This place has the ultimate F YOU phone system. It's damn near impossible to get a human on the phone. I could have driven there and yelled at them in person in the time it took to get a human on the phone. Lowes may think they're maximizing profits by having an automated system dispose of their phone calls. The phone system may in fact reduce their labor costs. But I have to believe it's causing a greater revenue loss than the associated labor savings. I've pretty much stopped shopping at Lowes in favor of Menards. This is the last straw. If you look at my profile, you will see a one-star review is not something I give it often. I think this may be the second one ever. With that said, this Lowe's is fine if you are going in to grab something off the shelf. I'm contrast, do not place orders for items such as cabinets that have to be ordered. It will be a nightmare. The staff involved in shipping and receiving are complete incompetent. My wife and me ordered a full set of kitchen cabinets for a rental property we were rehabbing. We ordered online and that aspect was fine. The order was placed the first week of April, 2022. Over the next several months the experience turned into a fiasco. This is of course with the understanding the challenges with worldwide logistics. We tracked our order over the next several weeks. It appeared all the cabinets but two were in by late May. This is where the fun started. We would receive emails that our order was going to be delivered on Saturday. Saturday would come and go, no cabinets. Then on every Sunday we'd get an email the order was coming on Tuesday. I'd have to reschedule to the following Saturday as we weren't available on the Tuesday. Finally, I called the service department and asked that whatever they had would be delivered that Saturday. The service desk said no problem. Saturday comes, no delivery. Same Tuesday delivery message arrived again and I rescheduled online for Saturday. Saturday comes, no delivery again. I went to the store and talked to the service department in person. The person I spoke to on the phone ended up emailing Tristan, the head of the shipping department about having our partial order delivered the following Saturday. Saturday comes, no delivery. This scenario played it several more times over the next couple of weeks. The rehab house, and this Lowe's, are over 100 miles away from where I am during the week. Finally my wife made a special trip down on a weekday to speak to a manager. After discussing the situation the manager went back to receiving to check on the cabinets. Low and behold, they were all there! One of the people in received had not checked in the two "missing" cabinets. They had arrived close to two months preciously! You would think that someone in shipping (perhaps Tristan the manger) would have liked into the situation after the several emails the service desk sent. Obviously he did not. That would have been the competent thing to do. The cabinets were delivered to the rehab house the following Saturday - July 16th. Don't do it. Don't order cabinets or other big orders from this store. Go to a different Lowe's. Or go to the Home Depot or Menards in town. read more

As new homeowners, my fiance and I wanted to do some of our own home improvements and signed up for a Lowe's credit card. This turned out to be a terrible mistake. Getting the card itself activated is time consuming and stressful, and you can't even use it in the store all the time because their system doesn't always work. It's also challenging and again, time consuming, to pay off the credit card at the end of the month. It honestly seems like they don't want you to make your monthly payments. We've had multiple issues with Lowe's shipping us damaged products or not honoring store credits, but the latest saga was when we tried to purchase an oven. While at the store, their credit card system wasn't working, and they told us that we had to use a different credit card and lose the 5% rewards. If we backed out of buying the oven, we would've lost a $60 gift card that we already applied to the purchase. They would not give us the $60 back on another gift card. Finally we get the oven ordered, and were told it would be delivered that Friday. It's been three weeks, and we still have not recieved this oven, even after being told that it was out for delivery. As it turns out, the store still doesn't even have the oven in stock. I've spent several hours this weekend on the phone just trying to track down this oven. Lowe's has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. We are canceling our order and credit card and will no longer be shopping at these stores. read more

We visited this Lowe's because we received a gift card as a Christmas gift. I had a small list of items we needed, so we ventured over here on a Saturday morning. Household cleaning items are totally overpriced, but then other items, like lawn care essentials/outdoor decor are reasonably priced. I purchased a washer and dryer set on January 16, 2023. Purchase was completed and items were set to pick up on January 17, 2023. Arrived to pick up washer and dryer and was told I could not have the washer because the only two people who could "check" it in as inventory were not working. The staff tried to refund the washer and resell it to me without my knowledge. After an hour of arguing with the staff and manager, I insisted on receiving a full refund of $1478.04. The manager I spoke with the next day offered a 10% discount to try and make it right. No thanks, their customer service is terrible and knowledge of business practices are lacking greatly. read more

