My friends and I were in Fort Worth for a little weekend fun and after driving in and checking into our hotel, we sought out food and drinks. Yelp brought us here. Gustos Burgers N Stuff is basically a house turned restaurant and bar. You literally walk through the front door and walk through rooms. They also have a nice backyard turned into a large patio. Customer service was great. You order at the counter and when your food is ready they'll bring it out to you. The food menu is pretty small and simple. They have one starter which are the jalapeno poppers. It's your standard popper but they elevate it by glazing it with salted brown sugar honey butter. It is really good. I'm usually not big on sweet and savory combos but this works and packs just the right amount of heat. Burgers is their game. Smash burgers to be exact and the best variety in my opinion. They have 4 meat options as well as an Impossible Burger option. They come in single, double or triple meat and the price varies according to what you pick. First time here so I had to go with just a regular smash burger which is the Gusto Burger. I can't remember if I went double or triple, but either choice is good as one thin patty is never the move with a smash burger. It comes with American cheese (the only right cheese for burgers), caramelized onions, their house sauce and pickles. It comes on a buttered toasted bun which held up nicely to all the toppings. This burger was outstanding. I would put it up there as one of the best smash burgers I've had. Everyone in our party agreed. I went with tots for my side and it was a very generous portion that was cooked to perfection and seasoned nicely. I washed it down with a local beer from their nice selection of draft beers. They also have a nice variety of bottled drinks as well as cocktails. I am glad we randomly found this spot in Fort Worth because it was a solid spot to quench our thirst and fill our bellies. Truth bomb of a review coming right up- Super cute dive bar vibe hipster place. Right by TCU so it's obviously the place to go for a good smash burger that is reasonably priced for what it is. Service is kind and we got our food fast enough. The tables turn quickly but they basically have no time to wipe them down. I always love the Maine root soda selection. The smash burger is absolutely soaked in grease. That's even with two patties! As someone who loves a good smash burger more than a gourmet burger, I couldn't even finish it and felt a lil queasy. And I eat everything. The tater tots felt just as unhealthy and oily. It definitely feels like a place to use burgers to soak up the booze. Perfect if you're in college and when your metabolism can handle anything. If not, I'd recommend skipping it. read more

We have finally had a chance to visit here. We've been hearing good things about it. First off, smash burgers is one of our favorite. Theirs are something you want to comeback to. Very flavorful, and on the juicier (greasy) side which is what you expect from real good smash burgers. It has higher fat content to create that crispy but juicy texture. The perfect contrast after a night of drinking or if you just simply enjoy this type of burger. This place is a counter order service then they'll bring the burger to you. The only thing I didn't like about this visit was the fountain sodas that they carry. For some reason I never liked the off brands kinds. Great burger. It was our first time here. We didn't know what to expect. Definitely a bar with a bar vibe. Lots of younger folks having a nice time. You order food and drinks at the bar. Us two older folks ordered beers, burgers and tots. You pay at the bar upon ordering. They accept cash and credit card and support tap to pay. You're given an order number tent to place on your table. The food took about 10 minutes to make and was delivered to our table. The food was served hot. The Tater tots were lightly seasoned with pepper and maybe some salt. Ketchup bottles and napkins were on the table. The burgers were great! Definitely no lean ground beef. The patties are made smash-burger style. Flattish and crispy. Our cheeseburgers had 2 patties, I think 2 slices of American cheese, pickles and ketchup. Mustard is also put on them but we asked for it to be left off. I was told they cook the burgers in mustard. I found that interesting, though I picked up no mustard taste. While the music wasn't loud, there was a speaker pointed at nearly every table. We chose a round table near the bar as there was no speaker there. Overall the Gusto burger gave exactly what it should! Seasoned well & greasy, it absolutely did not disappoint. The tator tots were perfect, crispy & crunchy & full of potato, not hallow. This is a formal complaint, since eating here every burger has let me down. There's nothing I dream about more than Gusto's burgers. Smash burgers in Texas is obviously a thing, but I don't think Gusto's can be beat. I don't think there's a single burger on the menu you could go wrong with. It's a must to put this at the top of your late night eateries list. Your friends will thank you for not only feeding them late at night, but taking them to this specific spot. Man! I've heard about this place for a while now--everyone raving about how good it is--but since I'm not the biggest fan of smash burgers, I'd been hesitant to try it. We happened to be nearby on a random Wednesday after running an errand, and Gusto's was one of the few spots