3 Cheeses and 3 Meats & White Bean Hummus & Prosciutto and Provolone Stuffed Peppers

Lucas Confectionary- Boujee trendy spot in Troy with delicious finger food. Overall a nice pricey spot for an intimate romantic date or group hang out. Ambiance- indoors is dimly lit and romantic which makes it a great atmosphere for an intimate date. The back is a converted outdoor setup which is perfect during the winter because it is well insulated yet feels outdoors. Meatballs and garlic bread: delicious and strong flavors. Small portion though. 3 Cheeses and 3 Meats: I enjoyed the ingredients. This went very well with the wines we ordered. White Bean Hummus: fresh ingredients and nice finger food Prosciutto and Provolone Stuffed Peppers: We really disliked this dish. It was a bit odd. The dish could have been improved if the peppers were roasted. The raw peppers were a surprisingly odd flavor and texture that didn't compliment the prosciutto and cheese well.

Lucas Confectionery, quite simply, is our favorite local wine bar. Period. As soon as you walk through the doors, you melt into the cozy, warm lighting and decor of bygones times. You are provided with a choice list of delightful wines, beer (cans and tap), and more with information and careful attention provided by the knowledgeable staff. They are there to provide insightful info on your choices and allow you to have a taste for your final decision. If you've just stopped in for a glass or two, once you've decided on what's in your glass, you can choose to sit in the quaint bar room which is truly a page out of the victorian era (which is the building's roots). You may also saunter to the back room. This back room is a treasure. In the cold weather, it's cozy and you can take a seat and gaze into the fireplace. In the summer, the roof retracts... yes, retracts(!) to make it an open-air space. This place has the whole vibe - quiet place to ponder over a glass of wine or have a romantic night out over candle lit wine. There are delicious small plates and cheese boards to pair with your sip. One of the Capital District's best.

This place rocks. All the wines tasted great. It's somewhat small plate with a limited menu but it is great tasting food. The inside atmosphere us awesome with various seating styles along with an outside area.

Love love love this spot. It's a wonderful intimate place to gather with. Friends or go on a date. The ambiance is very chill and trendy. I love the fact that they restore and reuse historical pieces in the design. We popped in on a sweltering summer night recently to indulge in their Tuesday special. I had a delicious Riesling to sip alongside my incredible build your own smashburger, the toppi g choices were amazing. I settled on pickled onions, bacon, cheddar, and a regular bun. My husband chose a gluten-free bun, and the American, which is made with American cheese, tomato, ketchup, and he added carmelized onions. We shared an order of their loaded tots, which were to die for. The owner, Vic, was there to greet people and help out , he is always very friendly and warm. His Sommelier/Bar Tender is very knowledgeable and helpful when deciding what type of wine or cocktail you should choose. They have a fantastic craft cocktail menu and even mocktails for non drinkers. Even the complimentary house water is refreshing. This will be a lifesaver this summer no doubt. Always innovative! GREAT JOB VIC AND STAFF!!

Just Wow!! Went in for Burgers and Tots.. simply delicious. Patty was prepared perfectly and topped with gorgeous heirloom tomato and fresh crisp lettuce. Margarita was superb and fresh. As soon as you get there you are transported into bliss and hospitality. The garden is a great spot to take in nature and a bit of Troy history.

Lucas Confectionery is absolutely adorable. I was introduced to Lucas while attending a wine tasting that was hosted within the bar. From the moment we approached the bar, I knew I would love everything about the space. I couldn't get over the exposed brick and the wood paneling throughout the bar. Lucas doesn't have a lot of sitting inside but it's very spacious. The bar can easily hold a large number of people that opt to stand. Lucas is not a place that would visit for a sit down meal because the sitting isn't conducive to a sit down dinner. Lucas does have outdoor sitting on the back patio that has ample tables. Since it was just starting to warm up when I visited Lucas, the outdoor patio didn't have too many people outside but I could easily see the place getting very busy on a warm summer night. After visiting Lucas, I see this place a great place to host an larger social event such as a networking event or company holiday party.

