Hibachi chicken -- burnt taste, no veggies and bland.
    Brynt L.

Recently ordered from Kobe via Uber Eats. When the food arrived I was very disappointed. For starters, the meal did not include any vegetables, which generally comes with the order. There was also barely any to no sauce on the chicken. Also, everything tasted burnt. Most hibachi places also include yum yum sauce, however the charged an additional $1 for the sauce and it was barely enough to cover the dish. Overall, I was severely disappointed and don't think I would order from them again.

This review is for their sushi only. This place does what appears to be a brisk hibachi business so maybe I'll try that another time. Their sushi is mediocre. The quality and freshness of the fish was suspect. The rice lacked flavor and the fish was too cold. If you want sushi, you should probably look elsewhere. I won't be returning here for sushi.

    Basa filet bento

When I saw a place with no reviews pop up in a search, I had to give it a try. Brand new, a counter and tables setup clearly oriented to take out. Huge mural of a samurai under cherry trees fills one wall. Since the sushi menu was all rolls, I decided to try the hibachi. The bento included an undistinguished California roll, two each nice crunchy dumplings and crab Rangoon with tangy peanut sauce on the side, and a few bites of standard salad. The basa turned out to be a mild white fish, fresh, with a slight crust and flaky inside. I got it over noodles rather than rice just for grins. Biggest gripe - the soy sauce was that crud in plastic packets, and contained neither MSG nor soy. Cheerful service, good amount of food for the money. Not a bad place to grab lunch if you are in the area, it's a few doors away from Lotte Plaza supermarket.

This place just opened this week and we had been keeping our eye out for the grand opening for a while. Although we were hoping for a more traditional Sushi/Japanese Steakhouse this was still satisfying. The menu is similar to Sarku Japan with a sweeter sauce and much larger portions. The sushi rolls are 5 steps ahead of those at Sarku though, so definitely our quick sushi spot for now on. Definitely didn't disappoint.

This is my go to and they always provide quality! There aspen hill roll is my favorite and their shrimp tempura is a classic safe bet if you want something tasty and simple.

    3. Shrimp Hibachi

I actually would have given 2.5 stars instead of 3 if i could have. The taste is decent but I was highly disappointed when I opened my box. I ordered the shrimp hibachi with steamed rice. The picture showed noodles so I expected to have shrimp, rice, noodles and vegetables. But I guess that's on me for not clarifying and relying on a picture. The shrimp looks like it was heated over a pan with sauce and isn't giving me 'hibachi' vibes....maybe 'rushed hibachi'. I definitely expected heartier vegetables. It's mostly shredded cabbage, two broccoli stalks and a few bits of shredded carrots. It comes with a side cup of sauce which is very tasty. But I didn't have any soy sauce, chopsticks nor napkins. Again, the taste is decent but leaves a lot more to be desired. And not equal portions of food; way more rice than shrimp/vegetables.

Great local spot for quick yummy Japanese food. Atmosphere is clean and spacious. There is definitely enough room for a large family of 10 and mini couples seating as well. Chicken, fish and shrimp hibachi options as well as individual and signature sushi rolls. I love getting the shrimp bento box since the value $9 is worth it. Shrimp and rice terriyaki style. Crab Rangoon, gyoza, mini Cali roll and ginger salad fills me up! They also carry seaweed salad and miso soup extra side options. If you eat there green tea is a perfect digestive after the meal, I believe it's a roasted rice green tea supa yummy. If you can't get in there delivery is just as fresh. This place has now become my family local spot for our Japanese food cravings.

Chicken hibachi is a bargain dish and nutritious balanced. Basting good. Rice is chewy. Chicken is a bit sweet. Veggies are crispy.

It was really popular that evening, so the three of got squished at the table meant for two, but we didn't mind. The menu is pretty extensive, offering ramen, udon, tonkatsu, rice bowls, grilled fish sets, and more. We ordered pretty quickly, but with how busy it was, it took a bit for the food to come out CHILEAN SEA BASS - 37 As I scanned through, my eyes immediately fell on the miso sea bass. Despite the price point, I knew I had to go for it because sea bass is hard to find around here. This set came with rice, house salad, miso soup, and cold tofu. The sides were pretty standard -- no compliments, but no complaints either. On the other hand, the sea bass was wonderful. Super creamy and soft, with a strong miso sweetness that packed so much umami upon each bite. I would definitely splurge on this set just for the sea bass. My friend got the ramen and didn't love it, so I'll probably avoid that during future visits. The katsu curry that the table next to us ordered looked and smelled amazing. Overall, food was delicious and homey. I'd definitely recommend!

