I don't like to leave negative reviews like this, but on 12/21/2025, my experience with Fresh Market was disappointing. The physical store setup is terrible, which is why I am giving this a one-star rating. I came in expecting a smooth, premium shopping environment, but looking around was an incredibly frustrating experience. The layout is completely backwards, and the aisle organization makes no sense at all. Instead of an intuitive flow, it feels like a maze where you have to walk in circles just to locate basic items. The signage is useless, and the overall setup completely lacks the clean, effortless navigation found at competitors. Beyond absolutely awful. Whole Foods is much better. read more

As Fresh Markets go, this one was a good size, had vegetables that actually did look fresh, and a decent selection overall. Checkout is always easy at these places. My needs were modest, but I got some beverages (important given the stuff that's in the local water supply) and some local goods. While close to the beach, it has a reasonably open and easy to get to parking lot. I was happy to have stopped in. read more

Made a mistake of getting fresh-squeezed orange juice from Fresh Market. It was really good when they first got the machine! Now, I'm feeling sick. (1/3/25) I know it was the orange juice, because it was the only thing I consumed. I thought the taste was poor because they loaded it with inferior oranges. I got a refund, promptly. I normally don't get to Fresh Market often because there are stores closer to my house, but once a year, they send me a free slice of birthday cake for my birthday, and I go! This year in addition to a delicious slice of birthday cake, I also bought a big container of the dried veggie chips which are absolutely delicious! read more

I have slowly accepted, that no matter what they list for sale, or say is for sale, they don't have it, 75% of the time! The white chocolate/strawberry parfaits are never in stock and only1 at a time! Anything we learn to enjoy, soon is not available. I have offered to order the parfait for parties, only to be turned down. I spend slot with Instacart, and they show the parfait is in stock, but it's not! When we realize that we can't get yet another white chocolate parfaits, we no longer buy the very expensive ribeye steak! It's not profitable to lose a customer who spends we'd, but after learning this evening, there are no parfaits, I think we will learn to make them ourselves, and shop elsewhere. read more

Terrible customer service. My husband and I were traveling from out of town, stopped in to pick up a few things to take home. When I checked my bank account I was charged $120.00 instead of $30.00 I should have been charged. It has been a run around to get refund and it will take 30 days- put it took them 30 seconds to take out of my account. Beware! I felt scammed. read more

Sad customer service. Spent a couple of minutes looking for croutons and unsuccessful. Approach associate and ask do you have croutons? No and waks away. The answer is almost laughable that my wife and I laugh. Approach another associate working at counter doing minor busy work and wait patiently for them to look up to finally get answer. If you are going to be the highest priced grocery store in the area you really should have the best customer service. read more

Shopping here is always such a pleasure. Their sushi is seriously like restaurant quality. The staff here are so friendly and their family meal deals are unreal. This is not a place that I would do a whole shopping list but definitely a specialty store. It is always SO clean and actually a fun place to shop. read more

It is my go to place when I need fresh herbs . It didn't disappoint today , was able to find fresh tarragon. If you are looking for something not ordinary, you just may find it here. I meandered through the rest of the store. I had dessert hummus recently and have decided to try to make it. I found a recipe that called for tahini , could not find it in Harris Teeter. Asked an employee, she took me to the tahini , there were two options. The employees are super helpful and friendly. I love Fresh Market. read more

