I needed a 220 receptacle, and I first thought it best to look local, and needed it done that day. After calling around all I got was voicemail. Finding Lowry Services on Google, I was hesitant at first to use a bigger/branded company because I didn't want to get nickel & dimed for each little thing. They do charge a $50 fee to come to the house, which at first I didn't like, but found it to be reasonable, especially since they wave the fee towards your service if you do use their services. Customer Service was happy and upbeat! They showed no attitude when I was hesitant about the initial fee, and weary about not having an estimate over the phone. I called at 9:30am, and had an electrician (Steve Wei...) on-site at 10:55am (5min's early to the 11:00 time scheduled). When Steve showed up I can honestly say that it felt better having someone arrive in a company vehicle with the branded logo vs. having some local guy in a beat up van or truck. I also came to find out that for every question I had about the repair as well as others I sprung on Steve, he had a very knowledgeable response as well as every needed tool/material with him, or in the vehicle. As for service, he was professional and polite. I just moved into this house and he was cautious to put on booties to not track mud or dirt, he greeted my wife with a pleasant hello, and went right to the area for repair. I know it's a simple thing to have a 220 put in for a dryer, however I ended up bombarding him with so many questions being a new home owner, and he was pleased to answer all my questions especially the safety ones I had concerns about. For example, I had a second breaker box in the house for a second floor addition, and when I asked him to check it out, he was happy to, with no feeling of being rushed. Right away he found the reason why I asked. The double tap wiring was not correctly done, for a small added charge, he was able to correct the issue and had all necessary parts. He didn't mind me hanging around watching him do the work, and it wasn't due to the fact of being worried, it was because as he worked, he was very informative about telling me general situational awareness in the house, and what I could do, especially because the house was 90 years old and has had a lot of remodeling and repair work done. He let me know what to watch for, as well as to what was good and done correctly which gave me some good peace of mind and understanding of what I could hold off on. Steve was also very up-to-date on code. I could tell he knew his stuff and has been well versed in the Tri-State area (I am located in Delaware County, PA) They have a yearly plan deal, and I know that sounds like a sales gimmick, but it actually really worked out in my favor. At first glance I thought the pricing was fair, but with the plan he was able to offer enough savings along with an additional coupon from their website, that dollar for dollar made the plan almost free for a year, and provided discounts for the job and future work. You might think, oh that's what everyone does to suck you in, but that's not the case; check it out for yourself. I was pleased with the price enough that handing out a tip was no problem, and extremely pleased with the overall experience and completed work! Next time I need services, I won't have to search for some local shop that as we all know offer their "guarantees", good luck! Also, when I asked him about plumbing and some other things, he said we can do that but that he was specifically an electrician. The reason I bring that up is because that's the way it should be, no one should want a plumber, who is an electrician, who is a HVAC guy etc... Yes gen. contractors can be great, and this is not a hit on those who do it, but when it comes to specialties, I rather have someone like Steve, certified, trained, and knowledgeable about the specific area of work I need done, and done right the 1st time. read more

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses Last week half of the circuits in my condo were not working. I looked to see if breaker switches had flipped and then I flipped breaker switches, but nothing happened. I needed an electrician. I did a Google search and Lowry Services came up...outstanding good luck. I explained my problem and they said that they would have somebody out in about 90-minutes. They also carefully explained the fees involved and that I would receive a complete estimate before any work was done. Lowry does work on a flat fee basis based for a given job and I find that an extremely fair way to do business. My problem came about due to a surge on the PECO line into my condo. Norm arrived well within the promised timeframe, determined what the problem was and gave me an understandable estimate for the work that needed to be done and what I could expect once he completed the work. Breakers burned out so Norm reworked the wires so that everything in my condo except the air conditioning was working. Norm stayed around while the PECO guy made an assessment of the problem. While the PECO guy was assessing the problem, he blew out my master breaker and I lost all power. Norm was able to replace the breaker. If he hadn't waited I would had been entirely in the dark. Norm then provided me a number of options to permantely resolve my problem. Again, he gave me a quote for the job. I chose to have my breaker box replaced. At no time did I feel pressured, I was just provided useful information so that I could make an informed decision. I was told that evening that Lowry could have somebody back that Saturday to do the work. I reached out to there great phone people to see if the work could be done earlier. Barbie and Jenna could not have been more helpful. The bottom line is Norm was out Friday afternoon and did the work. The installation was completely professional and I have the confidence that future problems like this can be avoided because of a whole house serge protector was installed as part of the new breaker box. Let me say a word or two about Lowry's prices. They will likely not be the least expensive, but I feel that the cost of the work performed was fair and once they gave me an estimate, it was gold. My experience was 100% positive and should I have future electrical needs I will call on Lowry Services. read more

