Anyway, after the appointment, not quite sure what happened but my husband said he would never go back. Fast forward a few weeks and we got a bill from insurance saying they wouldn't pay because full x-rays had already been done within the previous 12 months. When I called the office to ask if they had checked with my husbands previous dentist for records their answer was....getting records to them was our responsibility. I stated they were the professions and we were the clients, they should have called. Her answer, and I quote "I have over 3,000 patients. I can't keep track of everyone's records." If you are looking for a new dentist move on. Extremely unprofessional.

Then I found out why: it took them three tries to take impressions of my teeth, and removing each molding hurt more than the previous try. It felt like my teeth were literally going to rip out of my mouth. When I arrived for my next appointment, Dr Tanannis realized he had sent the impression to the wrong lab. He had to send it back out to another lab, which took two more weeks. For the prices he charges, the pain of the impressions he screwed up, and the weeks it took to finally get the bridge, Dr Tananis and Lewes Dental weren't worth it. Found another, better dentist nearby.

She was told to go back to this Dentist and get a permanent filling, when she called to make the appointment they wouldn't do the filling until she got another xray and exam then make another appointment for the filling. If they don't trust the Endodontist they recommended to do the root canal correctly why do they recommend that Endodontist. She told them she just wanted the filling, when she went in they told her she needed a crown. Told her if they only do a filling it would not be done right. I worked for a Dentist and I know an office that's out for the money. They should be ashamed of themselves taking advantage of an elderly woman.

After the appointment and paying a $95 consultation fee, I was provided a treatment plan with an out-of-network estimate. I asked for clarification and was told that they had since left the network of my insurance plan. They said they called patients to inform them of this change but I "fell through the cracks." Nobody told me of this change of network status prior to the appointment, despite the practice having a legal obligation under HIPAA to notify patients of network changes. The out-of-network rate this practice charges is more than double the in-network rate with my insurance plan (based on the CPT code). Rather than pay hundreds of extra dollars out-of-pocket, I cancelled my appointment and made an appointment with an in-network provider. I understand that mistakes happen. But whether intentional or not, the practice did a bait-and-switch: advertised themselves as in-network then switched to out-of-network and never said anything. I asked the practice to either mail or email me a copy of the referral note I gave them during the consultation, since I will need this for my new appointment with an in-network provider. Moreover, I am legally entitled to this information as part of my medical record. As of writing this review, they have failed to return the referral to me. I also asked the practice to refund the $95 consultation fee. The practice refused claiming "services were rendered" taking zero accountability for their mistake. Kristen, the office manager, expressed inhumane disregard for the money and time (half day off work, driving ~3 hours roundtrip, spending ~2 hours at the office) their incompetence cost me. She claimed they had "no legal obligation" to refund me or to have informed me of their change in network status. While HIPAA may disagree, focusing solely on legal obligations is besides the point... any self-respecting business would own up to the error. But this is not a self-respecting business, and they have trained their staff to operate as such. Finally, during the actual appointment, Dr. Ditty was extremely unprofessional. He mocked my dentist for "writing a novel" in the referral note. While I do not have a copy of the referral note (the practice has still failed to return it to me), I recall it being at most ~4 sentences in length. If Dr. Ditty is annoyed at having to read ~4 sentences from a colleague about your health, then what level of attention is he actually willing to provide to your medical care? Moreover, shouldn't a doctor encourage more details in a referral, to help them understand the problem? If Dr. Ditty does not respect his colleagues, then he certainly will not respect you as a patient. Avoid this practice. It is not worth it.

I had the misfortune of being subjected to the incompetent and poorly trained optometrist Li Qing Ng. This woman made a thoroughgoing misdiagnosis. I was told that I had to have immediate surgery for a hyper-enlarged cataract and that my glasses needed a major correction. Well guess what? Shortly thereafter I went to an ophthalmologist and I was told that the cataracts in my eyes were insignificant and that I didn't need a prescription for glasses. If I had the time I would report her to the Delaware Board of Examiners in Optometry. Heed my words, otherwise you will jeopardize your health.
