In any location I've used, BEATS THE MAJOR COMPETITOR IN EVERY WAY HANDS DOWN, including but not limited to, store cleanliness, organization, value, and knowledge, professionalism, engagement, and courtesy of staff. The adding of Craftsman tools (and still guaranteed for life) to their offering, adds a bonus and additional reason to find a location which leads to my one less than glowing comment--accessibility closer in to Chicago. The major competitor's "Walgreen's approach" of their store on every corner (even when that means cannibalising their mutual market areas just to keep Lowe's out) has beat out Lowe's access to the market that has become complacent with the low quality experience of the major competitor. Nevertheless, it's worth finding the nearest location and give Lowe's a try. It's time the major competition actually had some competition. Do not use this Lowe's for any project that entails an installation- eg wood flooring, carpet, bathroom renovation. Every Lowe's employee I encountered was poorly educated about product and process. Lowe's sends out one person to measure and write the estimate then uses a contracted scheduler who then calls in the independent contractors. I went to Lowe's thinking my install would be fast and efficient, the opposite was true, it took months instead of weeks. The contractors who come to install were not part of the initial measuring or planning and therefore ran into problems that were not foreseen. The process is disjointed and poorly coordinated-no one is "in charge". read more

I'm doing a small bathroom remodel and decided to go to Lowes to "get inspired". I did come away with some ideas but was disappointed with Lowes selection of shower stalls. The prices were significantly higher for the same bathroom vanity and faucet at another store just down the street. The bottom line, know your prices before you buy. This is the one of the worst service store I ever made purchase on. I tried to order the carpet for my place about a month ago. They promised to deliver in about 2 weeks. They have the people come to the place to measure it was charge for $35 which is one of the charge for the installer to know how much carpet they will need for the job. After 2 weeks later, the installer was never called. We went back to the store to see what was going on with the order. The staff from the carpet department was saying we didn't have enough carpet that is why we have to make it. So it should be shipping in by the following Monday which they will call to inform about the carpet. Then the installer should be able to get it by the following Wednesday. On that following Wednesday, we went back to the store again. This time, the staff from the carpet department told us the carpet was not made, and it has to wait for another at least 2 weeks. At that point, we decided to cancel that order. The staff was promising to refund all the charges includes the $35 for the measurement. When we went to the customer service, the assistant manager (a lady) refused to refund the $35 measurement fee because they claim they have someone to measure the place also it was mention not be refunded. We were persistent about having that part of the charge refunded because we waited over a month waiting for the carpet to be installed but we never got it. Now, they still want to charge us the measurement fee because they failed to do their part of the job and claim we want a refund so that is supposed to be charged. I don't see how is it our fault they couldn't deliver the job. We also had the contract about that order. At the end, that assistant manager (same lady) had to refund it with a very angry face because the store couldn't get the job done. I found it so ridiculous that I want to share about it. read more

They took forever to install a simple storm door, their excuse was that the contractor was busy, which I understand but at least call us and let us know! We kept calling and nobody told us day or time, we can't be home everyday waiting for this guys to show up. I guess if you hiring people you should make sure that they do the job and let customers know about contractors times and schedule, don't just let people guessing. Lowe's hires different contractors to do installations and other jobs but so Home Depot and we never had an issue with them. This is the last time I shop there. read more

Terrible customer service in the store, online and on the phone. I highly suggest going elsewhere, and I don't mean a different lowes, I mean a different retailer. Order washer and dryer, they never called to schedule delivery, just scheduled it themselves. I called to reschedule because they're date did not work and the delivery never came on that day. No one called me, I had to call and ask where it was, they stated that the product was on back order and it would not be available for about 30 days. Asked if i would receive some kind of compensation or discount, they had naperville manager call me and he said we may be able to work something out if you come in. Their offer, an inferior product at the same price of my order. You would think they would offer something comparable, or the same sale discount I was receiving for the superior product I ordered. No they offered nothing. Customer service seemed to no know what to do, they offered me an even lower quality product, thinking maybe I would bite because the price was lower. AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!! not only on the store level but also online! I had countertops installed and have spent the last 6 weeks trying to get the issue resolved. I call the 800 lowes number to be told the store will call within 24 hours and that does not happen. My mistake paying in full, I have no financial recourse, but get to spend my time tracking down managers. I should have known when the designer blew off our scheduled appointment and i had to wait 60 minutes to meet with someone else. read more