Absolutely floored by the fatty tuna sushi roll. It is on the pricier side, but honestly, I don't think I even minded. We got the katsu and sashimi combo plus some rolls on the side. The katsu was delicious, and the sashimi was super fresh. The combo also came with the cutest little side dishes, really adorable presentation overall. The staff was also incredibly attentive about my friend's allergies (dairy and nuts). They kept checking in with us and even showed us the sauce ingredients to make sure everything was safe. One of the staff members called my friend "kawaii" after hearing her long list of allergies lol, and honestly, that made my day.

I think that the customer service was excellent and the chef had charisma, personality, and should do stand up, he was a pleasure and a joy such a guy with rizz. My issue was the food itself as the rice was amazing but did not age well being taken back home for take out, and the chicken and salmon were not as flavorful as a homemade version I would had cooked so there was the blandness. I ended up having digestive issues and got sick for a day or two after eating from here which was disappointing, because the vibe is awesome in this spot and the positive energy is contagious. I felt so relaxed and joyous here. I think the food can be cooked better even though they are generous with excellent portion sizes. I think it is a strong contender for one of the best restaurants in the region if they step the food preparation up. I also did not like this sauce they provided, but it does have better customer service than the typical DMV spots which tend to struggle with the customer service, so they get an A with that making you feel welcomed and respected and not strictly transactional experience, very warm, nice, attentive, diligent, and hard working staff, so they have the bones here, so once they step up the actual food prep and quality then they will be 4 to 5 stars easily. That is all I got!

We ordered some app, sushi, and a ton of meats. The sushi was so/so the ikura was a bit fishy/not the freshest, but I gave it a pass since it was included in the AYCE. The fried lotus was surprisingly my favorite non meat dish. Our friend rice was served lukewarm (the consistency of rice was a bit uneven like older rice that was left out for a bit) and way too oily so we had to send it back. Had no issues with the meat and service - although it was a tad slow and the 10 minute cooldown between ordering was unexpected. Our server was great and kept checking in with us. A few items we ordered never made it out to us, but at that point we were too full to care. My main complaint was with one of the hosts. We finished our meal and thanked our waiter and made our way back to the parking garage. From behind, we heard a very loud "EXCUSE ME." We originally thought we had dropped something and someone was looking out for us, but was appalled when she followed us halfway across the street and said "you think you're just going to leave without paying for your mocktail?" That was hands down the rudest I've been treated by a customer service based establishment. I've worked in hospitality and know you should never accuse a customer of anything. To make matters worse, she got the wrong people - we never ordered a mocktail. Will likely not return to Gyuzo for a while and stick to other bbq places with better service.

Sushi night in my neck of the woods? Why not?!…read more I'm a huge fan of "hole in the wall" gems, and I think Akagi qualifies for that distinction. What do I mean? Well... It's a place that isn't too big, didn't have a crazy pop, but the food hits just right, every time. It's certainly a gem. Yesterday (Friday night), two friends (one celebrating a bday) and I wanted to get some sushi and keep it pushing. We went to Akagi right up the road and got ordering right away. The service? The staff was so kind and treated us like regulars. Jokes, refills, and the owner personally made us some matcha lattes, that really enhanced our night. The server had a great sense of humor and gave solid recommendations (I got the American dream, imma get it again, too!). Everything was highkey delicious. The ambiance is cool, but I wish more people came through. We didn't have a lot of people close by to sing with us, so I had to show the staff - and half of Rockville - my singing prowess (or lack their of) on the happy bday music. Not the Stevie, if you're wondering. For the bday dessert, we split the tempura cheesecake. It was serious work. Seriously. Not too sweet, but something about the crust being fried with the cheesecake filling just took it over the top. Maaan it was good. The sushi? The sushi?! Fairly priced, big portions, well styled, rocked my socks off with eel sauce. We shared as a table and really just had a ball. Between the service, humor, bday singing, delicious food, and extra attention to detail, this may be a "hole in the wall" fave for years to come. I suggest checking them out and diving head first into the sushi/dessert. Good times/good vibes. Oh and, Happy Bday, Kev!
