    The Lock'n'Load @$5.50
    Benjamin B.

I had lunch with Carissa from Channel [V] last week. I was sitting at an outside table and she was inside with her boyfriend but we were practically eating together. I was trying to lip read some of their conversation through the glass, she may as well have been right next to me, whispering sweet nothings into my ear while I laughed and stroked the beard I don't have. As it was, I enjoyed a long black that the friendly barista passed me through the window - hot and bitter and nutty, a real heart-starter - and I got a cheeky little breakfast number called the Lock'N'Load, a potato rosti-stlyle hash, smoked lox, lime & creme fraiche dill dressing, a delicious bargain at just $5.50. I know right. And yeah, the people watching is off the charts. You'll need sunglasses. Trust me on this one.

How did Bondi survive without a NY deli for so long? Well thank goodness it no longer has to as Lox Stock & Barrel comes as close as I've seen in Sydney. Sure it's a little cleaner (not a bad thing by any means) and the menu, while New York in spirit, definitely swings toward modern Australian (I've never had an avocado smash with feta, lemon and mint in New York, but I'm 100% on board for the immediate export) but I'm ready to make the big call and dub this my favourite breakfast joint in Bondi. Breakfast highlights? The smoked lox. On eggs, on challah, on its on... just so delicious. Also, the hash browns that were ever so slightly tater tot-ish were a surprise hit. Both of our breakfasts were too big to finish but we finished them anyway because it was too good to let go. We then spent the entire afternoon recovering on the couch. Unfortunately the bagels were a little too bread-y for me - they lacked that signature tough-on-the-outside, dense-and-chewy-on-the-inside bagelness that I crave - and thus the one star detraction. But what Lox Stock & Barrel lacks in bagel perfection, it makes up for in charm. I'll definitely be back for lunch and dinner immediately if not sooner.

Seeds bagel toasted with lox, cream cheese, capers, rocket and spanish onion. deelish.

If you are looking for a really good, authentic New York style bagel, this is the place! I can't even begin to tell you how happy we are to find a legit deli slash bakery. It's a small, cafe style spot in Bondi, usually quite busy, pumping out really great American comfort style brunch etc. I don't think it is owned by Americans, but clearly they were inspired. Menu: - really really good bagels with all the fixins, including lox and capers - potato latkas ("hash browns") with creme fraiche, dill and smoked lox - french toast with real maple syrup that looked amazing (I was too full from the bagel) - carrot cake that rivals some of the best I've had - and a bunch of other things Oh, and a shout out to my fellow Americans: They have real iced coffee (no ice cream in the coffee), real iced tea, challah bread, rye bread, and pastrami. I bought 6 bagels takeaway and popped them in my freezer to tide me over until next time. Can't wait to go back!

What happens when you take a flight from the UK to Australia? You get jet lag, and I mean all the jet lag. We all know that breakfast, second breakfast followed by brunch is a cure all, so the search began. And there it was.. Lox Stock& Barrel. But this place should actually be called The Cure, not just cause they're a great band and this is great brunchin', but because it IS the cure. Two plates of poached eggs, toast and a couple sides sorted us right out, topped off with a caffeine perk of their own blend, I'm in love and I'm feeling fine. G'day Bondi!(you guys actually say that, right?)

    Pumpkin salad + chicken

This is a Bondi cafe that ticks a lot of boxes in terms of great breakfast and lunch items, so it's bursting at the seams. No bookings, so time your visit well, and it's best for dining with a group of 2-4 tops. Their bagels and sandwiches are mighty impressive, as well as a good list of salads for the carb avoiders. Having tried both the lox bagel and the pumpkin salad with poached chicken, I found both options really tasty and filling. I came here twice during a brief trip to Bondi. The first was Mother's Day so it was chaotic. Dining solo crammed in amongst Mother's Day lunchers, I had to wait 45mins+ for my salad and it was super uncomfortable and awkward. The second was with colleagues, a lot more pleasant! Our meals were served in good time, we all enjoyed our orders while having a healthy dose of food envy over everything we didn't. I would definitely come back if I was a local, but I would avoid public holidays or super busy times for my own sanity - especially as a solo diner!