So... We finally found some faucets we liked which were on sale but unavailable at the Bolingbrook Lowes location. We were told they had them in Naperville. We traveled to Naperville and found the faucets; but at the regular price. When we walked up to the cashier to pay she told us they did not discount items from store to store. I said, "you're kidding me aren't you"? No, she wasn't kidding! She contacted the store manager who stated the same nonsense! "Lowes does not discount items from store to store". So... at a time when stores compete for your business, and either beat or match another stores price, Lowe's will not even honor another stores price !!! Seriously??? I've never heard of anything so ridiculous !!!!! Fortunately I contacted the Bolingbrook store manager who credited me the discounted amount. WHAT A JOKE! Don't get "custom" blinds here. Paid for them last summer. Paid for them to come measure so they would be right as what's the point of custom if they don't fit? It took almost a month after they arrived at my house to get in touch with their contractor to get them installed and Lowe's was no help with getting them in contact with us. Then they installed them and left and I realized the blackout blind in my daughters bedroom was too small and let it double the light the one in the master did. Guys. We've been fighting them since August 2019 and it's April of 2020. They even sent the installer back out here at least three months ago and he said it let in way too much light then he reported back and after a ton of back and forth with their blinds rep Cynthia she basically told us too bad it fits manufacture standards.... I was better off with my $20 pack of 6 black out paper blinds I bought off of amazon. The store managers are no help (if they even call you back). DONT BUY CUSTOM FROM LOWES. I spent $400+ on a blackout blind that doesn't even partially mask the light from outside in my daughters room. The installer even said it wasn't right and Lowe's won't make it right. read more

Sadly, I've got another terrible experience like many of the other people who have tried to use this company. It started on 12/9 through Lowe's on-line store. We placed an order for a new microwave, dishwasher and a double oven. With the double oven being beyond my skill set to install into the wall, I decided to have Lowe's install the products for me and boy am I regretting it. I was in contact with Pamela at the Naperville store on 12/11 to go over the paperwork and schedule the installation. She walked me through the process with the paperwork and explained the fees, but never mentioned that the installation wasn't the same day as the delivery. We also had to have someone come out to inspect our current double oven to make sure the new oven would fit correctly. The inspection took maybe 20 minutes and we were advised there would be an additional fee to make the double oven fit into the opening we have but again no one mentioned we would have schedule an installation on a different date than the delivery. We had to wait until the products were ready to ship (took two weeks) and it was originally scheduled to deliver on December 26th, which didn't work for my wife and I. We rescheduled the delivery for Saturday, December 29th and were told the appliances would be delivered between 17:00-21:00, which took over our Saturday but at least we'd have our appliances. The delivery guys got to our house early (which was great) but advised us they don't do the installation and that needed to be scheduled separately. Fine - I reached out to the same lady I was working with at the local store (Pamela) and she was out of store until January 1st. Okay, I followed up with her on Jan 1st and she told me she couldn't schedule the installation and I had to call the installation department. So I followed up with the installation department and was told the installers would reach out to me after I called. Waited all day - no call back. Called again Wednesday morning and I was told the same thing. I again waited all day and called back in the evening when I was told that nothing more could be done and that the team originally assigned to install my appliances canceled the installation and I needed to call back again to reschedule it. Followed up with them on Thursday (again, both in the morning and again in the evening) with the same results. When I requested to speak to a supervisor to express my frustration with the situation, I was told there are no supervisors on this team and I had no choice but to follow their advise and call in again to reschedule it. At this point, I'm beyond frustrated and reached out to their corporate office as well as the store itself to speak to a manager. A manager (Kayli) finally got involved Friday morning and connected me to the independent installer (Lisa) finally who scheduled the installation for next week but proceeded to tell me the reason for the issue was that their office was closed until Thursday, January 3rd (what???) and nobody was available to return calls or emails. I tried to call back to speak to Kayli about how frustrating this experience has been but she was now at lunch and would call me back. Guess what hasn't happened...yeah, her calling me back. I tried calling again for her and the results were the same - "she's not available and I can't help you beyond leaving a note for her." My installation is scheduled for 1/11...we'll see if it happens. At this point, the entire experience is making me wish I was never foolish enough to use this company. For those of you who are smart enough to read these reviews before you shop, get your appliances through a company who cares about their customers because Lowes doesn't...at all. 1/11 - Follow up - the installation happened, so that's the good news. I'm still waiting on the managers to follow up. Every time I call, I get told they're too busy but they'll call me back. read more