This will definitely be the new "hot spot" in Troy. We arrived shortly after they opened on a Thursday evening and by the time we left, around 7 pm, the place was just about full. During the recent Victorian Stroll event there was a line of people waiting to get in. The restoration of the interior speaks welcoming to you as you enter. The staff are warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. The carafe of water brought to our table was infused with the flavor of cucumber and some other flavors that I don't recall. It was very refreshing. The wine bar is the first in the area with wine on draft. Being a wine bar the only beer is in bottles, but there are at least some good craft beers available. We started with a couple of glasses of wine, a Pier 41 Red Blend from Red Hook Winery in New York ($12) and a Vinha do Mouro from Quinta do Mouro in Portugal ($11). Both were nice, but the one from Portugal was really nice. From the Small Plates section of the menu we ordered the Kalamata Olive Tapenade ($4.50). I'm not a tapenade fan but my wife is. She said it was delicious. I tried it and found that I agreed with her. It was certainly the best tasting tapenade I'd ever had. The Cheese & Charcuterie menu offers four choices - a selection of 1 item for $5; 3 items for $12; 5 items for $20; and our choice of the Monger's Choice ($23) - a selection of cheeses & charcuterie of the kitchen's choice along with suggested appropriate pairings. Our Monger's Choice ended up including 4 cheeses, 4 meats, a mix of olives, Marcona almonds, little pickles, whole grain mustard, honey, and at least three other items that I don't recall. The recommended pairings with each cheese were wonderful. The flavors just burst in your mouth. The cheeses on our slate were Shushan Snow, Red Hawk, Pleasant Ridge Reserve, and Shaker Blue. The charcuteries were Spicy Capicola, Applewood Smoked Magret Duck Breast, Bresaola, and Duck Salami. Service was excellent. Several servers and the owner stopped by occasionally to check on us and to answer any questions. They were all very knowledgeable. We are looking forward to our return and possibly try some of the sweets also the next time. Your receipt can either be printed or emailed to you.

    Time for another adventure!!

Lucas Confectionary is located in downtown Troy. It's a very spacious venue, with a semi outdoor seating area. The vibe is casual, and the hostess tells me I may seat myself, I choose to eat in the garden. It's a lovely day outside. I place my order, the house bread as an appetizer, with a cheese pizza as my entree. Seems like a lot of bread, but the menu isn't very extensive. I don't count that against them as the main focus of this restaurant is the wine selection. My house bread arrives, and it is amazing! Perfectly crusty outside, warm and soft inside, served with a creamed butter, with braised garlic and crispy rosemary. It's fantastic. I move on to the pizza which has now arrived. It looks like it will be just as good as the bread, sadly it's not. The pizza tastes really cheap and basic. The cheese is rubbery. I was expecting the pizza to be way more flavourful. I'm disappointed. This restaurant gives me the communal feeling of a tapas place, and the portions are very generous. It's a great place to go for drinks with friends, or happy hour with coworkers. I'm not a fan of the dog friendly policy here, however if that's your thing you'll likely enjoy. Overall, I would visit again, I will just stick to the bread and wine next time. I would recommend.

A guaranteed hit. Troy is over-run with bars with more beer taps than a yellow lab bitch has teats. So finally somebody wakes up and says, "gee, maybe I should do something different." In this case, the somebody is Vic Christopher and his lovely wife Heather, and they have done something not only different, but passionately so. What we have here is a wine bar with enough style and spunk to be a smash hit on the lower east side of NYC. Drop it in Troy, for God's sake, and it's so good you fear the locals won't know what to do with it. But fear not, on tonight's grand opening, the place is completely packed, the wine is flowing fast as the two lone Square-equipped iPads can ring the sales, and EVERYBODY is smiling and cheerful. I predict more than the usual percentage of patrons will go home and make babies tonight. It's THAT kind of smiling. I'll leave it to future reviews to extol the virtues of the wine list and menu, to wax eloquent about the venerable antique espresso machine, and the depth of Vic's attention to the minutest detail in decor, not to mention his obsession with all things historical Troy. For now, I'm calling this a monster success that is going to attract a more age-diverse clientele than the typical Troy brew pub. I think it's got legs for the long run. Join me in wishing Vic and Heather the best of success with their unique new bar!

