I have been in Lowe's a couple of times and know why I returned. The little competition that does exist is (almost) as lousy as this company. Not being a handyman, pro or contractor I usually need help and would appreciate someone to answer questions, guide me and point me towards the product I need to buy. Finding help at Lowe's is like finding care for the planet at a convoy mob blockade. Seriously, do these chains know how much more money they would make if they had help for their would-be customers? A lack of employees is par for the course. Canadian Tire is not any better. What makes Lowe's worse is the zombie cashiers. I am not sure if they punp sleeping gas through the employee dining room or hire numb undead as cashiers as a matter of policy, but my most recent experience reminded me of my last six or so month ago: cashier with no energy who cannot move a limb, staring vacuously at an indeterminant point in space that therefore needs prompting to lift the scanner let alone say complicated verbosity like 'hello' or 'thank-you.' To boot, there is a lack of selection at Lowe's. They do not offer customers choice. They have typically one brand/size of everything. I am upgrading. Canadian Tire I am coming! I recommend Lowe's to two groups only: Secret shoppers and Labour Management professors. The former would throw in the towel and break down, while the latter would find enough material for a book just in one trip. read more

We bought a bottle of Critter Ridder and the bottle was half full, so we hoped to go to customer service to exchange to a full bottle. However, we stood at the customer service counter for a while, nobody acknowledge us... We even yelled "is there anyone can help us", NO ANSWER. Until one lady who was chatting with her colleagues behind the counter, glared at us as if we interrupted her conversation THEN she came to help us. What kind of a customer service is this? Totally not acceptable. You should acknowledge customers right in front of the counter even though they may not need the help, not just chit chat and walk away. read more

Ii never had a bad experience here, never returned any products and never really dealt much with customer service or management to resolve any issues, so maybe I would've had a different/worse opinion as all other reviews here. But so far, I haven't faced any experiences here. My only con about this place, is that I find their selection of items (in any category) very limited, not as many brands as other stores and certainly not the well known cool brands you would know. The store is really disorganized now, I guess they are short because people don't want to go back to work because of Covid. I needed to buy a salt for water softener for my parents' house and had to wait for 30 min in the line for cash because only one cashier was working. Then, after I paid, I had to wait for 20 min before they brought my 10 bags over and put it in my car. Next time I'll certainly go to Canadian Tire, there the whole process takes less than 10 min. read more

I went there late August for replacement glass and they were all scratched up and the edges were badly damaged. Despite saying they cut glass to custom size on the website, they were telling me they don't do it. I called their rep and not even he knows which stores offers to cut. What a waste of time. I ended up getting my custom glass at Home Hardware with less hassle and affordable pricing. read more

Customer service here is a joke. We went to this location for the first time and it will definitely be our last. They had four people working at customer service (all high school kids?) but none were competent, communicative or transparent about what they were doing. The result is you wait and wait and wait and when you finally ask what's going on, they can't even give you a proper answer as to why you need to wait. read more

I have to agree with the chorus regarding the customer service at this particular Lowes. I have received FANASTIC service at the Lowes on Highway 7 (near the 400), but this store is downright awful. 2 days ago I visited this store looking for cement board as I was in the midst of a bathroom shower stall renovation. They sold a particular brand called Hardiboard that I was interested in. When I read the brochure, it stated that you must affix it to the studs using corrosion resistant, self driving screws....so off to that section of the store I went. Could not find them. There was a female associate helping another customer so I waited until they were done. I then approached her and she looked me in the face and I asked her my question, she turned and then walked away. I said "Oh, do you want me to follow you?" No response again...so I shouted out "Excuse MIss....Hello...Miss?". I was totally ignored. So...off I went looking for someone to help me. No staff could be found. I then wandered to the tool section as the instructions for the board said had to be scored, not cut, so I needed a decent exacta blade to do the job. They only had one of the brand I wanted and it had been opened, blade taken out, taped back up (using packing tape), then put back on the shelf for sale. Seriously? The store was trying to sell a product that someone tampered with and they were trying to sell it as new? one of the worst buying experiences of recent memory. took me around 2 hours to purchase a grill. The salesperson took around an hour to find the item i was looking for at the back and when it finally came out, it was the wrong one. Turns out the one I wanted already came assembled so I said I would make the purchase only if it fits in the car. He checked the car, said it would fit, and that he would help me put it in. The 2 side tables had to be collapsed also which he said would be easy. As soon as I paid, he just disappeared. I asked for some assistance from some lady and she said I shouldn't buy a grill if just brought a car with me. (not only unhelpful, but dissed my ride). I asked for the manager which should have been 2 min wait but was actually 15 mins. The manager informs me that people on the floor (salespeople) do not really assist on any loading and unloading tasks and their loading people generally wouldn't do it either because of some risks to damage to the item or the car. In the end, he finally got some people to disassemble parts of the grill and I fit it in myself. To summarize: - The salespeople i met with didn't really give a crap about me. They just wanted to make a sale, and would say anything to close the deal. - a lot of the crew are either not trained well, are in training, or are just plain incompetent. - this is the last time i'm buying anything from lowes. read more

