I made an order yesterday for a job I'm doing, about 10 miles from the store. I paid $69 for a scheduled delivery. Today I see that the delivery is "delayed." I called the store and they said it's "not a Lowe's delivery," it's a gig delivery, meaning that they put it out there and hope someone wants to pick it up and bring it to me. So, I paid $69 to...maybe get my delivery? And they can't tell me if or when that will happen. $5,100 Door Disaster - Lowe's & East Coast Millwork Should Be Ashamed After six months of waiting, I finally received an exterior door I purchased through Lowe's -- and what arrived was unfinished, unpainted, and poorly installed by their subcontractor, East Coast Millwork. The door came from the vendor only primed, with raised, visible plugs all around the molding. It was installed anyway, and the workmanship was terrible: misaligned hardware, scuffed surfaces, sloppy caulking that fell out after one day of rain, and a screen door that doesn't close or seal properly. My home is now exposed to the weather heading into winter. To make matters worse, East Coast Millwork admitted before installation that the door was damaged, told me to inform Lowe's, and then lied afterward, denying it completely. Both companies have refused to take responsibility or provide a fix. I've spent $5,100 and six months waiting, and I'm left with an unfinished door that looks like a factory reject. I decided to take advantage of Lowe's same day delivery, big mistake. I placed on order on a Friday, received a confirmation that the delivery would be made later that day. At 8pm, still no delivery. I called the store, no one could help me. I then received an email indicating that my order was delayed and would be delivered the next day, Saturday. Waited on Saturday, around 2pm, I reached out to their chat service because the store was no help. Chat service also was no help and just could confirm the order was placed. I had hired folks to work on the yard on Saturday, so ended up paying labor without the delivery. At this point, I called the store again and no one could help me. Asked to speak to the manager, and was told I would receive a call back. Never received a call back. Finally received a confirmation on Sunday that my order was ready for pick up, which means they never even processed the order until Sunday. I received my delivery Sunday afternoon while I wasn't home. The delivery was dropped in my driveway which was great, but the man in his pickup truck who delivered it left a pallet in my driveway as well. Trash. The entire recessed light section is a disaster. Half the boxes are smashed to pieces, the other half are covered in dust. Found a box of baffle lights that would have fit my fixtures. They're just 4" LED baffle lights. Extremely common but somehow Lowes has only a couple scattered boxes to pick from. The box is ripped, smashed, bent and obviously opened and rummaged through a million times. I open it up (because why not at this point) and take a look at the manufacturing date on the units: January 2019. This box has been kicking around Lowe's for FIVE YEARS. Wish I looked at these reviews before ever going to the Saugus Lowes Store. In the end I told them that I'd buy a rusty nail from Home Depot before ever setting foot in their store again. All they could say was that they were sorry to hear that. Here is a timeline of my issues with Lowes. 6/12: Purchased a GE stacked Washer/ Gas Dryer for $1,088.64 (This was for a disabled persons trailer that I am a caretaker for). Installation was setup for Tuesday 6/17 6/17: CSRT (Installer) came to my friends trailer but couldn't install because they said the Washer/Dryer wasn't there. Contacted Lowes and they said that the installer should've picked it up but the Installer said it was a stacked Washer/Dryer and not stackable and Lowes should've known to deliver. Setup a delivery of the Washer/Dryer with Lowes for Thursday 6/24. 6/23 I called Lowes to ensure delivery of Washer/Dryer and was told it was on the truck. 6/24 Was called by my friend and asked if it was getting delivered today. Went to Lowes and they couldn't tell me why it wasn't delivered but would have it delivered Friday 6/25 6/25 Washer/Dryer delivered. I contacted CSRT (Installer to have them come out to install). Installation was setup for 7/1. 6/30 Receive text from installer with time frame they'd be out on 7/1. They also asked if the foil vent had been replaced and up to Massachusetts code. This is the first I'm hearing about this. Lowes then informs me that I need to get a plumber to perform this work before CSRT can do the installation. Again I ask why this was the first I'm hearing of it but they couldn't explain why. I coordinated with CSRT and they had a plumber that could do the vent on 7/2 and then they would install on 7/3. 