One of the only spots open past 10pm around the beach, so we came here to stock up the night ebfore for some breakfast fix-ins plus some beach lounging treats. We got some bacon, eggs and sourdough toast to cook up in the morning and then got a case of water and some dried chocolate covered fruit, plus a few varieties of wine. Lowes always has a good selection and fair pricing. Can't go wrong with any red tag items. Since we came a little later, it was not too crowded and we were able to self-check out quickly. So personally I head to Lowes Foods for the Beer Den. The staff is knowledgable and friendly and I can always find new and interesting things to try. $5 flights on Tuesdays and 1/2 Priced Pints on Thursdays make it an awesome deal if you want to grab a pint and sip or take it with you while you grocery shop. Yes, "sip and shop" is a thing! The grocery store itself is great. Clean and always well stocked. I've been going to this store for years since I moved to Wilmington. In recent months, they hired some older woman at the self checkout of my store. she has always made uncomfortable remarks towards me but today she really outdid herself. I'd had an awful day and was just going in for a 6-pack. she comes over, takes a look at my face, and sarcastically says "all smiles over here!" then proceeds to tell me not to drink and drive, which I can only assume is because I'm a younger person with tattoos. Like seriously? I'm legally buying alcohol to consume in the safety of my home...This woman does not interact with guests well, she's overbearing and doesn't know her boundaries as a clerk. I actually went here for the beer den. The employees at the beer den are great. I called to inquire about a specific beer becoming available on draft. The den master Jon took down my number to inform me when it would be available. I happen to arrive at the beer den as soon as the beer became available. Upon leaving the store with two growlers I received a call to inform me the beer was available. The lady laughed once I told her who I was. Great example of customer service! Visiting from Virginia and the battery in my car key died. I was unable to pry it open myself, and other people were unable to do so as well. Found Jake (not from State Farm), the beer and wine distributor, and he was able to help. He went above and beyond his job description with a smile. I love Jake forever!!! I go there for groceries and beer a lot, and every time there are 2 workers there that think my ID is fake and it's getting really annoying if you ask me. I'm 23, never had a fake ID before. Apparently guys love this store. My best friends little brother has been talking to all of his friends like this place is magic. No joke we were having a drink last weekend and he said going here was the coolest thing he did all week. Yes, he was somewhat joking but I did check out the renovated grocery store when I was in the neighborhood tonight. It does look night and day different. The overall space is more wide and welcoming. There is even a growler fill up station with local beer on tap and a large table for store tours/demos. The lights inside are bright but not overwhelming and everything is easy to find. It's local farm to table products without the pretentious prices. If you are a basic bitch and love all things pumpkin you should probably shop here. They have a whole section of the store and tshirts to market "Pumpkintopia" My online complaint was that when I went to get a cart there was trash inside most of them...gross! read more

Ok, this place rules for beer selection, prepared foods, ( sandwiches, pizza slices, etc) and you can shop for every day groceries with a pint on your cart!!!! Okay, I go here cause its close to my home. Prices are as expected. Customer services "sucks" ..... Once in a while I'll hear a welcoming. Tonight was just the last for us. My husband showed up @ 8:35 pm to buy Boar head cold cuts. Guess WHAT??????? The deli was CLOSED!!!! WTH, they are supposed to close at 9:00pm. There was nobody behind the counter and everything back there was cleaned up and shut down He walked around looking for a manager and when he found him the guy seemed confused and guilty of the incident. I wrote a letter regarding a terrible experience at store # 215 which occurred Wed Dec 6. Bob Hays the district manager called me today to apologize. It was obvious he hadn't even read the letter that I took the time to write.      My name is Samuel Saunders cust# 42143236537. I am an unsatisfied customer.  I am taking the time to write this letter due to an incident that occurred at your Lowes Food Store #215.      On Wed Dec 6 approximately 5pm I visited your store. I received an italian pizza at your deli counter. I was asked if I would like it heated up, and I agreed because I was ready to eat it. I had just come from the gym and was hungry. I like the recent remodel of this store. It has great atmosphere, sip and shop, hot pizzas, and sandwiches are great. There is even places to sit down and eat.      After receiving my pizza I continued to shop around. I took a piece of pizza out of the box and began to taste it. I walk towards the juices, near the produce section. I also stopped and grabbed a few napkins from the tables set up to sit and eat or sip.      Here is where my issue begins. As I am looking at juices a man dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and jeans approaches me and says something to the effect of "you better pay for that". I later find out his name is John. I work for Hendricks Automotive Group and I have dealt with thousands of customers over the years. My first thought was that this was a customer joking around with me. I asked him if he was serious and he began to cuss at me so I walked away looking for a manager at the customer service desk. Phil Osborne, the manager that night comes to hear what I have to say. Both Phil and John are looking at me like I was doing something wrong, accusing me of grazing, and letting me know if I do not have money in my pocket I am breaking the law. John then begins to call the police. I put $10 cash on the counter and he hangs up. Phil says things like we appreciate your business, he did nothing to show me that. I walk out the store and put my pizza in the car. I walk back in the store to tell Phil this is not right and ask what is he going to do to make this right. Phil says "we are getting you your change". I did not appreciate that and John called the police back. I state to Phil, "this is what your gonna do to fix this? Call the police?" He literally laughed in my face, taking light of the situation. At this point I left.      My argument is that this store is set up like a restaurant, you hand out samples around every corner. I never left the building with unpaid merch. If it is "against the law" to eat food, you prepared hot for me, before paying for it there should be signage stating just that.      I was only stopped because of the way that I look, BLACK with camo jogging pants and baseball cap. Do you instruct your employees to harass customers eating in the store? I have been a customer of Lowes Foods since 2006. For the last 11 years I have worked at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet right across the street. Today Friday Dec 8 approx 1130 am. I returned to the store in order to speak with a different manager. Phil Osborne was the manager working at the time. He approaches me and I explain that I was looking to speak to another manager above you. Accusing me of getting loud again, I ask him to bring me into a room where we can talk. I mentioned he should have done this the first day If I was being too loud. Phil opens the door to the security office and John is sitting there watching the cameras. John looks up at me and says, "What he want, his money back?" He says it like 3 times in a very disrespectful manner. I state to Phil that John acts like he runs the place. Phil brings me into another room and also calls in Garrett, another manager to hear what I have to say.      I asked them if the employees are instructed to harass customers eating in the store. They say no. I ask if I was doing anything wrong in the store. Phil says "technically" I am not supposed to eat in the store. I ask him what he means by technically. He could not answer that.      Technically means that depending on how you look,  how someone may pre-judge you, will determine if what you are doing is right or wrong. Technically Phil says if you look BLACK or wearing street clothes you are doing something wrong. I know that I wrote a tip about Lowes Foods taking customer concerns seriously, but let me just elaborate on how well that they do this. I was contacted via Yelp by the store owner, who sent me an upbeat message regarding my review and how they may need to improve some things at their store. I was asked for my contact information, which I gave. First, I got a call from Britt. I am very hard to catch on the phone, but I did receive a nice voice mail message from him regarding my concern. I tried to call him back, but could not reach him, which is understandable because store managers are very busy. A day or so later, I received a voice mail from Jeremy. I was able to reconnect with him. He apologized for my experience and told me that the employee was educated on better customer service. Jeremy was so positive! He stated that my concern was a good learning opportunity for the employee. Today, I had the honor of meeting Jeremy. I can understand why he is the store manager. Warm, friendly, and charismatic. We briefly discussed the situation again, and I assured him that I would continue to shop at Lowes. I had a great experience in the store today. Everyone whom I encountered was friendly and helpful. Oh, and the wine guy was there. He is a great asset to Lowes Foods! read more

