I came in for the mulch sale but I also needed someexterior latex paint; the color didn't matter as this was for weather protection, not estetics. I found a gallon can of mis-tinted paint for $20 so I grabbed it. This is paint that would be thrown away if no one like me came along to purchase it. I took my order through the outdoor home and garden checkout (mulch) but the cashier at the register had to call for a manager to sell me the paint. Apparently someone created a policy that resulted in no mis-tnted paint being sold without a manager present. The cashier made her call for a manger and then strolled over to the cooler for a cold water; she knew there was no manager rushing to the checkout. After several minutes, the line behind me was growing so out of curtesy to Lowes' other customers I cashed out on everything but the paint which I took to customer service for purchase. That line was full of returns so I went to the one cashier open next to self-checkout. Once at the head of that line I joked that I was hopeful that she was allowed to sell me paint. She acknowledged she was but then immediately called for the phantom manager of mis-tinted paint. After several minutes, I gave up and walked out. Next door at Walmart I found a comperable gallon of outdoor paint for $10 and the cashier rang it up as easily as a candy bar, no manager required. I wanted to purchase 3 new exterior doors and have them installed by Lowes. I figured I would pay more for a no worry experience. We scheduled a measure date. They called the day before to reschedule. Ok, I said to myself, at least they didn't just ghost me. The rescheduled date came and went. They ghosted me. I called Lowes and they said the installers were a 3rd party business, even though Lowes scheduled them. I have always liked Lowes, but my latest experience has put a sour taste in my mouth. I understand that all businesses are having trouble hiring good people these days. But if you can't deliver on your promises, don't make them. read more

Left the store yesterday and had a great customer service experience. Grills currently on a crazy sale and had a good convo w an employee named Bryan who gave me insight on certain grills. Especially ones that last and ones that seem not to last. This guy went above and beyond to walk around and show me the grills while going over pros and cons. Lowes assembles the grill for free. Delivery is $75. Again Lowes is Lowes but this guy delivered great customer service and I ended up purchasing a grill. Give Bryan a raise as well read more

Soooo.... I have been here twice. The first time I visited I had a subpar experience, but my second visit was so spectacular it made up for it. I live across the street from this location so I imagine I will be going there a lot. This week I backed up my garbage disposal. After speaking with my apartment's management company and learning that no one would be able to come out for days, it was off to Lowe's for a DIY fix! I was really stressed and frazzled when I got there. On top of my garbage disposal issue I was a young woman walking into a hardware store alone. I really had no idea what kind of treatment to expect. I got a cart and headed toward plumbing, anticipating that I would need to buy a lot of different things. As I was walking back toward plumbing, a gentleman named Aaron asked me if I was doing alright. I told him that actually I could really use some help. He stopped what he was doing immediately and asked me what was up. He consulted with another employee and they helped me together. The other gentleman's name was Joe or Jim, something like that. I feel terrible that I can't remember because he was so great! They both really made me feel calm and confident that I could get the job done without talking down to me at any point. I went home, followed their instructions exactly, and voila! It was actually a very easy fix thanks to their guidance. I really appreciate their help and the way they treated me. I want to add a little bit about my prior experience to justify the four-star rating. I went to the garden section and walked around for quite awhile and no employees in sight. I needed help so finally I went up to the register where I saw three employees hiding behind the stand playing on their phones and talking. This was obviously really annoying. if I could leave zero stars I would. This is the second time I have had a horrible experience at the Strongsville location. First time I went to buy a tool box, a double decker toolbox. They over-headed for someone to help me in the isle. Nobody ever came and they were right in the next row. I lifted both tool boxes all by myself and loaded them on a flat cart, rang them up myself and left. I should have wrote them off at that time but no, I went there today to get some supplies for updating my deck. I asked about what the best way to remove balusters would be because I am a woman and although I can do a lot, I had some simple questions, so I thought. I just wanted to know if a hammer or a pry bar would be best. I was in the store for quite a while. Not one person asked if I needed help, as always at this location. I happened upon an employee sitting eating Fritos, He was as a male and working there so I approached him with the baluster question. I was told "I don't even know what a baluster is". And that was that. Not let me find someone that can help you. He was between 60-70, not a young kid as a would expect that from a youngster. I gathered what I thought I needed and headed to the check out. A young girl asked me if I needed help, I told her yes I could, is there someone that works here that knows stuff? I told her of my earlier interaction with the oh so helpful man I encountered. she said "wait, what do you need?" I explained it to her 20 something self again and she blank stared at me, confused. I said never mind and rang up my own stuff and left. I will never go back to that store again. Home Depot is right next door. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Doesn't it make sense to have employees ask people if they need help? They would sell more. Or here's a novel idea- hire workers prudent in the department in which they work. We picked up a couple of items and proceeded to the checkout. We get to the checkout only to find there are no cashiers open, only self checkout. There are literally 2 employees standing at the self checkout to assist. We then have to input our phone number to get the military discount but the employee needs to see an ID to prove its legit. You would think that an online order that is said to be ready for pickup, would not take 1/2 hour (clock is still ticking because I'm writing this as I continue to wait). No lines to wait in, just me waiting for them to go back for the second time to find ALL of my order. Again, you would think they would come up with all of it the first time since the tag says 1 of 2 items, and they brought 1 item. Don't seem to have this problem at HD. 35 minutes...clock still ticking. Update: Get home with 1/2 my order, they never found the other 1/2 while I was waiting ( ended up being an hour before I left and told them they needed to deliver the missing 1/2 of the order to the house tomorrow since we had the installers scheduled. Wife gets a text that the missing items are ready for pickup as I walk in the door. Call the store, they still haven't found the other 1/2 of the order...why did we get another text that it's ready for pickup?...they don't know.WTF! read more

