We stopped here on the way home from Ocean City Maryland about a week ago for breakfast before our 3 Hour drive we had originally stopped at an IHOP right up the street and they had said their air-conditioning unit was down. There was a wait time to be seated, etc. etc. it was a little disappointing, but we did not stay. Thankfully we found this little gem. The food was outstanding the best creamed chip beef I have ever had in my life you could taste the homemade in it. Breakfast was phenomenal here and I plan on making another stop on my way up to Ocean City next time. Customer service was great. They do treat you like family.!!! so thank you IHOP for being a disappointment because now I will always stop here for breakfast if I make the trip to the ocean!!! A great little place right on the MD DE line. Can easily drive right by it. The menu has plenty of choices. Breakfast was outstanding! Prices were reasonable, and we had generous portions. WE went back for lunch and it was just as good. Staff was super friendly and welcoming, While there, we noticed they have a big following for carry out orders as well. I have to say their food is really good, although I haven't explored their entire menu. I can tell you their coconut shrimp platter is incredible. I've only been disappointed, maybe three out of eight times as the shrimp were oily, which in my opinion means that the oil was not hot enough.. But I can say the shrimp are huge a great price and you get two sides! I hope they see this review and Maybe up the oil heat a little bit higher so the shrimp isn't soggy with oil. Tried this little place on a Tuesday morning for late breakfast. They were doing a brisk business. Two of us ordered breakfast burritos with egg, choice of cheese and choice of meat. They add home fries to the burrito too; you can get more on the side or you can get two hashbrown patties. HB were deep fried and crispy! The burritos came with a side of salsa and sour cream, but they desperately needed salt and pepper as well. My husband got a corned beef omelette. For what it's worth, the corned beef was mixed into the egg versus being stuffed inside. He said it was good enough. He had a side of grits which were very soupy. We had to flag down our server for coffee refills, but otherwise no complaints there. Simple little restaurant, seemed clean. Not sure I'd be interested in returning for lunch or dinner. read more

Service was great! Our waitress was hustling but she was on top of it. She gave us some great recommendations - not being a local, we trusted her and I'm so glad we did! Crab balls and fried mushrooms for appetizer and they were both great! Coconut shrimp were HUGE and so good. The pizza though this is where they shine. It's always a treat to be pleasantly surprised by finding delicious pizza when outside of NJ or NY. Even better when there's an expansive menu to appeal to a group with different tastes. Further impressive still, is friendly service staff that don't blink twice at the hungry toddler with the attitude problem. I ordered a chicken cheesesteak wrap with fries. The food came out after a reasonable period. My wife loved her vegetable soup and said she could tell by the way the vegetables were sliced that it wasn't from a can. She asked the server if the soup is homemade, and she replied that everything they serve is homemade. Sandwiches came out and they were delicious! The meat in my chicken cheesesteak wasn't chopped up frozen chicken plates, but actual cut-up chunks of well-cooked chicken breast. They made the sandwich with the right amount of toppings I requested. The fries seemed like they were handcut, not frozen. My wife loved her "Rachel" sandwich and also the kettle chips that came with it. She said they tasted fresh, but we didn't ask. Pros: --the food - freshly made, generous portions, and reasonable prices. --the service - quick, friendly and responsive. What happened? Breakfast was so good here for a long time. Then the grits started to be lukewarm or cold. The sausage that was moist and hot became overcooked and dry. A bright note is the wait staff. Always friendly. On my last visit they were crowded and there was only one server. I have passed this place dozens of times without ever knowing it. It's literally right over the Maryland/Delaware line as you get into Selbyville. I visited on a weekday morning recently for breakfast. There is one very nice lady who is both the hostess and only server. It's a small place with some tables and a few booths. I ordered the country fried steak with gravy, home fries, and eggs over easy, along with coffee and water. There were one or two other couples there but the server was very sweet and attentive. The food was hot, tasty, and spot-on for breakfast. And $11.99 includes coffee, and of course no tax! Wow, in this economy? I saw a lot of people coming in for takeout so it must be popular with the locals, even on a weekday morning. Went for Father's Day breakfast, wait for the food was a bit long but they were busy. Food was excellent. My wife said her creamed chip beef was some of the best she's had. I had an omelet with a side of scrapple. I generally don't care for deep fried scrapple but these guys cooked some of the best deep fried scrapple I've ever had, cut thick and super crunchy on the outside. My veggie omelet and home fries were tasty as well. My son enjoyed his breakfast burrito and hash browns, the burrito looked well stuffed. Great portions, you will not leave hungry!( wish I had taken photos). The prices for what you get are hard to beat in this area, very reasonable. It's a small restaurant and can a be little noisy when they're busy but doesn't bother me. Will definitely be back to this restaurant in the future. read more

