We only got to spend 2 awesome nights here before hurricane Michael ran us out of town. :( We loved this condo & our rental manager Krystal was awesome. She text us to check on us & made sure we didn't need anything....we were on the 7th floor in unit 2. At first we were a little confused at all of the codes we had to use (gate code, first door code & second door code as there are 2 doors to go through once on your floor). A few things might need updated or replaced but those were minor. We had everything we needed & enjoyed it very much. We WILL definitely be back. *update Since we had to evacuate Krystal is refunding us for the unused nights. We Definitely have received 5 star service from Krystal. read more

Such mixed feelings about Sandestin. We loved our place. We stayed in tower one of the Lula, on the 12th floor. We rented through AirBnB and loved our place, the beach however was so over crowded it wasn't enjoyable. Miserable even. We purchased chairs and umbrellas only to find out later that anyone can set up in front of you. We did go peak week and will never do that again, however we will search for other options with less crowds. read more

It was my second time in Sandestin Resort - Luau. I really like the complex. The pools are very good, the resort has multiple types of amenities, there are restaurants, golf areas, stores and everything close to the beach. To the ones who like walking, there are plenty areas to keep walking during your stay. The only downside is the beach in front of the complex is very busy. The complex adds their own chairs and umbrellas and occupies most of the area. You can rent them but it is overpriced. A couple will spend around $70 per day on the rental. I prefer to go with my own chairs and umbrellas, but you need to be luck to find a space. The apartment was great, I got a studio. It was very clean, with towels and kitchen items. The air conditioning was a little bit noisy. The view was beautiful from our unit windows. For sure it is a place that I will consider on my next visits in Destin area. read more

Positives: Really nice condo close to the beach, but not right on it. I was really happy with the room. I thought it was really nice, lots of space, comfortable bed, couch to lounge on, good wifi, don't know about TV...didn't even turn it on. Views were really nice. Nice and quiet golf community. Restaurant/bar on beach where you can grab something to eat and drink. Another beach bar on the beach of the property. Several nice pools on the property as well. One in front of the hotel another down by the beach. Beach was really nice and not super packed. Negatives: It is a slight walk to the beach, not on it. So if you are taking a bunch of stuff to the beach you have a little ways to drag stuff. Depending on the time you are there and how many people are there parking may be an issue. Since it is down in San Destin, it is a little hike to get back to everywhere that has decent places to eat, but that wasn't really a deal breaker. I'd stay here again. read more

Just a heads up if your staying soon, the pool is closed. Travel agent we booked thur failed to mention this. So if your coming, and hoping to enjoy the pool area, that's a big no. Property is nice, and clean. Haven't seen any employees, so can't tell you anything about them. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Luau a few weeks ago in early October for a girls weekend. We had 6 people in our party and sleeper comfortably in the two bedroom condo. We had a full kitchen for breakfast and lunch and had an awesome balcony for mornings to read and eat a few meals and enjoy the weather. The beach is a few minute walk but no problem. The check in however is across the highway from the property, but other than that everything was perfect. Looking forward to coming back. read more

I booked a nice suite in building 1, third floor (6310) through realjoy, a third party vacation website. Overall, the experience was very pleasant. There is no apparent welcome desk or concierge presence at all - by design, this building is supposed to be booked, serviced, and managed by third parties like unit owners and vacation sites. If you are helpless in general and need your hand held while you are on vacation, you'll notice a distinct absence of customer service staff here. But this didn't bother me at all, there was always a person present at the pool and a handful of housekeepers mulling around. Laundry in room was a huge bonus, but not all rooms have that. Building is very well kept, as is the landscaping, pool, hallways, garage, lobby, and rooms. Well, at least our room was. Daily entertainment at the pool in the evening was nice. Very low budget entertainers, but much better than nothing. Pool was never over crowded and always clean. Don't bother with the poolside bar. Prices and mixes are not near any adult-acceptable level, but the service there was very friendly. 1/3 mile walk to beach isn't too far for my taste, didn't bother me one bit. It was close enough to not mind walking back to the room for lunch, but far enough that it would be irritating if you forgot to poop before hitting the sand. Every single employee of Sandestin was unusually, exceptionally friendly. Like true masters of customer service. Except for some kid running the bicycle rentals who was quite impatient, unfriendly, and unhelpful.. I think he, too, may have forgotten to poop that day. I would definitely consider returning to the area. A slower, lower key atmosphere like Grayton beach speaks to my soul more closely than a high rise resort. But if I were to return to Sandestin, I would definitely choose the luau, probably even the same unit number. read more

The condo has a fresh, clean look and is literally only a 4-5 minute walk away from the beach! --I was hesitant at first about not being on the beach...but Luau changed that! The rooms were amazing!! We got a 1 bedroom on 9th floor in Luau Tower 2 and there was plenty of space. There was a wraparound balcony with a breathtaking view of the ocean and night sky...the windows were so big from the living room to the bedroom that it was like having a panoramic view! The Luau also boasts having the largest, nicest swimming pool in Sandestin...complete with a waterfall and a Tiki Bar.. Finally, parking was a dream! The garage always had spots available and did not have any issues. Definitely coming back to this place! Plus you save a little by not being directly on beach! read more

