But overall, you can get what you need (or something close to what you need) for essentials plus some speciality items. Lumber ...meh...still too inconsistent and lacking in uniformity and quality.) In store - check out clearance and special pricing on selected items. Online ordering has quite a few hiccups...but still is my go-to for many things. Inventory reflected on web pages is waaaay off. Corporate - get a grip! As for local, Mary Esther ... I offer my sincere thanks, kudos and, applause for assistance I've been given: deference, cheerful respect, and courtesy demonstrated - especially under the duress of (other) irate and (sometimes) ridiculously rude customers. Every individual I interacted with--from the two front-line counter employees to the assistant manager and manager--gave the impression that returning a product was an inconvenience to them rather than part of serving the customer. What I found most concerning was hearing staff openly discuss, within earshot, how inconvenient it was to assist a customer while I was standing there. Today I received the best customer service I've had in years! The young man's name is Mark (maybe with a "C") I was purchasing a mailbox post, mailbox and everything needed to put it in. He was extremely patient with me to find the right wooden post. I'm very picky with my money. He pulled them out from on the floor and patiently did that one at a time. He then went with me to get the correct mailbox, screws, concrete and numbers. On top of that he went to the register with me and then loaded it all in the car. Thank you Mark! read more

Truly awful customer service and management. To give you an idea of the dysfunction -- I've been in line for 30 minutes with two other folks waiting for someone to work the paint desk. About a dozen employees have walked by and so far only one has tried to help. She put out a call on P.A. system which went unanswered, then went to several managers and reported back that they couldn't help. She said that none of the other employees know how to help with paint. When one of the customers in line asked what else could be done she replied "Just shoot me now." read more

I stopped at the store to have a key made, and stood by the key machine, watching an employee next to me with his shelves and waited patiently until he was through at which point he just walked away never said a word I looked down the aisle. here was another employee with a clipboard, she looked at me and smiled and went on about her business. Worst Lowes I've ever been to! Lowes refund policy on trees is 1 year from the date of purchase, you must have the receipt. Gabby, the assistant manager, wouldn't allow me to return them. She said Lowes changed it to a two month refund policy, (not true). It says on their website that it's 1 year from date of purchase, with a receipt. That's not how you treat customers! I would not recommend Lowe's for anything at this point in time. I purchased over $1400 in lumber and had them deliver it, only to find out that 1/3 of it is garbage and unusable lumber. I tried to call the store and nobody ever answered in the delivery department after six calls in waiting over 10 minutes per call. I called the one 800 number and was advised the local store would come out to pick up the unused portion of the lumber I purchased on Monday, 19 February. It is now Wednesday, 21 February. No one has come out. I keep getting the runaround from the 800 number, the store, their website And Facebook. Absolutely horrible service and I will not be a customer there any longer. read more

Twice now this month I have walked out of this store in disgust. First time my wife and I had been waiting for over 15 mins in the door and window department having sat down at the counter after ringing the "bell" for help. Finally, an associate came up only to attend to the people who just walked up and were standing by the bell. The associate never even asked who was first. Lowes lost a $3000 sale that day as we went elsewhere. Today, I went out of my way to go to this store to get two items that totaled just over $100. I stood in line at the cashier, whose lane light was on, waiting for the single customer ahead of me to complete their purchase. A supervisor came over to the cashier and whispered something in her ear while point in my direction. The cashier turned off her lane light when she finished with the customer ahead of me, and then left without a word. I walked out without the items I wanted to purchase. As I left the store, an associate sarcastically commented loud enough for me to hear, "Thanks." I did not return to confront the associate for fear of what I might have said to him, although I really wanted to. I am tired of spending my money in a store that doesn't care if I even go to their store. Rarely does an associate ask if I need help and when I do, there are no associates around. I have another big project that I need to start that will cost over $5000 in supplies, but I think I will go elsewhere. If I go to a Lowes store again, it may be one that is equal distance from my house but in a direction I rarely ever go. read more

