I was visiting Charleston with my wife and just had to stop at the Harley Dealership ( it's almost mandatory as a Harley owner ) great selection of new and used bikes and a decent size store so you can add another t-shirt to the the collection. Went in here to have a look and maybe get a test ride of the new street glide. Not one person asked me if they could help me. I did get a look at them and was in there a while, looking at the new bikes. Maybe it was because I actually went in there on a motorcycle and was carrying a helmet !!! all other customers appeared to be in four wheeled vehicles. This is being written with a heavy heart as I have never once had a bad experience at a Harley Dealership. I came into the dealership today to sell my 2017 Road Glide Special. Prior to leaving my house, 1.5 hours away from the dealership I called to make sure that it was not busy, and that the were willing and able to purchase my bike. I was asked if I might think about a trade from the Floor Manager Josh. I explained that my main focus was to sell my bike but if there was a bike there that was absolutely so attention grabbing and the numbers worked out just right I'd be willing to trade my bike in but the main purpose of the visit was to sell my bike. I gave him the exact details of what my bike was and the condition. He spoke with one of his superiors and agreed that the dealership was prepared to purchase my bike regardless of the trade. Just prior to loading up my bike on my trailer i called and spoke to Josh again to confirm what was discussed before I took the trip and he agreed that we were good to go. I arrived everything was business professional as normal and expected. Me by an awesome sales rep Drew, and Josh. Josh was pressed about the trade more than me selling my bike but that's normal I myself have been a car sales manager so I expected it and it did not bother me nor was Josh too pushy about the trade. He just kept back at it. So after the bike was lnspected by thier tech, who also was an awesome tech, I was given a trade allowance a bit lower than what I and already expected. Meaning I knew the trade allowance was not going to be anywhere near retail as the dealership does need to make a profit, and I was ok with that. The trade allowance was sabout 2k off from what I was expecting so I then expected to outright sell my bike. I was told by Josh that the GM didn't want to purchase my bike, "there's not a market for the 2017 RG with your mileage". This was the exact opposite of what was told to me by him prior to leaving my house. So now after he said that I went over all that was said, a d that for the past 30 days I've been watching Cycle trader, and the Harley websites to monitor thier used inventory and see what been selling. We discussed that the 17' RG was in fact selling at an appropriate rate and for a descent price retail. Hence why I would not be upset about thier offer. Which was Zero. This was hands down one of the most disrespectful sales encounters I've ever experienced. We're not in the 80s or 90s where The "Bait & Switch" works nor am I desperate for a buck. My time and fuel were wasted, I was disrespected and felt like I was treated as if I was ignorant after informing Josh that I was a car sales manager myself and understood there's more benefit for the dealership to trade my bike in. The only part of this transaction done right was Kaitlyn the sales manager was extremely professional in her absolute attempt to make the experience better. Her conflict resolution methods were spot.on. She is absolutely fit for her role as she addressed the issue, explained why the dealership has thier protocols and what they were. The problem still revolved around the fact that they would not be able to purchase my bike. The GM or GSM did not make an attempt to make contact even after all was said and done. This is definitely not the HD Standard nor would it be considered appropriate at any othher location. I have rode to a lot of HD dealerships on Long rides as far as Missouri Rhode Island Florida etc. Every visit has been none less than amazing until today. I wish this team the best in their future endeavors and maybe some retraining should fix this issue. read more

In 2022 I began the process of buying a bike through Lowcountry Harley. I also began speaking with their mechanics about engine upgrades I wanted done. I spoke with three separate mechanics on three separate occasions. Long story short, they were either not knowledgable (one even admitted he knew nothing about compensators), or they were rude and acted like they didn't care that I was ready to spend thousands of dollars at their shop. Fast forward to June 2023, after having purchased my bike at another dealership out of town, and having the work done there as well, I stopped back into Lowcountry Harley to get a quad ring gasket. First the kid in the parts department brought out the wrong part, after I had already told him it was a 2022 Fat Bob quad ring gasket for my derby cover. Then after looking it up, he shows me the computer screen part number and asks if it's right this time. Shouldn't he know? Isn't that what the computer catalog is for? Then when he's checking me out, he starts asking for my phone number, name, email, etc. I politely tell him I don't want to start an account, but just purchase the part. So he tells me they have to get this info for every purchase. I politely said they don't need it. He then says that they "are required to keep track who buys parts." I again say no and of course he still sells me the part. When I said I don't want to give all that info, all he had to say was "sure, no problem." But instead he argues with me not once, but twice. I can't understand how no one at this place has any people skills. With Harley sales and business being down all over the country, you'd think they'd bend over backwards to be polite and welcoming. Instead they act like they don't care and would rather argue about getting my name and email for a nine dollar part. I'm done with this place for good this time. It's a long way out, but try Moonshine Harley in Tennessee. They did amazing custom engine work for me, AND their customer service is awesome. read more

