Ace is a much easier in and out than Lowe's or Home Depot. They are also locally owned franchises. So you can support your community by shopping here. I still get some things at Lowe's but most of the time I'm shopping at Ace for tools, hardware, paint, lighting, etc. This time I needed some brackets to hold up a shelf (they had the right size in three colors) and some 40W appliance bulbs. They had those in clear or frosted. The store is very well organized, and incredibly well stocked! The employees were indeed helpful. I am a fan!

Every single visit I get employees who don't have a clue about hardware or where to find things in their store. And they always are desperately trying to sell stuff that's not even close to what I need! (Commission?) Today was my last visit. Four employees and three of them were totally useless. The clerk at the counter was too apathetic to bag my items, so I had to bag everything myself. Got to car and some random stranger starts yelling profanity at me from across the parking lot. Truly, this is THE worst Ace on the planet! Poor selection, terrible customer service, and all around bad vibe.

Location: 8/10 HF is never crowded, even during peak times. It's easy to get in and out even though the parking lot is kind of small. It's right on Santa Fe (135th) which is always busy no matter what time of the day. Overall: 9/10 HF is a great place to find super affordable tools that will get you through whatever project you are working on. I call it in my under $1 store, because I usually spend pocket change buying a screw. At Hartman & Sons, I just walk up to the counter, tell them I need a screw, and they take me where I want to go, quickly and efficiently and, most importantly, with a smile. I've done this over 30 times and every time the result's the same. They recommend and show me the exact thing that I need. They never try to upsell me or make me buy in bulk. If Harman & Sons were reviewing me, I'm sure they would give me 1 star. Because when I'm going to spend $20 or something, I go to Home Depot or Lowe's. I'm the jerk who only uses the store because of their excellent service. I'm a taker. Which is exactly why I'm giving it 5 stars, I'm trying to give back.

They close at 5:00pm. I realize that showing up 15 minutes before closing is annoying for an employee. If I were going to be browsing, asking a lot of questions, buying a lot of product, or requesting a lot of paint colors that this would be frustrating for an employee who was going to be closing in 15 minutes. However, because the only thing I needed was to have a can of Sherwin-Williams paint shaken, which I already bought at another location on an earlier date and brought with me I didn't think it would be too inconvenient for him. I knew it would not take me past closing time. I walked in and smiled at the guy working and he immediately looked at his watch and gave me a dirty annoyed look and huffed. I started to say, "I know you close in 15 minutes but.....". I couldn't even finish my sentence before he rudely cut me off and said, "I can't help you, sorry." I was so stunned by his rude behavior that I just turned around and walked out immediately. He followed me, at a distance, and immediately turned off the open sign and locked the door just as another gentleman was walking up to the store. The other man looked at me and I just shrugged and said I got the same treatment. So rude! Terrible service! Do not recommend.