I walked into Lucas to find a beautifully decorated space. Word on the street is that these folks helped revitalize Troy. It was my first visit and I was super impressed by the adorable walkable neighborhood. Who knew! Per the recommendation of Daniel B, I went for wine and cheese for my afternoon work session. A glass of wine will do a body good for some productivity after a long drive. I opted for the Vino Verde. The wine was mineral-y, light with a hint of sweetness to balance it out. I paired it with a light snack - their charcuterie board - 3 for $13. Cremont, chorizo, and prosciutto. Fun fact: house-cured meats! Infinitely more delicious. The cremont was a creamy Brie-like textured cheese, but lighter in flavor. None of those things logically paired well together but I wanted to sample each of them. Go for the chorizo! I also did a little poking around as I went back to the bathroom to find a beautiful back patio with greenery woven through the open beams, which added to the romantic, bright and airy space. Great for a party! Every detail in this space is deliberate. The atmosphere is cool, trendy, and timeless.

Since the weather was iffy, we didn't purchase the Groupon ahead of time...but the nice young man that was both bartending and waiting tables gave us a heads-up about it. We purchased it prior to the end of our meal and saved a few bucks. Spindles is a small, intimate space with a lovely tapas menu and a few regular sized meal choices. There's a nice wine and beer selection as well. Service was good. We decided to try a few different items to share as much as we could possibly eat. We ordered rather rich, winter-centric (IMHO) food: Bacon wrapped dates, Chicken Pot Pie, Warm Baked Brie and Rosemary Cashews. There were several other tapas that looked appealing (ahi tuna, for example), but they were out of a few things (including the tuna). The Bacon wrapped dates (that include some chorizo) were sweet and savory - just as expected. They are drizzled in honey with plenty left over on the plate for additional slathering. The brie is almost like a dessert - the brown butter whiskey sauce is super sweet. The walnuts add a nice crunchy texture and the bread was served hot. We started with the rosemary cashews and a couple of glasses of red wine (Malbec...from the tap!). The chicken pot pie sealed the deal. I thought it was excellent, but if you are not into black pepper, this might not be the right choice for you. Very peppery pot pie (say that three times fast!) with big chunks of white meat chicken and veggies without excessive creamy richness. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely return when we are back in the neighborhood.

I walked in with no reservations. I noticed the space is very large with multiple dining rooms. I'm tired, I asked for a table close to the open kitchen. Once seated, I'm given a large, leather menu. There are lots of great entree choices but after I review all the selections, I'm going with the SK Bistro Burger. The entree also has a wine pairing suggestion, a Cabernet Sauvignon. We arrived early and were seated promptly; water was poured before we even had napkins on laps. This surprised me, as reviews indicated that service could be slow and this was a holiday. But this started a constant service of someone checking in on us every 2-3 minutes (I am prone to exaggeration for a good story, but I assure you this was true. I kept checking my watch to confirm). We put in an appetizer order (deviled eggs) that was served within a minute or two. These were well seasoned and tasty, ice cold from the refrigerator. It's not that they didn't taste fresh, but they were served to us so quickly that I know that they were prepared well in advance and only the warm pork belly was recently prepped. Our meals were served as the appetizer was finished (I was still chewing). At this point, we were 10 minutes into our seating. Our meals included steak and eggs, which I incorrectly assumed would require a little bit more time. Not true! Our plates arrived, piping hot and tasty enough...but boy did we feel rushed. Our server, the manager, bussers, and other attendants stopped by our table every few minutes. I recognize this was a holiday, but there was not a steady stream of people coming through the doors and plenty of open tables were available. Our conversation was repeatedly interrupted with these check-ins and we all took great care to eat the meal as slowly as possibly to stretch things out. At this point we were on track to be out the door in 30 minutes. As a table we made a decision to order dessert and we were able to savor and dawdle long enough to get us to one hour. $180 later, we finished our Easter visit out in the parking lot where no one was pushing us out. (I will note that several families arrived after us and completed their meals in 30ish minutes. What's special about brunch when it's that rushed?) I wish I could review the food better, but my taste buds hardly had time to register the experience. Entrees were hot but clearly prepared well in advance and kept at the ready under heat lamps or in warming ovens. The dessert was cold and sweet as appropriate, but had that prepped yesterday feel to it. This is not what I expect from a restaurant that markets itself as a fresh farm to table establishment. I don't quite regret going to Scarlet Knife, but there are enough quality restaurants in the greater area that I probably won't return.

