This is my first review ever on yelp just because Im just not the type of person who does that. However I feel it is necessary for me to give this one a decent review. I was just visiting a friend in Gaithersburg area last Sunday. My friend suggested this place. O!M!G! I was sooooo impressed! The decor is beautiful! It's so clean and the FOOD! They have almost everything! It tried pho, I had dim sum (which is my favorite dishes), I had sushi, I had Korean bbq! The only problem was I couldn't eat more. I'll definitely be visiting my friend more often because of this great restaurant. I really don't understand why there are many negative reviews. It's a large location in an older strip mall. It's a corner spot so it has a lot of parking spots surrounding the place. The interior actually shocked me because it is fairly new and modern esque. They do have elements you would expect from a Chinese buffet like the LED lights and the water fountain. The unique part of this place is how spacious it is. You have a lot of walking space to wander. It worked well because of me being lost all the time, but it made it much more relaxing for me. You pay first and then you get seated. You then go for food. The options here were less than other places, but I personally love the choices here. They had several seafood choices that's not overly heavy on breading and are a great choice of getting your money worth. Lots of fried foods if you want that. I didn't try the gimmicking things like Pho or the hibachi or the fondue station. I went in and ate all the seafood I could and I think I got my money worth. For $10 for lunch, it's worth it. You'll be filled with some flavor. I was craving cheap but large quantities and it worked out for me. I lucked out and the servers left me alone and let me do my thing because I wasn't in a social mood. The seafood was dry. The flavors are almost non-existent. However for the price and for my expectations, I would say I am satisfied. Don't come here looking for the best or a great experience. Know what you want and know what to expect. read more

Not a fan at all.. They advertise they have free drinks. Then how did my bill turn out to be $28 for my 9 year son and my self? Super obvious, they force you to pay for a drink when clearly I only got water. In which we never got a refill through out our whole dine in. My son walked up to our waitress and had to keep asking for a refill. She gave him a look then walked away for about 5 minute. She came back out with two cups of pink water then had disappeared. Our plates were adding up on our table and I was fed up with having to track down our waitress for clearing our table and not giving us our drink refills. This is the second time we had came in with bad experience. Different server, but lack of refills, attitude problems and plate clearing. The food was just alright for a American Chinese good place. But not too much of the hype. Not sure if I'll be coming back to this restaurant. I'll stick with my daily Chinese food place here in Frederick. read more

came here on a Saturday. The location is in the corner of a shopping center next to a laundromat. There was plenty of seating inside the restaurant and it is quite large. I do wish there was more lighting throughout the restaurant as it does seem quite dark in there (plus the ceilings are dark). There is natural light by the seating area and then lights over each of the food areas. The food was good and lots of seafood options along with sushi. This is your typical Chinese buffet restaurant, but they have a lot of seafood and sushi. No one in our group really ate the sushi since my wife and my sister are both pregnant. They advertise as having Korean BBQ, but really it is just a couple types of meat and you ask them to cook it for you. It isn't the type where you get lots of options and they cook it at your table. It seems it was more of an afterthought for the Korean bbq, like "hmm what else can we put in our restaurant? throw in a couple types of meat and have someone grill it and we will say we have Korean BBQ too". All in all it was a decent Chinese restaurant and the food was probably a little better than most Chinese buffets since the restaurant is fairly new. hopefully in the next few years, the quality doesn't go down (as I notice with most Chinese buffets). read more

There are a lot varieties for both "Americanized" and close to traditional Chinese food. There sushi and seaweed salad to represent a little Japanese cuisine. The sushi rice us flavored well with rice vinegar that's not over powering. Thank The quality of the food is very good and seasoned well. It is not over salted or bland, but just right. There are sauces and condiments conveniently placed to use. The service is prompt to remove your used plates. The staff is friendly. The new promo is free drinks with the dinner entree's. We are water drinkers so we cannot take advantage of that. The restaurant is very clean; staff who refills the food, wipes down and around the buffet table. The dining area is spacious and bright. The price is very reasonable for dinner and lunch. We will re-visit even if there may not be another 10% coupon. As far as the local buffets, this is the best one. If they made their own desserts, the rating would've been 5 stars. read more

Disappointing. Much of the food was cold and stale on the buffet. Could have had potential if it was hot and fresh.

We were in Gaithersburg for a couple days and wanted to find a Chinese buffet in the area. Lu Buffet had reasonably good reviews so we decided to try it out. We were very disappointed! We arrived at 8:15 pm for dinner on Sunday. Closing time was 10 pm (on the door sign) so we figured we still had time for a good meal (we were wrong). At 8:15 pm they were already closing down and not bringing out any more fresh food. Some of the buffet food trays were still warm, but most were nearly cold. Nothing was hot, not even the soup. We walked around trying to find some items that were still acceptable. There weren't many. Pretty much the only thing that was warm was the 'iced tea' we ordered (the ice was limited). The waitress came by for the dirty dishes but never asked if we needed anything, wanted more drinks, etc. My wife said we should never come back to this place. I had to agree. read more

