Well, I called to get a tire put on. They are very rude and They told me to drop it off. They can get to it when they have time so I dropped it off on a Monday. Went back on a Thursday still wasn't done I understand they're not a maintenance shop, but they do offer this service when I walked in on Thursday there was no one in the shop and they were just standing around talking this place, definitely needs new employees will not be going back read more

Typical corporate nonsense:  I spent a WHOPPING $700 + on a helmet to protect myself while riding (this is full price by the way, good luck ever getting the specific helmet you want on sale), and Cyclegear put this expensive order in the hands of FedEx for shipping purposes. After a few days the tracking information shows that it is stalled and not moving between destinations. When I contacted FedEX to find out what's going on, they freely admitted that the shipment is lost and at some point between transfers was not scanned in, even though the trucks that were moving it reached their destinations. They informed me that they could do nothing unless Cyclegear submitted a claim or a ticket on behalf of the delivery.  I contacted Cyclegear to get them to resolve this issue and of course, they pulled the same old Corporate nonsense. "we can't do anything about this. I don't know what FedEx is talking about. We can't submit any tickets. I don't have access to those systems." yadda yadda yadda. just stonewalling me while holding over 700 of my hard earned dollars.  I then explained to them that the North Charleston Store here appears to actually have the helmet in question in stock, and that I would just go and pick my helmet up from that store's inventory. just refund me for the Helmet i ordered and I will repurchase there since it's available. i PAID for this helmet in full. you HAVE what I paid for. just let me pick it up since your shipping failed.but no. of course not. Cyclegear sees fit to take my money and give me NOTHING AT ALL in return. No recourse. Cyclegear is taking no action to resolve this, just leaving the lost helmet eternally in limbo with FedEx and offering me no compensation. Something that would be so simple to solve becomes impossible because some stooge in an office hiding behind a phone is too lazy to fix it.  This is a lifelong boycott. I am an avid motorcyclist who lives covered in motorcycle gear, and I will never spend money with Cyclegear, Revzilla, J&P cycles or any of their puppet shell companies ever again. And if that helmet ever does arrive (which I seriously doubt it eve will, FedEx was clear on this) I'm immediately returning it. You will never get my money again, because you lack the basic skills to deal with simple situations in a fair and courteous way, and that is unforgivable for a retail business. read more

Went to the Cycle Gear on Rivers Avenue to get a helmet for my son. The sales rep, Dewayne, was not pushy or overly aggressive and did a good job fitting the helmet to my son's head. He didn't steer us towards the most expensive stuff and he respected that I am an experienced rider myself and understood the features and differentiators between each brand and model (I went through an extensive helmet comparison recently). As always, prices were fair. The store has a great selection of stuff ranging from casual to track oriented to dirt, I was honestly surprised to see so much track stuff there, and pleasantly surprised. I stopped in looking for bicycle accessories and equipment. Shortly after entering I realized this place sells motorcycle gear and not bicycle gear. Nevertheless the gentleman working in the shop offered prompt assistance and advised they don't sell anything for bicycles. I did however notice that they sold motorcycle helmets, jackets, gloves, and other accessories. The shop was very neat and organized, I'd recommend stopping by if in need of motorcycle gear. read more

Hubby got a catalog in the mail and decided to "Surprise me" with a new armored leather jacket. It's been 18 months since our near death accident so I'm not totally ready to get back on a bike. We pulled up to the cycle gear store and I thought to myself "why are we here"? Upon entering to the store, we were immediately greeted with great BIG smiles by Coby and Josh. Coby asked us if it was our first time in the store and gave us a tour. He was very receptive and helpful. He answered all of our questions and when my husband told him he wanted to buy me a new armored Leather Jacket, Coby showed us different options from the most expensive to the sales rack. ( Kudos! You know us city girls are always looking to save a buck on the clearance racks). After my husband picked out my new Bilt Jacket, we purchased the Leather Lotion to protect it since it does have a 5yr warranty!! These guys really know their stuff and are willing to share their knowledge with their customers. I felt so at ease that I agreed to get back on a bike again, but only if my husband dresses me like the Michelin man! Cycle Gear is located on Dorchester Road, easily accessible from I26, 526, or local roads. It has a private enclosed parking lot with plenty of parking that protects you from busy street traffic. This cycle gear is a great place to go for deals and good conversation. The staff is knowledgeable and they help you out a lot! I was looking for a helmet and Tyler took a lot of time out to help me find one that was perfect for me. Once I chose one, he put it together for me so it was ready to go when I was ready to ride. I've been here many times in the past two years and have made many friends with the people who work there. It's always a great trip. Their bike nights are fun as well with food, music, games and prizes. Two thumbs up! read more

It was awesome that there is a Cycle Gear here in Charleston. I used to go to the Cycle Gears back home in California, so was a sigh of relief. Their location is smaller than other CGs, but I'm ok with it. If they don't have it in the store, they can still order it for you. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoy coming to CycleGear, even though I'm always the passenger on the bike, not the rider. I've found great deals on gear going through their clearance and they carry random knick knacks that riders in general will find amusing. I don't talk motorcycle, but the staff seems to really know their stuff and are super friendly when they explain the differences in products to me. read more

Excellent section of gear and equipment at or below internet prices. If they don't have a item in stock they can usually order it in for you in a few days. Most of the store catters to street bike gear and parts but they do have a large selection of leathers and small section of dirtbike gear as well. Every time I go here the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Sometimes I just go to hang out and talk motorcycle. Make sure to sign up for the mailing list and facebook page as this location has a pretty active community of bikers and has some cool meetups. read more

Honestly if I could give zero reviews I would store was a complete mess helmet wall had tons of unfilled holes in it. Glove rack had gloves not even hung up just laying all over the place. I had been walking around for at least 15-20 minutes and was not offered any help at all finally I asked a in training girl if she could look something up for me and she had absolutely no idea what to do or what kind of bike I was talking about and then another dude came over to help her and I told him I needed an oil filter he was able to look it up in the book and found it on parts unlimited I told him I needed it ordered and he said parts needs a 50$ minimum to order from them I said yeah i know that because I use to do merchandising at cycle gear so I know how to do it I told him that you just also order something for store use and you put it on the so card he said well you would have to pay the 50$ minimum I was like no I don't that's not true I don't have to pay the 50$ minimum I have never heard of that before seems like the staff needs to be educated on how to do a special order on a so card I even tried showing them how to do everything and they still couldn't get it so I just decided to leave.......... read more

The helmet I purchased on sale broke three days after I bought it, I was given four options, 1. Keep the broken helmet 2. Return the helmet for a refund 3. Order a replacement helmet 4. Buy a helmet equivalent to the sale price I chose to replace the current helmet. The manager said it would take a few days to get, and that I would have to leave my current helmet with the store. This left me the choice of keeping my broken helmet or riding home with out one. His reasoning was " If you get into an accident I'll be stuck with a unwarrantable helmet The manager would rather my bare head be injured than have a helmet that he cant warranty out. I will never shop here again read more

Okay, this place is flippin awesome! I give it a 7 star, just for the fact that they go the extra mile. Customer service is so amazing, that I cant ever wait to go back again. it doesnt matter if you are 6 or 60, they have something for you. The whole entire staff treats you how people should be treated. Need an item thats not in store? They will be searching for it, and ordering it if they have to. Amazing deals here. Some stuff is expensive, but you get what you pay for. Do you want something that will last a bit longer, then shop here! I travel from Johns Island, and it is worth this trip. Thank you for your selfless customer service actions! I dont know if they put their employees through business school, and mechanics certification but they act like they are more than qualified to work there. read more