7/2 A plumber came out and installed the new hard vent. $630 for 15 minutes of work. Asked for itemized bill that I've yet to see. 7/3 CSRT came out to install the Washer/Dryer but during the install found out that they needed a gas converter since the Trailer ran on Propane gas. Shouldn't everyone know that a trailer runs on propane gas. 7/7 Lowes contacted me about purchasing the gas converter kit and to pay for labor to install ($130). I asked if the converter kit was being delivered to my friends trailer or if installers were to pick up. They said installers would be picking up. Installation is setup for Tuesday 7/15. 7/15 Get a text message from CSRT that they went to Lowes to pickup the converter but it wasn't there so they had to reschedule. I went to Lowes to find out what happened and was told they needed to order from GE and it hadn't arrived yet even though Lowes sent me an installation notice for 7/15. Being told now that it would take up to 5 days before it arrives and they'll notify me when I can reschedule the installation. 7/18 Received text and email that they'd be coming out on 7/22 for final install. 7/22 Got a call that they were running behind and couldn't install. I asked why this install wasn't a priority since it was already 6 weeks since the purchase. Couldn't answer but said they'd be out early Friday 7/25 to finish. 7/25 Final got this finished. Can anyone explain to me why I had to get this involved and why the level of incompetence was at a complete all time high for this purchase. Apparently you expect the Customer to respect the associates but I don't feel as though my time was being respected. I spent literally hours trying to get this resolved and in the end had to beg the Manager at the Saugus, MA store to please help me finally get this resolved. They ended up not charging me for the converter kit and final installation. NEVER EVER set foot in this store. It's a complete nightmare. Recently I had the pleasure of meeting with Frayden Soto . He was a great representative of Lowe's shade and blinds department. I needed a privacy shade trimmed. I bought it , at a great price and brought it home ( without measuring it first, (‍). Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how knowledgeable Fraydon Soto was in this area. My experience at this Lowes (and any other Lowes) has been positive. A lot of the 1-star reviews here are for minor things which I believe are just part of the "experience" of shopping at a big box home improvement store. You trade things like super-attentive staff and inventory condition for selection, price and hours. If this Lowes did not exist, think of what you would have to do to track down equivalent products from local hardware stores which are typically only open until 6P. This Lowes is always well-lit, clean and well-stocked. I personally like going to a store where the salespeople are not breathing down my neck to help me. Yes you may need to exert a little effort sometimes to get some help, but being upset about that has more to do with the sense of entitlement of the shopper than the store itself. It's important to have a rival big box home improvement store in the area to keep prices at Home Depot as low as possible and vice versa. read more

Horrible Store Manager named Milenka. Bought a faulty Washing Machine for $500. Af1 year of use after warranty expired machine broke and would cost $500 to repair. Had to buy new one. Delivery service was very rude to me and refused to hook it up after I paid for delivery unless I purchased new hoses. My hoses were metal and bought from them when I bought last machine a little over a year ago. The delivery person told me he was going to call his supervisor and instead drove off leaving my machine in the middle of the floor partially blocking my exit door. He also forgot to drain hose before leaving causing water all over my carpet. When I complained to manager she said she had no control over outside delivery service that they use. A young girl Jenna assigned to Appliances was rude, poorly trained, spoke in monosyllables and glared at me when I sad her attitude needed work. I asked (her boss?) @ the laptop for help and he just reassigned Jenna to us. I asked for the Manager on duty @ Customer Service and were told his name was Jim and could not be reached and hus full name was undisclosable. Simply awful. This is not the first time we've encountered terrible customer service @ this business. (Fool me twice shame on me!) Awful experience from start to end. I had an issue with payment since I needed to have transaction completed to receive a credit before the end of the year. The customer service was so confrontational and unhelpful that I gave up. The girl over the counter could not have cared less, grabbed someone else and asked me to repeat my question. It's not worth the $50 to have to spend hours on end and be passed to multiple people. When my item was ready for pickup, there was no preparation for my item at the service desk. I'm still sitting here waiting after 20 minutes for someone to find what I ordered online and was told we ready for pickup. HORRIBLE. I decided to go to Lowe's to pick up some more vegetable plants and some soil it's a rainy night I ended up with just five extra bags of soil it was too dark to look at the plans and they were a little