May, 2025 update. Wolf River did the site survey in March. The survey was quick, efficient and confirmed what the consultant had planned in her initial proposal. They installed my 14.4 kw system the first week of April. The installers were amazing. It was done in a single day with a crew of installers and an electrician who walked me through everything, even the app we use to monitor the system. The WPS inspector was out today, installed the Net Meter and turned on the system. We are now generating our own electricity. From initial consultation to a fully functioning system in under three months and at a cost that is just about what I currently pay WPS for "traditional" electrical system. I really cannot say enough good things about working with Wolf River. I am sorry that others have had less positive experiences, and I can only speak for my experience and it has been nothing less than terrific. read more

Okay, so if you haven't looked at my Google.com review, maybe it is time you have. Wolf River Electric is the company that has sold me a solar battery backup system for my home. This project has been nothing short of a cataclysmic paradigm. This started over a year ago. there are delays due to electricians, faulty equipment, the holidays, other holidays, a power failure in our home, possibly the fact that they are based in Isanti, MN and we live in Rochester, MN. Or it could be they bid and sold us EG4 products that are for DIY homeowners not residential homeowners in NW, Rochester. When I say this is the worst project ever, I do mean ever. Our solar array was installed in June 2021. that project was completed in 3 days, including the panels and the inverter. The company that came last year to remove and replace took 1 day for each part. Wolf River Electric has refused to help me setup my solar array since March 24, 2026 which means that all these sunny days are wasted on an inverter and array sitting on the side of the house and roof. the battery and solar issues, that Luke Johnson states, is my fault, so for $3200, they will come down and fix the batteries and the solar. EG4 tech support won't assist me due to the nature of the battery backup system. Solaredge who is the solar inverter manufacturer relies on the installer to diagnose problems. And the LG Solar panels are just sitting there, on the roof. But this review is about Wolf River Electric, not I. Design was rushed to sign. manufacturer information wasn't available until requested. To receive the federal tax credits, they were complicit in providing a power on and power off to display a working system only to work into the new year before a completion date was set. So, it passed inspections it was running on it's own for less than a month before it refused to work, just like Wolf River Electric. the power stopped entering into the house. Wolf River Electric said we can come down on Monday, this was a Saturday. Still had freezing temperatures, and no power. I called our local energy provider RPU to come take a look from the outside in. After consulting with a solar install company the power was restored, not by Wolf River Electric. When Wolf River Electric did come down, the EG4 backup array was inoperable. One of the batteries was damaged by the power restoration and so there was talk of a new battery install. but sadly they hadn't ordered the new battery until just last week. So. I have a solar array, inverters, two batteries that are all just waiting for Wolf River Electric, to come and repair and reinstall the whole project including our solar system that worked before they were even an idea. Now, Wolf River Electric is based in Isanti, MN, and from the Twin Cities to Rochester they advertise solar power for homes. They ruined my existing solar power system. they installed a whole home battery backup system that worked for less time than the warranty, which incidentally has been voided due to the power fiasco. So here we are, back to the beginning of this review. I wouldn't recommend them for anything. I would urge you to decide for yourself before doing the research, looking at solar electric installers, and see for yourself how they are perceived online and in person. Hopefully the experience you have won't look like the train wreck that we have. zero assistance. zero promises kept. zero stars. read more

Things have gone from bad to worse with Wolf River electric. I started the process with them in August. They insisted I needed to get financing for them to access my garage. They told me there was absolutely no financial risk of the project didn't go through. After months of inconsistent/conflicting answers, they told me that they had major concerns about my garage. (Other solar companies have recommended a new roof but that my garage is structurally sound.) So I asked WR to cancel the project. Now I'm being told that I'm on the hook for closing costs of almost $1200. Sure, I'll take responsibility that I didn't see that I'm the contract but WR told me several times there was no financial risk of cancelling. Trying to work with customer service to resolve this situation has also been a nightmare. They are not taking responsibility for any of this. Will update if any sort of resolution is offered. Absolute nightmare to work with. Terrible communication. Inconsistent and false information. read more

