As a former employee of Luby's (not this one) I thought it would be great to stop by and grab a hearty meal, instead, I did not finish half my meal. The person in the drivethru was nice and friendly, but whoever prepared our drive thru order, did not care to serve fresh food. Will not return. OMG! I will literally NEVER EVER EVER eat here again! I legit got sooo damn sick a few nights ago after eating the turkey and dressing plate with macaroni & cheese and yams. I got my boyfriend a plate too but he didn't touch his thank goodness! I have never been so sick in my life. I was on the toilet with explosive diarrhea from 11pm that night all throughout the next day. I was literally in tears because my stomach hurt so bad. Trust me, I'm no hater of this Lubys. This is actually the only one I ever go too because it was my very first job and I've never gotten sick before. I don't know what's going on there but for me to have gotten food poisoning like that, just means they're flat out not being hygienic and when you think about it, it's pretty repulsive. I recommend everything it's all good !! I don't like the service though and sometimes the portions are not right .. When my daughter and son-in-law offered to treat me and my wife for brunch to celebrate my birthday, we settled on Luby's. We were motivated to do this in part because my three grandsons would join us. We didn't realize how blessed that decision would be. The food was great tasting and plentiful. The variety allowed everyone to satisfy their own preferences and sample others. The room was open, fresh, and there was no pressure to turn the table so the wait staff could improve their tip income. And OMG the apple pie was the best to pass my lips in years. Our waitress was attentive, authentic, personable. PS, she earned a very nice tip. We will return soon. read more

I just got out of bmt and this was a surprisingly similar experience to the cafeteria on base but the quality of food was way better. It's like a dennys with a cafeteria style set up, I accidentally got enchiladas and thought I'd regret it but it was surprisingly good. read more

I have never had a bad experience until today. Usually the food is great. However, today I purchased the ckn fried steak (luann platter) with green beans and mash potatoes. The potatoes were EXTREMELY SALTY...i took a bite and thought at first it must have been the gravy...but on the second bite without gravy on it ...yeah they were salty...I had my husband flag down our waiter and let him know. Then he confirmed with the manager that the batch I was given was in fact SALTY. They made a new batch. I asked the waiter to ask the manager if he could swap out the mashed potatoes I had gotten for a sugar free dessert. He then told me that the manager would not agree to that since the desserts are like 4 to 5 dollars each. He came back and let me know that the manager would not allow it, but would give me an order of the new batch of mashed potatoes. I was already done with my meal....I spend a total of 27.00 at this establishment. The least they could of done was give me a credit or a damn free dessert. They didn't want to give a credit either. I do not recommend this place for POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Not going back to this place ever. Poor customer service if you ask me. If they cannot keep their patrons happy. This is not a bad place to eat, if you love salt. All the food is salty. You carry your own tray to a table and take your check to the register before you exit the door. While you are trying to enjoy your meal in peace after you have wrestled it to the table attendants constantly come around and interrupt your meal asking you if you want something to drink. The drink decision is made at the register while you go thru the line, begore you get to a table. This is not something bad to offer, but once you have already declined you are not eager to have someone interrupt your meal with your husband again before you take the next bite and with respect to we only have one hour to enjoy lunch, study, and to be left alone. They have daily lunch and dinner specials. We had the steak and shrimp one and it wasn't too bad. Skip the enchilada one. It's salty and wet. Yuck! read more

I hate to leave such a negative review, but I have never experienced such terrible service as I did at this Luby's location. For years, this location has always seen a large influx of diners around the time churches dismiss on Sunday afternoons. Somehow, they still fail to staff appropriately for this lunch rush. On my most recent visit, I called three times to place a to go order, to no avail. I proceeded to the restaurant and the to go line was out the door. Since they have a drive thru, I decided to give it a try. At first it was moving relatively decently, but next thing I knew, I had been in line 30 minutes and was trapped in due to other cars behind me. After an hour and 10 minutes, I finally placed and received my order. The piece of pie I ordered for my mother had a long hair right on top. The gallon of tea I ordered was unsweetened as opposed to sweet tea, which I ordered. The temperature of my macaroni and cheese felt as if it was just removed from a refrigerator. Finally, when I had eaten half of my fish, a piece of trash was hidden beneath the half I hadn't yet eaten. It looked like the wrapper that is placed around the napkins that hold silverware in the restaurant. I have never been so disgusted or disappointed in any restaurant, ever before. read more

Luby's is a Cafeteria style restaurant. It's actually gotten better over the years. This one was a little slow but I guess its not made for speedy service since they cater more to the older crowds. Never the less it was still a good meal. I had Chicken Fried Steak, Okra, and Broccoli and Cheese Casserole. They have always had the best Okra to me. I actually like Luby's especially when I want a good old fashioned lunch or dinner and don't feel like messing up my kitchen to get it. This trip was actually for breakfast which you cannot beat, all you can eat. Waffles, pancakes, french toast, regular toast, grits, oatmeal, 3 kinds of eggs, 2 types of potatoes, sausage and bacon. All this to choose from for only $5.49 it's a real steal and tasty too boot. Coffee and juice are extra but they are both refillable for no additional charge. The only negative is they advertise free WiFi well it's very week especially if you are using a tablet. Other than that i'll be back I just know to go to Starbucks for WiFi. read more