The drinks here are well-balanced and tasty, but also INTERESTING, which makes this end of Lark Street with 288 and The Savoy officially the best place to get legitimately good and creative cocktails in the Cap District. The cocktails at 288 are good because the bar manager, Emmanuel, is an absolute pro: he was the reason that the cocktails at the late, lamented Speakeasy 518 were the best around, and now he's brought his expertise to 288. Seriously folks, this bar is an embarrassment of riches. I only wanted to have one beer, but I left with three. Two I enjoyed on site, Hill Farmstead's Susan and the brewery's Society and Solitude #13. Sadly, Dave wasn't there, so I didn't get to say hi, or shake his hand, or thank him for his hard work of managing such an epic tap list. Regrettably I rolled in late in the evening and the kitchen had already closed. No wings for me. Not even one of their special deviled eggs... which sounded delicious, btw. Welp, it was a very very good reminder for me to get back to Troy, arrive earlier in the evening, and move The Ruck back up to the top of my list. You Trojans are lucky to have this joint. Go there. Often. And rejoice.

The drinks came out quickly after we ordered them. The food took a decent amount longer. While we did wait 30 minutes for our food when it wasn't very busy , when it did come out it was hot and delicious. Flavorful wings, yummy disco fries/tots and some of the most well seasoned onion rings I've ever had. The atmosphere of the restaurant is classic pub food bar place but was well cleaned. Other than having to wait a little longer than usual for our food it was a great experience. We were so excited to eat by the time it came I did forget to take a photo of the food but it was all portioned well and well seasoned.

Another great visit to Innovo Kitchen I've been to Innovo Kitchen several times over the years and have reviewed them before, and today's visit didn't disappoint either. One thing I really like about Innovo is that they frequently change the menu, so there's always something new to try, and I've never had trouble finding something that sounds good. Tonight I went with the Rigatoni Riggies with tomato vodka sauce and chicken, and it was delicious. The warm bread that came with it was also really tasty. We also tried the Dorito Cool Ranch tater tots, which were delightful. But the real showstopper was the peanut butter mud pie. Soooooo good. Definitely one of those desserts that makes you wish you had ordered two. What really made tonight's visit memorable, though, was our waiter, Matthew. He noticed the funny design on my T-shirt and struck up a conversation about it. We laughed and chatted for a bit, and eventually he mentioned that he's been a waiter for 27 years. It showed. Matthew was high-energy, funny, personable, and attentive without being overbearing. He checked on us several times and seemed to genuinely enjoy what he was doing. Watching him work was like watching someone who has truly mastered his craft. It was a master class in waitership, and it made an already great meal even better. Great food, a fun atmosphere, and an excellent server. Another very enjoyable visit to Innovo Kitchen.

They are always pleasant and attentive. However, the food is not as good as a story. Your "experience" starts by reading the menu and being greeted by relatively high prices - which isn't an issue if the food is stellar (spoiler alert, it's not). I have had multiple dishes here from a roast beef sandwich, burger, chicken Caesar salad, an onion pasta dish, and even a lobster Cobb salad. Every single dish lacks seasoning, culinary character, and is just bland. I want to like it, but they make it very hard. If you go here, maybe just have a drink at the bar and go eat some place else.