February 2024 the original person who came out to discuss our options and prices was very personable and knowledgeable. Our order was placed and payment in full was due at that point. March 2024 the order was received at the store and was told installation would begin April 2024. Day 1 patio door was installed but slid the WRONG direction so we would step into the house on the floor vent. plus the door will not lock. Day 2. was approached by the city stating that a building permit was needed in order to do a total window replacement. shouldn't they have known this? this stopped installation for a few days while said permit was obtained. Then found out the wrong size window was ordered for the above the sink window. it's been since May 1, 2024. and the patio door/kitchen window has yet to be received or installed. every phone call has been "I'll look into it and get back with you in 24 to 48 hours". Purchased a washing machine online that was available for I store pick up the following day. Everything went great online, received an email the following morning at about 10:30 that the washer was ready for pick up. Here's where it went sideways.... This location has recently implemented a separate desk for pick up orders. Sound great in theory with the amount of people doing online shopping, but what purpose does it serve when the consumer gets a notification that their purchase is ready for pick up and they arrive at the location and have to wait 30 minutes for the product to even be pulled from the shelf???? I stood at the customer service desk and waited 25-30 minutes from the time I walked in, until the time we walked out with the washer because, "nobody that's qualified to operate the forklift is around." Excuse me? Then why did I receive notification that my order was ready for pick up?? Meanwhile, countless staff are just standing around gossiping and carrying on. Maybe instead of that, you could train more of your staff to take on additional responsibilities, that way you can justify paying them $15 an hour in a few years.... read more

I ordered a refrigerator from this Lowe's store. I had it set up for delivery. They call and confirmed (automated) that they were delivering the next day. I waited in the four hour window. Called the store- they said they "lost it". Set up delivery for the following Thursday- waited and again they didn't show up. Called the store they are now promising it for Monday. No phone calls either time that they couldn't deliver on the day (they claim they did but they have my number and I have no voicemails from them). Purchased a washer and dryer after my 30yr old dryer died...chose a model in store that they said was in stock. Del set for 12/19. Automated call received on 12/18 confirming delivery 1-4 pm on 12/19. At 4:30pm on the 19th I called because my new set still hadn't delivered. I was told it would deliver on Friday, 12/23. On Thursday, I received a call telling me only the washer would deliver on Friday. I chose the model dryer because I was told it WAS in stock on the day of purchase. So did they sell it to another customer? I told them to cancel my order. Yelp reviews show that they've had delivery issues with other customers for all kinds of items. It appears that they tell you lies to get in your pocket, then string you along with the delivery process. I ordered an 8mm socket item 1049020 online on 3/12/20. The website claimed there was one in stock at the Champaign, IL location, so I ordered it with intent on picking it up. I went to pick it up today (3/14/20) and the lady at customer service said the order was cancelled on 3/12/20 because they had none in stock. I received NO email notification. I received NO courtesy phone call. When I went to pick up the socket, they said even though my order was cancelled two days prior, they still showed TWO sockets in stock. Of course in reality, there were still none in stock, the oh-so-competent (sarcasm) staff never updated their inventory count. So now I wasted 30 miles roundtrip to pick up this socket. That's okay though, because online retailers easily pick up the slack where Lowes as a retailer has failed on every level in this regard. read more

