Late night stop. Catching up on work and needed a place to keep me awake. I keep seeing this Luce location and decided to stop by. Greeted with friendly faces and great recommendations from staff. Cold Spanish latte was the perfect kick to get me working. Went upstairs as bottom had limited seating. Definitely different vibe upstairs. Very chill and yet work comfy. Great window vies to watch the outside lighting lights. Seats are high stools with tables, outlets and even a wire holder. Enjoyed the time here as well as the drink. Will be coming again and will try pastries as they looked yummy.

If you're up at 6:30am, give this spot a try! The iced chai latte is so smooth and delicious. I will definitely be back! The baristas were all a delight. Everyone was very kind explaining menu options to this newbie. The ambiance is very LoFi chill with some outdoor, downstairs, and upstairs seating. It is a spot for small groups (4 max) either the table arrangements. Looks like a good spot for remote work, too!

I really want to like this place...... I do. But unfortunately I can't. The place is located in a shopping center and is very convenient. The overall look of the place is very rustic and modern. I truly think it was decorated well. It's on the smaller side but maybe there's seating upstairs. The two stars are for the chai tea latte being impeccable everytime I go. The breakfast tacos from Liberty Taco are good. Overall, no complaints with the food. The service is TERRIBLE. There hasn't been a time that I haven't gone in there and someone has been rude. This past time I online ordered 30 minutes before I got there. It wasn't ready when I got there. No worries! I asked the girl how long I should wait and she says, "I'm literally making it right now". This type of behavior in a customer facing role is completely unacceptable. I'm sure they deal with people that are rude and mad, but that's never been me. I would suggest customer service training for all of them.

The ground beef empanada was good but a tad cold in some spots but I was starving and it hit the spot. The cloud donut was the star of the show!! By far my new favorite drink!

Today I came by and ordered the black island which contains charcoal powder,coconut milk and pandan. Other times when I come by I often order the Black Forest which is a mixture of charcoal powder and match. Every time I come by here I never leave disappointed as the drinks are very creative and tasteful as well. I always come in and order my drink and it never takes any longer than 10 minutes, most times less than that. The area is very large with two levels and the upstairs level even lets you look down to where they are making your drink, the music that they play is relaxing and not your typical playlist you hear when you go to most restaurants. Overall this place never disappoints so I will continue to come by here.

I come every time and get a charcoal drink because I'm obsessed with charcoal. It has suspected properties but it's those health things they don't have any research. You know what? I still love it and I can tell it does some tox stuff on me. They always get the flavors right with the coffee. Parking is actually not too bad anytime I've been. They have two spots in front dedicated to them and the juice bar next door but there's usually a decent spot in the lot.

This place is right next to an apartment building and I am glad I decided to stop by and try them out! The staff are always super nice and patient specially when they run into people that take a bit longer to look at the menu how I do. I tried an iced coffee and a lemon pastry and I have to say that I was amazed how something as simple as that combo was able to bring so much comfort. They have a cozy ambiance but maybe being a light sweater with you because I did get a little cold in there!

Modern industrial vibes at this specialty café that roasts its own coffee and crafts some really good coffee drinks! I've tried several of their coffee bags for brewing at home and they are great! I have not yet tried any of their pastries but they look delicious. Vibe: Lots of space and a small patio area in front. Lots of seating and outlets on the second floor, great for working remotely. This is also a great place to meet up with friends and catch up! The decorations keep everything looking clean and organized with style. Service is excellent and the baristas are helpful. Food: On our most recent visit, we tried the cortado and mocha latte. The cortado was very creamy and the espresso was extraordinary! Mocha latte was also delicous, and had a good balance of sweetness from the chocolate to balance the espresso - not too sweet. I've tried their pourovers before and they have been consistently good. The prices are little on the pricey side but it comes with the quality.

I came by and ordered a little before noon a chai latte, which was prepared perfectly warm-hot, creamy, and just sweet enough. I asked for the ham and cheese croissant to be heated and wrapped, so that it wouldn't leak through the bag. The staff wrapped it in parchment paper, then inside a double open bag. After 5 minutes inside the bag, the croissant was still flakey and crunchy. The cheese and ham mix resembled a croque monsieur in flavor and texture.

Place was so good we went twice in one week. I got the Black Island without half and half and it was amazing. You can really taste the pandan, the coconut milk balances it well. I'm excited for them to open a location closer to home.