I brought my bike in to address a carburetor issue. Yes there are a few carburetor bikes still around. When I got home the issue popped up again. Jimmy Bass, the service manager sent a trailer out to fetch my bike, called on a veteran mechanic, added a few parts, said sorry didn't get it right the first time and there was no charge. Take your business elsewhere. I had recently sold my super bike and was in the market for a cruiser. I stopped by the dealership and walked in the front door. Nothing. No "welcome" or "how can we help you" or even a simple hello. The lady inside the bank teller booth by the front door couldn't even put down her phone. Ok. Walked into the merchandise area and the gal at the cash register didn't say a peep. Once again she was more interested in her phone. I was also dumbfounded to see they don't carry riding boots. After making the rounds there I went back into the service department. Once again crickets. The one guy there couldn't even be bothered to look up from his computer to even acknowledge I was there. He wasn't even on the phone with another customer. After about five minutes he finally noticed me walking around and kind of grunted/snorted something that I think was some type of greeting and went back to whatever was on his computer. The parts department wasn't that impressive either. There wasn't a handlebar display for trying out different handlebar sets and styles. There wasn't an exhaust display showing the different OEM exhausts or Screaming Eagle exhausts. Half the boxes and packages on the shelf were sun faded from Harley orange to a pale yellow and pretty dusty. After making my rounds there I headed to the showroom floor only to see 3 employees in a heated argument or something. When they finally noticed me they didn't even try to take it behind closed doors or be somewhat professional and tone down the argument. They just glared at me as if I was being an inconvenience to them. I hung around for another 20 minutes or so before the vibe I was getting from the employees was I was there wasting their oxygen and I left. No one said "bye" or "come back soon" or even made a final attempt to assist me or ask why I was there. I could understand if they were busy or had a bunch of things going on but the place was dead and I was the only customer there. Feeling defeated I called a riding buddy and they suggested I go to American Biker over in Ladson. So I left Low Country's parking lot and headed there. It was a complete 180 at American Biker from the experience at Low Country. Needless to say a few hours later I rode out of American Biker with a very nice Indian Chieftan. read more

This review is long overdue. Every time we go into this Harley Davidson dealership I keep hoping that the customer service will get a little bit better. Well after three visits it hasn't. The 3 star review is only for the sales area in regards to merchandise not the bikes. Somebody needs to teach the sales staff over in the merchandise department about what Harley Davidson customer service is all about. It's about the customer, hence "customer service". Harley riders and owners are known to spend thousands of dollars not only on their bikes but on their gear as well as their clothing. Your attitude and lack of customer service is going to kill your sales for Harley Davidson in the Charleston area. Not a great Way to represent the all American Harley Davidson product!!! Our experience three times in a row was as follows: There was about 3 to 4 girls standing by the register just chatting amongst themselves, no offer to help, no "hey how are you doing? We were looking exclusively for a new leather jacket for my husband, also we were looking for gifts for other Harley riders, this would've been a big ticket sale if somebody could have even bothered to ask us if we needed any help. The customer service for Harley Davidson that we've experienced in other areas has been nothing but exceptional. The service department was wonderful when my husband took in his bike to have service done. Really hate to write this review, but I think it's only fair to be truthful about our experience in the store three times now. I want to be sure that I reinforce that the bad review is only for merchandise area for the clothing etc. Not the parts or service department. Or the sale of the bikes, although we did look at several bikes and didn't even receive again "hey hello how are you doing?" Terrible. If and when we ever do decide to trade the bike or purchase another one, we will NOT purchase a bike from Lowcountry Harley Davidson. Experience with this particular store has not been a good one. This Harley store should take a good look at what Harley Davidson considers good service by visiting Thunder Mountain Harley Davidson in Colorado!! Very disappointing. Again I want to give a shout out to the service department and parts department. My husband said that they were excellent and we both received excellent customer service. Once again you expect to have superior customer service when you're paying for anything Harley Davidson. We have been told from several people in the Charleston area that my husband rides with that this Harley Davidson store doesn't really have great customer service. This might be due to the fact that they do have a monopoly in Charleston, as being the only Harley Davidson dealer in the Charleston area. Too bad, maybe my husband and I need to open up a new Harley Davidson store in the Charleston area to give them some competition. Another average dealer. The apparel side of the house not a sole in sight to help, but signs everywhere saying ask for assistance. Guess don't want people touching stuff during covid restrictions; great but where's the help? Just one lady at the register and prices here were high $21.95 for a bandana I recently bought elsewhere for $12. Bike prices were decent, just a touch high but not highway robbery like some we've seen. Nice selection of sporty thru touring. Salesmen seemed completely uninteresting in talking to anyone but themselves. Some nice displays and it's a pretty spacious place. Right at freeway exit so easy to access. read more