My husband and I had a very rude checkout clerk today. When my husband greeted him and asked how he was he said, "I'm here". Then he pulled down his mask, rubbed his nose and continue to touch our purchases. At one stage there was a small paintbrush with no tag. He mumbled, "no sticker" and just left it on the counter. I then went back to the paint shop and found another with a scan code. I know it is difficult to get good help. There are other options in Champaign for hardware type items. The carpet has a seam that was showing the person that installed it from Lowes said it was normal. Well 18 month it pulling apart at the seam . This carpet has been well maintained shoes off at door. This review is for Cassidy in the indoor plant department - a true asset to this department and a wealth of knowledge! Today, I had an unplanned trip to the plant department in search for some new plants for my apartment. I wasn't sure where to even start. You see, when plants enter my home the mortality rate becomes extremely high. I had given up faith almost, but today Cassidy restored my faith in raising plants past a 30-180 day survival mark. Cassidy saw me wandering around lost in the indoor section and asked if she could assist me with anything. I explained the situation. I kill plants; I love plants, and I needed something that would survive in my low-light apartment. For 20 minutes she educated me on different types of plants, different planters and what works best, different soils and how to mix them, how to know when to water certain ones and when not to water them, proper drainage, treating certain bugs, and she helped me pick out some plants that would be a perfect fit for me! I left with 2x as many plants as expected. She taught me more in 20 minutes than I could have ever learned searching on the Internet all day long. If I had a question, she had an answer. Cassidy made me feel as if I should visit the indoor plant section more often and I hope to see her again! read more

Be careful when buying counter tops. You provide estimates of measurements for your counter tops. Then, someone from the company that actually makes the counter tops comes and measures. The actual measurements were less than what we paid for (by about 8 sq feet), which means we overpaid. The associate in counter tops at Lowes said that the store this would be settled up, but this is apparently not done proactively. You have to figure that out and go the extra steps to get your money back. (I guess it's good news if you underestimated when giving measurements at the store.) The salesperson did say she was just about to notify us when we called to pursue it, but another assistant manager and other employees were baffled by our situation as if it never happens. One assistant manager said he's never heard of that happening. Be sure you write down or somehow record how many square feet you pay for at the store (it won't be on your paperwork), and then get the actual measurements from the installers so you can go settle up your bill yourself. Also, even though they say the sink is free when on promotion for the solid surface counters, you actually end up paying for the installation and the area over the sink. I don't know what is "free" about that. It ends up being about $300 for that free sink. We've been working with the store manager to make it right, but it has been annoying and time consuming. At least they're making it right, but it's odd that the customer has to bend over backwards to make that happen. Other than this experience, we've been pretty happy with Lowes of Champaign. We're just extra careful and are more likely to shop around before committing to Lowes now because of our experience. Their customer service has improved, but my husband and I joke that our photos are probably up in the back of the store so every associate we pass or come even close to asks us if we need help ;-). I'd rather be offered too much help than too little! read more

Absolutely disappointed with this store. I placed an order online for a washer and dryer set 2/28/18. The set was a GE model that was MSRP $899 and was on sale for $599. I received a couple email notifications that the order was confirmed and expected delivery was 3/14/18. I call the corporate number on 3/12 to see if I can have the order changed from in store pickup to delivery. They were happy to assist and I had a very pleasant experience. They also advised that the order way delayed and it would be delivered 3/16. No big deal. Well 3/16 passes and I end up receiving an email on Friday 3/17 that the order will be delivered 3/24. I call the corporate number and they find that the order has been delayed again. They do suggest that the store could deliver a loaner or perhaps find a similar model to substitute for my delayed ordered. That sounded reasonable enough. I go into the store on 3/17 and discuss the issue with customer service. The customer service employees were not particularly helpful so I asked for a manager. They called the manager out and I waited about 15 minutes. The manager did not show so I go up to the counter and ask again for help or if the manager is going to come up. They direct me to a new customer service employee and she begins looking up the details of the order. She finds that it's delayed and I ask if I can get a similar model for the same price. She said it would be up to the manager on the pricing. I go back to the appliances department and work with a couple sales employees. They do not have anything for the price I paid with comparable features. I ask that they match the price I paid since I've been inconvenienced with multiple delays. They call the manager Travis and he offers a mere 10% off. I wasn't thrilled with his offer so I look around. One of they employees ends up offering a set for what he said was 'cost' which was about 20% off. That was a lot more reasonable but ended up deciding to hold off for my original set and left the store. I call customer service on Monday 3/19 to see if they can find out exactly where my set was and when it was expected to be delivered. The rep ends up finding out that the order is not going to fulfilled because the model was discontinued. Now this is three weeks after my order date and I'm now just finding out that the order was never going to be fulfilled. At this point, the only way I would be satisfied is if they find a comparable washer and dryer set for $599 ea. I go to the store after work and ask to speak to a manager. Travis ends up coming up today. I explain to him my situation and he offers 10% off a set.. Now this is especially annoying because I was already offered a better price two days prior. I told him I was not happy with that offer and I want a MSPR $899 washer and $899 dryer for the sale price of $599 each like I ordered. He says he cannot do that price and the best he could do is 20% off. Now why didn't he lead with the 20% off in the first place? This has been such a terrible experience, why would I ever want to shop here again? I decline the 20% off and tell him I'm going to file a complaint and hopefully someone can assist with correcting this terrible experience. I call the corporate number and speak with a supervisor. The supervisor told me they can put an order for the wash dryer set at $599 but it is up to the store if they honor it or cancel it. The supervisor says they would put in a complaint with the store and the manager would contact me within 24 hours. Guess what.. No one calls. I call today 3/20 and am told that it takes up to 72 hours for a response. Ok.. So here I am with no washer dryer set and an absolutely terrible experience hoping the manager calls within the next couple days. I do not think what I am asking is unreasonable, nor am I told why they cannot fulfil my order with something comparable at the same sale price. I do not recommend shopping at this store. read more