What a trip this place is. Why the room was nice, you have to pay for House keeping services, the check in location is at least a mile from the actual hotel which is a real pain in the butt when its pouring and you have no idea where the check in is and or how tram works because you dont have a room key which is needed to ride the tram. The pool is nice and is in walking distance to the beach and the restaurants near the Hilton. The biggest issue I had with this place and Sandestin was when My iPad was left behind in the hotel room. I realized I left my iPad just maybe 30 minutes after we left . After checking into the new hotel and realizing I left it we headed back. What a nightmare dealing with Sandestin Welcome center.... complete nightmare! Not only was the staff complete unwilling to help is track it down, they had the nerve to start treating me like I was a piece of garbage, Could care less about whether or not the issue was being resolved. Basically it wasn't their job to help me. unprofessional to say the least. This kid was down right disrespectful. It took us 3 hours of our own time tracking down the maids in the building because apparently it's not in their job description to help a guest retrieve an item left behind. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BE STAY AT A SANDESTIN RESORT!! You pay out 30 bucks a day in resort fees, No house keeping services provided, Not a helpful staff at all!! Luckily we found a maid on one of the floors who tracked our iPad down in less then 10 minutes, with no help from the front desk. They made no attempts to help the situation. I will be reaching out to managment. The Luau has pro's and con's. First the pro's. Location is nicely located to the beach without the beach front price, just a short walk. Nice size room, clean, comfortable bed. The pool is great size with plenty of room and you don't feel crowded. Nice that they offer covered parking as sun can make car very hot. The grounds are very well kept and nicely maintained. Con's. While the room seemed freshly painted (painters didn't trim well paint on switch plated) in nice beach blue tones it was moderately decorated, lacked the beach ambiance, not really a deal breaker. Bathroom was clean and good size but I felt lacked counter space needed for people traveling with toiletries. There were no full length mirrors in the room. Kitchen seemed sparsely appointed and mix and match not what I expected from a more upscale destination. While the Luau was a Hawaiian vibe the wood paneling in hallways seem a little un-kept or maybe a little dingy. Pool, I know I said it was great but there were a few things that needed attention . The light in the one end of pool is complete loose and practically falling out. Hot tub, only like 2 of the jets worked so not much of a hot tub, that was a disappointment. All in all I would stay at the Luau again but maybe try to find a "Premier" room. read more

Condo named Seventh Sun on the 7th floor through VRBO, owner Belinda. Amazing condo. On the west corner. Balcony view to both the beach and bay/pool/golf course. So close to beach and pool. Two bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, LR, DR. Sleeps 8 easy. No where is there another rental as stocked at this one. You name it, it's here. In the San Destin resort, across from the Hilton. Restaurants, etc there and another restaurant next door on the beach. Close to everything without being in the middle of the congestion of Destin. Belinda goes above and beyond and is the nicest person. Her super power is hospitality. Her cleaning team does a great job; everything spic and span. This is our second stay. Awesome vacation rental!! We had a two bedroom suite for two couples (one couple had a baby too). From the hall, it opened to an entryway that had two doors. One door was to a bedroom that had a bathroom, sitting area, desk, and kitchenette. The other door led to a full living room, dining area, kitchen, another separate bedroom and bathroom, a laundry closet, and a balcony. Our view was pretty great, too. We were about a block from the beach, but high enough to get the view. The building also had a very nice pool with a waterfall, a hot tub, a gym, and an outdoor kitchen. Our only problem was a couple outlets didn't work. Not the end of the world, but that does knock it a star. read more

I am currently staying at the Luau. From the moment we have been here we have had trouble with the plumbing and the TV Four times the toilet has flooded. Each time the maintenance people has said it was repaired. Each time it was not Do NOT stay here. It is a great disappointment. I will never come back. read more

We had a summer vacation planned with family who all have houses on the resort. This was our first time to stay on the property in a condo like the Luau, the many times we've visited before we've stayed in Turnberry, Tivoli and with family, so we were looking forward to being so close to the beach. Upon arrival we realized that the three bedroom condo option was spacious, but it feels like a condo, not cozy like other places we've stayed while in Destin. Some of the appliances either didn't work (TV remote in living room area and toaster) or were impossible to figure out (DVD players), and the wifi was a bit difficult to secure (we had to call someone to come and reset it). It was clean enough (I've never been a fan of hotel-feeling comforters & these were no different), but otherwise the unit was tidy. There were only two elevators for twenty-one floors, so waiting was a common issue. Screaming kids heading down to the pools with their parents, who were also waiting for the elevators early in the morning was also fairly common. The pool was nice. The walk to the beach was nice, and not too far. However, I think the next time we visit Destin we'll likely try and go back to single condo units such as Turnberry and Tivoli, they feel a lot more like a home away from home. read more

Not worth the money, especially whe. They tacked on over $300 when we arrived. Poor set up with split condos that I did not like with our kids and that was not explained that we would be getting this. No employees available for anything and no one answers the phone associated with the condos, have to pay for wifi. I will not ever bother with Sandestin properties again, did not enjoy the stay at all. read more
