If you're looking to get trex decking, I'd recommend either Home Depot or another hardware store instead. We purchased a 56 pack of trex and had 21 leftover pieces perfectly in tact, rented a U-Haul to return those 21 pieces since we were never told we couldn't, and were denied. So we wasted our time and money renting a U-Haul and had to load it in and out of it 3 times. The items have a different SKU number even though they're the same exact item. We spent almost 10k in decking material at Lowe's and the manager at this store couldn't be bothered trying to work anything out. We asked if she could at least try to call the location we got it from and she couldn't be bothered. We also offered to get refunded the 56 pack and then repurchase the remaining 35 boards but they weren't willing to take in the inventory. After spending so much money here that could've been spent elsewhere, this is a slap in the face. After talking to a couple of people who did Trex through Home Depot, they had a similar experience and were able to return the boards separately. We've been driving the extra 5 minutes to go to Home Depot after this horrible experience. read more

I had to replace my water heater as it was leaking. The young man in appliances was very helpful and let me know opening a Lowes card would save me about $100.00. absolutely the worst. They have done away with all cashiers so all self checkout that don't work. I had to enter my cell phone number to unlock a gate to buy electrical wire to only find out on top of the gate there was a pad lock. So i had to wait 15 minutes for a sales person to unlock the gate anyway to only be told that he had to put the wire at the register until I was ready to check out. On January 31 we purchased a carper install from Lowe's ($3,200.00) with a verbal receipt date on February 14, later changed to February 10, listed as February 1st. on the Lowe's order tracking site. This is for a move in, furniture being delivered February 18th. The Lowe's sales associate was made aware of the timeline when the order was placed and assured us February 14th was a firm date with install shortly thereafter. Today we received a call from Lowe's there will be a 4+ week delay. In addition the individual who measured the job stated there were stairs and limited parking, neither of which is correct. I brewed up a mean compost over the winter, a big storage bin full -- the one with the fake knobby wheeld in classic sun beaten baby blue, but nobody was interested, they'd rather trust the fine folks over at Monsanto and buy it here instead. True, mine had a touch of funk to it but ya get used to it. I can not recreate mulch, so that I bought to fluff and then came the humdinger, buying dirt - a simple enough act that annoys me to the end of time. There's rich soil everywhere but don't get spotted running into your local park with a shovel - I think it's a major offence. "Hey buddy, what are you in for"? "I stole a few pounds of dirt". Lowe's dirt is very dirty, it's exceptionally dirty dirt. I mean, from the moment you open the bag, your hands are dirty and the bags are whimpy, unlikely to sustain a two foot flat bellyflop drop without a corner giving. Then it's in the car then the dog steps on or swats around about it -- and so on and so on, until a haze of brown covers the whole process. Then off to the aisle with the glue and tape because that's my favorite isle. I really wanted to buy the tape that, the one where informercial guy saws his Jon boat in half then tapes the hull with a few easy stretches and smiles and shouting over the little Evenrude or Mercury. And then tapes it back together and then proceeds to take his annoying family out on the lake for a cruise. The advertisement was there, but the tape wasn't. So I decided to shuffle over to checkout and the line was long and disorganized, people were fanning their heads to and fro as if we were at Wimbledon watching some super seniors doubles match. The young fellow with the extra large bar gun scanner was zapping away with tremendous dexterity, kept his head and his eye on the job at hand as no relief was called in to open another register, a lesser compitant soul likely not worked as quickly and would not have handled the frustrated customers with such grace. read more