bit too pricey for me. A bag of organic soil for under four dollars I find that to be an excellent buy. As I walked through the front door I had a few questions on the American flags there was a holder to bolt on to a building which I needed mine broke last year the staff was very helpful in giving me the price the price was only $11 excellent value for a metal flag holder. Wallow back searching for my soil and vegetable plants I asked the clerk in the flower department a price on some cushions he seemed a bit rude and then I asked how much a planter was and he seemed very perturbed I decided to just stick with the soil and the flag holder and call it a night. I have always had a good experience at Lowes in Saugus despite the store is further away from my house. I can't say the same about Home Depot. Sometimes I wonder how they are still in business. Most times you are unable to find someone at Home Depot in Salem to help you locate anything and when you do find someone.. thy will quickly point you down an isle and walk off. Despite most times it is not in that isle. I find the opposite at Lowes Saugus. They are friendly and willing to help and will most times walk with you to the item that you are looking for. Except recently.., I ordered an item to be picked up in the Saugus store. I arrived at location only to find one person at the desk who told me that the girl who handled pickup was in the back room and will be right out. Despite been in a hurry I waited diligently only to see the rep responsible for pickup stepped past me at the counter and head out to the store floor without any acknowledgement.. The Rep that was at the other counter beckon to her that their is a customer waiting for pickup. She span around and responded that she will be back. Several minutes later she return with a package. I was very upset that she had me wait for her to show up at her station and then waited again for her to head across the floor to grab some package which was not mine instead of attending to me despite having any one else at the counter for pickup...nor show any form of courtesy or acknowledgement of me standing their at her post. I thought about leaving after several minutes of waiting but endured since my wife and kids were outside in the car waiting and I needed to get the item for Thanks giving preparation. I believe that Lowes need to be more vigilant with the people to whom the recruit to work in customer service. it is moments like these which will cause companies like Lowes to loose market share. read more

Worst customer service I have ever received anywhere. We came in about an hour and a half before closing and needed some paint. Nobody was at the counter so I waited. There was an employee behind me and my boyfriend asked him if we could get assistance since it had been a few minutes. The employee turned his back to my boyfriend, paged over the intercom, and stayed turned around and would not even acknowledge a thank you. The woman who came to help us was very nice. We ended up spending about $300 and needed to come back with a different vehicle to buy 2 base cabinets we were looking at. We arrived a little over 30 minutes before closing, went back to grab the cabinets and realized only 1 was within our reach and we needed 2 (one was on a high shelf). My boyfriend went and asked the same employee if we could get assistance, and the employee had the same rude demeanor as earlier but did page someone to the area. Another employee came and paged someone who was certified to operate the equipment to get the cabinet down. We waited for 15-20 minutes and just left. There were employees operating machinery around us so it very much seems that they didn't want to help us since it was close to closing time. We were going to spend another $400 but now we will be going to Home Depot. I worked retail for almost 10 years and was honestly shocked at how bad the customer service here was. read more

I came into Lowes in Saugus to purchase a washer and dryer, because my old one broke and it was going to cost over a thousand dollars to fix it. When I arrived to the store at ~6:55pm, there was an employee (Jenna) checking out another customer. I stood in line waiting to be helped, and she looked at me and said that she was planning to take her lunch after that customer and wouldn't be back until 8pm. I asked if there was someone else who could help me so I didn't have to wait an hour. Another employee (Tim C.) came over to help. I showed both Jenna and Tim C. photos of my apartment, the closet where the washer/dryer goes and all of the hookups, and I told them that my building does not have vents, so I needed a ventless dryer. They assured me that multiple of the dryers they had in the store would work, so I purchased one. The first issue arose when the delivery came two days later. It turned out that Tim C. who did the final checkout had forgotten to put a stacking kit on the order, despite me requesting one and having shown him photos that the unit would be going into a closet. The delivery team hauled away my old