Wow, forty cents less than the gas across the street. Twenty cents less than if I had used my brand name gas card that gives me ten cents off. I don't live in this neighborhood but if I am in the area I will double check my gas gauge. You can't use your phone number at the pump to access your loyalty number. This is a very nice grocery store right across the bridge from Emerald Isle. They have a large selection of beer and other items. The best thing for us was that they had a good selection of premade sandwiches, salads, etc for a quick lunch as you are spending your day between the pool and the beach. Tough Life. Called today for a receipt. The associate said it's better to come into the store to get the receipt. I said that I didn't want to have to come in for that. He then said it was above his pay grade. I told him that was not a good response for customer service. He responded, "Excuse me? I respect your opinion and hope you respect mine." The associate then hung up. I did not originally get a receipt because you ran out of paper and said you would email it to me. I checked my email and did not see anything in my inboxes. I need this receipt to reconcile company expenses and need your support. I do not understand why it could not be done. read more

Cart full of groceries, $300+, no cashiers at all, had to check myself out and bag my own as well! For the prices they charge along with no cashiers makes this place an absolute joke!! Next time I'll leave my cart at the register and walk out. I'd ask others to start doing the same, if enough full carts are left maybe management will get the message! read more

Most amazing grocery store ever. Seriously the best. They have everything. I felt like I was at an amusement park inside because they had all these little stations for meat and baked goods and things. We went out of our way to come here because it's so great. They have an amazing beer selection too and all the employees are so friendly. They have nice, clean bathrooms too btw so that's great. We bought a bunch of alcohol here as well as some snacks and things. Also got us some lottery tickets. We need one of these in Virginia Beach! read more

Understaffed, rude, and not stocked well. Number 6 in line usually... They really like to blame "their trucks". So despite the fact most change their shopping day just to accommodate "their trucks", it's all for naught, they are still out of staples. So then they blame the tourists, but it's February. The Lowe's in Carteret County, is clean and has a welcoming atmosphere due to all of their staff members. There is a huge selection of prepared foods for those who are busy at life. June 6th 9:30pm, this lady was running both her register and the self check out area while some "manager" was just standing there on his phone. I bought beer so I was waiting for my ID to get check, so the lady was trying to ask the manager for some help and check my ID while she was also checking some people out. The "manager" was just on his phone didn't hear her I guess so I had to wait for the lady to finish check out her customer just to check my ID but then the machine timed out so I had to go to her register and re-pay! This particular Lowe's location continues to disappoint me. It is conveniently located by distance from my home in Cape Carteret, but even that is a bit of a problem. The lights and intersections at this particular area are difficult to navigate even during times of low traffic. This area is a tourist destination and in the two times of the year when tourists come along accessing this store is very difficult. The store is well stocked with brand names but, apparently because it is located here in this county, the prices are outrageous. Examples include 5 dollar bags of potato chips and 4 dollars for pound of spaghetti. These, of course, are market pressures. A particular difficulty at this location is the position of the liquor, wine and beer. When customers enter the store that is the first thing that is seen. It contends with the fruit and vegetable display and is rather mortifying. We are struggling with teenage drinking as well as a continuing problem with adults drinking and driving and this sort of display doesn't help much. I wonder about how Lowe's thinks of its role in our community and society. One would think that such difficulties would be counterbalanced by excellent customer service. Not so at this location. Staff appears nervous and touchy. Questions are answered slowly and generally. The management is even worse. Recent contact with the manager in order to straighten out a simple problem with a phone number turned into a customer service nightmare. The manager yelled across the shoulder of the customer they were working with on the phone number problem and called a clerk over to the Self-Service area. The manager refused to correct the difficulty telling the customer to tell the clerk, whenever they came to shop at the store, to keep hitting 'Next' in order to get to the right customer name associated with the phone number. The manager loudly and repeatedly asserted that she could not change the number as the other customer it had become assigned to might have had it first. It would have been comical if it had not been so obvious that the manager was working with a clear case of entitlement in her position. I am sure that Lowe's will take care of the whole thing when the difficulties are made known to them. In the meantime we will continue shopping and looking for bargains. read more

Lowe's advertises Apple, Cherry and Hickory Wood smoked meat; however, they only do Hickory smoked anything! Asking for anything else is problematic. I got attitude asking for Apple wood smoked ribs! Go to Mission barbecue...Or do it yourself! Not worth the attitude and not tasty!! read more

