On June 12, 2026, I went to Lucero's Bakery Express to purchase a cake for my mother's birthday. I have been a customer of this bakery for quite some time, and unfortunately, this is the second time I have experienced the same issue. I purchased a Nuñez Tres Leches cake, but the cake was extremely dry and hard, as if it had been sitting there for several days. A tres leches cake is supposed to be moist and soft, but this cake was the complete opposite. No one at the party ate it because of how dry it was. The next morning, June 13, 2026, at approximately 11:40 AM, I called the bakery and spoke with an employee. He seemed rude and uninterested in helping resolve the issue. He told me to bring the cake back, which I had no problem doing. I arrived at the bakery around 12:00 PM, only to find the business completely closed with the blinds down and the doors locked. What makes this even more frustrating is that the employee knew I was on my way, yet failed to mention they were closing. In addition, the business hours listed online state that the bakery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 AM to 7:00 PM, which was clearly not accurate. I will be returning on Monday to request a refund and return the cake, since the bakery is closed on Sundays. I am very disappointed with both the quality of the cake and the customer service I received. Customers who purchase a tres leches cake expect it to be fresh, moist, and soft--not dry, hard, and inedible. I hope this issue can be resolved appropriately. Thank you. read more

Checked out this little shop near work on a stroll and was not disappointed. They take Apple Pay which already was a huge plus. They have a nice assortment of pastries, sandwiches, juices, and more. I tested out my favorite, orange and carrot, and it was delicious! They added beet to their mix and honestly, who doesn't need a little color and extra nutrients in their diet? I usually pre-order by phone, and they're always warm and fresh when I pick them up. I'm not sure what the price is for a single churro these days, but I recently ordered 50 regular churros and got them for $1.25 each since it was a bulk order. A cake made out of whip cream.the inside of the cake was supposed to be filled with strawberry filling and there was hardly any strawberries. I did message the owner and explained to her how disappointing it is to have to pay $85 for garbage. Her response was, Hi Samatha , i apologize you didn't like the cake , the cake was not all whip cream we use a standard amount of whip cream for all our cakes depending on the size , you chose fresh berry filling , fresh fruit cakes comes with a barrier of whip to ensure the fruit doesn't slide out . It's a tiny bakery which offers Mexican bread, some drinks and the famous churros. This is a branch of the Lucero's bakery in the city of Bell Gardens. The service was really nice. The workers were truly friendly, knowledgeable and helped me with all my questions. The time I visited, around the 15:30 on a Friday, it was not crowded at all. I had a pleasant time shopping here. I think by now we all know that this place is the place for churros...just thought I'd remind many or made those who have not tried it to go and support them. The cakes here look amazing and delicious, which i've never tried, but definitely will as soon as a birthday approaches. I recently ordered the "cafe de olla" and thought it was tasty but a bummer they do not add piloncillo (brown sugar like) as most places do. The server explained "the original" does not have that added it is just coffee with cinnamon. Anyways, that coffee is still tasty and recommend trying it out. I fell in love with the conchas first. New to the neighborhood, I wandered in. Absolutely delicious and I quickly discovered that they will often sell out later in the day. They pair wonderfully with hot chocolate. My coworker loves hers with coffee. And then we had a potluck at work and one of the ladies brought tamales... From the bakery? No lie, they are awesome and under $2 a piece, it's a bargain. I've been told they make tamales every day, but they sell out quick. They have cheese tamales, but I LOVE the red pork. Not a cheese person but the people at work enjoy them. The masa is light and not gummy at all. The pork is tender and not overly spicy. I'm sure they were all a little confused that I would pop in every few days for a couple of months asking if they had any tamales. Really nice little hidden gem we visited on my last trip to California. We were hoping to get some of their mermaid / rainbow conchas we had seen in another review, but sadly they are made to order. So if you're looking for those, make sure you order in advanced! What we did get was yummy though. Some regular conchas and a really HUGE cinnamon roll (see photos). I came today to see they've tripled in floor space and I instantly thought this was going to impact the prices, I walked in and looked at the prices at the churros and they have gone up by 25 percent and I made a comment about it and the lady for very defensive and said I wouldn't have a problem spending more if I was at Disneyland.