I needed to replace a light fixture that broke in my bathroom. The original light cover was from the 80's, so I couldn't just order it from somewhere. So, I wound up hunting around for custom-cut pieces of plastic. I first went to Menards and placed a special order for it. After one week of dogging them about my order status, still no word. So I went to Home Depot. A friendly guy there directed me to a huge sheet of plastic, but said that I would have to cut it myself. I tried, and the sucker shattered. My third stop was here to Lowe's, where an equally friendly guy pointed me to the same piece of plastic, but actually tried to cut it for me. When it again shattered, we decided to go with plexi-glass and he cut it beautifully. Did not even charge for the shattered plastic. One thumb up for the employee spending 15 minutes with me finding what I needed, and the other thumb up for him cutting it as the other two places had refused to do. Lowe's now has my home repair business for life. Not five stars because the place is just not user-friendly. Between Menards, Home Depot, and Lowe's, I wandered around the most at Lowe's. read more

Store review: I have had up and down experience at this lowe's location. With moving in, I have unfortunately frequent this location quite a bit so let me highlight the ups and downs 1. I had my blinds custom measured and installed by lowe's contractor. Friendly guy came out to measure and install with his wife. Only 99 dollars for 9 windows and 10 dollar more to do the patio. GOOD 2. When I went to the store to have the custom blinds ordered. It took 20 minutes for someone to come to that department. BAD 3. That certain someone was pissed off throwing things and slamming cabinets because I came too soon after the window measuring even though I explained to him I was leaving town and the manager said it was okay to come in with the picture of the measurements. BAD 4. I had 2 sets of custom cut blinds that were available in store. Somehow the measurements were off on both of them 1/4 to 1/2 inch even though they were suppose to be cut the same VERY BAD 5. When I came back in they realize that they had to cut new ones and replace them. I had no issues this time. GOOD 6. I bought a washer/dryer. They don't do gas installation and you have to pay 100 dollars for someone to come out. This is not a big issue, but the guys that delivered it from lowe's did not carry it up the stairs instead they used a trolly and pulled it up dirtying the carpet. They also just left the washer sitting there and did not help with the installation. BAD 7. I bought two storm doors online and they said it was in stock and ready for pickup. I arrived and they told me sorry we don't have them even though they were clearly in the back under a similar SKU number. They had messed up. I am a big fan of Lowe's and find the sales staff to be very friendly and helpful. They will do their best to provide advice on a wide variety of projects to help do-it-yourself customers. However, last week I bought kitchen tile from Lowe's and the staff member told me the price would be reduced to cover the cost of the delivery fee. This was fine by me but when I looked at the bill their was only a $10 reduction in tile cost to cover a $55 fee. I ended up having the fee reimbursed and keeping the discount. Always ask if a staff member has completed a project before accepting their advice. I bought a lot of paint stripper from Lowe's but it took awhile to figure out the best method for removing paint as the staff members had never done it before. Their Minwax wood stain and Varathane floor finish are beautiful. I spend a lot of money/time at Lowe's and it is my favorite home improvement store in the area. Their website is also good and you can keep a saved list of products you would like to buy in their cart. Next up will be a special ordered in 8 light fixture and valspar brushed suede paint. read more