I came here on Father's day, which is a Sunday. They raised the price by a dollar I believe. It was all day dinner price on Sunday. There was a good amount of people, but the quality and quantity of food was very subpar. My family and I would probably not come back. My family and I thought the selection of food was less than other buffets that we have been to with similar pricing or even lower. The food itself wasn't that great neither. The two things I get consistently when I go to buffets are the crabs and shrimps, but the crabs and shrimps here were VERY soggy/mushy. I'm not sure if its due to the amount of MSG they used or if it was just overcooked(?) but my tongue was definitely tingling after the meal. :c It was a very disappointing experience. This place does have decent option - sushi, ice cream bar, hibachi, pho & "korean bbq" station. The hibachi and korean bbq (not really kbbq lol) are sooo greasy that I felt gross for the rest of the day; I guess it's just their ploy to make you full faster. The rest of their food's just mediocre, very Americanized and heavy. They barely make the dim sum dishes (about 8-10 items max) as they're always empty. Their ice cream bar is pretty good tho as they have about 10-12 different variations! Overall - Just your typical Chinese buffet. it is very affordable as it is only $10 for lunch. I also heard that they're better on weekends as they serve more seafood during those time. read more

I enjoyed the new buffet experience here. Service was fast and friendly. The place is very clean. The food was good for buffet quality. Some dishes were better than others depending on what you get. Here are some of my favorites: lo mein, general tso, white fish, salt and pepper shrimp (big!), sushi, pan fried dumpling, hibachi in the back, blue crabs (so good). There's two soup noodle options seafood and pho soup. I would suggest trying the seafood as I wasn't too much a fan of the pho soup, a little bland. The dessert were not very good here other than the amazing ice cream selection, multi-tier chocolate fondue and fresh fruits. They do have snow crabs here! But they are cold and seem frozen at times, would have been nice if it was steamed out. I would come back here with my family, of the choices that i did like, it's worth it to be back! It's better than the other buffet place in moco. Meal is about $17 dinner for adult on a Friday night. There's ample parking too. read more

The best buffet in this area. Granted the bar is low. But here it is. Their main competition is Hibachi supreme, but I feel this one has better quality food. For $12.72 you get a lunch buffet with a soda. Some things that stood out was the honey chicken, which was probably my favorite item. They had a few different types of fish as well, and plenty of shrimp, tho the hot and spicy shrimp wasn't really spicy at all, but still tasted decent. The general tsaos chicken was a miss in my book, and the egg rolls and spring rolls were just meh. They actually had decent quality cheese wontons tho, which made me happy because it seems most places they're either barely filled, or too hard to enjoy. They have a decent sushi selection... Doesn't look like much but it tastes fresh. They also have a made to order soup and hibachi stations. For dessert they have the standard cakes and cookies, as well as Hershey chocolate ice cream cups or sherbet cups. For the people who don't like Chinese food, there's plenty of other options including some tacos that looked good but I didn't try, Mac n cheese bake, filo wrapped hot dogs that were actually pretty good, and pork chops. read more

I've been coming here since they first opened. Recently went and it wasn't as good as it used to be. Food was cold, in fact, the area I was seated in was cold as well.I grabbed a cake and it was so stale that it made a crunch sound. Staff was FRIENDLY. I've been meaning to check out this place since it opened. As much as I love the idea of a buffet, I'm a one-plate type of guy. Anything beyond that makes me feel like I'm stuffing myself, so buffets are usually a waste of money for me...unless you believe in the concept that we shouldn't actually eat all we can eat. I popped in on a Saturday just before noon and I expected it to be crowded. It wasn't. When I walked in, the cashier was ready to take my request and another person seated me right away. I was alone, so this sometimes makes it awkward as a restaurant will place you in some of the weirdest places (like in the back or near the restroom), because, as a single, you shouldn't be allowed to sit with the other people. Some establishments act as though having families have to look at you by yourself while they enjoy their meal may emotionally scar or frighten them. "No, Little Tommy, don't look at that sad man eating by himself. He doesn't have a family and no one loves him. Look away." This wasn't the case here. I was seated at a table that could seat 6 in an open room that made my experience rather enjoyable. There were a few other families and singles in the room, but we all stayed out of each other's way and the noise level was decent. The meal was $9.99 and the drink was $1.85. For that price, you might expect the food to be just ok. That was not the case. I tried a little of everything (except sushi or the hibachi grill items--so I guess not everything) and it was all good, hot, and nicely seasoned. From the egg drop soup, to the fried shrimp, to the pork chops, to the chicken and broccoli, it was all really tasty. I left room for dessert, and tried the majority of them available. I found that the variety was better than some other buffets I've visited and they all tasted rather good. Their fruit was sweet, and they had about 8 varieties of ice cream. Compared to other Chinese/Asian ayce restaurants, this one is pretty good! Sushi was for the most part fresh and tasty, the hot foods were good (still surprised about how good the crawfish was), and decent stir fry stat. The bonus Korean bbq and pho stations were definitely a plus, and the dessert options were plentiful. If you go, I do recommend you avoid going closer to the end of the night. On the first night my wife and I went, they started cleaning up and wrapping up around 9:40 even though they listed the closing hours as 10:30, which made us feel a bit rushed. It met standards for this type of buffet (meaning don't expect authentic Chinese food quality you'd get from a normal sit-down restaurant). Had a decent selection of your standard Chinese buffet foods including seafood. I'd say food quality is actually slightly better than the nearby Hibachi Buffet & Grill though selection is smaller (but still plentiful). They have a whole cabinet of frozen desserts that my kids loved. This place is much cleaner and seems slightly less chaotic than Hibachi. I think this will be my new go-to Chinese buffet when craving that American Chinese food flavor. read more

