We took the Sip & See Tour. Overall we had a good time, but a few things could have been better. For starters, we were told to meet the trolley at 9:15am and we didn't end up getting picked up until closer to 9:40am and didn't leave Charleston until almost 10am. The trolley seats were also pretty uncomfortable given the amount of driving around we did especially with all the bumps due to construction. We also got back a little bit later than we should have, but that was due to a few people in our group not meeting back at the trolley after Angel Oak on time. As for the actual tour, we stopped at the Charleston Tea Plantation, Irvin Winery, Firefly Distillery, & Angel Oak Tree. Both the Irvin Winery & Firefly Distillery are actually at the same location which we didn't realize when booking but it worked out well since we only had about 2 hours there to eat lunch and do tastings in each building. Charleston Tea Plantation and the Angel Oak Tree were definitely the highlights for us. Overall, I would say it is definitely worth the ~$50 if this is your first time in Charleston and/or you don't have a car. For us though, it was definitely one of those things you only need to do once and so next time we'll probably just drive ourselves out to stop at whichever places we want to see again. read more

I love taking cooking classes whenever I visit a new city for an opportunity to get to know the community through the local food. My parents, husband, and I were excited to get a tour of Mount Pleasant. It was raining on and off, but the trolley was completely covered. The biggest reason I was disappointed is that rather than being a tour, it was just a driver and a bunch of advertisements on a tv. The driver was very unknowledgable about the area and the few spots she did know, she didn't offer to stop so that we could get a photo or anything! As for the cooking class, Marilyn at Southern Season was pleasant and provided a lot of useful tips. My dad was disappointed that we only prepared grits with a poached egg and country ham and biscuits. Yes, they were simple, but I'd never poached an egg before! And the biscuits! So light and fluffy and only two ingredients! I would recommend looking into a class at Southern Season and driving yourself there. No need to waste your time with the trolley. read more

This was soooo much fun! We needed transportation for our wedding party of about 30 to and from the church, restaurant, etc. We live in Austin, and I had never visited the area, and honestly didn't know what the possibilities might be. I investigated coordinating ride-share services, pedi-cabs, renting a bus, etc. Enter Lowcountry Trolley, the PERFECT solution! Not only are the prices very reasonable, most importantly (especially if you're doing this from over 1,000 miles away) the SERVICE is absolutely wonderful! Setting it up was a breeze. We had to change the schedule once or twice, and they were completely flexible so easy to deal with. Our driver was equally flexible and made an additional pickup without any notice and I appreciate her accommodation more than anything! She was charming but not intrusive, greeting all of our guests with a beautiful smile and kind words. She was unable to park the large trolley out front of the church, but gave me her cell number and I was able to call when we finished up the rehearsal and were ready to head to the restaurant and was there in less than five minutes. They were so easy to work with and if you need to transport a number of people, or just want something truly special and very "Charleston", you have no need to look any further! The trolley was one of our favorite parts of our wedding! Roger was great to work with for scheduling and was super nice about having to reschedule due to covid. Our driver arrived right on time (early even) and was very polite! You can connect your phone to the speakers so we were singing and dancing the whole ride! Our wedding was on a very hot July day and the trolley was nice and cool! Our entire bridal party wished the trolley ride was longer than it was- we didn't want to get off! I wanted to spread the word about what a unique and wonderful experience we had with Lowcountry Trolley! We wanted something different for our guests since all of them were from out of town. I chose Lowcountry Trolley after seeing some pictures online and knew immediately it was the perfect solution to get everyone to/from the rehearsal dinner. The beautiful white trolley showed up on time and EVERYONE was so pleasantly shocked and surprised that this was our ride! It was so great looking out from our ride from the Charleston Harbor Resort to Mex1 on Sullivans Island. The ride was seemless to and from and honestly it was one of my favorite things about the wedding weekend! Just to see everyone's faces and them enjoying the view and ride. I am not sure where to begin. When I first contacted Terry at Low Country Loop Trolley she was very quick to respond, helpful, and answered any questions I had. They happened to charge the best price in the area but the only catch was having to pay full amount due as the deposit upon signing the contract. All monies are non-refundable. My wedding was in March and I signed the contract in September without knowing how many guests would actually need transportation, but that was my only option because they were getting booked up. When the wedding got closer and number finally came in I realized we did not need the trolley anymore. I knew what the contract stated so I contacted Terry to explain the situation I was in and to ask her about refunds anyway. Figured it was worth a try. As expected, a refund was not possible. I emailed her a bit more to find out if I had any other options as far as a tour or something. This is when Terry was really short with me and not a nice as she was when I signed the contract. Her attitude completely changed and it was my loss and her gain. So we get to Charleston and two days from the wedding she tells me that I still owe her money for reserving the trolley. Please keep in mind that we signed contracts in September and I made sure to ask ask her to verify that the contract was correct, and that the total balance is due at signing. To my surprise, I asked her why I owed her more and she said she did not notice the hours on the contract. At this point I really did not want to pay her another penny so I asked if I could just reduce the hours. Her respond literally was "you can, but you won't get any money back". I had not asked from any money back, just to reduce my hours. I ended up paying a different company more money (more money than I would've had to pay Low Country Loop Trolley) for the additional hours I needed to pick guests up and had low country loop trolley pick us up from the reception. read more