My 70 year old parents had their dryer break. They searched the internet for a place to order from that included delivery, haul away, and installation. Most had only curbside due to covid (which we get). They finally looked on the Lowes website and it said haul away and standard installation included. Wonderful, so they ordered it. They called a few days later and said it was going to be delivered from the Decatur store instead for (some reason). They said they would call the day before with a time. Perfect right? Wrong! They called the day before and informed my parents they would drop it at the curb or in the garage, but wouldn't come in the house and if they wanted us to haul away it has to be outside too. Now, I understand the covid issues. I work in healthcare, but it says on the website basic installation included. My parents are 70, so moving machines is not really something they can do. Also, when they called after they ordered they didn't mention a thing. I had my mom call back and let them know what the website says and that they need to take that down. They basically didn't care, and it is still there. I tried to call the customer care line and sat on hold for 45min and no one ever picked up. Do you think you wouldn't have such ticked off customers if you didn't lie to them? I'm mad at you Lowes for taking advantage of my parents and lying to them, and then not giving a crap! When we first moved into our house 14 years ago we bought carpet from them. When they brought the carpet to my home it was from two different runs of carpet from The manufacturer. That means it didn't quite match. The guys that were installing it who nonstop smoked on my front stoop. Said they could install it so you couldn't tell. They did an OK job but I could tell. That carpet lasted about five years and it started to unravel. I haven't been to Lowe's since we bought that carpet. And I will never go to Lowe's. if they would consider reimbursing me my money for the purchase of the carpet I may consider going back. My advice go to Menards. read more

I purchased a shower earlier this month. Long story short there were a few issues. Primarily with communication and customer service. There was also an issue with the part I ordered being put on the shelf as stock and not a private order. The shinning lights threw the ordeal were the, plumbing staff (very knowledgeable of their products), The plumbing manager (sorry forgot his name) and the New Store Manager (Sam Rosa). if i could leave 0 stars i would. we recently moved into a new house and was in need of new dryers and washers. on 07/09/23 we bought the samsung ones at this store and asked them if we can have it delivered. the delivery team came 3 days later and can i just say, worst expirience ever. they dryer came dented on the side and told us we would be able to exchange it for new ones. when they were taking the washer out, they ran the cable over with a wheel and was dragging across concrete. so not only the dryer was damaged, they also damaged the washer cable on spot. we told them we would like to exchange both the dryer and washer and they told us we can and they would deliver it and exchange it for the damaged ones. 2 weeks go by and the delivery team comes again, only with the dryer this time. they said we never put in a request for the washer and i reassured them we did and showed them the damage, the 2 guys that were checking the damage out went to the other guy that was at our first delivery meet. the 2 guys explained the situation and the firt meet guy says "they did the damage themselves on the spot, so it wasnt us". they were also judging and laughing at us because we spoke a different language other then english and couldnt "understand properly" (i speak fluently in english). the audacity to say that!! and they thought we didnt hear him say that but we clearly did. as they were taking out the dryer, its damaged. same spot as the other one. i told them to take it back and bring us a new onr. they once again said, we could exchange it. i ask about the washer because they didnt even bring it, and said they would deliver the dryer and washer. so now here we are, almost a month after we bought the washer/dryer set, and no new ones without any damages. other reviews and family members i see had the same problem with this lowes. worst store ever. wouldn't recommend. read more

The choice in Champaign-Urbana is simple: Lowes or Menards. In general, Menards is less expensive, but the stuff Menards sells is generally lower quality. Lowe's materials is generally higher quality so you should expect to pay more. My rule of thumb is if I need something of higher quality, more durability, and if I need it to last longer, I go to Lowe's. Otherwise, I grab it at Menards. The same rule applies for lumber, with the following addendum. The indoor lumber yard at Lowe's is really a nice experience compared to Menards, especially on a below 0 winter day. read more

I was in Lowe's yesterday and at least 1/2 of the customers were not wearing masks. The employees were, but at least 1/2 of them had their noses hanging out or their masks down around their chins.