Lowry did send a tech within 24 hours. Their phone rep and tech were pleasant and professional. The tech did treat my home with respect. However, their outrageous pricing policy and questionable work negate these qualities. I requested a quote to remove a remote controller from my Hunter fan housing and to change the wall control switch back to a standard Decora switch. This remote was not part of the fan but an add-on installation. The phone rep could not give me a quote. The tech gave me a price of $158.51 without inspecting either the wall switch or the fan. I thought the price was high but I agreed to pay as it was hot, the remote no longer worked, and I would have to pay the $45 trip fee. The job was performed in less than 10 minutes and the material cost was about $3. After the work was completed, I received a sales pitch to purchase their $99 contract, which allows a 20% discount on all electrical work for 1 year. I declined. Within a day, the fan started to wobble and make a horrible, loud noise. Lowry did send another tech back in 2 days. He did not inspect the fan but he had 2 very creative reasons why they were not responsible for the problem. The first one was something about removing weight from the motor housing and how if you put your cell phone there it would stabilize the fan. Secondly, he picked up a cup on my table and showed me how you can't replace it in the same spot it was in. I was so astonished that I could not reply. A friend later told me the blades were loose. The first tech had trouble holding the housing while he removed the controller. He commented to me that the newer fans were easier to service. Interestingly, the second tech told me the first tech left the company to return to his previous one. I will need to hire someone to tighten the blades since I cannot access the hidden screws. Lowry charged me an unreasonable amount and has left me with a fan that is not working. I can not recommend this vendor. read more

We had a fantastic experience with Lowry Services! The customer service and technicians were some of the friendliest, professional and happy to help people we have ever dealt with when facing a home maintenance issue. We had electrical issues with our breakers plus our AC unit was sparking. Called them up on a Saturday morning, when everybody else who is local is closed or just never calls you back. They were very helpful and friendly on the phone and disclosed all fees upfront. The first technician's car broke down half a block away and after he had called in to his dispatcher to send another person out, he still tried to help us troubleshoot while waiting for a tow truck. The 2nd technician they sent came out after hours and Lowry's did not charge us the emergency rate. Once we noticed that our HVAC system may be causing an electrical issue we called Lowry's back and asked if they could send out another person to look that over. It was nearing the end of the day and they were still able to get somebody out. The Customer Svc/Dispatchers followed up with us throughout the day to keep us posted on when the techs would be here and they followed up with us once everything was done to ensure we were happy. All three technicians, Stephen, Timothy and Jim were extremely friendly, professional, knowledgable and seemed very happy to help us out. Our issues have been fixed and we now have some peace of mind. We will definitely be using Lowry's as our go to company from now on. There were no surprises with the fees and everything was quoted before work was done. We were shown the wear and tear / damage to some of our electrical components first and they explained everything before anything was done. Highly recommend! i had an issue with my electric furnace recently. i called carney plumbing and heating who came out not only once but twice to tell me nothing was wrong. i got sick of dealing with them and tried scattons, who also told me nothing was wrong. i was about to give up when a friend told me about lowry services. he told me they were a little pricey, but well worth it. he had his system repaired last week by a tech named bob. he said this guy who looked ex military, but was a real ace and knew what he was doing and fixed his unit. i called lowry and requested bob. my friend was right. they showed up on time, in a great looking van and bob did look ex military. i explained to him what was wrong and showed him to the furnace. he said give me a few minutes to look it over and i'll see what i come up with. within 10 minutes he came and got me and explained that my heat sequencer(part that turns on electric heat strips) was bad and was only bringing on 5kw instead of the full 10 kw. he got out his price book and explained about the price and all the discounts that come with a membership plan including a heating tune up and 25% discount on repairs. he had the part in his van and said he could fix it right now, of cource i said yes. the total repair bill was under $350.00 and it was fixed right. i felt the heat the minute he replaced the part. i spent over $400.00 on the other 2 companies and nothing. i now have a new contractor to use, who has 1 of the best techs i've every ran into. god bless lowry services and bob. i hope lowry realizes how awesome of a tech bob is. read more