I have had the absolute worst experience purchasing a new dryer. To start with the people they have working in the appliance area didn't know anything about the appliances. They told me it would be easier if I ordered what I wanted online. I ordered a Maytag dryer weeks ago and it still has not been delivered. I called to get a delivery status update and I was transferred about 5 times and left on hold with no one able to fix the issue. I physically drove to the store to speak to someone in person and they scheduled me for 11am delivery the next day. Well today is the next day and I still don't have my dryer. Just went to buy some light bulbs. Couldn't find clear white lights, they all say white light but it's warm yellow lights. My husband and I visited this lowes to buy a grill for our new home. We picked the grill we wanted from the display grills and asked a store associate to point us to where we could find the unassembled grills for purchase. The associate informed us that while they had plenty in stock (41 to be exact), they were all preassembled. Since the assembled grill would not fit in our car, we headed home with the intention of purchasing the grill online and have it shipped to the house. After discovering that it would be $79 to have it delivered, I called the store to see if an associate would be able to take off the top of the grill so that we could purchase it at the store and fit it in the car to take home. After waiting for almost 10 minutes for customer service to pick up the phone I was informed that they did not have anyone there that could do that. For my own amusement I asked if they would let us borrow a screwdriver so that we could do it ourselves in the parking lot and they said yes. I spent several days trying to purchase a wall oven and cooktop. First, I can't purchase them on the ongoing sale because they have to have their installers out to measure before the purchase and that won't happen until the sale ends. Then, oh yeah, there's a $35 fee to measure. Next day, it's $35 PER APPLIANCE. Next, I have to pay up front and wait THREE DAYS to even schedule the measurements. How long will my project take? Three weeks? Three months? Who knows? I'm not taking a chance with them. I just found out that Best Buy has FREE in-home consultation with no obligation to buy. Bye bye Lowe's. read more

We bought wood floors in early November. The wood came in but was different colors so we reordered twice. When the got their contractor, ServicePro they sent one guy. He was good but didn't work a full day and we had problems w/ the floor leveling for 4 days, then incorrect threshold wood. We spent Thanksgiving Day on bare concrete floor w/ no furniture (we put away furniture for ease of installation). Christmas was approaching and we spent that without flooring threshold to complete the work. Let me start off by saying this is absolutely a shot at the management team is this Lowes, specifically Jovanny, over the lawn and garden department. August 28th, I bought a John Deere zero turn lawn mower for almost $3,000, but got a military discount which brought it down to $2,888. Delivery was scheduled that coming Saturday. When Saturday came, I got a call from a supervisor saying that they couldn't deliver my lawn mower because they lost the key to it ... yes, you read that right. That's the equivalent of walking into a car dealership and salesman telling you you can't leave with the car you just bought because they lost the keys to it. Also told me they had no timeframe on when delivery could be scheduled because they had to order another key from the manufacturer and it was Labor Day weekend. So, I started asking for the assistant managers and the overall store manager (which everyone seemed to refuse/make it very difficult to talk to). At the same time, I started making phone calls to corporate because this was absolutely unacceptable. Eventually I spoke with Jovanny, and he told me the best they could offer was another 10% on top of my military for the inconvenience. Then, I went to the store and spoke with Jovanny, and the first thing out this man's mouth was "we're already losing money on this mower. We have to make money on these. I sell thousands of these a year. There's a premium on these mowers. This is a good deal." Not "I'm deeply sorry," or "I apologize for this delay." Was trying to walk away from me, barely wanted to shake me hand. In the military, we call that a coward. Then, in the same breath says that he's trying to take care of me as a customer and wants to keep my business. Kinda can't say both of those things in the same sentence. Not how that works if you want a customer to truly feel like you're trying to help them. After that, I called corporate again because I felt like I should be getting more than 10% off considering I didn't have my multi-thousand dollar mower because someone lost a damn key. After that, Jovanny called my phone directly and started chastising me saying "I don't understand what wasn't clear. This is a good deal. I'm not sure if you've ever made a mistake before sir," blah blah blah. Constantly cut me off. I stopped him and said "let me speak to the store manager." He said, "you're probably not going to like his answer but I'll go speak to him right now!" and hung up on me. Then, I got a call from the store manager only because corporate directed him to and told him my peace. He told me he could only legitimately do 10% and that he found the key and could schedule delivery the following day. I accepted, and he asked if there was anything else he could do for me. I told him he should probably address his extremely unprofessional and out of line assistant manager about calling my phone in a hostile manner. He claimed that it "would be addressed." So rest assured, everything stated here has been relayed to corporate for documentation and review by higher management. This was the absolute worst customer service experience I've ever had. And, as a manager, Jovanny is an absolute joke. So please, take offense. Because that's exactly what this is meant to do. Customers beware. Never working with Lowes ever again as long as people like this are in their stores. read more