This review is for the Maple location at 200 McNaughton Rd. Well the manager here knows nothing about keeping the customers satisfied. He has no clue how to treat customers let alone manage a store that size. There is a reason people keep going to Home Depot. I visited this location to see what backsplash options they have for my kitchen. There was a backsplash that looked decent and I asked a lady working there to give me a sample I can pay for to take home to try out in my space. The piece she gave me had a ripped netting in the back and she assured me it will be fine returning it so I paid and took two samples home. So few days later I go back to return the sample and the guy at the counter tells me he has to check with the manager since the backsplash is snapped. By snapped I mean the netting in the back was separated. So they page the manager and he first tries measuring the backsplash , I guess he thought I might have stole a piece of backsplash! I have no idea what you can possibly do with a single piece of backsplash size of a coin. Then he tells me he cannot refund me since the netting is snapped so I explain to him that lady working there gave the snapped one to me in purpose because I was looking for a sample to try out and he tells me No and just left. So I asked for the head office number and he comes back and hands me a piece of paper with head office number and tells me to call them and leaves again. How is this guy even the manager at this store? I work in retail and I would be fired right away if i treat customers like that. Another manager came by, an older gentleman named Joe and he was helpful and finally refunded me the money but this store gets a 0 because of the manager and they way he treated us. read more

One of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. This is terrible. First of all, I am the customer and the workers' existence is to provide service for my needs. Their facial expression displays exhaustion and frustration as if they are saying, "I don't want to help you because I'm tired, I don't want to work" I dont understand, i know it is dark outside and they want to go home, but this is their job, and they should be aware of the time period they work at. I entered the store to buy a christmas tree, there is only one stock, so i go in the store to ask one of the workers whether we should bring the tree in and pay or we pay and then we bring the tree to the car, but no one seems to know what they are doing, the atmosphere is very negative and very unpleasant, everyone is frowning looking very close-minded and they are very unapproachable, looking at me like a clingy, annoying girlfriend. Then they tell me to wait outside for a worker to come out and help. I wait for the longest with my best patience, holding my tempers, and no one comes out. I am very disappointed and very enraged. I have to offer a dissenting view on the level of customer service at this Lowe's outlet. At the end of summer 2012, I bought a gazebo on clearance at a significant discount. I didn't inspect the package until this spring 2014, when I discovered all of the small hardware was missing. Considering the circumstances of the purchase, I thought my best bet was with the manufacturer. I was willing to pay to have the missing parts shipped to Canada, but the US based manufacturer said this was "impossible". I then thought to check in with the store to see if they could order the parts on my behalf. I spoke with Angelo Tzogas the store manager, and he agreed to intervene on my behalf. Unfortunately, after a few days of trying, Angelo conceded that he wasn't able to obtain the parts. At this point, he demonstrated a commitment to customer service that went "above and beyond". I no longer had the receipt for the 2012 purchase - all I had was a photo of the packaging showing the Lowe's item number, and my credit card statement showing the total amount of a purchase that included other items. Angelo worked with me to determine the amount most likely paid for the gazebo and offered me an outright refund if I brought in the parts that I did have. I was so impressed with Angelo that I accepted his offer in the form of a credit towards a new gazebo purchase, with which I am extremely happy. I cannot recommend this store and its amazing manager highly enough! read more

The customer service at this location is horrendous aside from the gentleman in the plumbing department the sales associates could care less that you need assistance. The ladies at the customer service and returns desk are condescending and have attitude. The store manager would not honour a sale price that was in the flyer the day before even though the sale was not ringing up when I went to the store days before the sale ended and they told me he would be in the store that day I called and he should be able to helpy. I called him and he said it was the corporate policy and they can not extend sales even though I was in there when the sale was on and it would not ring up the correct sale price. I called lowes.ca that same night explained the situation and the asked me to send a picture of the item from the flyer by email which I did. Then I called back a couple of hours later and they honoured the sale price plus the promotion as it stated in the flyer. I have received much better service from the highway 7 location on edgely Blvd they treat you poorly here at the mcnaughten store. Lowe's was my favorite store, but not this one. The associates in the store are rude, as well as the manager. I was buying paint with my brother in the morning. Nobody was working at paint section. We waited there for about 20 minutes, nobody shows up. I went to customer service desk to ask a girl page the associate in paint section, she told me the associate was helping other customer in the other aisle. We went back and wait. About another 10 minutes, the associate was back. We ask her something question about choosing paint. After we picked the colour, we took the paint base to the counter, I asked her what's different between flat and eggshell. She showed us some sample. We decided to use eggshell, then I went back the aisle to change the paint base. Just 30 seconds, when I back to the counter, the associate was disappeared. We waited on the counter about 20 minutes, nobody came. I searched the store aisle by aisle, finally found her. She was loading stuff on the aisle. I asked her don't you know we are buying paint, and waiting for you assistant? She reply to me it was manager told her to do it. I asked her "We asked you twice, and took the paint base on the counter, Don't you know we are buying paint? Why did you ignore us and doing other thing in the other aisle?" She said "I don't care". The manager was just passing by. I talked about this to him. He reply to me "Is she helping you right now?", "I cannot change what happened before", "Did you push help button?". I just noticed that there is a button on the other side on the service counter. Why not put the button on the service counter? There were no apology from him, everything was my fault. This store really has some problem. We pay money for the product, but did not get a basic service. I will not visit this store any more. read more