It's a great store and very nice people. The reason I gave them 3 stars: I, like many other people, do not like being watched and stared at and feeling someone's hot breath on me while I'm at self checkout. I completely understand inventory and asset control. However, I do not enjoy feeling someone staring at my every move like I'm some thief. Well, I called to see if they had two items I was already 90% sure they had. The customer service lady immediately picked up. She was polite and asked questions to confirm understanding. Then she put me on hold. After a while, i decided to drive down there, buy what i was looking for and return. A 30 minute round trip. I drove there, saw customer service and how busy they weren't, I asked the first hired person and they directed me to what i was looking for. It takes approximately 15 minutes giving you plenty of time to pick up what else is on the list. My boyfriend and I met my family at the beach house in Emerald Isle last week, and we offered to cook dinner for the house one night. I was happy to see that this nearby Lowe's offered Lowes-to-Go ordering. I placed the order online from home in central North Carolina, and picked up and paid for the groceries as we drove through town. Our order included fresh produce and chicken breasts, and everything was fresh! Our large order was exactly correct, to boot! This was such a great timesaver, and the employees were very courteous and helpful. I highly recommend this store, as well as the Lowes-to-go service. read more

The bar service is slowwww. The bar tenders are too busy talking to each other or customers who have already been served rather than figuring out how many people they can serve. This remodeled Lowe's is awesome! Fantastic selection of everything imaginable. Stylish and the customer service was over the top. Best of all, is the beer and wine bar. Grab a pint and shop still you drop, especially Thursday's when the pints and wine are half price $2.50. Good craft selection. This is a great change and I feel sure the corporate types are very pleased. As customers, we were raving endlessly about the store. If you visit this grocery store I suggest you do not waste your time and money on seafood unless you buy it frozen. On three separate occasions I have bought shrimp, salmon, and scallops from the seafood department only to find out when I get home they were bad. This last time the scallops smelled so bad it made my refrigerator and my house smell! When I returned the items I was given twice my money back which is nice, but I'd rather get food that wasn't bad. I almost always get my seafood from local fish markets such as Willis on Emerald Isle, and Clyde Phillips in Swansboro. It was only for my convenience that I bought at Lowes and I will never buy from them again. There was no mention on any of these occasions that the seafood dept would be notified about the item being brought back, which also bothers me because shouldn't they check on what they have in stock to make sure it's fresh for other customers? Not impressed. I also bought aged ribeyes and asked for 2 steaks about 10 oz each, and was given 1 lb total...so 4 oz less than what I asked for. Next time I will ask to speak directly to the butcher so I can make sure the request is being relayed correctly. read more

I spent a month in NC, studying for my medical boards @ my best friend's house here because there is absolutely NOTHING to distract me from my studies! LoL. Anyways, she doesn't like to shop on base and prefers this store because it reminds her of the awesome grocery stores we have back in Orlando. Now that I am back and visiting my best friend, we went shopping this AM. I have to share that Lowe's is probably the best grocery store in NC! Whenever I step into the spot, I feel like I am back in a big city. When I step out, I am back in the small town in North freaking Carolina (no offense please! LoL). Of course it does not compare to WHOLE FOODS (in Orlando, which i visited a couple days ago), but the quality of the foods here is awesome (and they have ORGANIC section, too!!!). A funny thing is that this grocery store is next to the Lowe's hardware shop! And apparently they are not related! LoL. read more

Bought a pre-cooked Thanksgiving dinner. Was told I would have to warm up turkey. When I got home and read instructions discovered turkey had to be heated for close to 2 hours, negating reason I made purchase. Tag on turkey package read, fully thawed, so I assume it was frozen after it was cooked. Turkey is now in garbage can. Cornbread stuffing was nothing more than wet breading. Could not be eaten. Greenbean casserole had horrible aftertaste. Gave up after two forkfuls. Mashed potatoes might have been edible, but the gravy, which amounted to watered-down grease, prevented me from tasting them. Thank God I didn't spring for the pumpkin pie. read more

Most expensive store in the area. Out of $20 worth of vegetables on sale I spent $2.00 more than Food Lion. I have to drive 8 miles more to get to Piggly Wiggley or Food Lion. I live less that a mile from #181. Their music is so loud you can't wait to get out of the store. I will never go there again. read more