This Luby's was clean and the service was friendly and helpful. We were happy to find that kids eat free on Saturdays at this location. The kids meals at Luby's are heartier than most. Our food was good except for way too much better on the cabbage and green beans. The rest of the food was really tasty and the servers seemed to really care about their customers. read more

The only thing that kept me from dropping this to a single star was the service we received after we ordered. The food itself was delicious. I have zero issues with the quality of that. Everything wrong here is with the service. First, there were no prices on any of the entrees, so we didn't know what we would be spending until after we got to the register. Then, what was supposed to be a five minute wait for fresh liver and onions turned into nearly ten. Once we got to the drinks, there were no cups Available and nobody knew until we told the employee at the bread station. The employees that we're serving us our entrees and sides seemed entirely uninterested in even faking that they enjoyed being here. By the time we got to our table, we had resolved to never return to this location. The only saving grace was the server in the dining area, Felix. He seemed to be the only one other than the gentleman at the bread station who wanted to make sure his job was getting done and that customers were being taken care of. Luby's I eat here daily for lunch. I get the child's plate, it comes with jello. Now lets talk about the jello. It smells like it has either freezer burn and or the freezer isnt clean. It smells spoiled and or old. I have complained several times and the manager is so defensive. He doesnt like customers. Nothing has been done. so when i order my meal, I omit the jello and move on. Complaining to the manager does nothing. Drive thru is slow. You can call ahead and we still end up waiting. read more

This was such a disappointing visit to this location. We come here the Sunday after Christmas and Thanksgiving every year to have Breakfast as a Family. It's a tradition we love and the food and service has always been wonderful. However, the line staff was disrespectful, to say the least. Not only was the server rude to the people in front of me, but while she was serving me she was still yelling down the line at the gentleman who she had been so disrespectful to, rather than focusing on serving the person in front of her. When a manager was requested, the manager never came. Half way through breakfast he manager was requested again and still never responded. We were at the location for over an hour as we had a 16 person party and the manager never responded. The waiter at our table, Malcolm, was very respectful and helpful and the grits were delicious as usual, but the first impression is everything: and the fact that a manager never responded to a customer request is appalling. read more

This was the WORST display of cafeteria line serving that I have ever experienced! Some of the servers were handling food & money w/out wearing gloves, reaching all over each other, dropping food into the other food on the line! One server made a salad to go & picked the onions off, shook them, & put them back in the serving line to be given to someone else! Servers were breaking chicken qtrs over other food & juice was splashing into the other food! When we inquired about the lack of gloves when serving food, the server said "I don't have to wear gloves I'm serving the drive-thru!" When we spoke to the manager, the server came up WITH ATTITUDE saying, "Yeah it was me, I told them I handle money & food w/out gloves!" With her hand pushed out toward us as if to say "Talk to the hand". He very timidly instructed her to put on gloves. After seeing all the unsanitary practices that took place in a matter of minutes, I shudder to think what I didn't see that goes on in the kitchen! I went through the line and placed a to-go order for 2 Chicken Fried Steak Combos, one with mashed potatoes. I told the male who was making my first plate that I wanted brown gravy for the potatoes and white for the chicken fried steak. He ignored me. Then another male came and started making my second plate with no gloves, he actually asked me if I wanted gravy and I told him the same thing. I paid and went to my car. I realized I didn't actually see anyone putting gravy on my food. So I checked and sure enough there was no gravy on either plate. So I had to get out of my car and go back inside. Since a line was forming I went to the register and told the cashier I had just paid, that I asked 2 different people for gravy and did not get any. She told me to go back through the line. I do not feel I should have had to go back through the line. She could have gotten the gravy and sent me on my way. Or better yet, I could have received it when I asked for it at the time of the order. I went back through the line and got my gravy, not one time did anyone say we apologize or sorry about that nothing. There seemed to be a lack of professionalism or customer service at this location. My food wasn't good enough to ever consider going back. This could be due to the bad taste the employees put in my mouth. I am disappointed because I used to like Luby's. read more

The food is good but is pricey. Service has problems. Recently, in two consecutive weeks, they messed up my To-Go lunch orders. My order is supposed to come with one meat, 2 sides, and a bread ... the standard. Twice, they came with ONE side (1 meat, one side, one bread), and one time it came with no bread (1 meat, one side, no bread). Both times when this happened, there was the presence of the male black young manager. I'm not accusing that he intentionally short-filled my order, I'm just stating facts. read more