washer/dryer and left the new machines -- the washer in the closet and the dryer in the middle of my kitchen of my small 2 bed apartment. They told me to go to the store, buy a stacking kit and they would come back to finish installation. I went to the store and bought the kit. Today, the team came back to finish installing, but they could not finish it because the dryer I was sold was a vented dryer, and is a health risk to have installed without a vent. In other words, this dryer never would've worked in my apartment. I am now left completely stranded, as they already hauled away my old washer/dryer and I am having to return this new one. The delivery team, which is a third party, told me to contact the store, which I did. The store manager (Jim) and additional employees were very rude and difficult to work with, including at one point saying he "doesn't see what the problem is." The problem is I was sold something that was never going to work, had multiple teams in my home who didn't point out the issues and am now left stranded. This was my first time ever stepping foot into Lowe's and I'm so glad I did. After so many failed attempts at their competitor stores, I finally found what I needed within a reasonable time frame. Joshua in the appliance department was efficient and super helpful! He was ready to answer any questions we had regarding our new fridge for our new home! He also informed us about the free delivery and installation that came with our purchase. We were also looking to get a water line extension and he picked one up for us in a different aisle and is getting shipped to the new house along with the fridge. Dryer delivered. Delivery people installed poorly and, sadly, their English was very weak and we couldn't communicate. Dryer stopped working after 15 minutes. Tried to call to have warranty repair. Spent SIXTY MORE MINUTES trying to get through. Finally got through. They said we would get a call from the replacement people within 24 hours. Call came this morning. I should have read the terrible reviews. My disabled elderly brother fell and was hospitalized with a head injury. I ordered a mattress on November 18th, 2020 that was to be delivered in two weeks so it would be ready for his post- hospitalization recovery after Thanksgiving. He has yet to receive this and his current mattress has developed a hole waiting for the delivery. His helper calls weekly because Lowes consistently reschedules delivery the night before the bed should arrive. Customer service accused HER of changing the delivery date because she must like waiting FIVE months for a mattress. Plus they offer a 12 hour delivery window so you have to take the day off to wait for them NOT to SHOW UP as they CANCEL again. I will never order a major item from them again. read more

I was in need of a frig for my wife's senior father so I found one here on sale great. Now comes the review. Their delivery service was quick 2 days later but the guys were complete morons. I must have told them a hundred times you will need to take the doors off to get it out. They of course tried without doing that and was banging into hanging light etc. Disgusting. Finally they give in and take off doors but leave bottom hinges and of course try to carry out with no luck. Of course not the hinge sticks out about 3 inches. Then they realize they're idiots and take off hinges and out the door they go. Now onto new frig. They bring it in with the doors off and as they start to put them on I requested the swing be reversed and his response not being paid for that. Are you f'in kidding me doors were already off. Absolutely horrible experience and I sure hope someone from that store reads this but probably not. NEVER buy an appliance from this store unless you want to get screwed. We ordered a washer/dryer unit from them, and they delivered it damaged. We've had GE come out twice to try and fix the unit, and the technician determined that it was damaged beyond repair. Even though this is a brand new, 1500$ unit, Lowes has fought us at every turn as we've tried to fix or replace our unit, and the employees are unhelpful and unknowledgeable. This store is an absolute incompetent disaster! I ordered a range hood and ceiling fan for a condo I rent in S. Boston that was supposed to be delivered and installed by Lowes. They delivered both items and left without installing them. I tried to call the Saugus Lowes (as of this writing 4 times) and each time the phone rang for at least 20 minutes before someone answered. Each time someone answered I explained the situation and they transferred me to another department and each time the phone would ring for 10-15 minutes and eventually I would get a busy signal, cut off, and have to start the entire process all over again. Just atrocious - we ordered a washer-dryer from Lowe's Saugus. Out of concern that we wouldn't have the right cords, we ordered every iteration of possible dryer cord to come with the dryer, to make sure we were covered. The installers came and told us that Lowe's had given them none of them and had