The hubs & recently moved to Houston & have tried a few coffee shops - but this is by far our favorite so far. We even told ourselves "nah let's try other places no double backing" & yet we ended back here 2 days in a row after a couple failed coffee shops we tried. The hubs gets the montblanc with oat milk & I get the black island nondairy . We have also tried the one with Matcha & that one was yummy too. The only thing is theyre not that strong - I was telling my hubs next time we should ask for an extra shot but aside from that everything is great. The ambience is super cool, especially the upstairs area with the light fixtures, seating area & the roasting room. read more

COFFEE YES -MERCHANDISE NO! While they serve some of the best coffee in the city their customer service on the merchandise they sell is absolutely non-existant. I purchased an expensive espresso thermal cup from them. A week later the top of the cup fell apart...I thought simply exchanging it for it a new one would be sufficient ...Nope It took three trips a lot of hassle and an additional $15 to finally get a new cup ...They first wanted me to contact the manufacturer of the cup....Are you kidding me? Really? When I refused they then wanted proof that I purchased it there. The company name is imprinted on the cup ...... hello!!!! WTF Finally after looking up the charge on my CC history and submitting a copy they finally satisfied. .Well sort of, they still refused to exchange the cup unless I gave them an additional $15 1/2 price of a new cup... luckily I did not purchase a $200 kettle from them...No more merch from this establishment! Two things really bother me from merchants .A money grab attitude and zero customer service .Luce is guilty of both.I should have bought a Yeti cup from Amazon first...Cheaper, .better quality and they back their products 100% NEVER AGAIN read more

One of my favorite coffee spots in Houston. There are so many different options to choose from and it has an absolutely stunning interior. I usually go for a cortado, but I decided to venture out and get the iced choco chai seasonal drink- SO delicious! I wished I lived closer because I'd be here every day! I am so thankful to have found this amazing coffee shop. The coffee is so amazing and the staff is always so kind. I love the vibes in this fancy two story coffee shop. This a place that I love to tell family and friends to come and try. All have been very impressed. If you ever want a strong coffee full of flavor, this is your SPOT! I have been their long-time customer, even before this location opened back and when it was only one location in Richmond Ave. I am glad that the owner opened up this location, which is much more significant than the first store, with plenty of seating, tables, and more food options. Of course this location offers newly roasted coffee beans! I love all their drinks and food selections. You can never go wrong with any of them. read more

I was in town and was looking up unique coffee shops. Just as most other customers, their charcoal coffee beverages caught my attention. Black is my favorite color, why not drink it too! This location is spacious and beautifully designed. The staff are very hospitable as they were helpful, friendly, and even funny. We were there to kill time and managed to order a total of 6 drinks before we left. All of which was unique and delicious. The Montblanc tasted to me like cereal milk but not overly sweet. Usually I love this place but today was not it! I ordered two of the same drinks and somehow they looked different, one was sweeter than the other so I just wanted to make it sweeter. It's been a while since I tried a new cafe in Houston. Luce was a shot in the dark but well worth the payoff. In a sea of mediocre coffee, Luce provided a good menu with drinks that pack a punch. The mochas are intense in a good way, very rich in chocolate but without the cheap aftertaste most chocolatey drinks have. The specials are very different and unique. I enjoyed the Black Island! The coconut flavor was quite strong, so I can only recommend it to those that can stomach coconut well (as every drink here is either strong or intense in flavor). I could see myself coming here consistently and spending time at the industrial style cafe to study if I lived here still! read more

Came to Luce for the first time with a friend and was very happy with my decision. We ordered the island latte and cream americano which were both amazing. The island latte had a really strong coconut flavor which I surprisingly enjoyed and was just the right amount of sweetness. There was lots of seating and was a great study spot for us to get work done. Definitely want to try out the other flavors next time! read more

This was a gem!!!!! Wow this place had blown my mind the coffee was amazing . Their interior design was just beautiful . The staff is so friendly and nice . I had been wanting to go here for so long and finally got a chance to go in . I had wanted to try something new and just be adventurous so I got the black charcoal coffee with coconut milk and let me tell you it is so amazing . My boyfriend loves strong coffee and they recommend a really awesome coffee that tasted just like the Vietnamese coffee I wish I can remember but it was so awesome This visit is amazing . read more