I was also told the tires were good. The tires were literally 12 years old and I had to replace both. I explicitly asked if they'd assure the tires were in good condition. They were setting me up to die on the freeway. Do NOT trust them, they prefer money over the riding community and money over safety. read more

I'm a bit confused reading some of the negative reviews mentioning the staff. My experience was one of polite, friendly, helpful, outgoing staff. I went to Low Country Harley Davidson to pick up a new t-shirt while I was working in town. My old Low Country Shirt is 26 years old. It's the one shirt I won't get rid of. As I walked into the large, beautiful, and spacious Showroom, I was politely greeted and asked if I'd like a cold water. It was a typical southern day in the early summer... Hot and humid. As I walked around I noticed they had an FXBRS (Breakout with the 114 Milwaukee 8). I hadn't seen one in person, as my local dealerships in California can't keep one in stock. So I was checking it out and was approached by a salesman. He asked if I had any questions and I promptly informed him that I was't in the market for a new bike as I had recently purchased an FXFBS in Los Angeles. He quickly responded, 'great, congratulations! It's a great bike.' He then asked me if I wanted to sit on the Breakout and continued by making small talk about the bike and being generally friendly. After our talk, I headed over to the clothing area, and again, the ladies there couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. I purchased my t-shirts and left. A few days later I went back in to pickup a shirt for my gal, and again, everyone was attentive and friendly. Another salesman came up and asked if he could be of any assistance, so like the previous one, I told him I was from L.A. and not in the market for a bike. No problem with him either. He struck up a conversation asking what brought me to Charleston. Asked if I had seen the sights. Just being a personable guy. The showroom is great. Layout is fantastic. Staff couldn't be nicer and more helpful. Just a great all around experience. If you're in the market for a new or used Harley. Parts. Service. They have a great selection of Harley clothing and gifts that are wonderful gifts for any bike person in your life that you need to shop for. They have so many items that it is hard to choose from sometimes. I really like the vibe of this location and have been there for several events and specials and have always enjoyed myself each time. They staff here is great and willing to help you with anything you need or answer any questions you may have. Went to Summerville seeking real estate and found myself in beautiful South Carolina without my MC....so I sought an HD dealer who would provide me with a rental....hail, Low Country HD. Thankfully I was also able to borrow a helmet (which I always use).... I made my reservation and was able to start cruising within 20 minutes of arriving to pick up my ride. Matt was gr8...suggesting routes and providing me with local flavor details. There was no hesitancy (which I have experienced before), in sending out a precious HD with a woman!!! Thanx. Beautiful bikes. Nice spacious show room. Great sales help. Mr. K. is the go-to guy. They also offer rider lessons at $275.00 $99.00 for uniformed personnel. Military, cops, EMT, etc. The location is right off of HWY 526 on Dorchester Rd. 1 minute from the freeway. There's no excuse not to go here. They also offer free test rides all day long. Bring your license and protective gear. Lots of accessories too. One stop shopping. Oh! I almost forgot. July of '12 our Bette, 1100 Aero Shadow, broke down on the side of the highway in unbearable heat. We called Honda, but the tow was on it's way to Beaufort. So, I insist hubby to call Harley on Dorchester because while growing up my parents rode (Harley). "You never leave a rider, no matter the bike, stranded." Not only would they not pick our bike up, for extra cash for the few blocks down to Honda/Ducati and responsibility for our bike waived, not even a number for a tow truck. We've journeyed in the States and in the UK. Same bike etiquette! (I've already heard this dealership/HQ's stance they can't help other bikes for legal reasons. Yeah. Ok.) The staff is friendly and helpful. I ride a Buell, which they claim to keep parts in stock for, but they had to order spark plug wires, which seems like a pretty basic thing to have in the back. The service department is knowledgeable, but the lead time that I was given on my order was pushed back by 3 days and no one called to let me know or give me a status update. I felt like I was working really hard to get something I paid for from them. This location offers motorcycle safety riding courses and rentals for those with a motorcycle license. read more