This was the worst customer service I have ever received in my life. The guy was helping same customer for 20 minutes and there was 3 other people standing there not helping. I just wanted get a simple pound of suasage from over the counter. I finally got so fed up I walked away and had a manager get me some sausage. I go to Harris tetter all the time and receive amazing customer service. I will not go back and spend all day waiting for a pound of sausage. They need to fix the customer service and take some tips from Harris tetter. If you want wait all day for some sausage and have horrible customer service go Lowe's food. This store is nothing but a huge "12 pack" convenient store. Do not, I repeat, do not go there unless you have less than 5 items, no coupons and the need to not only hand them your money, but check yourself out at the same time. The last 2 times we have been in there, to do our weekly shopping, the only registers that were open were the self check out and at least 3 cashiers hovering around, looking useless. This last time, we had a cart full, and we were forced to use self check out at 1 pm on a Friday afternoon. Not only did we have to deal with the machines standard "no reason rescans" interruptions but when we get to our last item, the whole thing shuts down and starts flashing "remove items, to much weight". Really??? Like maybe a whole cart of flipping groceries!!!! So then two cashiers show up to help, and start flashing cards and pushing buttons and the next thing we know, they successfully voided the whole transaction and tell us everything will have to be rescanned. So this is where we told them we were tagging out and going to another grocery store. We might never get that 35 minutes we wasted back again, but if we can save one coupon loving, family this frustration in the future than we have done our job. read more

Overpriced, for one thing, the only reason I go there is because it is never busy and I hate grocery shopping when it's busy. I stopped at Lowes Foods one day on my way when I was in a rush but had to pick up a couple of things. As I went to check out, I was asked for my card. I started digging in my purse, and couldn't find my card to get the discounts on my items, which I desperately needed. The lady behind me was glaring, and the cashier started tapping on the register with her long fingernails. I started having a panic attack. I said I could not find my card, and asked if they had a store card or if she could look my card up by my phone number so I would not hold up the line any longer. Without skipping a beat with her tapping, I was told "no" I needed "my" card. I started having trouble breathing, and if I didn't NEED the items, I would have just walked out of the store. Instead, I told the girl to just ring them up, at which time she charged me the full price on the items. All the time, the lady behind me was still glaring and had started sighing like I had taken HOURS. I left with my few items, and have NEVER returned to a Lowes Foods store. Most other stores will offer a store card, a new card for your, or ask the person in line behind you if they can "borrow" their card to check out. But NO effort was made for me. Cashiers need to understand that some people have medical problems that prohibit them being confronted when they misplace a card, and they don't need to be treated like they have done something wrong. They should work with their customers because if all customers have the experience I had and never return, the Cashiers won't have a job for long. I wish I had been able to get that person's name and report her, but when she said they didn't offer any alternative if someone misplaces their card, they proved to me that I don't need to shop at Lowes food. There are too many other places in this town where you can get good customer service and not have to panic if you forget or can't find your card. AND I am only giving a 1 star because this will not allow me to process it without ANY stars!! read more