Terrible customer service. I frequent the garden section often and nobody who works there knows anything about plants. Several hateful cashiers will stand up front by the outdoor registers with no smile, not greeting customers, arms crossed. Lots going wrong with customer service at this location. Plants are not being watered so everything is dead. I asked one of the cashier managers where a certain block was located and she gave me the wrong location and when I told her I look there she said she didn't know. Step up your game, Lowe's! Greg in Appliances is the most condescending and downright rude sales associate I have ever had to deal with. We purchased 5 appliances on Monday and were rushed through the process. We were passed back and forth between multiple sales associates, not one of them had any clue as to what was going on. There was no talk about when the items would be delivered, warranties needed, or even a simple thank you for just spending over $4,000. The sales associate who finalized the transaction literally threw the crumpled receipt at my husband in a hurry to move on to the next customer. I called in the next day to see if we could have the washer and dryer delivered earlier and was transferred back and forth between associates, the phone was disconnected, and then transferred to Greg. I get the associates are overwhelmed and seem to be stretched thin at this store, but Greg was the rudest associate I have ever met. I have always had great experiences at Lowe's and their team members have been so helpful, but this store gave us the most unprofessional, messed up buying experience ever. Greg told me to return the two items then buy them again from the Destin store to have them delivered earlier. I asked if this would mess up any of the promotions we had on the receipt and in his utmost condescending tone he told me it would not. I returned the items, called the Destin store and was told the promotional sales could only be done in person at the Destin store. Multiple other frustrating events followed and my husband had to return to the store for a third time to redo the entire order. Michael thankfully helped him out and was much more professional than any other of the associates we dealt with. Definitely the worst customer service and overall buying experience I have ever gone through. read more

I called and spoke to Kathy to inquire about purchasing a washer and dryer. I had a couple of questions in regards to the Labor Day sale and different purchasing options. Kathy was very rude and did not answer all of my questions completely and made me feel as if she was rushing me off the phone. Almost as if my questions were stupid. My schedule doesn't allow me to go in and ask these questions so I figured calling would get those questions answered prior to coming into the store to save time. She was no help and I was very displeased as a customer. I felt that providing a great customer experience was not important to Kathy at all during that phone call. read more

I like this Lowes as a general retailer of home improvement goods. Almost always treated well by the employees. This review has nothing to do with the employees or basic store offerings. It is about contract services, specifically, the purchase and install fees for a hot water heater. I paid $35 dollars for a great guy to come out and review the situation and work up a basic work order for Lowes to process a quote. He was great. The problem began when I was quoted $1,200, for the job. After breaking down materials and labor I arrived at about $500, for materials with the hot water heater being about $385, of the material. Fair enough. I asked Lowes to send me the detail quote with labor charges listed and they would not. Okay, no big deal, do the simple math. $1,200, for the job less $500 for materials leaves $700 for labor. After talking to other companies that do installs, the standard time for quotes to install is two hour labor. Could be one or three but average is two. That is $350 per hour for labor. Use three hours and it is $233 per hour. Doctors and surgeons might be this high, usually less. And they have way higher overhead rates to cover. Lowes overheads are mostly built into the materials and labor just an aside. Bottom line, big rip off. I could have just said no and moved on but I found myself insulted that they would think people would not see through this. Nit seems criminal, but of course, let buyer be aware. I guess people blindly pay these prices without understanding. You need to know your material vs labor. Labor rates for this type of work, not to disparage the awesome techs, just is not worth it. People must refuse to pay. I ended up getting the entire job done for $600. Saved $600 cash! Wife and I will enjoy this, seems like a reward. Lowes, shame on you for ripping off people that are deprecate for repairs, may need your credit or simply not sharp enough to see what you are doing. I am cancelling my Lowes card after this. Will test Home Depot to see what they do. People, no your labor rates and don't overpay for the skill. It is the only way to stop this nonsense. Can't blame the seller if the buyer doesn't care. Update: ended up having Okaloosa Gas Company handling the whole deal. Did a great job, very friendly and professional. Halph the price and no hassles. Didn't know they provided this service. Finally talked to a manager who took no responsibility for order issues, transferred me to customer service to re-order by items, and in the process disconnected the call. With their "heavier than usual" call volume, I am waiting 30-45 min each time I called in for an update. Completely unacceptable consumer experience. read more
