I regret I can't give them six or seven stars. I regret we didn't stumble on Furr's earlier (because in our youth we did run into a couple of other car repair businesses in town that took advantage of our inexperience and naivete). But I don't regret the entirely selfish hope that the owner - who is getting on in years - lives and works 'til he is 150 so we don't ever have to look for a new repair shop.

The scheduling folks were great and were able to get me in quickly, I was able to get it in and back the same day with an in-depth analysis of the problems as well as a quick fix to shore up some of the service issues in less than an hour. The service tech was fantastic, and the prices were far better than I had expected. I will definitely be taking my car here if it has any issues in the future.

Upon further inspection, Bob discovered that I had fallen victim to the Ford 4.0 v-6 dreaded timing chain slack adjuster failure. We talked it over and I decided to go ahead with the repairs. Bob did what appears to be a fantastic job. Everything is clean and looks brand new under the hood. The quality of the parts that he used are factory grade or better, and so far everything is running like new. I hope to be able to keep this truck another 1000k miles. I would not hesitate to take my truck back or recommend to friends and family that they should take their vehicles to Mr. Pro. I need an auto shop I can trust because I'm not enough of a gear-head to answer my own questions. Twice recently I've walked in talking like any crooked mechanic's ideal chump customer: no idea what's wrong, but ready to pay to fix it. Example 1: A year ago I brought my trusty old rust-bucket of a car in for a noisy exhaust. Nobody would've blamed them for simply doing the work I asked, but they did even better. They started with an inspection of the vehicle, and found a number of issues more serious than a mere noise problem. After checking with me, they started tallying up an estimate. Their official diagnosis: they *could* do a couple thousand dollars of repairs for me, but said I'd be wiser to save that money and put it toward buying a new car. Charge: $0. Example 2: Monday I hit a whopper of a pot-hole in my aforementioned new car. It blew out my tire, and bottomed-out my vehicle enough to dent the bumper. After getting the tire fixed the car felt fine, but I brought it to Muffler Man for an inspection, just to be sure the impact didn't cause any trouble. Their official diagnosis: no problems, nothing to fix. Charge: $0. I genuinely believe the folks who operate and run this shop would rather have a reputation for honesty than to have ill-gotten money. That's better than value -- that's values. That's why Muffler Man is my mechanic.

The family of my childhood went to the latter. Before Wisser's expanded, he had gas pumps, so we bought our gas and got our car repairs there. Now, with more than double the bays, Wisser's is where my mother still gets her cars serviced. Rick and Jill own and run the repair shop. Rick's father, Dick, was the face of the business when I was a young driver, and I was conflicted about him. An excellent auto mechanic, he presented as a no nonsense man of few words, so I was scared to death of him. Rick is his equal as a mechanic and much less taciturn. His wife, Jill, handles the books. (As a side note, as of today's date, there are 4 earlier reviews that Yelp's algorithm has seen to exclude - see below - and they are worth reading.)
