This place had been on my list for roughly 3 years. The owner sat at my bar on a random Tuesday awhile back and we got to talking about his spot. Long time chef up in Philly, I had a good feeling he knew what he was doing. Ironically, ever since that day, I would hear people raving about Lucas. That's when I knew I had to go see what's up. My Fiancé and I reserved a pie yesterday for 3:45, kept it simple for as I always do when eating at a joint for the first time - really shows if a place can execute the simple things. Which in this case, they hit it out of the park. We sat in the car in the parking lot instead of waiting 30 mins until we got home, because I really wanted to try it fresh out of the oven. I devoured 4 slices in a matter of 15 mins. This is the best traditional pizza oven pizza I've had in Delaware, and I moved here in '06. As my Fiancé and I were feeling like we were in heaven enjoying the pie, I told her they have sandwiches as well, one of which was a Chx Caesar sub - our favorite. She insisted we get one for later, of course I agreed. I called back in and ordered it, was ready in 10 minutes. When I was handed the sandwich wrapped up, i already knew it was gonna be a hit. Thing was massive. We made it home and had our way with this sandwich. Which from the picture looks a bit messy, but it was very easy to eat and stayed together. Was delicious. This place was well worth the anticipation and excitement, they certainly delivered and we will be back to try the Tito's (Vodka Pie) and Cheesesteak. Very difficult to get a pizza from here. First night we tried to order at 530pm and was told they wouldn't be able to fulfill a pizza prior to close at 8pm. Visited for the first time after seeing all the good reviews. Ordered the Italian Sub and the vodka Sauce pie. Very busy place so if ordering order early. We ate in, they have a few tables and serve bottled beverages. They do not have ice for the beverages. Seats were comfortable and after a short wait our food order came out. The Italian sub was really good with the Italian meats and EVVO garnish. They had Mortadella on it which I love. They use Liscios bread. The pizza was cooked very well, the crust was crispy and airy very tasty. However the toppings had a bite to them which we later found out was the Vodka sauce? The pancetta was crispy and spinach ok. In my opinion it could have used some more cheese. The pizza price was $28.50, a bit steep even for the resort area. This was only my 2nd time there since they 1st opened. I'm glad I went on this particular Saturday as they were having a daily special of several sandwiches so I bought 1 cheesesteak on a seeded roll along with a chicken cheesesteak. Both were fantastic & I'm hoping to be able to someday see these sandwiches apart of their permanent menu as I'm a fan of a true philly style cheesesteak done right & they for sure have it figured out after taking my 1st bite. Even though Selbyville is mostly known for seafood restaurants, I was in the mood for some pizza. With that known, Luca's seemed like the best bet. Having said that, I ordered a pepperoni pizza and I was surprised by how good it was. To put into perspective, this was really good New York style pizza. To explain, the crust was thin, crispy, and had nice flavor. In addition, the cheese was flavorful with just the right amount of grease. Furthermore, the sauce tasted homemade and had great taste. On a Saturday night off-season we felt like pizza, so ordered one from Luca's. We were told it would be ready in one hour. I showed up one hour later and only after paying for it, did I see it being made & going into the oven. I asked the cashier if waiting an hour off-season was typical, and she said yes and it would only get worse once the season gets busier. She suggested calling in the middle of the afternoon to request a food pick-up at 6 o'clock, for example. I'll keep that in mind, but sometimes a pizza craving only hits closer to dinner time. So, after an hour and 15 minutes, my pizza is finally ready. I wish I took a picture of how unevenly it was sliced, but that has nothing to do with the taste. It was decent, that's the only word that comes to mind. Even though we ordered a large, it must have been on the smaller side; when the three of us share a pizza, we always have leftovers. But not with this one. Would I return? Maybe. They make a roast pork and broccoli rabe sandwich I've been wanting to try. If I remember to order dinner in the middle of the afternoon, I might give it a try. But for any dinner-time pizza cravings, I'll return to Caruso's who managed to fill orders quickly and make a delicious pie. read more

I'm from Philly. This is the best chicken cheesesteak I've ever had in Southern DE. Good, hot, crispy shoestring fries (no coating or seasoning--yay!). Their menu seems to tweak things to use better ingredients (e.g., my cheesesteak was made with Cooper cheese). No fountain, so you have to buy individual sodas from their fridge. I made it back last week to try the Luca's Cheesesteak--Top 5 cheesesteaks I've ever had and by far the best at the beach from Rehoboth to Ocean City (MD). Cooper sharp, roasted long hots, fried onions, and mushrooms on a seeded Liscio's (I did have to take off the long hots as they were too hot for me). I still love Pomodoro but since they only offer pizza, Luca's is worth the extra 10 minutes from Bethany. read more