So, I don't like leaving bad reviews but this time I simply must. I ordered a pre-made Thanksgiving dinner this year as usually Fresh Market does NOT disappoint in pre-made cuisine. I pick up my Turkey dinner with all the trimmings the day before & place it all in the fridge. The next morning I unpack everything to begin the process of easy heating. However, what I find is a half frozen, bloody turkey, a ham congealed with goop and a bunch of pre-frozen and now melted , tasteless & watery/mushy sides. The pie wasn't much better. Not at all the freshly prepared Thanksgiving dinner I was expecting. I call & speak with the store manager, Charlene McKinney, the next day who says come on in with your receipt for a refund. Great! Excellent customer service I'm thinking! So...as she's trying to process my $150 refund, which took her about 20 minutes, I make small talk & ask if she'd received a lot of complaints. The food really was quite awful (I didn't say that out loud to her tho).... she looked down her nose at me and says "No because they all knew how to read the heating instructions". WOW. I was and am blown away by the sheer rudeness of this young woman and I can't imagine how on earth someone with such a nasty, unpleasant nature EVER landed a manager position at such an upscale, old world charm grocery store! 12/5/19: Ah, and now the delightful Charlene McKinney herself liked (then removed so her sarcasm would go undetected by upper management, I would imagine) but not before I was alerted, my review. What is UP with this chick?? C'mon Fresh Market, this can't possibly be the best you can find to represent your store! She must be a relative, there's just no other explanation. read more

Fresh market is hands down my favorite grocery store. The food is always fresh, they have plenty of healthy options, and the staff is always super friendly. One thing that I love is all the meal deals they do two different $20 meal deals every week that can feed four people. They also have other meal deals behind the counter where they offer like 5 different chicken deals that can come with any sides you pick and corn muffins. These all cost around $15 and you can get them for $12.99 on Sundays. I love how you can get health fresh food for not crazy prices!! There produce section is huge, meat section is huge, and seafood section has plenty of choices. Fresh market is perfect for people who want good food at great prices! read more

We love this Fresh Market! They have an amazing staff and a variety of great in house selections from flowers to wine! Their meat department is very good. Love their selection of coffees in the bins, their selection of Caspari napkins and other paper goods, and items not found in most typical grocery stores. I never thought I would find mold in their food, but I did 4 times. When a store charges you double or more for anything they sale, you would think they have higher standards and everything must be as advertised "NOT SO" . I have found mold in my blueberries, apple pie, cranberries mini cakes and deli sandwich. Their employees are sooo RUDE!!!! read more

Gotta try their "Little Big Meal" deal, usually around $20 to feed four, and its a savings of between $10-$20 over retail...but a bit of a warning, make sure you take one of their direction cards (or read it carefully online), I made their jambalaya 3X more spicy than necessary...it was still good tho...but really authentically New Orleans! read more

The people in the deli aren't very helpful. In general they act as if you're bothering them. They can't answer basic questions about the hot food they're selling either. I asked if the baked chicken wings have MSG and the person didn't know. read more

Pretty much heaven on earth. This place rocks my world. It's the only place near me (and when I say "near", I mean that I drive an hour to get there), that has fresh, organic produce! My local Food Lion sucks (Sneads Ferry), and I'm hard pressed to find organic grapes, blueberries, etc. anywhere else. Yes, their prices are high, but you're paying for quality. We stock up on their antibiotic/hormone free chicken, as well as their turkey sausage whenever we visit. Their sushi and baked goods are delicious as well. Being that we live on the coast, we can usually find cheaper and fresher seafood elsewhere, so that's pretty much the only thing we don't buy here. Don't go expecting to get great deals, but do go expecting to get fresh organic produce and unique items hard to find at other grocery stores :) read more

Let me preface this review with the absolute fact that I hate how expensive this grocery store is. That said, the beauty, freshness, and quality that you find inside is often worthy of the asking price. They have the best pork chops and beautiful produce. THey also have our favorite snackies: Terra Chips and prosciutto/provolone stuffed peppers. Yummo! We also splurge for their eggs. The fresh market eggs have the brightest, orange yolks and are delicious! We really love the taste of the fresh eggs. If you are in the mood for a quick dinner, stop by Fresh Market because the deli and premade food selection is extensive. Just prepare yourself for sticker shock. read more