I am a bit surprised that Lowry got such bad reviews as I had a very pleasant experience. After our house got hit by lightening, the electronic panel that controls our well pump had been fried. We had beenvery unhappy with the company that had installed it, so we decided to give Lowry a call. That same day, a very knowledgeable technician named Sean came out...and did NOT charge us the $49 service fee. He told us what our options were and gave us a separate estimate for each. After my husband and I made a decision, Sean was out the very next day to do the work. We knew going in that this was not going to be cheap, but I thought that their prices were competitive and reasonable. We would definitely use this company in the future. ADDENDUM: The service guy told us that for $400, he could upgrade our water filtration system. We had two small filters that did a sufficient job, but we still had to have a Brita filter on our kitchen faucet. So, we decided to dig into our pockets for cleaner and healthier water. MUCH TO OUR DISMAY, even 14 hours later, our water is the color of iced tea, it is that murky.. I am completely disappointed that I couldn't take a refreshing shower last night and have no clean water to give my dogs. I just had work done to my home by Lowry. Their electrician Andrew Sedlack came over on a Saturday since it was my only day available. I am huge on customer service and Andrew was the coolest guy. It felt more like a buddy coming over to help out than a business coming to take your money which was great so I felt comfortable. I had an issue with 240 watts coming into my upstairs bedrooms but at first we couldn't figure it out. Turns out there were several possible issues. Andrew was patient and concise and knew his stuff. We tackled one issue at a time and he actually had to come back a second time to ensure quality work which he did. But he went above and beyond by even changing out an old dimmer in my room and a couple of other little jobs that were aside from the main issue which blew me away. On top of that my issue happened at a terrible time with finances and Lowry offered great financing options which was a piece of mind. All in all I would definitely recommend these guys (I have my own website/blog where i review business so I am a tough critic) at the end of the experience I was amazed with Andrew's level of knowledge, patience and customer service so when you call ask for him, he's the man!! read more

I have an ongoing tree root invasion in my main sewer line and have been dealing with rising costs of drain experts over the last few years. I noticed a Lowry Services van at a neighbor's house so I asked the tech, Shaun M., if he had time to stop over and give me an estimate when he was finished. Shaun could not have been more receptive and was more than willing to increase his Company's business. Lowry's drain cleaning service was more in-line with what I consider a fair price for an hour's labor. Aside from that, Shaun was very professional, cordial, and very informative about the inner workings of the sewer system. My options are clear and my worst fears have finally been laid to rest. In the short run, anyway, I do not need to replace my sewer line because Lowry, with the help of Shaun, will maintain my line until it is no longer possible. Thanks Lowry and thank you Shaun M. for your fairness and honesty. I know plumbing work is not cheap and I'm not looking for any extraordinary deals, just fair prices and honest technicians coupled with quality installations and repairs. Just recently bought a house & needed someone to help set up an outlet for our electric dryer. We'll try alot of things DIY but not electrical. Called Lowry & no problems with making the appt, came out when promised, and the technician, Steve W was the best! He explained everything to us from cost to the work details of the job. Besides the dryer outlet, we also asked him to do other things. He was here for almost the entire day & I never got the feeling he was rushing through the job or taking longer than anticipated to complete something. His professionalism and easy demeanor were always present. He also checked out a few other things since we were new to the house & made future recommendations. The cost of everything was a little pricey but what isnt these days. I have a lot of confidence in him & his work, so I dont mind paying a little more. I've had other big box companies come out with huge advertisement budgets, lower prices, but they werent worth crap. I would HIGHLY recommend Steve W at Lowry. Two days ago we had an electrician come from Lowry's. Then yesterday I had one of their plumbers come. First let me say even scheduling the appointments was a breeze. Every person I spoke with on the phone was attentive, quick, and helpful. We live in an older house that is just beginning to wear down. Both of the guys were AMAZING! Our home is filled with noise, chaos, and children and they each handled it with the most perfect tact, patience, and above all else they did an amazing job on all of the work! I've used their services before and they won me over way back then with their honesty, so truthfully I would have had them back anyways. But these past two days were my confirmation (if I ever were to have needed any). They told me the truth about all of the repairs I needed (and there are a lot!) but never made me feel pressured or even guilty for having to watch how much money we spent. My plumbing issues are now solved and our electrical work is beautiful! We have much more to go but we will with out a doubt be calling them back again :) read more

Today Jim G from Lowrys Services came out to perform work. I recently got ripped off by a general contractor working on my home - so I was right on top of the work being done today . Jim G allowed me to hover and watch the whole process of the job - He answered questions and explained products being used - I even watched a camera view of where the work was being done - his son Charles ( also with Lowrys )was working with him and was very knowledgeable also. I wanted to view the suspected issue -when we couldn't locate the "problem" - he called his manager - determining that there wasn't a problem to fix well a few phone calls later - and Sean the manager was kind and honest enough to not charge me... I can't tell you how grateful I am - this company has integrity. They are professional - courteous and fair. They lost money on this job today - but gained respect and many referrals from me. After an unpleasant experience with the orange truck company, where they misdiagnosed an issue with my AC unit, I tried Lowry Services. The issue was my AC evaporator coils were freezing up. I called in the morning and was offered an appointment the same day and the dispatcher called 30 minutes before the technician came out which was nice. The technician (Anthony) came out and was very courteous. He checked all the pressures and performed some diagnosis tests and came to the conclusion that there was a small leak, that must have been leaking refrigerant slowly over time. Anthony found and fixed the leak and added the necessary refrigerant to get the pressures back up to where it should be. The price was reasonable. I really appreciated that he took the time to diagnosis the issue and explain everything to me along the way. If you need your AC/Heater fixed, would recommend giving Lowry's a try and ask for Anthony ! read more