the When considering having a storm door installed, beware that Lowe's uses Utopia Builders (UB) as a contractor to do the job. UB seems to have a tight relationship with Aaron Wade, the Strongsville Lowe's GM. Enough that all the loops, aggravation, and wasted time that having the project done right took, and the disrespect shown by UB, of which Wade was promptly informed, resulted in absolutely NO action by Wade to address the issue. It took 7 weeks of calls, emails, texts, faxes and complaining, to finally, after 3 separate visits by UB to install a darn storm door, get the project done right. And Wade never got involved or contacted us. Neither company seems to have a concept of professionalism. read more

Ordered a toilet and vanity install. Installer (Chris R. of Ashley) came out to the place (a rental prop.) and measured. Turned out we needed a special order toilet that cost $350 plus $30 for seat = $380. But like Cosmo Castorini said "it costs money because it saves money", so I was ok with that. The problem was the installer never showed up on the day and time he said he would, inconveniencing a lot of people who took off work, to wait for him. He said would be there at 10am and never showed, never called, never texted. When we finally reached out to him with a text at around 12:30 he responded around 1:00pm that 'he was there, but no one around and describe some cars in the driveway..." this was BS and I went to the store and the guy in plumbing seemed to be covering for him. Said, "I came in today around 12 noon-ish and I did see Chris today returning stuff". This, I explained proves nothing, for all I know this guy went and worked on an under the table job somewhere else for three hours, then came up with a shady alibi as to why he never showed to our job site. Who would sit in a driveway, claiming no one was there and NOT CALL or TEXT us? (He had two working numbers). And, if his Lowe's buddy saw him returning stuff around 12:30 then that begs the question: Where was Chris R. the installer between the hours of 9:30 AM and 12:30? If he had indeed showed up at 10AM like he claimed he would/did-and turned around and left because no one there---he would have been back at the store to return the goods to Lowes at about 10:30, not 12:30 noon, its a 20 minute return trip (if that). This whole experience has been shady, too bad that Lowes does not have anyone holding anyone responsible. We regret that we chose them, the complacent employees in plumbing only make us even more suspicious. The Store Manager needs to step up and oversee what is really going on in the plumbing/installation department. It aint pretty, the Fairlawn Lowes is much better store. read more