provided an oven cord instead. Then, when we tried to refuse delivery, they left the Washer-Dryer in the middle of the hallway, blocking access to our bedroom and half the house. We had to sleep on the floor of our living room because of Lowe's. We spent hours on hold trying to reach the store, without any success at getting any communication from someone. Finally, I drove to the store in person. The person at the appliance desk was very polite and responsive, but was unable to get someone to come move the washer-dryer blocking access to our house that day. We were promised someone would come the following day - we waited all day, and no one showed up. We finally got a call back from Lowe's that afternoon, telling us they had no control over the vendor they used for installation and couldn't get them to come the day they promised. They offered to have them come the following day, when we had a family event that morning. We explained that we couldn't be there then and would only be available in the afternoon. They told us that if the installers came early, we could just call the store and they'd reschedule us for Monday. Of course, the installers came early, when we had said we wouldn't be home. We've tried calling the store 6 times this afternoon, with each time no one picking up at appliances or the general line. We have now spent an extraordinary amount of time and effort trying to get access to our own home, let alone the installation we paid for. I deeply regret buying from this profoundly unethical company, which takes no responsibility for its work and relies on questionable vendors to deliver and install its products. read more

I live nearby, so this Lowe's is my go to spot for anything home maintenance. It's great as far as a big store that has a lot of things to buy. However, the moment you actually need to talk to a person, most experiences I've had teach me that the employees here don't care about you, don't care to actually help you, and view you as a pain they have to deal with. When the customer service counter, whose job it is to, you know, provide customer service, is sour and dismissive, there's something wrong. Bright spot, I've talked to two separate people working in the plumbing department, and they were both wonderful. I don't remember names, but my time in the plumbing area does not fit the above description. I'm giving two stars because my experience has led to a few 5-star encounters, but far more 1-star ones. If you know what you need and use the app to locate it in the store, go in, pick up the item and do self checkout, then you're good, great spot! Just had a such a terrible experience at this specific store that I immediately sought Yelp to write a rating. Upon finding them already rated at 2-stars on Yelp, I'm not at all surprised. FWIW, I dealt with Andrea in the delivery. My hope is that she's not representative of the other Lowes employees who go above and beyond to be helpful to customers. Context: I ordered online a washer and dryer late November after an appliance failure. For a business that sells appliances and for a customer that just spent several thousand dollars, I was expecting outreach to schedule delivery. 6 days passed nothing. Finally, I called the store to inquire about delivery timing and clarify what else I should expect at delivery (ie: should we have a plumber come, what install pieces should he/she bring vs what Lowes will provide, etc). Just basic logistics to ensure a smooth delivery and minimize surprises. Andrea's response was "this is all on the website" and she made no attempt to answer or even sound helpful. Worse, her tone of voice was cold and dismissive. Because of this, I will go ahead and can cancel my order. Lowes has also lost us as a potential customer for future purchases and visits. read more

Just bought a fridge from here. After much stressful back and forth they delivered a defective fridge. More time waisted on calls to the main customer service phone plus Saugus, who never picked up, they said they would pick up the defective fridge and give us a refund! Wow!!! I placed an order on June 8 for a stove, refrigerator and microwave. My order was scheduled for delivery today. Yesterday I got an email saying my new delivery date is July 18! I called and spoke to a rude lady and she said the microwave is on back order! So I asked her to have someone call me. They can deliver the refrigerator and the stove. She said she'd relate the message. I called a few times today and couldn't get through! I don't care if the microwave is in the moon!!! I had my gas stove disconnected and now I can't cook until July 18??? What about the baby food? My coffee? This is not acceptable! I will call Home Depot and order from them!!! I needed a storm door, and sizing it was a problem for me. I took my measurements to Lowe's and spoke with Archie. He was able to help me find the size and style that I needed and assure me they would fit. The door I wanted wasn't in stock, but he took the time to write down the model, measurements, etc. so that I could order it online.