This one is about the local customer service and delivery. Their corporate customer service people are great, but their local people leave much to be desired. We went there on a Sunday to buy a fridge. They had one person in that dept who never was available to help us. Fine. Went online and ordered the fridge. Was told we would get a call about delivery that night and we never did. When I called Lowe's, they said the delivery had been rescheduled to Friday (and had still never called us). I said that was unacceptable so they set up a time for Tuesday. The fridge was delivered...without one of the doors for an inside shelf. Their local store said we never bought the fridge from them but luckily their corporate CS was on the line to say....um wait yes they did. Finally they admitted that yep, there should be a door there. Our option is to come in and get it. Gee, thanks. Why would I expect a new fridge to come with all of the parts anyway? I will be sticking with Home Depot I guess. read more

I'm currently working with Lowes of Naperville on 2 projects, a deck project and a sliding glass door installation. I give this store low ranks due to poor coordination and management of large jobs. First, sales guy is a great guy and does a great job selling you on the project. However, he promises things that cannot be delivered in the timeframe promised. Sales guy promptly gets paid in full for you to receive large rebate! My big mistake, DO NOT PAY in advance of work for the rebate....We were promised deck would be built "toward the end of SEPTEMBER", we paid the quoted price in JULY to take advantage of rebates (tens of thousands of dollars for our large deck project). Deck work did not begin until DECEMBER, and was not completed until JANUARY (many months after the job was promised to be done). We were told work would take 2 weeks once started. Of course, due to weather and holiday issues in WINTER, this did not happen. In the meantime, as we were waiting for deck work to begin, deck materials were delivered, on my driveway, by mistake, way in advance of deck work ever beginning. Lowes had to deliver and return them twice before getting it right. Communication between sales, installation, contractor, and materials delivery is poor. Also as we were awaiting work to begin, we were told Lowes would take care of permits - which they did, however,this process did not begin until many months went by - causing further delay when additional information was sought. This information needed had already been submitted to the install team at Lowes via e-mail, but apparently no one claimed to have received it. Deck work was completed and contractors did a very nice job. Dumpster which was in my driveway throughout the Christmas holidays was removed in January. However, when the contractors came back to clean up some other items (remaining wood, etc), I noticed a large amount of cement rubble still around the perimeter of my pool. When asked about this, the contractor said that he does not remove the cement rubble, they just spread it around. I am still awaiting response from Lowes about leaving the job-site with cement rubble still remaining. It is a significant amount and I am not happy about it being left. The contractors also left several large posts in the grass beside my driveway. Due to neighbor complaints, my husband has also moved this into our garage, as we await its removal by Lowes. Now the sliding glass door. The door was delivered when they said it would be, however, the door was damaged. Unfortunately, the contractors installing the door did not realize this until they had already removed the old door. After talking with the independent contractor, he agreed to reinstall the old door as I await a replacement for the new, damaged door. The damaged door is still sitting in my garage at the present time. I am still awaiting response from Lowes as to when to expect delivery and install of the new, replacement door. I give Lowes 1 star as opposed to zero stars because the contractors did a nice job on the deck and it looks quite nice. I would hire these contractors directly to do other work, but would not use Lowes to manage the work. Clearly, we have a lot of money in the form of a rebate (it was a large deck!), so we obviously will be buying some appliances some time soon. I'm not looking forward to dealing with Lowes again, but I will have to as my money is tied up. To sum up - great contractor for our deck project - poor management by Lowes. My advice is to not get drawn in to using them for a large project, and do not be lured by rebates, as the benefit may not outweigh the painful service experience. read more