along 7th Street still serving food late. To my surprise and delight, we walked up to find a DJ spinning house music on the patio. My high school heart instantly started dancing. There's plenty of outdoor seating, and if music's not your thing, there are quieter spots to escape the noise. When you step inside, you're greeted by an entry area that leads to the bar--this is also where you place your order. The menu has a variety of burger options, but I kept it simple with the classic cheeseburger. Let me tell you: it was perfectly smashed, with crispy--not burnt--edges that somehow melt in your mouth. I don't know how they do it, but the texture and flavor are on point. The cheese is ooey-gooey, the bun is soft and buttery, and you get a choice of tots or fries. Pro tip: go with the tots. If you're not hiding under a social media rock you'll have heard of Gustos Ft. Worth. Visually stunning food. I've been following online since this was just burgers being sold out of a van. I'm out in Dallas and watched with envy every post that was shared of these amazing smash burgers I wasn't close enough to try. Today I was at an event in Hurst and saw I was just a short 15 minute drive from Gustos. I made my way on over with the family ASAP. The area is very pleasant. Clean streets and friendly atmosphere all around the immediate area. Parking area was very accommodating for a late Sunday afternoon. Placed my order at the counter. The bacon burger was outstanding. Extremely flavorful. Got it the way it came. The gusto fries were really great. The onions were great. I sat at the bar and was greeted by Alexa who took great care of me throughout my visit. Typically you order at the bar cash register, get a number and seat yourself in one of the rooms or on the patio. My Smashburger was delicious except the bun needed to be toasted and I learned that is something that you need to request; personally I think it should be served toasted. I stumbled onto Gustos Burger Bar + More back in October when they were spotlighted in Texas Highways' roundup up of "50 Texas Burgers Worth the Drive". I love a good smash burger and they seemed to fit the bill. What started as a pop-up gig (with a near death food truck detour) has now planted roots in a small white frame house at the corner of 7th and Magnolia in Fort Worth's Near Southside neighborhood. This humble place is cranking out some serious burger heat. We rolled in late one night after the wife finished a photo shoot nearby; I ordered the Gusto Burger - a double patty situation with all the sizzle. Thin, flat patties with crispy, lacy edges made it a textbook smash. Seasoned with mustard and pepper, layered with caramelized onions, pickles, and an extra hit of mustard - it was a full-flavor punch to the taste buds. She had the Backyard Burger, which is essentially the same setup but stacked high with all the veggies. Same great flavor just a little more garden party. The fries are hand-cut daily and fried to golden, salty perfection. But if you're the type to go all out, then you gotta check out the loaded tots--they look like an entire meal disguised as a side dish. Bottom line: Gustos lives up to all the hype. Now, if you're gonna charge me a Hundo for 3 burgers, fries, an app, and two beers, I'd like at least to get Chinette paper goods. The bare minimum paper goods are more wasteful than good. Gustos holds a very special place in my heart. It occupies a space on Magnolia that has been through several of my favorite businesses, but this one is easily the best. There's an edgy, punk feel to the ambiance, something you don't get with new restaurants. This might put off some more traditional people but to me, there's such a special edge as all of the art and decoration come from local artists. But that's just the tip, because the burger is hands down the best smash burger in DFW. I've tried a lot of burger places and there's no doubt in my mind that Gusto's makes the bets burger in town. It's greasy, it's so incredibly flavorful, and most importantly, it's an actual smash burger. There's history in this burger, an improvement in a long line of burger smashers before. As I continue exploring what's new in the DFW food scene, I stumbled upon a local smash burger spot in Fort Worth. I quickly glanced at a few photos on Yelp--obviously not closely enough--because what I thought I saw and what I was served were two very different things. I ordered the Backyard Burger with cheesy tots since they were sold out of fries. Ugh... I should have left then, but I was hungrier than a little kid who'd been playing outside all day. I requested no bacon, but I was told, "No substitutions." I thought to myself, "What?" I didn't want to substitute anything--I just wanted to remove an item. With the music blasting and a growing line behind me, I didn't have the energy to explain the obvious. I simply removed the bacon once my burger arrived. I will say everything was seasoned, but the presentation and assembly were a disaster. The bun-to-meat ratio was completely off, and the lettuce was chopped instead of whole leaves, making it difficult for the patties and tomatoes to stay in place. I finally gave up and ate the patties without the greasy buns. And don't even get me started on those god-awful tots--the semi-melted cheese ruined the entire dish. This meal felt like something I would've eaten during my college days. It was giving low-budget vibes for sure, but the price was NOT.