Great little cafe in Bondi. Got here around 10.15am and it was already buzzing. Good thing a friend of ours arrived early to secure us a table. They have an outdoor courtyard area but didn't really have much sunlight so we opted to sit inside. When full the inside can get squishy! Ordered the Lock & Load, Bowlarama, Smashed Avo, French toast with cinnamon and poached eggs with avocado. I tried the lock & load, the french toast and they were pretty tasty. I had the poached eggs and loved the chutney they had provided with it. We were done in about 40 minutes and there were people that were waiting outside for a table for the same amount of time. Overall, great first visit! A friend recommended the Reuben but will have to come back to try that some other time

    Coconut Bircher, Almond-Cashew Flat White

Stopped in as it is one of the few cafes open before 8am in Bondi. My waitress was excellent & suggested I try the cashew-almond milk made in-house for my coffee, it didn't disappoint! I also had the coconut Bircher which was nice & light post morning run, but I personally could have used more berries to make the flavor pop. Overall a great experience.

Wow the salad here is delicious! I ordered the pumpkin salad and added chicken and was not disappointed! Hearty, fresh with just the right amount of dressing. I also ordered the blueberry smoothie which comes with cocoa and peanut butter. It was so delicious as well. Didn't waste one drop. My husband had the bagel and he said it was incredible. Highly recommend this place! Food was so good I forgot to take pictures.

Hubby's second latte. Great aroma, perfect taste.

Is it me or this place totally rocks! I took hubby out on a date and yes, we love Bondi! Ok, I love Bondi! I have always wanted to try out LS&B and today's combination of incredible weather, no kids and no classes made it perfect to head down to Bondi. Our coffee was perfect. Hubby ordered two cos one was definitely not enough. We weren't sure how big the servings were so we ordered two salads and a bagel, thinking we can pull it off. Our salads arrived and boy, they were so generous with the servings. Hubby had the Ocean Trout Salad and I had the Pumpkin Salad with a poached egg. Deeeeelish!!! The flavours bursted in our mouths, the fresh greens mixed so well with every bite. We were so full we weren't too sure if we could even eat our bagel! Our waitress recommended the Smoked Lox Bagel with mixed seeds. Oh Em Gee! We were full but we kept on going! Overall, we appreciated the friendly service and the mouth watering salads and bagel. When we went to pay, the waitress said she was impressed with us! She thought we weren't able to finish our meals! We will be definitely coming back to try the other dishes :) Thank you Lox, loved your service and food :)

    Bubbi's chicken liver on rye
    Nigel M.

Great brekky / lunch today. Sitting outside on the street. Winter sunshine and very effective heaters overhead. Had a nice macchiato. Not worlds's best, but more than adequate. Followed by "Bubbi's chopped liver" on rye. Complete with pickled cucumber, pickled veges, cherry tomatoes and a nice side relish. Very satisfying start to the day. Nice mix of flavours. Lovely staff, good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

    Classic lox
    Eva R.

Finding bagels are hard in Australia, but Lox Stock and Barrel satisfies the craving of a good bagel. I came here on a busy morning and was told the wait would be about 20 minutes. I was seated pretty quickly as the tables were clearing pretty frequently. I had the classic lox on a sesame bagel. It had cream cheese, smoked salmon, rocket, capers, and onion. The seasoned rocket added a nice lemony and pepper taste. The bagel was crunchy but still soft on the inside. A little on the pricier side as it was $15, but would totally come back! Recommend for anyone looking for a bagel fix while in Sydney.

Fresh onion bagel, poached eggs, spinach, shrooms and avo.
    Mary V.