As a renter, I have little to no need to ever step into a home improvement store. I was shopping online for an electric fireplace with a built in media cabinet for my cable box. Decided that I didn't want to deal with waiting for my handyman to put the thing together (bro in law) and decided to hit the stores. It was between Lowes or Home Depot, since they were the only local stores with a plethora of options. Home Depot only had three options and they were low quality, so I hit up Lowes right next door. Best move ever. I lucked out and was spotted by a nice young man eager to help (of course I don't remember his name). They had so many great options and had several that I would have bought. I decided on the modern looking one without all that traditional looking crown molding. It had sleek lines, was only $80 over budget, had two color options for the fire (blue or traditional orange), is functional in the summer too (can either have heat or not) and instead of those ugly logs, mine has pretty marble looking things. I would have never known all that if it wasn't for this helpful associate who answered all my questions. He even plugged it in for me so I could see what it going to look like once I take it home. Why five stars? They agreed to put it together for me before my friend picks it up with his big work van. They went above and beyond the call of duty for me. For a big operation like this to offer me all this personalized attention really impressed me. I want to emphasize what a stress free, enjoyable and personable experience I had here. I want to like this Lowe's. They have good prices and are a one stop shop for pretty much anything you will ever need. However, every single time-- and I mean EVERY time-- we've come in, we've waited in excess of 30 minutes for help when we needed it. We just went in for a door today-- a basic screen door-- but the one we needed was up on a top shelf. We waited almost 45 minutes for someone to help us. We were ignored by most employees for a long time before we were offered any help. When I sought someone out, there was one person and he was busy with another customer the entire time. Clearly they are understaffed--there were others waiting for help for excessive amounts of time as well. It took us over an hour to buy a $100 screen door simply because the door was up high. It should have taken 10 minutes. This isn't the first time we've waited like this, either. We bought carpet from this Lowe's in 2011 and ran into the same problem. They are perpetually understaffed for customer volume and it takes a toll on customers. If they could get their staffing issues in order, the store would be good otherwise. Lots of good stuff, lots of good clearance and great prices. The staffing issue, however, makes the whole store seem impossible. read more

Trying to order carpet has been a real process. First need someone to come measure, ok no big deal. Need to wait about 48 hours to get results. We wanted to do our living room this year and possibly our upstairs next year. The guy who comes to measure says "well I'll Just measure the entire house now because Lowe's keeps this on file & you won't need a remeasure next year". Ok so 48 hours later they call with the amount of carpet we need for the whole house. We explained we want only the living room. Ok now they need to send back to have the company do a figure. Have to wait 48 hours. Get our remeasure and the numbers didn't add up. When I asked the employee why it wasn't adding up he said "I don't understand what your not understanding it's pretty cut and dry". So we go to the store to look at the quote. There is a $100 charge for custom work. I was never told this which is why the numbers were not adding up. We decided to proceed with the carpet. Told 10-14 days for carpet to come in and then after that 5-7 days for install. Carpet comes in and they call for install and it's 4 weeks out. Call Lowe's and was told "it's tax time and people buy flooring with their refund and plus we're running a free install so we're real busy." So you didn't know that 2 weeks ago when we were quoted 5-7 days for install? read more

