knowledgeable. I don't want to publish their starting rate but it is not unreasonable to me. After snaking our main line, he then proceeded to clean up with Simple Green! I think he left the bathroom cleaner than he started with! Payment is convenient - remember everything electronic? I appreciate how technology makes everything so easy. I noticed a leak in my front yard. I called a couple Plumbing companies, where Gary (Owner) was the first out of them all to call back. He made it a priority to make it out to my home to give me an estimate the same day (even tho it was a Friday, he made it a point to fit me in before he ended his day). Quick response from Richard and didn't have to wait weeks for an appointment like other places we've called. We had our kitchen sink sewer line snaked out due to it draining into adjoining bedroom for a long time. Problem was solved and we were relieved!