Got off the plane and came straight to Lox. It was near my airbnb and had couple of hours to kill to wait for our host. I order the onion bagel which is made fresh daily with poached eggs, spinach, mushrooms and avo. It was such a great fresh meal. Thank you for our waitress being so kind and they guys there on moving our luggage around. The place is on the cozy side and lots of people were coming in and waiting. I wouldn't mind coming here every morning for breakfast. O and get their mushroom latte. Very earthy and nice!

So was wrapping up a day trip to Bondi and after the rigorous hike around to catch all the views of…read morethe coastline, I decided that lunch was in order before heading back to the heart of Sydney. There is no shortage of places to check out across the main street but I wanted to grab some grub at a joint off the hustle and bustle of the main street as I tend to uncover good food with less crowding. I went down Gould and after a bit of twist and turns I stumbled upon Neighbourhood as they were beginning to open up for lunch. The joint itself has some seating outside and then a bar the moment you walk in with some high tops on the left side. They also have more tables in the back of the restaurant but I wanted to catch all the action and people watch so chose a table near the front with a view of the windows. The bartenders and waitress were super friendly here and they struck up lively conversation as I perused the menu. This joint offers up a standard menu with a bunch of entrees and appetizers but also seems to offer a bbq type menu in the back which seems to be limited supply. I was not looking to get stuffed completely but instead wanted some bites so focused my attention on the entrees and appetizers. The menu here has a Louisiana or dirty south feel to it which was a welcome sight for me cos who can hate on a delicious piece of fried chicken. I started by perusing the drinks menu and my attention was caught by the "Hood's Zombie" because it said strictly one per customer next to it. I mean who can turn down a drink that is limited to one per person. The drink is packed with a lot of adult goodness including absinthe and I thought was delicious. It's a shame because I really wanted a second one.. but I digress. For the grub, we decided to have an order of the fried chicken and the tater tots with cheese and jalapeno. Clearly going for the healthy lunch. The tots were out and they were nice and crisp with the bacon being a delicious protein on top. I wish they had put more jalapenos but the ones I was able to snag were a delicious plus on the tots. The chicken was next and it was tender and juicy with the skin being fried to a nice light crisp. The aioli sauce they provide is a nice accompaniment to the chicken and provides flavor complexity. All in all, this is a great spot and I can see it be hopping at night with their drink menus, friendly service, and upscale bar food. Definitely a positive in my book and worth recommending to those in the Bondi area.

