If yall only have ONE person to do paint production WHY are they not there when a customer is present. INSTEAD of having a customer WAIT A WHILE how about grab an associate to go replace him so he can take care of the customer who needs paint. I know yall don't care and that's the problem. Chuck at this location was phenomenal. I ordered same day delivery and it was a nightmare... The driver said it was delivered, but it never was. Chuck worked through and through with the third party company to make sure I got my order delivered. He gave me calls and kept me up to date with everything involving getting my order to my house. Chuck is the only reason I didn't just ask for a refund and go to Home Depot, and Chuck is the only reason I will be returning to this Lowe's-he showed that he really cared about his customer and providing top notch service. I had a leak in my kitchen sink, the plumber came out but the whole unit has to be changed. So I went into lowes hoping I could get a quick fix until the plumber can come back as I am out of silverware and bowls and Refuse to clean with only cold water! I had no idea what to get? Eddie in plumbing section was waiting on 2 other people so he told me the isle I needed and as I was looking still did not see what would help, he came into the isle and walked me over and explained to me what would work best. Thank goodness for Eddie who not only knew how to help but was also a veteran so I immediately thanked him for his service to our country and for guiding me in the right direction ! Went into this establishment twice today , first time was for a pair of bolt cutters and the second time was for a water heater ( it's been a rough day). BUT luckily Eddie from Long Island, NY was working today .The guy ironically helped me both times and literally was doing something else before I asked for help and went above and beyond to help me and my wife today. I was blown away by his customer service, it was 5 star ! Not sure if he is a manager already or not but he definitely needs to be so this type of customer service can be taught to others. I have never experienced such terrible customer service as I have at this Lowe's location. The employees are rude, unhelpful, and clearly lack even basic training. They do not assist in-store, and when you ask for help, they either brush you off or give misinformation. The contractors Lowe's sends out are lazy, incompetent, and completely unprofessional. The store itself is unorganized and chaotic. It is impossible to find what you need without spending forever wandering around, and even then the staff won't bother to point you in the right direction. To make matters worse, management is just as bad, if not worse, than the associates. They are incompetent and do not want to work. The Regional Manager, Ashley, is a complete liar who refuses to take accountability and makes excuses instead of resolving issues. She should not be in a leadership position at all. She completely mishandled and misspoke on a situation, completely wasting my time and money. Lowes has shady business practices. They lie, steal money, and refuse to make things right when they mess up orders or installations. It is beyond frustrating to spend your hard-earned money at a store that clearly does not care about its customers. This is hands down the worst place to shop for home improvement. Service.!!! Check in for items to be brought out to my elderly mother. Then have to call and get passed around and on hold. Then told okay . Then no show . Repeat call and repeat constant hold. I ordered a floor installation through Lowes and have had a terrible experience. There has been constant miscommunication and 3 delays in delivering my flooring materials to my house--resulting in the project taking significantly longer than I was originally told. We finally got the materials delivered only for the installation company to tell me that they could not install the flooring due to my house not being fully level and recommending I get carpet instead. I then go into the store to select a carpet only to learn that they no longer have my measurements--or at least the employee could not find them. I now have to go through scheduling another measurement appointment for carpet just to start the process all over again. I'm beyond frustrated with this process and the Lowes team. I'll update my review when/if I ever get the carpet installed. read more

My recent experience at Lowe's, here in Portsmouth, was really excellent. I went there looking for two specific items. Cisco went above and beyond to find both items for me. Others may have just given up and said they didn't have it in stock, but he got another associate to help him and they were able to locate both pieces. I left Lowe's feeling so satisfied that I was able to get good help and the merchandise I went for. I had to return the next day for more of that item and a few other things. Everyone in every department I visited (lumber and paint) was very friendly and helpful. Even the checkout process was pleasant! Good job, guys!! read more

I'm a independent shopper, I like to ask for help when I need it. Because of this preference I really dislike too much employee interruption while I'm minding my business, I like to read labels and compare it takes time. I think this Lowe's would be better if they leave shoppers that's not looking for help be. I got asked "do you want help " too much- it made me feel uncomfortable like me and my teenagers are targeted for suspicion of shoplifting. Mind you we had dress clothes on , it was Sunday. I noticed that the employees bugging us were of one demographic that's the majority in this country and we are not . Was originally emailed that Sept 28 the materials would be aquired and the install team would take 7 days later, but nothing. I have since called 5 times, each time I'm told they will follow up with update but they never do. I paid too much for this poor of customer service and the run around. Lowe's, and the Portsmouth store on Victory in particular, has been fairly mediocre for a long time. There are always a few people working there who are excellent and know exactly what to do. We used to go to the Chesapeake Square store but stopped a while ago because the people working there were abysmal and the manager was worse- probably the reason the workers were so awful. We've returned there because the store at Victory is the reigning champion for utter rudeness and b$&"$:-. I've been at some really great stores, just not in this region. Expect to have management be ruder than the staff- which is merely less competent than rude 80% with 20% professional. For all I know it's the same manager from Chesapeake Square. I've learned to hate that store and go online unless it's an emergency or back to Home Depot. read more