We used Lowcountry Loop Trolley for one daughter's wedding in March 2013 and had a great experience, so decided to hire them again for my second daughter's wedding in October. The second experience was not good. They replaced one trolley with a smaller closed bus. The bus driver hadn't driven in Charleston in years, he said. They did not follow the schedule we gave them and guests were left stranded at their hotels. When they called LLT, they were treated rudely. I contacted Terry after the wedding twice, and never heard back. A partial refund was expected, but just an apology would have been better than nothing. I'm sorry I can no longer recommend this business for wedding transportation. read more

For those who don't want to read the full story, short version: driver didn't know where she was going and left half of our guests behind after the reception (NEVER returned for them or made any attempt to contact us). Long version: Our experience with this service was overall terrible. We initially chose Lowcountry Loop Trolley for the value and the very nice looking fleet of trolleys they have available. Everything about the lead-up was good. They were responsive both via phone and email. They confirmed the route and schedule to be sure everything would work well on the day of. Unfortunately, the day of went anything but smoothly--I am just grateful that my wedding party had separate transportation arranged. The Trolley was supposed to bring my guests from the church to the reception, about an 8 minute trip. With the number of guests, we needed two trips, but since it was a 20 minute round trip and we had a full hour, this should not have been an issue. Then, once the reception was over, the Trolley would make two similar trips to return guests to a nearby parking garage. In taking guests to the reception, the driver got lost due to a broken gps and spent about 45 minutes on the first (should have been 20 minute) trip. The second group of guests almost missed the reception which was on a boat and departed about 15 minutes late in order to be sure everyone made it. Then, rather than return guests as planned, our driver again got lost (at on point asking guests if they could pull up gps on their phones to help), and then she never returned for the remaining group of guests. As if this were not enough, we never received an apology for this. We had to call, following the wedding to ask for some sort of refund. Initially, it sounded like this would be possible. However, we continued calling, frequently leaving voicemails and after 3 weeks of getting nowhere, took the issue to our bank who are handling the claim now. We have still not heard anything from this company. read more

Took my first ride on the Lowcountry Loop Trolley yesterday and had a great time! The driver, Derrick William, could not have been a better host...he knew everything about Charleston, Mt Pleasant, Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, and all parts in between. He gave the passengers good advice about local restaurants and places to visit. Mr. William also got the passengers involved in the tour, answering questions and exchanging stories (we had passengers from Australia, Jamaica, Chicago, and other cities). It was a great time! My husband and I took a vacation to Charleston, SC. We used Lowcountry Loop Trolley to get to and from Sullivan Island. The trolley ran into traffic on the bridge, so I called to see how long the wait would be. I happened to mention that we had a dinner reservation that we were trying to make. We got a call back shortly after saying that the owner of the company was coming to personally pick us up and make sure we got to our reservation on time. Never have we experienced such amazing hospitality and customer service from ANY company before. Terry and her team are incredible! We had booked the Sip and See Distillery Tour. The driver had forgotten 3 people on his previous stop so he took us on a 50 minute ride without asking. When I called to complain I was told by Wayne that we could get our money back but that the driver would be fired. Worse customer service. The driver didn't give any information, and flew down bumpy roads. Save your money and drive there yourself. read more

Economical and great way to see downtown, Mt. Pleasantly, and Summerville areas...only $14 to ride all day!! And the staff is exceptional!!

This company sent the wrong size trolley to our hotel to pick up a large amount of wedding guests and then proceeded to get lost 3 times on the way to the venue. Then they never sent the second trolley to the hotel to pick up the other half of the guests resulting in them finding cabs and almost missing the ceremony. At the end of the wedding they again sent the wrong size trolley resulting in 3/4 of the guests being crammed into the trolley like sardines while the driver continued to be rude and unapologetic. When my friend, the bride, called to inquire as to what happened and what went wrong, the woman on the phone hung up on her. Not only did they completely violate their contract but they did not offer any refunds. Terrible customer service, rude and unreliable. read more

If you want to spend most of your day riding a trolley instead of seeing sights- this is for you! Trolleys are not on schedule and arrive late, which creates a domino affect of lateness and not getting to do what you wanted. Our driver was very friendly, which definitely helped a bad situation.