I lost my son 10 months ago and I was trying to do a rider to ride on my sons Harley-Davidson motorcycle. I went to Low Country suggested by a friend for help and I understand that they are new so they sent me to North Charleston Harley since they were around for a while. We walked in and was met by a gentleman that tried to help by asking his finance manager questions. At no time did we see her and was told we would have to call Harley Davidson Financial office to get help. We went home and called who we were told to call and they told us it had to be done at the dealership. We had to call Rockin Roll Harley in Ohio-to finally get help in transferring the loan into our name. And we currently live in South Carolina. Being a first time owner of a Harley Davidson I am very unhappy that we had to call Ohio to get help where my son bought his bike before his death. And then I found out that the same man owns four of the Harley Dealerships around me. If I need service I really don't know where to go. The sales people were very friendly, no complaints for the sales department. I bought a new new bike and had a great experience but when I went the next day to look at some accessories and parts, the parts department ignored me, so I walked out. Went back again a few days later and I had to ask the parts person to help me even though I was standing in front of him at the counter. When I asked about a USB charger for my bike, he just pointed at the wall and said they are over there. I went to see if I could find it and could not. I went back up and asked again and he said on the wall, I got pissed and said never mind and started to walk out, one of the other people who works in the department saw this and came to show me, on a different wall, and helped me figure out what I wanted. I also wanted to inquire about buying stage 1 exhaust and the service department acted annoyed when I was asking questions. I thought I would better service, I mean I just bought a 27000 dollar bike. Anyway, parts and service need to have training in customer service. read more

I have been warned over and over not to take my bike to low country. Even when I was part of their HOG group other members told me not to let them work on my bike. Up till now I have always had the service plan with them and the service has always been awesome. This time I did not have their maintenance plan and the experience was totally different. L is the service writer who greeted me. He was very professional and knowledgeable on what I needed done to my bike. I was a diesel mechanic for 25yrs and am a strong believer in having genuine parts put back on my bike. I needed an oil change a rear tire and the mechanic said I needed my brake system flushed, BUT nothing about an exhaust leak. I told them to go ahead and do everything which cost me $585.91. I picked up my bike and the technician wrote down that I had damage to my exhaust crossover pipe. I did not have an exhaust leak When I took the bike in BUT NOW I get to ride around with one. I called and told L about the leak and he talked to the technician as well as checked the computer to see everything that had been done to the bike. He informed me that they did not need to remove the pipe in order to do any work. I still have an exhaust leak that was not there when I took it in. It is unfortunate that the service writers are the ones that have to deal with the customers when a technician damages something and decides to lie about it. L and Jimmy are the only reason I even darken the doorways of that place and now thanks to some dill hole I will never be back again. read more

Any question I asked too..It was comical after awhile.I had a small issue with the brakes and ended up wasting 165+ dollars after being told a flush would fix the problem. It didn't. The best reasons 2go 2 LCHD is Rodney, Dave, Fletch and Trip. All good guys who don't bull shite just to sell u something. Well, maybe just a little 2 keep their job. A very little, though!!!! The second best reason is the service department MOST of the time. It's always best to double check anyway, but most of the guys and 1 gal are spot on. I just remembered the wonderful clothing girls...they do a wonderful job. Sales are OK. I don't usually like people after my money, but listen carefully and u might fair better than most. I first Went to Low Country about 18 years ago, over that period of time I've had the pleasure of meeting some really friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful folks.