Delivery was supposed to 8/20 they lied, sent me some materials that looks like it's their "defaulted" materials that need to go back to the manufacturer. My husband and I frequent this Lowe's frequently since we moved here. Customer service is always great! Everything you need for landscaping, yard improvements, you name it they have everything from light bulbs, seeds for planting, flowers, decorations during Christmas, wood, Paint, cleaning supplies, storage containers etc. We recently bought adorable owl curtains for a friends daughter's newly decorated bedroom, new curtains for our living room and a bbq set! If you order a bbq pitt ( we ordered a gas one) online ahead of time- they assemble it for you! Saved my husband time in the heat putting it all together, just make sure you have a truck to put it in ! They also have military discounts ! read more

I have spent tens of thousands of dollars at Lowe's over the years, mostly renovating different homes. I loved Lowe's and their employees until recently. I know problems occur here and there but this one takes the cake! I will NEVER go back!!! We needed sky blue touch up paint, however unbeknownst to us the employee had sprayed magenta dye in the crevice beside the lid. When we asked what the red spot was in the sample spot on top of the lid, the employee replied, "it came from his finger tip and not to worry." However, once we were at home and opened the lid the magenta dye sprayed onto furniture and tan carpeting. We immediately brought it back and reported it to a manager, who seemed very concerned and kept it and told us that he would put in a claim with the Store manager the next day. We never heard back from anyone. So we went back into the store a few times to see how they were going to rectify the situation; unfortunately the Store manager never seemed to be there. After many attempts going back to the store I finally saw him and regardless as to my issue, he proceeded to show me on his computer screen racist reviews from customers. I did express my compassion and disgust over these negative reviews, but it was completely irrelevant to our concern. I then wasn't surprised when he told me he had been transferred from another store. He finally agreed to reimburse me for Stanley Steemer, for which I accepted but let him know if it did not help I expected more compensation. He then quickly took a call that he stated was from his supervisor regarding these reviews. Unfortunately the Stanley Steemer process did not help and I was told "it was way too late". So again, after many trips back to the store to see the Store manager, we were 'granted' a meeting to see him. Then after standing around for 40 minutes a Lowe's employee asked us to follow her through the store, into the back, down a long hallway to where the Store manager sat in a small office behind a desk and the employee was asked to stay, presumably to corroborate his treatment of this in advance. The Store Manager told us that it was not the store's responsibility to compensate us once it had left the store, and he now has a conference meeting and we must leave. We asked him for the Lowe's corporate number so we could contact them directly. He scratched down the number on a small piece of paper, but told us it wouldn't change anything because it would be handed right back to him and he would still refuse any help. So even with all this I still continued to shop there once or twice for emergency purchases like bulbs for recessed lighting which turned out to be the wrong bulbs and needed to return them. As I stood in front of customer service while my return was being processed, I looked up and noticed a green box around my face on a screen. It was obviously FACE RECOGNITION! So not only were we led to a back office like criminals, and now this face recognition. I googled it and apparently customers are uninformed regarding face recognition. That's it, and as an Interior Designer I will NEVER shop there again!!! read more

I am hoping to remove the tub and replace it with a steam shower. Also new vanity mirror and fixtures. Looked at paint samples. I am considering a soft gray or tan tone. The help I received from Dustin & James in the plumbing department made replacing my garbage disposal a lot easier than it could have been! I still managed to go there nearly 6 times in a 24 hour period because I either forgot something like plumbers putty or made a mistake in gluing together a couple of PVC pieces that I shouldn't have. Stupid mistakes keep the do-it-yourself encouraging hardware stores in business haha I will actually be coming back to swap out the Flex Seal I bought for the under sink area as it says clear, but I thought it was a can of the white Flex Seal the way the label was designed. I didn't notice until I was getting ready to slap a coat down to protect the base of the cabinet in the event my installation was a failure! I'm going to blame the fact that I was there at 6am for why I grabbed the wrong can, sleep deprivation & whatnot :D Lowe's also offers a 5% veterans/military discount, so that's always nice to get a little price break on your projects. The exchanges on items has also been pretty painless, so that's a plus for the guy that buys a lot of items to fix a problem & returns the excess. I was mostly just running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to complete this project so I could have my kitchen sink back! read more