I would not even like to give Lowes one star. My husband and I went in to order a new front door and glass sliding door about 3 months ago. We are not planning on staying in our house too much longer so we weren't trying to get something too expensive or custom and lowes seemed to have better options than Home Depot at the time. We picked out a couple doors and had an installer come measure and went and purchased the doors paying for them upfront and in full. We signed a contract that said we would have them delivered and installed in 35 days. Seemed simple enough. After the door was delivered to Lowes they called us and said it was damaged and they would be unable to instal it and they ordered a new one. At that time they mentioned giving us a rebate but said they couldn't guarantee anything until after the instal, which seemed a little fishy. A few days ago we received a call that the second door was in and we would be getting a call from the install company to schedule a time for them to come install the new doors. It has now been about 2.5 months since the original order. The install company did call us and said that they would not be able to install the door until the middle of July, almost 4 months after we originally purchased the door. We have not received any apology phone calls from lowes or any reimbursement for our hassles. We will never be ordering anything from Lowes again. read more

Well where can I start, I walked into this Lowes yesterday to purchase a new fridge and range. After waiting over 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge my existince the only employee working there looked at me and said it was going to be a "while" as he was already attending another customer. I'm patient no worries so I wait another 5 min and another employee asks if she can help. I ask her about a few different models and if they were in stock, and I can see the frustration in her face. I remind her that I'm not there to just look I'm ready and willing to buy as long as they're in stock. Well turns out LG appliances are all "special order" and they have no idea when they're available. Ok no worries I look at other brands as she's writing down the item numbers and she says you don't want the "counter depth they're more expensive". Its amazing how some employees only care about clocking in and out and could care less if they do their job or not. At the end of the day they don't care it's a just a job for them. Long story short I left and went to Lowes in Bolingbrook. I bought the exact appliances I wanted in LG $3500 and they were not only in stock but available for next day delivery. Avoid this Lowes go somewhere else where they won't ask you whether something is to "expensive". read more

Inexperienced and needing carpet, in the end, we drove to 5 retailers shopping for carpet: Luna Gallery, Home Depot, Menard's, Olson Rugs and Lowe's. And we had a in-home Luna sales guy visit our home. Luna was our first call. Learn from our mistake don't call Luna, Don't let Luna in your home. Go to Lowe's in Naperville, Illnois for your carpet needs. We did the work and wasted the time. We know Lowe's is the best place to purchase carpet for many reasons. They have a seceret weapon, a wide selection and they are the only retailer that documents carpet density. Most retailers only want to talk face weight. Olson Rugs Naperville almost was my worst carpet shopping experience. An older man at the Naperville Olson store eyes glazed over when I started talking carpet specifications. When I asked about density of a particular carpet he walked away never to return. The worst experience was with the in-home Luna carpet guy Brian. Do yourself a favor don't let Luna in your home. But, I digress. Lowe's seceret weapon is Carlos in the Naperville store. Carlos in the carpet department is the best of the best, a nice guy and great sales person. My comments are based on several encounters with Carlos. After Carlos walked us around the carpet department and educated us we went back to our in-home Luna carpet guy Brian. It became clear Brain the Luna in-home carpet guy did not know his product, carpet. Carlos at the Naperville Lowe's store taught us the difference between, twist, density and face weight. Brian from Luna spent over an hour in our house and never once mentioned the terms: twist, face weight or density. He charged us double for what we later discovered to be an inferior carpet. He sold using emotion and the old good, better and best concept. We made the mistake and did not shop around until we had problems with our carpet delivery from Luna. The carpet they sent was a much cheaper carpet than the one we paid for. Don't let the Luna jingle influence you. Don't call Luna. Carpet is a long term investment shop with Lowe's and Carlos. Great company, nice selection, educated sales people. The next time you are in Lowe's Naperville go over to carpet and say hello to Carlos. He's the best. read more

I would give lower if it were possible, I went in tonight (Friday at 5:30) for a couple of gallons of paint, couldn't find anyone in paint so asked cashier if they could page someone for me, waited another 10 min, still no help, so asked for the manager on duty, another 5-10 min and still nothing either at the paint desk of the manager. Mind you it was not at all busy, I may have seen two or three people in the store. Very disappointing experience. The good thing is I went to another store and was able to get the paint I needed without any wait. read more