Seafood lovers will find a variety of choices. Other dishes were plentiful with quality ingredients yet would have benefited from the use of spices. Most were fairly bland for our tastes. The hot and sour soup was seasoned very nicely. So, we know spices exist in the kitchen :) We did not try everything and may have missed some other good choices. Pretty good for an AYCE Chinese buffet. Compared to other buffets I've been to, this offers more variety. The pho from the pho station is okay, the broth doesn't taste like typical pho broth, but it does the job. The short ribs at the Korean bbq are pretty good. The hibachi isn't good at all and I blame the cook behind the grill; he doesn't season the stir fry until the end and there's barely any flavor to it. As far as the buffet items, you got to try a little bit of what catches your eye and find out if it's to your liking. The restaurant is spacious with plentiful seating, and the bathroom is decently clean. Would've given 4 stars, but they shut down and clean up earlier than expected. It's listed they close at 10:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and we arrived to the buffet around 9 p.m. Around 9:40 p.m., they started cleaning up and preparing to close. I will note there weren't a lot of other customers around that time. But we didn't appreciate feeling a little rushed by the staff. We still stayed 'til close because we wanted to finish and enjoy the rest of our meal. I'm sure we would've arrived earlier if it had been known they start cleaning/closing up much earlier than the stated close time. Stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. I really wanted this place to be good but unfortunately it was not. For starters the options are somewhat limited. There is a hibachi, sushi & pho station but the food did it look appealing and appeared to have been sitting out for a long time. I opted to skip these stations and go straight to the hot foods. To my disappointment these foods were not hot at all. The dumplings, egg rolls, chicken and broccoli, and chicken skewers were all cool to lukewarm. The lo mein noodles had good flavor but these too were not hot. The restaurant was not busy so I was unsure why the food quality was so poor. I am a huge fan of Asian food and buffets, but this one fell flat. They also did not provide gloves at the stations to grab the utensils with. We came with a backup plan in mind (in case they were closed like other reviews stated). Luckily, they were open and I'm so glad we came! Everything was absolutely delicious! This may possibly be my favorite buffet/hibachi in town now! The honey chicken was my favorite, but I also was excited to see all the different seafood items. Finish your meal off with one of several different ice creams and desserts or head to the chocolate fountain! Just be aware that some of the ice creams have peanut butter in them and there are only 2 scoops for 8 different flavors. Those with peanut allergies may want to steer clear. read more

Lots of variety. Some dishes are higher quality than others, but overall things are fresh and tasy. In particular the action stations in the back yield custom, fresh results. Sushi is acceptable, shrimp is good, the old country buffet section was surprisingly good (steak, mac and cheese, roll). My facorite part that keeps me coming back, though, is the desserts. While there is a large variety, I just get a heaping bowl of Hershey's ice cream - moose tracks and graham central station. The ice cream alone is worth $8! This is a Chinese buffet restaurant. It has a large seating area. We went on a Friday night. Highest prices and best selection are on weekend nights. The food was variable in quality, mostly decent but not exceptional. There is a lot of emphasis on seafood, with a great variety of it available - sushi, crab, mussels, etc. Most of the rest of the food was standard Chinese buffet food. There were a few items each of some other cuisines - Asian, American, Mexican. My biggest complaint as a vegetarian is that there was little in the way of vegetables. There was a bigger salad bar than one would expect in this kind of restaurant, and the food in it was fresh. There was an unusually extensive collection of desserts - a dozen kinds of ice cream, 3 different puddings, a variety of cakes, cookies, and a good selection of fruit. They had ample staff, and they were attentive. If allowed, I would have given it 3.5 stars. read more

Overall, not bad. Service was decent. The variety of food was off the charts with your typical Chinese American food, a few dim sum items, hibachi, korean bbq, lots of dessert options, and sushi. Food was freshly made and pretty good quality; however, nothing really stood out to me except the Chinese stewed beef (one of the few authentic Chinese dishes). As for seafood, no crab legs, but they did have steamed crabs, crawfish, and several steamed fish and shrimp dishes; pretty good selection. The hibachi was decent, I packed on the shrimp and several other items, selected a sauce, and the cook took care of the rest. The place was fairly busy for a weeknight with lots of Asians, but I think many like me were disappointed in not much authentic Chinese food. read more

Waitress harassed me for a tip and followed us to the register saying "tip" "propina" and wouldn't leave us alone until we did so. She wasn't going to let us leave the building without it. There's no reason to tip at a self serve buffet. Would not recommend. read more