There have been many unexplained delays and very poor customer service. There have been many damages to my property. My garage door was damaged. I paid my handyman to repair this. My electric outlet near the breaker box was damaged. I paid my handyman to repair this. A trench was dug across my property and was not filled in. This was unsafe for me and my horses. They have not filled it in properly. i paid my handyman to make temporary repairs. For months they said that they would fill it in, but they have not done so, despite many reminders. They cut through some stall mats and did not tell me. I only found out because a sighted friend pointed out the damage. I had to bug them to have the mats replaced. They repeatedly let animals out of enclosures and endangered horses by giving them access to feed rooms. (One of the most common ways that horses die is to colic after overeating grain.) I am blind, they read the contract to me and reassured me that they would cover the cost of tree removal. Now they want me to pay for tree removal, which is necessary in order for the solar panels to receive sunlight.. I ask that they complete the project. Require employees to manage care better on properties with livestock and pets. Pay for the removal of 3 trees that interfere with the solar project. ($5,000) Reimburse for my repair of their damages to my electric outlet, garage door and repairs on the trench. Compensate for inconvenience and poor management of the project. $2000 They need to reach out with an appropriate offer for resolution. read more

Do not use, unless you enjoy having to go to court to get your money back. Check the reviews on google, trustpilot, BBB. Don't think, "maybe this won't happen to me." It will. They signed an agreement with me about 7 months ago. They have not and will not complete the contract. After at least 37 emails, countless phone calls and texts, conversations with two people claiming to be upper management, and talking with at least 8 different people, nothing has been done. More details to come later, but I'm going to keep it brief until the court proceedings are done. They could simply say "we're sorry for not completing the project in the time frame we promised, here is a refund of your deposit." Instead, I will have to sue to get my deposit back. I repeat, read the reviews, it can and will happen to you. Do not do business with this company. read more

We were sold solar panels, but we have a large tree in our yard and don't get enough sun. Sales person never said anything, just sold us the panels. When I called the company the sales guy conveniently no longer works there. Very poor customer service. Called several times with no response. Finally went to the website and texted to the instant messaging rep that pops up. Had to call numerous times to get a response and in the end we are stuck. So we are paying for solar panels AND electricity because we don't have enough sun. Have requested compensation but haven't heard back. Save yourself a headache. Don't use this company. read more

I've asked three times to take me off their Solicitation call list and they keep calling! I'm registered on the National do not call registry and have filed two complaints with the National do not call registry about them continuing to call. They called me yesterday for the fourth time and I asked them to stop calling me again and remove me from their call list. The Wolf River employee Hayden this time said he will remove me from the call list just like they said the last three times, but I'm probably just get another call in a few months just like before. While installing solar panels a worker slipped and kicked a hole in our bedroom ceiling, two years ago. They fixed it pretty fast but they left a giant yellow scar across our ceiling. Two years later they agreed to fix the big ugly scar. They sent a guy out and now there is a big ultra white scar and they think painting the big white scar on our ceiling is considered fixing it. Very frustrating. Often giving us one/12 hours notice that they'll send someone out. This has been going on too long and is very frustrating. Though the solar panels are great! read more

Working for this company was great in the beginning. The company, assuming due to poor business, started multiple rounds of layoffs. The remote solar sales reps get paid not a dime unless they're able to snag a consultation between a customer and a closer. My supervisor, Christine, always told me I was in the green with my goals and numbers. Phil in HR told me I was being let go due to my work performance, regardless of my reviews from my supervisor. Never once got a warning, write up, or even a threat that I would be let go. Phil then decided to tell unemployment that I wasn't let go for the reason stated above. This was an extremely unfair and unprofessional way to go about this. If you're thinking of doing business or working for wolf river electric, look somewhere else. read more

Update 2. Wolf River came out and installed a 16th panel. Everything works, the panel, the connection to Enphase (the software for tracking energy), and the connection to Xcel. The layout looks like it was planned and symmetrical, and the guys were great. The thing that's great about Wolf River is that they hire a lot of electricians, so the guys know what they're doing. One thing that put me off about All Energy Solar is that they didn't know how to use an existing sub panel (in the garage on which the panels were installed) without going back to the "master electrician" and that master electrician was not particularly "customer friendly." Maybe I caught him on a bad day. Be warned that the permitting process (both city and Xcel) takes quite a while, mainly the application approval. There are a number of documents sent out by Xcel that need to be signed so just that took a couple months. read more

