I had my vehicle towed there (it's $600 for each tow) and even spoke to someone there, told them what kind of vehicle and what was wrong and was told to bring it in for an estimate. NOBODY told me it would be $158/hour to diagnose...nobody. I even spoke to the mechanic once it was there, someone at the front desk and there was NO mention of this. I read some of the other reviews and I'm getting the sense they definitely take advantage of people if the situation calls for it. I called twice to get a status with no response or call back in that month and a half worth of time. Finally called yesterday and was put on hold a few times (it seemed they were looking into an issue), then a new service writer told me that he just started three days ago, read the notes that said to just "call owner" and says oh gee that would be $158/hour since it wasn't running (nobody at the get go told me that, nor after or since until now) AND my vehicle has been sitting there for a month and a half or more!? I would have made other plans if I knew this. So then to top it off, I get hung up on (I was completely calm on the phone), call back, leave a message and then eventually connect about an hour later. Now all of a sudden he says that the lead mechanic already did 1.5 of work that I'd be charged for and fixed a switch and got it started but won't stay running and needs more work. The lack of communication in this is absolutely astounding and now how do I trust anything!? All I got was an oops sorry nobody called you and told you how much it would be or even gave you anything in writing or authorized any work!? My family owns a shop farther away and that is completely illegal!! I have no choice now but to have them continue and told them to cut it off at a certain amount of hours. I will update once this situation is complete and fairly if resolved. Now I'm skeptical but if I can't at least get the vehicle running to make it to my house, I will have to get another $600 tow. If they can tell me what's wrong with it, even better. I'm hoping for the best and will update once this is resolved.

When I got the car back my headlights did not work. I went back to let them know and left my car there. They said they would take a look. Another week went by and I had to call again to follow up. They said I would need to take the car to Tidewater Auto Electric because of the wiring. I did a quick Google search and it suggested to check the headlight relay and ballasts. I ordered the parts on Amazon and changed them myself. I am not a mechanic and was able to figure it out. The headlights worked after that. They have a Superman figure displayed there at the register. I guess headlight work is Superman's kryptonite. I would be very cautious of the accountability at this shop.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it Wednesday due to being sick, so I dropped my car off early Thursday morning instead. Throughout the day, I called multiple times just to check whether they would be able to look at it. Each time, I was told nothing -- no update, no estimate, no clarity. I even told the front desk that if they couldn't get to it, I would gladly come pick it up so I wasn't taking up their space unnecessarily. When I finally spoke with Chris, the tone and attitude I received were extremely unprofessional. Rather than simply explaining that they were too busy to look at my vehicle, he blamed me repeatedly for them not being able to work on it -- even though no confirmed appointment was ever created, no system entry was made, and no communication was sent to me to establish a scheduled date. A simple "We're booked today, we'll try for tomorrow" would have gone a long way. So I came to this business requesting help and the older female was very short, very rude, and condescending while I explained my situation. Never asked for any information about me or my vehicle just asked that I leave it with no promise to get to it because they were " booked full" to which I could understand. But I could not do such a thing with a child at daycare and a husband at Work. I had no alternative mode of transportation to be sure that I would get my child at the end of his day or get to him in the event of an emergency. My issue is not getting service immediately. I in no way feel entitled to demand same-day service. It was the attitude of the individual that was really offputting for someone who is the face of the business when you walk in. Next, she became very frustrated with what I was explaining, and she said they would not be able to get to my vehicle until Thursday. Which I replied we will be out of town then. She then said something along the lines of I don't even know I can't help you anymore and directed me to the person sitting behind the computer who also said "I don't know either. I just got here." The business had been open for nearly an hour at that point, it was almost 9 AM. The entire interaction was discouraging and borderline demeaning. Additionally, these people don't know who I was they never asked for my name or anything and at this point, I still have not received any email back about scheduling a potential appointment for service. I went down the street to Firestone anyways, and was helped immediately but people much nicer who talked to me with empathy and respect. Something I did not receive at great bridge auto.
