There is a waitress there named Celeste that is one of the rudest waitresses I have ever encountered. She literally cussed me out after I asked why I have not been served a beverage. I honestly think it is the most offensive moments I've had at a restaurant. I was a regular but the new management does not care how the employees treat the customers. This was our first time at the restaurant. It has the neighborhood pub feel, which we find comfortable. The menu was great and service was excellent. Our server, Attycen S. was especially helpful in helping us make our selections. My wife had the shrimp basket, with crispy butterflied shrimp and great fries. I had the chimichurri steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables. They were out of flank steak, so they gave me a sirloin for the same price. Everything was delicious. Very yummy chocolate martini! The server was amazing and great service. We also tried the chicken nachos and enjoyed them. I think this is a fun dive bar vibe to visit. It's near the campus and has TCU themed drinks. I think the prices are reasonable here! read more

So I'm not in college nor did I go to TCU however I love the area... this place has the absolute best crawfish and they let you get mushrooms instead of the other sides. So I'm all in. The flavor is the best. Hot and juicy!! I've been a few times. Always have great service and all the hellos and goodbyes. The crowd is often entertaining just because the college kids start having all the fun. I love seeing them enjoy themselves, make the atmosphere of the place even better!! My chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, country gravy, and grilled vegetables was wonderful. My two friends each ordered the loaded baked potato and one order was cold--the other friend's was perfect. The waitress brought the one friend an entirely new baked potato. I highly recommend. If you are a Tcu student do not come here. I have never felt so disrespected as I did tonight. My friends and I showed up after the senior bar crawl sober mind you, for a drink and entree. We immediately met with a sassy hostess who clearly did not want to seat us. Before we even asked about entry she told us it would be a 30 minute wait although there were multiple tables inside and outside. She then took it upon herself to deny us our skinny margaritas despite being over the age of 21. Very unfortunate considering the Tuesday/Thursday staff is so wonderful. For $22 I got this shrimp broil with lackluster flavor and undercooked broccoli. you'd think they would pile that sucker with the good stuff but instead I was given two potatoes and only half a corn. A sausage and a generous amount of shrimp. Bad thing is the sausage was bland the shrimp wasn't clean. It still had its poop attached when removing the shell. I ended up tossing the rest in the trash because it didn't have any sauce it was just sprinkled with seasoning and it came with butter and cocktail sauce. read more

We've been coming to this restaurant for several years now and always been more than satisfied with the food and service. We were surprised to find out on our latest visit, that this restaurant is now under new ownership. Pretty much the same menu however. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon so we sat outside on their patio. Unfortunately, we were not as satisfied on this visit. The food was definitely not as good as in the past and the service was pretty sad. Unfortunately, they did not have near enough servers, based on the crowd, and the beautiful weather. They were trying but unfortunately not succeeding. We waited a long time to get our food, which as previously mentioned was not as good. Tables were not being bused so people were sitting at dirty tables. Simply not a good atmosphere and I doubt we will be back for quite sometime. read more

I am a huge crawfish person, and it's hard to impress me, but these were okay! They weren't bad! The heads still weren't juicy enough for me but like I said I'm a hard sell. What I REALLY enjoyed was the spicy corn nuggets! Omg I didn't know I needed those in my life but I so did. Our waitress was really friendly and efficient as well. This is a great bar and grill with one of the most expansive menus I have ever seen. If you cannot find something you like at the Purple Frog, then you are not hungry. It is a bar and grill, so we are not talking about high-end exceptional cuisine, but every item we have had there has been delicious. It is also a very good value.