Placed an online order ($250+) and waited a couple of hours for the "your pickup order is ready-email", to no avail. So, I went to the store and asked if I could get the items myself and bring them up to the counter to be checked out. The employee that assisted me said yes, that's fine. So, I went and got all of the items together and returned to the counter about 20 minutes later. When I got back to the counter, the employee asked for my order number, which I gave her. Then, she asks, "Did you cancel your order?" I said, "No, I didn't cancel it, why?" She says, "I can't find it."... I'm confused.... I just looked at it on my phone before I went to get all of the items myself. Then she says, "Oh, it looks like it was transferred to the other store in Chesapeake." Mind you, I just looked at the order 20 minutes ago and I specifically ordered it for this Lowes in Portsmouth. Now the employee tells me to call the Chesapeake Lowes and ask them to transfer it back to the Portsmouth store (you know, instead of doing it herself because clearly something was done on their end between the time I arrived and the time I came back to the counter to check out with the items) I ended up leaving the cart full of items at the front and telling them I'd be back when they get it straightened out, which I'm assuming they didn't. I canceled the order and left the stuff there. In conclusion, don't order anything for pickup unless you're willing to wait several hours (toward the end of the day) to pick it all up and just hope that it doesn't get transferred to another store you didn't want to pick it up from. read more

I'm blown away this Lowe's has 4 stars (no accounting for taste). Honestly I haven't read the other reviews, so maybe they don't have a process, for gaging a review. Customer Service, I cannot stand laziness. This Lowe's is full of rude uncaring, standing around, gossiping employees. It wasn't just the one time, I went there; but ALL four times. I almost couldn't stop laughing when I actually had a full blown altercation with a woman working there. When I found her, she was talking with another employee (it appeared they were arguing about something). I waited, they could see me standing there, yet continued to talk. So, I asked "Hi I hate to interrupt you, but do you know where I can find...?" This really upset the female employee, because now she had to move her a**. She spoke to me so rude, I stopped, and said, "Are you alright?" I was sincere when I asked. She asked "No... Are you alright?" "ME?!? Yes, I'm fine actually. The reason why I asked you, was because you seem very annoyed, am I keeping you from something?" I replied. Suddenly she realized I wasn't going to back down and my broad smile obviously indicated I had the upper hand. I couldn't believe it took so long for a manager to step in and help my locate the item the previous woman tried to tell me didn't exist. I like to SELF CHECKOUT, because it's easy now. All four times I have shopped here, the SELF CHECKOUT POLICE tried their hardest to get me to wait in a line. Don't tell me what to do, especially when you were no where to be found when I needed help. Lowe's in Portsmouth has rude employees, there items are hard to locate, especially when someone is telling you it doesn't exist. I hate to say it: my boyfriend and I were those people that came in 30 minutes before closing trying to buy a patio set. I felt terrible doing that to them, but it was kind of spur of the moment and we really wanted to get it done. Zachary was the BEST staff person I have ever met. He was pleasant, super happy, very helpful! Grabbed me a big cart and grabbed his buddy and loaded my stuff up for me without me even asking. Wow, seriously, someone promote this kid. Seriously- Give ZACHARY A PROMOTION. I've never had anyone that calm and nice to me especially 30 minutes before closing. If I could do negative stars I would. This is a terrible company, and the Victory Crossing location in Portsmouth, VA is a terrible store. My father made this company and this location hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales for outdoor power equipment, and they fired him after 10+ (16 years I think) years of loyal service. Customers loved him, his coworkers loved him, and they [Lowe's] treat him like this!!!!! I will never shop at this or any other Lowe's ever again. I will not condone this utter disrespect to the people that actually make money for the company. One of the previous managers told my dad that they will be getting rid of his position, but they were going to move him to another store or department to protect him. A new manager walks in and says, "the other guy was wrong. There will be no position for you to move to and we will be letting you go." Unacceptable. My father doesn't know that I am posting this and probably never will; he wouldn't do something like this, but I am because he deserves better. I have heard many horror stories from other people as well; people that get close to retiring and then end up being laid off or fired for stupid reasons. I think Lowe's just doesn't want to let employees retire.... I've had multiple orders canceled even after order in the store with a associate, long waits as they only ever have 1 register open, and the customer service is terrible. We are a fence company that uses Lowe's in many locations at various times. I called and spoke with a lovely young lady today by the name of Makaela. She was polite, kind, well spoken and a total asset to Lowe's for her dedication to service. It was a total joy dealing with her. She answered the phone promptly, in spite of helping another customer, kindly put me on hold and got back to me within seconds, NOT MINUTES, but seconds. She then proceeded to, with a smile in her voice and as dutifully as she could, help me with an order for curbside pickup by one of our crews for the next morning!! We ordered doors to be installed at the end of January they came out in March to install them and they were broken the front door was salvageable but the back door was destroyed. They reordered it and came today to install it and it's damaged. I try to call them and everyone passes the buck I paid over $3200 upfront once they get your money they don't care about the end result. I never write reviews but this was the worst experience I have ever had with any company I would rate zero stars if I could I feel like I was scammed I've been told to never pay the total upfront but I thought Lowe's was reputable but I was way wrong. They are no better than some fly by night contractor. For your own sanity deal with some one else save yourself the headache I have. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I wanted a low priced light fixture for my bathroom and my garage needs a new weatherproof sealer around the door so I decided to go online and found what I was looking for on Lowe's and I saw it was free shipping so I proceeded to check this out for DELIVERY! A month passes and I hear nothing, so I call their help line. The person over the phone tells me it's held up at Portsmouth, VA Lowe's and that I should call them because he is not able to get a hold of them. I call them multiple times to them hanging up on me and not transferring me to the right department. Myself and my wife do this for the next 3 days. Finally, someone answers me and they tell me that the package was sent to their store for PICK UP! I proceed to tell them that I had made the order for delivery and they say " that's not what it says on our end." So I ask for a manager. To which I never speak to one and their supposed "pro" desk tries to fix the problem for me. They set it up for delivery to my house that they almost had me pay for. After another week, I call back and they say it was never sent out for delivery and they had no idea I even tried. So then a lady says that they will put it out for immediate delivery with fed ex and again I asked for a manager (never spoke with one). So another week passes and still nothing. I call back and they say it was never delivered so I ask them after a month and a half of not receiving my order can I just get a refund and they say they would do that and also if I could speak with a manager (again doesn't happen). So 2 weeks pass and I receive no refund so I called back today and ask for a manager ( they said they would take care of it) even though I kept asking for a manager. The lady put me on hold for 10 minutes to get back on the phone to tell me that the refund was never processed 2 WEEKS ago (a total of 2 months now) and that she just spoke with the parcel department because it's a two step process and that it would take 7-10 business days to receive my return. So by the end of this if I actually do receive my refund in 7-10 business days it will have been close to 2 months and a half. Worst customer service I've seen in my life. They tell you one thing but it never happens. They must not have a manager in the whole store. Never do business under this store unless you wanna play limbo with your money for the rest of your life. read more