I can't get enough of this place, but, unfortunately, my wallet can. It is a little bit more expensive than your regular grocer, but everything is fresh, most of it is either all natural or organic, and they have some of the best prepared foods that I've ever tasted (for those nights when I just don't feel like cooking). I'm always grocery shopping because I try to buy products for dinner that I'm about to make that night.. I like to be able to walk around and be inspired by ingredients that I see.. it's difficult to do that at most common grocery stores as everything is pre-packaged and geared towards a fast moving lifestyle with microwaves and toaster ovens. The Fresh Market is definitely outside that box. I was excited about the new grocery opportunities when I moved to Wilmington, Whole Foods, Farmers Markets, etc... One day, in need of celery root and not wanted to wander too far on my way home from work, I stopped in here to take a look. I'll never look back. It was amazing! A HUGE selection of fresh produce. Some products I didn't even know I could so easily procure. The meats looked amazing, and you could buy 3 chicken thighs instead of a styorofoam container of them wrapped up and sitting on a shelf. The cheese selection left a little to be desired I will admit.. but all in all, there were plenty of ingredients to make a nice simple dinner, or an extravagent 3 course french meal. The prices were at par with what I'd expect, and the service was very friendly. I can't really find much to complain about at all here! I'll be back. read more

Too pricey to be my regular market back home in Raleigh, I make it a point to visit this one when I'm in town. The check out process unusually takes a while, which takes it down a star, as I don't understand why they don't have more people on registers when lines are longer - then again, I'm spoiled by places who open a new register when there are over the people in line. However, the reason I am giving them full stars is for the service that I received today. I went in and bought some lunch and such, including what I assumed was a deluxe spicy tuna roll - I should have done a better inspection, likely, but it was what they normally looked like on the outside. Got back to where I was staying and found out that this package, LABELLED as a spicy tuna roll, was nothing of the sort... it was some kind of California roll. As someone allergic to shellfish, and aware that even imitation crab has REAL crab in it, I understandably freaked out. I immediately returned to the store, receipt in hand, and wanted to know who to speak with about a product problem. I spoke with a very nice associate who listened to my take, and then mentioned it to the store manager. If not for the fact that I'd already picked up a mislabeled sushi, I'd have just asked for a replacement. I did make a request they check the display, because I was sincerely concerned about other patrons. The manager left to check, and the associate processed a refund. I left much more calm and feeling very satisfied - thank you for taking the issue seriously and being compassionate. read more

I came to the store with high hopes and walked out with 3 items (I made a relatively far drive so I forced myself to buy a few items). Also, all the customers in here was snobby and grumpy. I am used to shopping at high end food markets like Whole Foods and am living in Wilmington for the next three months. I was pleasantly surprised to find this place so close to my hotel (in walking distance) and that they have everything I look for in a food market...great, fresh produce, bakery fresh breads/pastries, bulk foods, a great meals-to-go section. Everything I have had from here has been great. Yes, it may be a bit pricey but I am willing to pay more for better quality, healthier food, which Fresh Market provides. read more

Decided to do the flowers for my sister's 6/14/14 wedding ourselves since they were going to be pretty simple - loose arrangements of white hydrangeas. Everyone recommended ordering from Fresh Market. Ordered 50 hydrangea stems in January 2014. Checked on the order in April. The manager was supposed to call the morning of pick up, 6/12/14 (the night before we head to Southport for the wedding). Never got a call. Finally went to pick them up at 4 pm. The order contained FIVE hydrangeas. Out of the 50 that were special ordered 6 months in advance. FIVE. The manager was rude and his response was "9 times out of 10 it's right" and "we told you there wasn't a guarantee". What good is a special order - 6 months in advance, for flowers that are IN SEASON??? Which also still doesn't help 36 hours before the wedding! The whole experience was awful. Thanks for making my mom cry in your store. It'll be the last time we are there. read more

I really enjoy shopping here. They lean more towards healthy foods but wish they had more Organic and Non-GMO.

I love shopping at Fresh Market. It's such a wonderful contrast to other grocery stores. Hardwood floors, classical music, and coffee. The store is pretty and well stocked. I do wish they carried a few more organic items, but overall, it's one of the best in Wilmington. Some people may not think that atmosphere is important in a store, but I disagree.