This place selectively enforces their own rules. Not a huge deal, but it's annoying when I get turned away while *carrying* my small dog in the place to order coffee to go, meanwhile a few weeks later I see a lady actually walking her dog around the shop. I mean do you allow dogs or don't you? I'm fine either way, just make a policy and stick to it. Because when you have an inconsistent policy like this, you generate all sorts of questions regarding unequal treatment and preferences possibly based on things like appearance. Anyway the coffee is 6/10, recommend Slowpokes or Sunday Press across the street. read more

These are the nicest and most helpful baristas you will ever meet! Not only was the coffee awesome, their pastries were bomb! I tried a Spanish latte on my first visit and it was the best I'd had. (I'm pretty partial to the one I get at home in Brooklyn) Second trip, I had the Iced Black Island and it was so yummy! The Almond Croissants are legit. I'm so glad places like this have popped up not too far from where I grew up in Northside. Sometimes you want something other than breakfast tacos and cafe de olla so this breaks up the monotony. I was looking for a cute coffee shop that had unique drinks, and I stumbled across this place! Super cute place with lots of tables to do some work if needed. Keep in mind, it's a little loud with music playing and people coming in and out, so may not be best for serious studying. I would say it's perfect for work/casual studying/catching up with friends. Parking can get crowded in this complex and hard to find, but you can always park on the side streets. My favorite drink is the Black Forest (with matcha) and it is not too sweet. But there are plenty of drinks that are super unique! While they also have pastries inside, I wasn't all too impressed with the selection. So our go-to has been going to get amazing kolaches at kolache shoppe (in same plaza) and then dropping by for coffee at Luce, which I both highly recommend! read more

you cannot go wrong with their island latte!! amazing every time, i go out of my way to get this when the craving hits, b/c there's no other place that have this drink! island latte: pandan, milk, coffee. (im sure there's more) its creamy and has this nutty aftertaste. the latte goes down real smooth! this is a great sweet treat that has a little kick to help you focus on whatever tasks you need completed. i really like this location, the 2nd floor has many table set up and stools great for independent studies. however since they're stool, there's no backing to them, so your back be hurting after a few hours, be worn! very chill vibe. would recommend! read more

By far the most delicious coffee I've had in the Heights. The Mont Blanc is amazing hot or iced and the Black Forest is delicious as well. I've only had the Black Forest iced and the Dirty Black Forest and they're both amazing. it's a little better than the Mont Blanc in my opinion because I love the matcha. read more

Expensive, average, potentially cute upstairs but even still bleh. The lady with the pink hair, assistant manager, I'm guessing as she's always bossing people around but mostly just standing there. The food is awesome but again STUPID expensive. Turns out the tacos are from A local restaurant and the mark up crazy. Could get two fresh ones forbthe price paid for one several hour old one. read more

Spectacular outlook, their coffee is of awesome quality, l have been into artesanal coffee for years and experienced numerous places in the LA region as one of the most coffee cultural cities of the world. Luce is one of my favorite local coffee places! The charcoal beverages are DELICIOUS and not to be skipped. I've been several times, but this time was the first I got a baked good. Jalapeño sausage croissant is FAB. 12/10 love this place. Minimal seating so beware of that. read more

Best coffee shop in H*Town!!! Been coming here for years and never disappoints. Island latte, cream Americano and hazelnut macchiato are my favorite. Their coffee grounds are the best because that expresó taste amazing... nobody beats them at all. Coffee lover that's been probably to so many shops across Texas. I came here from tiktok thinking this place would be a great place to study also great time to try out another local houston coffee shops. Pros: -plenty of parking spots -creative drinks -beautiful decor Cons: -plenty of fruit flies -restroom was not clean ; trash bin was overflowing the top -very limited seat and table (best to come alone) I suggest if you want to get a good study in or even come with a group of friends I recommend going to toms & toms coffee in bellaire. read more

Amazing service, and nice ambiance, Girl named Julia attended me, knowledge super friendly, Nice fresh roasted coffee beans. First shot on my espresso machine and got the crema out of my shots that couldn't get with other beans, Will definitely be back for more and try their drinks, Highly recommend. read more

The barista's there were incredibly friendly and helpful with really bubbly personalities. They make great recommendations and are fun to talk to. You can tell they all work well together and bring a fun energy. The ambience is cool and has quite a bit of seating available. Super clean, chill spot with free wifi. I love that they have vegan milk alternatives and a unique drink menu unlike any other ive seen in a while. Definitely recommend the iced island latte (I skipped the half and half because I'm vegan) - by far the best coffee concoction I've ever tried. It was heavenly. I could have drank 3 more. read more