Want to give zero stars. We have newly moved to Selbyville. We stopped in this morning 8/23/25 for breakfast/lunch since we heard good things about this place. We walked in and received a "death stare" from the other patrons. Literally, everyone stopped and stared us down. A busy server asked us if we were picking up or dining in. We told we dining in and she told us to grab a seat anywhere. We sat at the only semi clean table in the dining area. We waited about 10 minutes before another server acknowledged us. She came over with three menus and said "Oh you must have snucked in here." She said "I'll be back to take your drink order". Another 10 minutes before the initial server came past us and said "did anyone get your drink order?" We told her no. She told the second server to go and get our drink orders. That person said that's not my table. She was then told by the first server to take our order. We waited almost 10 more minutes while she chatted at another table and no one came over. So we walked out. There were only five other tables occupied in the place and 2 servers. We didn't have any food but because of this experience, we never will. Do better! read more

On The Way Cafe was a very good surprise. Fairly easy to find right off of 113, east side, just inside the Delaware line in Selbyville. The service was quick, friendly and attentive. I had the On The Way paste which is an Alfredo dish with crab, shrimp and scallops. Lots of seafood and a solid Alfredo sauce. When I saw that the 3 reviews for this place were all 5 star, I was suspicious. Plus, I am always suspicious of a place that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. But today's lunch proved that wrong-we are fans! First, I decide how many stars to give based on type. In other words, both a dive bar and a Michelin rated restaurant can be 5 star, in my opinion. I am just looking for the best in whatever category an establishment is. This is not a place for the trendy beautiful crowd. In fact, we were the youngest in the crowded room and we are no spring chickens. But older people have a way of appreciating quality and value. And "On The Way Cafe" offers both. The host was very welcoming and service was immediate. Our waiter was friendly, funny, and very helpful. I had lots of questions. (I wish I got his name) We started with the Mango Habanero wings-very good! They were crispy but still juicy inside and came with a flavorful Blue Cheese sauce and celery. I ordered the Chicken Parm. It came with Spaghetti, garlic bread, and a choice of 2 sides. (Talk about value!!) I have been searching for a good chicken parm for a couple of years now. This one was just the ticket: nice batter and juicy, tender meat-good sauce, plentiful cheese. The spaghetti portion was huge-a big bowl-and I was able to upgrade to meat sauce. The garlic bread was delicious. The side salad as an option was also bigger than I expected and filled with lots of fresh veggies: lettuce mix, carrots, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, red onion plus shredded cheese and croutons...wow! Hubby ordered spaghetti with both sausage and meatballs and, again, it was enormous-and delicious! We also tried the fries and the macaroni salad. The fries had a lovely flavor but needed a second fry to get crispy enough. The mac was decent enough that we would get it again. Now that we know how great this place is, we will be back repeatedly to try different menu items-including breakfast. This is not a place to go for ambiance. It is decidedly bland in it's decor. But it is comfortable-no blaring music-and super welcoming. We are looking forward to our next visit...soon... read more

I stopped by this relatively new spot in Selbyville last Saturday. They had a nice selection on the menu and I decided on a classic patty melt with fries. It was probably the best one I've ever had. Everything was done perfectly and it wasn't a tiny frozen burger. The fries were great,too.
