I pass the Hogan location every day on my way to work and have been wanting to try it for the longest time. Today we finally stopped by the new Houston Ave location and went through the drive-thru. Safe to say it lived up to the hype! We ordered the Mazapán cold brew, the Banana Latte, and two breakfast tacos. The drinks were AMAZING--both flavorful without being overly sweet, and the Mazapán cold brew especially stood out. The breakfast tacos were also really good and the perfect quick bite with coffee. Everything came out quickly and the drive-thru experience was smooth. We'll definitely be back on weekends or days off. My only wish is that they opened earlier since I pass by on my way to work and they open at 8 AM. Overall, such a great first visit. Finally made it to Carino Cafe on Hogan St. and tried their coffee flight! With the flights you get to choose four out of five coffee or matcha options there's just no mixing. For my flight I picked: The Horchata Latte which was my favorite of the flight! It has a great horchata flavor, light cinnamon, creamy and all without being overly sweet. The Banana Latte was my second favorite in terms of flavor. I wasn't a big fan of the chunky texture from the smashed banana (not something I enjoy in coffee in general), but the banana flavor itself wasn't overpowering, which I really liked. The Mazapan Cold Brew was my third favorite. It's a true cold brew topped with a delicious cold foam. Last but not least the Cafe de Olla Cold Brew was a solid and strong cold brew with a creamy finish. While there I ordered the Macadamia Nut Latte just to try which tasted exactly as expected smooth and nutty, but just ok. I also ordered my absolute favorite coffee at Carino Cafe which is the Cortadillo Latte. It was so good the last time that I had to get a large this time! This Carino Coffee Cafe location offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great place to relax, study, and socialize. They serve coffee until 4pm then transition into Rabbit's Got the Gun a bar that's open until 2am, which is honestly like experiencing two spots in one. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars was that I found small pieces of the mazapan plastic inside of the mazapan cold foam. It's difficult to enjoy your drink after that, but what I did get to have tasted great. The parking is a bit troublesome but could be worth the hassle if you want to enjoy a solid tasting coffee. read more

Cute cafe that turns into a bar at night! Chill vibes with good music. There's indoor and outdoor seating. There's a small space for vehicles to park directly infront of the cafe (across the street). I wouldn't call it a parking lot since there's no desginated spots or lines and was a bit rough on our tires so be careful! But it's free to park so a win is a win. I'm so happy with my coffee today! Cariño Café is such a gem, it's a bar and coffee spot in one, and they absolutely nailed it. I ordered the horchata iced latte and let me tell you... it was the best one I've ever had! My husband tried their café de olla and loved it too. The service was fast, and both the barista and the young woman who took our order were super friendly, that alone speaks volumes when supporting small businesses! So, first of, there is a parking lot across from this place, but you're lucky to get a spot, especially on a busy day. The vibes inside were very interesting because it looked like a bar. Nonetheless, my sisters & I all got the same coffee which was the cafe de olla shaken espresso with oat milk, and it was pretty good. Dropped in for a few matches with a friend, we got in before the crazy rush - this place is popular! We got a mazepan matcha which they are unique for and a fruit loops matcha. Both were interesting flavors, the mazepan tasted peanutty but was pretty good. The fruit loops one tasted JUST LIKE fruit loops. I feel that the matcha was good but the flavors kind of over powered it, so next time I'm curious to just get a simple matcha latte! I have come here on two separate occasions, this time that I came I got the mazapán latte and the time before I got the mazapán match (not pictured) I prefer the coffee option it provides both sweet and savory at the same time due to the mazapán candy, the candy is a type of peanut candy but once infused with the coffee it gives a creamier taste. Saw they were building a new cariño cafe near the heights farmers market area and decided I should visit the original before I stopped by the new location. Parking is minimal and the inside is rather quaint. However, let me tell you, this place was packed! Both indoors & outdoors. I opted for the banana latte w/ banana cold foam. It was priced a bit on the higher side for lattes, but lots of things are made in-house so it's understandable. The latte was great!!! It did not taste like artificial banana whatsoever and was super tasty! It had a bit of a cinnamon taste as well. Excited to try more things on their menu! HOLY COLD FOAM! The service was good, a little wait, but they had a market and it was a Saturday (and they forgot my drink ) I ordered a bacon, cheese and egg taco, it was good. The cheese wasn't cheddar cheese, i can't quite place my finger on it so it tasted good and different. Coffee shop/cocktail bar escondido (hidden) - easy to miss this small, hole-in-the-wall business on the corner of Hogan and Everett. Entrance is right beside a mechanic shop and there is a little sign along with the name painted on the outside that tells you you're in the right place. There is a small little outdoor area that has vendors on occasion. A big metal door opens to the colorful and neat inside. They have coffees, specialty coffees, matcha and some baked goods (muffins, croissants, etc.). We got their Mazapán cold brew and a banana nut muffin. I had never tried Mazapán before - it has a distinct peanut flavor (that's what it is made of) and some little crumbles mixed in the coffee. Complimented the muffin very well. I had the whole morning off on a school day and decided to go study somewhere. I went back to Cariño Coffee at about 9 in the morning and I had the whole place to myself. There's not that much seating but every booth has an outlet and the high table has an outlet behind it as well. This place doubles as a bar at night, hence why the cafe closes early. I really loved the mazapan matcha last time so I decided to get the matcha squares this time. It's a double matcha with vanilla and a matcha cream top. Once again, the matcha was created perfectly. It was so smooth and you can definitely tell that the matcha flavor is stronger with their matcha cream top. They are so good at making their cream tops here. They perfectly add some subtle overall sweetness. They have a dirty parking lot available across the street.