Good coffee and friendly service. The problem I have with this coffee shop is when I tried to exchange a pastry that was so bitter/dense/dry and would crumble which was suppose to be lemon poppy seed and did not taste fresh (I am a professional baker), it was barely touched and attempted to exchange for something that I would have enjoyed but was told there was nothing wrong with it that I just "didn't like it" and then attempted to sell me a discounted pastry for my trouble- why should I pay twice for something that I enjoy? Isn't your customers opinion a priority? Seems like a terrible way to run a business. I get the customers not always right but this is cut and dry. (Oh and just so you know I threw away the pastry not just trying to get free stuff) Definitely don't think I'm coming back. read more

The pistachio flavor very much overpowered the baklava aspects of the dish, so I could see it being less of an issue with other flavors. The chai latte on the other hand was quite delectable, it had just the right amount of spice and the flavor was both rich and consistent through the entire drink. Before any staff member greeted me or even acknowledged me as a customer, someone from behind the far counter told me that dogs were not allowed inside. I mentioned that their Google listing says pets are welcome, and the response was that it applies to a different location. That would be fine if it were clear, but the listing I checked had this location's address directly underneath "pets welcome." That is confusing and misleading. What made it more frustrating was the lack of hospitality. There was no greeting, no attempt to clarify kindly, no "We're sorry for the confusion," and no effort to offer a solution like helping me quickly order to go. It felt dismissive. Clear and accurate information matters. If pets are not welcome at this location, the listing should reflect that. I drove out of my way based on that detail, and it ended up being a waste of time and gas. Because of that experience, I chose not to patronize the this location but may try another location one day.

The weekends however are packed and usually have lines. If you're not a line person, I would definitely come on a weekday. This was one of those places where I'd hate to admit how much money I've spent here, and I did it happily. In just three weeks, our beloved spot, one I would willingly drive out of my way for, has gone so far downhill that I barely recognize it. From the eyesore taco warmer that practically knocks you in the face while you're ordering, replacing a space that once showcased lovely things like fresh flowers and local trinkets, to the disappearance of the wonderful local treats from Sinfull Bakery that kids genuinely enjoyed. At first I thought maybe you were just out, but after three weeks it became clear that expenses were being cut across the board and those items may never come back. And where do I even begin. The new oat milk is terrible. It completely changes the look and taste of the coffee and is immediately noticeable. I won't harp on the change of hours or the change in flavor of your coffee beans, but I feel it must be mentioned because, well, it's noticeable. And now the cleanliness. Spilled taco sauce all over the floor, and when your kid points it out, you know you're in trouble at that point. Dishes piled so high they're overflowing, dirty restrooms. And to be clear, this isn't the staff's fault, there is simply not enough staff to keep up with these things. Never ever in seven years of being a frequent visitor has it been this bad. I also noticed the new coffee packaging, and it's just another reminder that the heart and thoughtfulness that once defined this place are gone. At this rate I half expect robots handing me my latte in a few weeks so you can save a few more bucks. And getting rid of Toast. Even if Toast was an expensive platform to use, it was legitimately so convenient. And dang, if you're going to do away with it, don't replace it with the worst possible ordering system ever, one that doesn't even work. Do you know how many orders I wouldn't have placed if it weren't for Toast? Toast made those orders possible when I didn't have time to wait. Without it, I simply wouldn't have ordered. I understand times are tough for many businesses, but you all were booming. The new online ordering system doesn't work. You may as well do away with it altogether because this one just isn't it. Honestly, I am devastated. You knocked it out of the park in every area, cleanliness, service, food. I never had a single bad item on the menu. The coffee was beyond. When my family moved out of the city a year and a half ago, I still drove 35 minutes one way just to get your food and coffee, over an hour round trip again and again. I don't think you understand how this new direction has driven this place into the ground in a matter of three weeks. Sadly all good things must come to an end.

The Thai tea was basic and I enjoyed the herbal tea on a hot, humid day. Will come back to try their other drinks.

I asked if I could get the pistachio dream with oatmilk and the server recommended against it saying it would make the drink too sweet. I appreciated her honest advice and got the dragonfruit strawberry refresher instead. It was definitely refreshing with the perfect amount of ice to keep it cold but not water it down. I also tried one of the mini croissants which is probably what will keep me coming back. Flaky and full of high quality cheese and spices, I wish I had gotten two! I'll definitely come back at an earlier time since a lot of the pastries were sold out.