Do not go to this location. Was over charged $600.00 for countertop, fortunately I caught it. In addition current sale included stainless steel sink if purchase was over 25 feet of granite countertops, we satisfied that ( over 75 sq feet) and was shown 3 different stainless steel sinks. We chose one of the 3, then was charged $230.00. When going to stone vendor to choose our slab- Lowes had not sent our information, one sales person said to go to Elk Grove Village location, the other told us to go to Kentucky. Communication is non existent, spoke with Bryan a manager at this location did not hear back from him so spoke with Keith- the manager of the managers at this location - after our conversation he stated he would call us back regarding issues with our order. Our refrigerator bit the dust and so we did a mad dash to several stores looking for a replacement. I knew that I needed a specific size to fit the current space. For some reason Lowes doesn't print the dimensions of the refrigerator or the price differences for stainless steel or other colors. I assume the reason is that they what you to talk to a sales person. The issues is that 4-5 sales people were working and not one approached us because they were all talking to each other. I had to ask one of them for assistance. She finished her conversation with her coworker and then waited on us. She looked up the information about the model I wanted and said it was it available. The price was the same as Home Depot so decided that Home Depot had better customer service so we purchased our new refrigerator from Home Depot. Yes! Customer service still matters even if you are a big box store. read more

I'm always asked if I need help and there are plenty of employees around. This isn't my local Lowes, unfortunately. My local store never has what I want. I called the Naperville store first to see if they had the faucet I was in search of-the person I spoke with said it was in stock. After arriving at the store, I found it very bright with large aisles and plenty of sales help. I was directed to the faucets but I was looking for a chrome finish and what I found was in a different finish. I asked a nearby associate, he took me where that faucet was located, handed over the box and explained that everything I needed was in the box. We chatted for a few minutes about the cheap builder faucet I currently had and replacing it with a Moen. When I checked out the cashier was also very friendly - it was a quick check-out. The whole process was easy and fast. The Moen faucet I purchased is lovely and of high quality, sometimes it is better to pay a little more to get a quality, heavy product. read more

Purchased a Charbroil Professional Series 4 burner grill two years ago from the Lowes of Naperville and had explained to the employee working that the last charbroil grill I had the burner tents started to rust and fall apart. The employee told me to purchase the extended protection plan so that it this happens within the first three years Lowes will replace the parts. So fast forward two years and now I have the same issue with the burner tents, they are starting to fall apart as well as a large whole over the propane tank on a piece of sheet metal that cannot be replaced. I call the warranty division and after speaking with Tracy was told that the EPP does not cover issues caused by rust only natural wear and tear on the grill (I was also told a tech could come and inspect the grill but I would have to pay for this). So I explained to her that the nature of how and where a grill is located rust is natural wear and tear. She then advised me she would advise a supervisor and this person would make a decision to buy out the grill within five days. So what should have been a simple call to have my grill replaced under the EPP has not turned into a longer drawn out issue. Will have to see after five days if Lowes decided to honor the EPP they worked so hard to sell to me. read more

Floor help and service has typically been good. However, bought a fridge there 3/15 to be delivered by the 3/28 or so. They were to call and verify the date and delivery schedule a week by 3/21. As of 3/30 they never called. We've called twice to schedule and they've said they'd call back. Never called back. Called tonight, was put on hold, picked up and put back on hold 8 times. Obviously not customer service oriented. Find a local place that cost a bit more but where the business actually care. Whatever you do, do not purchase something that they have to put on order and deliver! You'll see similar stories about delivery with Lowe's, should have paid more attention. read more

Upon ordering them in-store they were even less expensive! I had an issue with my slide-in stove and they resolved it easily and quickly. The delivery service was wonderful and the installers were awesome. The two guys who came to install the dishwasher and stove were quite possibly the nicest service guys I have ever met! Purchased an Albany door less than a year ago. The glass fell out and Albany "repaired" it. Same thing happened over a week ago and now cold air is streaming through the gaps in the door. Lowes customer service completely inadequate in resolving the situation after trying to resolve with them for 1 week. I had to talk to the owner of Albany doors. Extremely rude and unaccommodating. If you are in the market for a front door DO NOT purchase an Albany Door. Poor workmanship and customer service! read more