This ended up being Neighbourhood, a local hipster spot, which she's been to several times for drinks. It was pretty bumping for a Wednesday evening (around 7:15pm). We were able to snag a more secluded table between the kitchen and backyard area. This place is loud and there were lots of large groups but it made for a good atmosphere. Just be prepared for the noise and music. The menu is split into daily deals (Monday nights are burgers & beer for $15.00 AUD), drinks (cocktails, wines, beer and cider), small plates, mains, sides, burgers and desserts. Apparently, there a Sunday roast ($30.00 AUD) that sounds promising. FYI: there's a 10% service charge on Sundays and holidays. Staff were friendly and continuously brought out water jugs. - Mac 'n' cini ($12.00 AUD for 5) - came with a side of blue cheese sauce. Actually, not too heavy, lightly fried but I wouldn't want to eat this if it was just me. - Marinated eggplant san choy bau ($12.00 AUD for 3) - gem lettuce cups, mixed herbs, house pickles, Sriracha mayo and crispy shallots. This was a better small plate. A tasty vegetarian spin on lettuce wraps. - Black angus rump steak ($15.00 AUD for 250g) - I added a glass of red ($5.00 AUD) as this was their Wednesday special. Pretty good deal in my books! Came with a small piece of roasted corn and potato fries. A bit weird that they didn't ask how I wanted my steak cooked but it all worked out. A tender, just before well done steak with an addictive jus sauce. - Alabama slammer ($14.00 AUD) - southern fried chicken with burger cheese, bourbon BBQ sauce, blue cheese mayo and slaw. I had a bite and the sauce is on the sweet side. Decent but not the biggest burger. Doesn't come with any sides either. It's casual but a pretty reasonable spot to grab a drink and a few bites in the Bondi hood. 3.5 stars.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Do…read morenot go here. The food is not fresh, frozen and probably not safe to eat. To start any place with the manic misogynistic decorations should be an immediate red flag. Unicycle, posters about nagging wife, tanks from a motor cycle other random assorted junk and posters with no cohesive theme or vision. It screams lazy owner/operator who needed to decorate it so they went to a garage sale or a 2nd hand junk store and slapped trash on the wall to call it good enough. All of this would be excusable IF the food was good. Which I was not. They were strangely overstaffed but they looked irritated to see us walk in. The food looks nothing like the pictures. We had the civiche, the grilled scallops and the garlic prawns. The civiche was prepared improperly and we were scared to eat it. There was ZERO citrus so immediately we knew not a civiche. It was thin long sashimi slices of fish served with the slightest few drops of what I would say as a watery cilantro liquid, a chimichuri ordered from wish or Temu if you will. The fish smelled a little but we chalked it up to clearly being frozen. We ate it and the best I can say is we didn't get sick. The prawns were clearly frozen from a bag psychotically over cooked with the consistency of a old leather shoe. They tasted of nothing but were....edible. The problem and when we gave up and left was the grilled scallops. The first plate of scallops they brought us didn't look right upon inspection they were completely raw and uncooked never touched a grill or hot surface, stone cold. When we brought this to the servers attention he was clearly pretty upset with us for complaining. He took away the plate of raw and later brought back another plate of scallops which did have color from cooking but the smell of it was clear these previously frozen scallops had turned and they had turned a while ago. When we cut into them they were stringy and mushy as if they had started to rot. We each tried a bite and immediately had to spit it out as the fish was clearly bad to the point it left a singing bitter fishy foul flavor on the pallet. We asked for the check and to have the scallops removed from the bill. The server refused to remove the scallops because they prepared it twice for us AS IF THAT WASNT THEIR MISTAKE. We explained they tasted foul and clearly expired at best. He pointed to another table insisting we couldn't be correct because that couple ate the same scallops (Thoughts and prays to thar couple) as if that meant anything. We had a brief discussion where we explained we were from a beach town had eaten scallops our whole lives and knew what they should look, feel and taste like and he stated he wasn't the owner and they made us two plates and he was doing us a favor by not double charging us for them. I think he could see how upset we were and by that point we had attracted the attention of some other patrons. He discounted us $10 but that was only 1/2 the cost of the scallops.

Trio is a cute cafe located in the heart of Bondi Beach. They have indoor and outdoor seating, if…read moreyou can snag a seat outside. It's got a nice little view of the ocean. They have a killer breakfast menu that's served all day. Took my family here when they were visiting from the states. We ordered the Mediterranean breakfast which came with poached eggs with truffle oil on olive sourdough, served with char-grilled haloumi, crispy pancetta, semi-dried tomatoes, spinach & chorizo! Very delicious, I highly recommend. We also ordered the trio tasting plate so we could have a little bit of everything. My husband ordered the shakshouka (middle eastern breakfast) it was ok, we were expecting more from this dish, it was a bit bland. They offer some great coffee! If you're in the mood for some booze, they offer some great cocktails, beer, and wine. The staff are friendly and the place is always packed. I would recommend making a reso before you show up.

It was a busy Sunday afternoon but we accepted the 1 hr wait and boy was is worth it! The food was amazing!!! I had the brunch breakfast burrito and being a Cali girl it was hard to order because you know all the awesome Mexican food is in SoCal :D if not Mexico, it was so yum! My breakfast burrito was deconstructed and delicious. Look at my photos, the burrito included chorizo cooked fancy, spiced up perfectly scrambled eggs and flour tortillas (or corn tortillas). I also had a bit of my aunty's white truffle oil scramble eggs WOW! I will never be able to eat normal scrambled eggs again! We will definitely return before we leave Australia! I forgot to mention how wonderful and helpful the waitresses and hostess are! My apologies for the multiple updates as my international cellphone and wireless connection at our temp home was acting up.