I had Lowry Electric and heating , service my boiler after another large company made 2 attempts but still did not fix the issues. My home was freezing cold, pipes frozen while I waited for the other company to get a part. I finally called Lowry's. Mike from Lowrys showed up exactly when they promised. He fixed my heater and waited to make sure it was working before leaving. .He covered his shoes to keep from tracking in my home and cleaned up throughly. I couldn't be more pleased. Mike explained everything before starting the work and gave me tips to keep the system running better in the future. The pricing was reasonable not the lowest but definitely worth it. I live in 120 year old home that constantly has something breaking. I will be calling Lowry's 's for all my plumbing, heating and electric needs in the future. I never rely on on-line reviews of companies because I often find them way off the mark.This seems to be the case with on Yelp ratings for Lowry.I rely on recommendations from friends. A friend who lives in Chesterbrook recommended Lowry for Heating and air conditioning but I had never used them. Yesterday morning I found a major leak around the toilet. I noticed in their Ad that Lowry also provided plumbing services. The female dispatcher was very helpful and fitted me into their schedule. Tyler arrived two hours after my call and explained the pricing before starting the job. He correctly diagnosed the problem as a leaky hose leading into the tank. I thought the toilet was the problem. He could have really inflated the repair work if he weren't so honest. The price was reasonable at $129. I used a local plumber a few years ago who charged 200 as a base rate. I certainly will use Lowry again for plumbing. read more

I had an issue with my toilet that was put in by another company. I called them up to try and have them out again to fix it but was told that company went out of business and I was out of luck. So I called the Lowry since they were one of the first ones that appeared when I opened up the yellow book. They were very nice on the phone and I had a plumber out the same day as well. The technician was outstanding!! He was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. He offered a good warranty and the price was reasonable so I had the work done same day. He put cloths down wherever he worked and cleaned up very well afterwards. I would say my home is a bit cleaner after he left as well. I would definitely have these guys out again and recommend them to anyone. I am going back to Lowry every time since they've been around for so long and I'm sure they will be around in the future when I need them. read more

Kind of disappointed in them, and it's sad because I used them for years. Was told if I got a repair done (that was done 3 years ago and was told "it should last more than three years, but parts break!"), I would have six months to get up to $500 back if I get a new system. Got it fixed (after they arrived more than an hour late, but they called at least), then had a guy come out for a quote on a new one, and he told me we have between 30 and 60 days to use that $500. I liked both the tech and the guy who gave me the quote, they all seemed honest. My biggest gripe is coming an hour late. I was told someone would contact me about that because I had to miss an hour of work, but still nothing. It's sad because they've done a lot of work for me in the past. I trusted them, and I still think they try to do a good job, but they didn't value my time, but had no problem taking my money. Just disappointing. read more

Last week , I had an electrical problem that was causing a breaker to continually trip even after I tried to eliminate what may be causing the problem . I called Lowry and they responded that same morning . The technician who arrived was professionally attired and put on protective foot wear before entering my residence so to avoid tracking in any dirt . Within a few minutes after his arrival , he diagnosed the problem and told me the least expensive way to correct it since we did not use this particular outlet anyway . Also , he made some suggestions about improving other electrical issues and estimated the approximate cost . At no time did I feel pressured to do it then and he said to consider it for another visit . His obvious electrical experience went a long way in quickly diagnosing the problem which saved me time and money . I would definitely recommend them for all your electrical needs . read more

I had no problems with return calls, and the operators were very polite and accomodating. A serviceman named Sean C arrived on time for a plumbing issue at my home. He was uniformed, neat, and professional. He drove a clearly labeled Lowry Services vehicle. He did a careful inspection and weighed several possibilities before deciding on what he felt "confident" was the specific cause. He quickly identified the problem, went for a replacement part, and finished the job within an hour. I have no idea if the bill was higher than others would charge, because I do not know the industry's labor and travel rates, nor do I know prices for parts. I was happy to have the problem solved correctly and quickly. I also like Lowry's one-year warrantee. I feel confident that if there are any problems in the future, I can rely on Lowry's to resolve them. read more

Great Company! Woke up to a freezing cold house and a broken furnace. After having a technician out the same day we decided it was best to replace the entire system rather than do the repairs. Bill Duffy was extremely professional providing us with detailed information with several options for replacing our current system. He wasnt pushy at all(which we have dealt with when dealing with other companies) and allowed us to make the decision that worked best for our budget. The installation crew was on time and very clean, laying drop clothes on our antique floors and wore booties. They were even mindful about the noise while my son took his nap! Being a stay at home mom I felt very safe being alone in the house with the crew. To me thats very important. Our new system runs great!