I called for a product and drove a long way because I was told that it was in stock (20 in stock). I asked for help from the front desk, where they paged the seasonal department and did not offer anything else. So after standing there a while I asked another person at the service desk to at least scan it and telle where it is. I found one on the shelf asked for help once I found the seasonal employee that ignored being called to helpe in the first place. He said he would look but I found him 2 minutes later doing his job that I found him doing. He said the system is probspro just wrong. So I realized nobody would help me and I looked up in the rafters until I found it by item number and asked a random employee to help me get a ladder. His name was Joshua and he was pushing carts from the parking lot. He was the only person to give any care to help me. This has been my experience every time I come here. I don't know if people aren't trained or they are just completely lazy. My guess is a combination of both. Don't come here if you will need any kind of assistance at all. read more

I would give them negative stars if I could. My husband and I walked in a few days ago to this Lowe's. We had just moved to the neighborhood and are doing a lot of work on the home we just purchased. We walked back to the doors to check into French doors to replace the current sliding glass doors. There were three associates in the department. All of them walked past us without acknowledging us even just to say "I'm with another customer but I will be back with you as soon as possible". It was 6 am so there wasn't actually any other customers in department but giving them the benefit of the doubt ... when one of the associates finally did acknowledge us he did so with the clear attitude that we were interrupting him and an obvious inconvenience. We asked if they had the french door in a larger size and he said "no it would have to be custom ordered" Period. If I wanted to help people and actually do my job of selling a pair of $2000 French doors I would say "we don't have those stocked but we can custom order them in larger sizes. Can I get you a quote for that?" We walked away and let them man go back to chit chatting with his friend which we had obviously interrupted. But maybe this was just a one time deal. Maybe the other associates are better. Nope. Three different occasions we walked in and we're treated like an inconvenience by the associates in the last week. I've laid down $10,000 in materials for my house in the last few weeks. Not another penny will go to this Lowes. I can go to the Other Lowes, Home Depot, or Taylor's Do-It-Yourself or simply order online. read more