The sales pitch was good, I was very interested in their product. I scheduled a time for them to come to my home and do a land survey or whatever, they did not show up, no call, no show. When I contacted them about it they said that the appointment scheduled someone forgot to hit send.. they were apologetic and tried to entice me to continue business with their company and to do that they offered me row 5 seats to a Wild Game at home- which I have yet to receive. Anyways I rescheduled the first appointment, changed my schedule around and they again no called, no showed. So, I sent them an email letting them know that I would not be using their company. Then today I get a notice email that an invoice for over $6,000 will be due.. they can try and sue me for that money I am not paying a cent. Our first contact was from a guy who asked us if we were interested in solar energy. Not really was our reply. The main reason being that our age puts us on the down hill trek. How could it possibly have any benefits of savings at our age. After a few minutes explaining some of the ways that it could do just that we agreed to take his phone call one step farther. We were scheduled to have a video conversation with a sales representative that started explaining how solar energy could be of benefit to us, even at our age. He explained everything from start to finish. He answered our many questions. We were impressed with how friendly and knowledgeable he was. We filled out an application to see if we would qualify. Yes we qualified so we electronically completed all the forms and in less than 4 hours we were on their schedule for instillation. From this point on, Wolf River Electric Company is in the drivers seat. They take care of all the permits, design, instillation. We don't have to worry about anything. They do it all. How simple can that be. I would suggest that you should call Wolf River Electric for information on solar energy. Tell them I sent you. I will make $500.00 dollars. It's a win, win. read more

Not pleased. In their pitch, they say they'll install enough panels to cover your monthly energy bill, and the new loan payment for the panels becomes your new "energy bill." Since the loan reamortizes every 5 years as you pay it down, and energy prices are going up, you'll start to see the real savings in 10-20 years. For now, it's a net zero change in monthly cost as you have this new loan payment but no electricity bills. However, when projecting your monthly loan payment, they factor in the tax rebate for installing panels. My salesperson told me quite literally not to claim the panels on my taxes and they would take care of the tax credit and get it applied to my loan. Glad I asked my project manager the same question because that is certainly not the case, and I would've missed out on about $20k if I had listened to the sales rep! Anyway, since the loan doesn't reamortize for the first 5 years, I'll be paying over $100 a month more than they projected, so really my monthly energy costs will be increased for the first 5 years after installing the panels. Additionally, they don't mention until you're far into the project that you'll have to insure your panels, which increased my insurance by around $300 a month. So now, my monthly bills are way higher than before. Not to mention it took many months to install (much longer than they told me it would) and they left cans, trash, and scraps of metal all over my yard and driveway. I really regret this experience. Update: After reading other reviews and doing some research, the solar tax credit is not a refundable credit, not sure why their salespeople get away with telling you a bunch of nonsense. Update: Wolf River has been reaching out to tell me that my "loan undergoes re-amortization three times within a 12-month period" - this is still inaccurate! For the first three years, it will re-amortize once per year. This doesn't help me anyway, as the solar tax credit is non-refundable. read more

when discussing the solar system with the sale rep Brandon Lotsberg, he told us that our solar system would create enough power to offset our electric usage AND our solar payment with the exception being the months of December and January. He also told us that in the winter, all I had to do was clear some of the snow off of the panels and the panels would create heat as they produced power which in turn would clear the remainder of the snow on its own. He also referred to the Federal Energy Tax Credit as a Rebate and told us that we would be able to use that money to pay down our solar system further reducing the finance amount. These statements were misleading and fraudulent. According to Brandon, the system would end up being free with little to no out of pocket expense, but instead this system is costing me $500 a month and that's not including the cost of my electric when the system isn't producing enough due to weather. Had I known i was being lied to I never would have got this system as I can NOT afford it and it is most likely going to cause me to lose my home. read more
