I've known the owner, Bob Cannon, for over 43 years now (as of 2021). We were kids when we first…read moremet. I was nine years old back then and he was eight years old I think (that was way back in 1978). We were neighbors for over 15 years. I don't let anyone else work on my car except Lowder's because I know and trust the owner, Bob, and I know that he will ALWAYS do right by me. He hasn't ever tried to pull a fast one on me (or any of my family or friends) like other mechanics do; he does what's actually needed or what I've asked to be done (IF it's legal of course but NOT if it's something illegal like putting a muffler on a vehicle that doesn't have a catalytic converter on it (or other stuff like that), because that's quite illegal!). He does the right thing, he always has that I know of and I've never heard anyone taking bad about him, EVER --- not even in high school. He's just and simply a great and honest man; and you can trust him. Oh! He WON'T give you some triple the price estimate and try to rip you off either, he's not like that at all. I refer people to go to him at Lowder's Automotive every single time someone is talking about having vehicle problems or the need of a good honest mechanic. He runs the office and front counter now and doesn't get under the cars anymore because he has some great people working for him there. He WON'T put up with a dishonest mechanic working in his shop either. I fully know that he would give them the boot too if they ever tried something like that! They work on lots of types of vehicles there and they're certified & licensed. And you can see the legal certifications and licenses posted there if you'd like to. He is an awesome person to know too. Talk with him awhile if you're wanting to know more about him and his business, I'm sure that he will fill you in on anything that you will need to know. He's been working on cars since we were kids. Oh, and BTW, he is still about Mopar too. Js. I'm a Chevy man myself but I don't hold the fact that he's into Mopar against him. LoL! So if you're into Dodge vehicles, especially big trucks, just bring that up and you're sure to have a nice conversation with him. Having used many other mechanical companies both large and small I can without a doubt tell you that every single other shop we have used either overcharge/ up charge erroneously, misdiagnose, or do the minimum possible while promising the highest quality. With Chris being located in paw paw the drive/ tow from Kalamazoo was discouraging, but only initially. Our relationship with Chris has grown to the point of complete confidence and trust. Chris not only knows an astonishing amount about anything from simple repairs all the way to high performance! But most importantly Chris is a genuinely good person who means well and actually cares about the well being of his customers! Not only that Chris is a local Firefighter, which in my opinion is one of the most selfless things a person can do. I took my 2024 Kia Telluride to this shop owned/ran by Donnie Best…read more Reason I decided to try it out, was told by a Corvette owner this shop would do oil changes for ~$20 with Customer provided oil & filter. My CarFax schedule (for 10 year warranty) required oil/filter change, tire rotation and brake inspection. With my oil/filter - the total cost was ~$37. Oil change itself was $15. I had an appointment for 8:00a, they got it in 5-8 mins after I arrived, they had 4 people work on it in tag team style, they were done no more than 20 mins later. I was allowed to watch them as the drive on ramp/lift was right next to the observation room. They did everything including a full multipoint inspection. I was so impressed I gave them a $20 tip for their 'Christmas/coffee/donut' can and was out of there by 8:30. Two days later my CarFax record had been updated by them. Thoroughly impressed, will definitely be back, will bring all my cars there going forward, except one. Only bummer, the reason I contacted them in the 1st place was to have a place to take my Corvette for oil changes. They said they really don't do that anymore, only for one Vette owner as he's been a long-time customer. Not sure for reluctance as they have the drive on ramp lift as well as multiple 4-point lifts, I have 4-point jack pads affixed on the belly pan of Vette at factory lift points. I wasn't going to press them but will still need to find an economical place to do the Vette. If you are in the area, have them work on your vehicle.