Their Associates are well trained and knowledgeable they know where the product is in the store and they can even explain how to use it. Employee Mike "the proud veteran" is extremely rude. My husband was waiting in aisle 44 for quite some time and no one came by. So when I finally finished shopping and made it to the aisle we waited together for a while before I left the aisle to find an employee to assist us. One of the employees made an announcement on the loud speaker for someone in pro tools to assist a customer in aisle 44. Of course after waiting a while no one came. So I decided to call the store, Mike answers the phone and I explain that I would like to have a class cut, he immediately informed me that they do not cut outside glass. I told him that I would like to buy a glass from the store, I am currently in the store waiting in the aisle and no one is here. I even had an employee make an announcement requesting someone come to the aisle to assist a customer. Mike says, "If you say so." I said what do you mean if I say so. It happened, the music cut off for the announcement. The announcement was made! He then says well I'll be there. When he finally came by I asked him why would he be rude to me. He says, well I didn't hear the announcement. I told him, well that's not how you should respond not to a customer. I was not rude to him so there was no need for the attitude. Bought a Midea AC from Lowes, brought it home and found evidence it was an open box sold as a new. Called Customer Service and Karen answered. She said I cannot get it replaced because its special order. I asked how I was able to get one within a few hours, she said it was a return which confirmed that I was sold a return as new. I asked Karen was the policy is on selling a return, shouldn't the customer be told it was a return. Karen rudely said I don't know what to say, and she hung up. This specific LOWES is the worst I arrived at approximately 9pm on a weekday and went to look at a few chandelier's, ceilings fans etc. at this point i waited for about 20min before a representative ask me for help, very helpful but made it clear to me he's not knowledgeable in the chandelier area but he'll help. Customer service is at an all time low these days with service people at many stores busy with there phones or conversations with fellow employees to be bothered with doing there job. Lowes in Bay Shore is no different. In fact this store may be at the top of the list for complacency and disregard. Thankfully there's a Home Depot nearby. If what I needed today was sold at HD then I would not have even walked into Lowes. But I had to buy a certain toilet and when I needed help loading it into the van I waited ten minutes for a loader that never showed up. Lucky for me a stranger saw me waiting and helped. Never again... Ever. I'm done. Every time I come here I get incredibly frustrated. Brick and mortar, or online, doesn't matter. This store just sucks. Their tools are absurdly overpriced, their materials are either out of stock, or in the wrong place, the website is an absolute mess of crap they don't even sell, and their gift cards are useless online. Why?! There is not only no option in the app at all to use a gift card, but attempting to purchase on the computer wasn't anymore helpful as they don't even allow to you split payments. So, if you've got more than one gift card, you're screwed. Apparently, they don't care because they've already got your money. What do they care if you ever spend it? Absolutely abysmal. Never again. Why are the employees here so often not wearing masks? I needed to get a piece of floor tile. I asked a young lady where I would find that aisle. When she turned around, her nose was not covered. I've gone to just about every Lowes in Suffolk County. Customer Service is hit or miss...but usually miss. I find Lowes pretty easy to navigate in comparison to Home Depot and it's usually my prefered store. However, Home Depot consistantly has employees who go out of their way to help you, and from now on I think I'll solely be a HD customer. I don't need help often, but when I do...forget it. If you go to this particular Lowes (which I've been going to for about 10 years) needing help from an associate, you might as well stay home. Customer service here absolutely sucks to a point where it feels like you're in the Twilight Zone because there's dozens of employees around but no one working here seems to know anything and every employee acts like their inconvenienced by your mere presence. I saw a group of two associates and a customer talking. Not about anything home improvement related mind you--they were talking about sports. I politely waited a few moments before one looked at me, seemingly annoyed at me for daring to ask him a question. I asked where the moving boxes were and he gave me an aisle number. Once there, I got my boxes but still needed a mattress cover I saw online but didn't see on the shelves. I saw a different employee literally standing around doing nothing. I greeted him and asked if they sold the covers. "Mattress covers?" he asked frustrated. "I don't know. I work in doors," he huffed. Okay, well you'd think anyone would be like "let me get an associate who would know to help you." Nope. You're on your own here. The absolute worst was the cashier Richard. I don't like to drop names but he was absolutely horrible. No greeting, no smile, annoyed as hell for no reason. I have never come in contact with an employee so flat out rude. I don't know if he realizes he works in customer service, and while (most) customers don't expect you to kiss up to us, being polite to your customer won't kill you. I hope management either puts him on another floor away from customers, or tells him to lose the sh!tty attitude. He pissed me off enough to never go back to that store. read more

It's a home improvement store, which is basically a warehouse. I walked in with a purpose. The purpose was to buy a couple of things for the home. I looked around the expanse and couldn't figure out where to go. I was about to look high and low when Lowe's sent a savior. George asked if he could help and he could. He gave me solid directions to my first item. Aisle was spot on. I carried my bounty down the large center aisle. Debating if they had another item I had been meaning to buy. I didn't find it, but I saw my new champion. He majestically pointed and said it would be in one of two aisles. It was.