Not only have I never placed an online order for pickup with more than one item that they didn't have at least one of the items on the order that showed as in stock on their website. We had a Pella bow window installed by Lowes. The salesman and installer both measured the window. When the salesman ordered the window he discovered that Pella did not make a window that had the same curvature as ours. Instead of letting us know he ordered a replacement window that he knew would not fit. When the installers came they informed us that we would either have to rebuild the front of the house to conform to the window or return the window. Since this was a $5000 custom window Lowes asked us to allow them to rebuild the front of the house, rather than return the window. We agreed, under the condition that it would be at their expense and the house would look exactly the same when done. They agreed. They sent a contractor that was very difficult to work with. They selected a day that was not convenient for us as we had a commitment late afternoon that we couldn't change. The contractor informed us that, if we couldn't install on that day, it would be several more weeks before they could reschedule. Since we had already waited months for the window to be delivered and our garage was unusable since thew window was sitting in the garage, we agreed to the date so long as they would be finished before we needed to leave. The contractor was schedule to show up at 8 AM but instead showed up at noon. They assured us the window would only take a few hours to install. They removed the old window and then discovered that they window was not only the wrong bow but also slightly larger than the opening. This was fixable but would require more time. Since we now had a large hole in the front of our house we had no choice but to let the contractor finish after we were gone. I gave the contractor pictures of how the house looked with the old window and he assured me the house would look exactly the same with the new window. When we arrived home after our event we discovered the contractor did a very sloppy job and the window looked terrible. We contacted Lowes who sent out the store manager who agreed that job was not acceptable. Lowes agreed to send the contractor back out to redo the window. The contractor schedule with us to come back but never showed, We rescheduled 3 times, each time the contractor was a no show. With all this winter came and we now had to wait until spring to finish the install. In the spring we again scheduled with the contractor and again they failed to show. We demanded that Lowes provide another contractor. They told us they had to use that contractor since they had already paid him. We agreed to schedule with the contractor one more time but told owes, if they didn't show, we were taking Lowes to court. Again the contractor failed to show. We told Lowes we were taking them to court at which time they agreed to send another contractor. The new contractor showed up on time and reinstalled the window correctly. Finally, after a year of screwing around with Lowes and their contractor the job was completed. The moral of the story is: DO NOT BUY WINDOWS FROM LOWES. read more

This was the WORST customer experience I have ever had!! I bought a Bosch dishwasher for myself and my parents on the same day. They mixed our orders up twice!! They never bothered to tell me my dishwasher was sitting in the warehouse or my Mom. I had to call and follow up several times. The installer experience was just as bad. They don't tell you that they are down to one contract for two stores and it was a 4-6 week wait time to install. I finally get it scheduled and a few hours before my install today they cancelled my appointment. Don't let the savings fool you. I would have rather sent a few hundred dollars more to avoid the hassle and what a pain the whole process was. I spend two thousand dollars and all I have to show at this point is sheer frustration. This store has serious problems with their appliance sales and delivery. Purchased a Bosch dishwasher on 9/20, Darren said that it was in stock and would be delivered and installed within the week. Called Darren back on 9/27, it's not in stock, try 10/6. Called Darren (and wife went in person10/12) 10/9, 10/10, 10/11, 10/12, 10/13, 10/16, 10/17.10/18 - was told it's in, Joe will call to schedule delivery and installation, if Joe doesn't get in touch call back tomorrow. On 10/19 Darren told me to call Joe myself. Got in touch with Joe on 10/20. said he would deliver and install on 10/25. On 10/23 Bill called and said he would deliver and install on 10/24. My elderly parents went to this location because they had received a call that the counters they had ordered months back were finally in, well, they got there and nobody could seem to find their counters. The employees tried to send them home with a green counter top. They ordered black and grey. The employees refused to go into the back to even actually try to look, they simply said that my parents would have to come back in an hour when someone who can find it is there, keep in mind, we are in the middle of a pandemic, so you would think they would want them in and out ASAP. Well, my parents leave for an hour and return, and they brought over the cabinet guy, who was finally able to locate the counters for my parents. Keep in mind, the employees the entire time have been not helpful to say the least; they were thrown paperwork at, talked down to and sworn at under their breath, and to top it all off, nobody offered to help my 74 year old father get the counter top into his trailer. Waited in line for longer than I should have to, because they really only had one register open for checking out customers and the cashier was very rude and doesn't know how to card transactions properly. Went in there for paint samples and it took approximately 10 minutes to get help because there was no one at the paint counter. I'd rather pay slightly more and take my business to Home Depot, at least there I get consistent customer service and never have to wait long to check out. Never had the problem I had today at a different lowes using the exact same bank card and all the Lowe's have the same computer system. read more
