I never thought that appliance repair would be so rewarding. But, with "planned obsolescence" making newer appliances fail sooner and sooner throughout time, I wanted to give it a shot. I had TWO appliances go out - a non-smart, "old school", plain jane GE fridge, and a Whirlpool washing machine that we love. The fridge and freezer had suddenly stopped remaining cold enough for safe food storage. Serge had the fridge back up with a new defrost heater element module, and it has been going steady for weeks, now. I suspect we may get another 12 years out of this beast. Remarkably, the ice maker is also working like new, again. I guess when that element is going out, it affects much in the whole unit, with the way they circulate the air in these things. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Serge explained this very well to me and I appreciate that transfer of knowledge more than anything else.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The washer required a new control board and pump. This is in the garage, and Serge was able to determine that rats may have gotten in at some point, doing their chewing thang, and the wires shorted, blowing the pump, eventually blowing the controller. We have since been fostering some feral cats, and rats have been a rare sight, now. Happy to have it repaired. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The entire time, I felt in-the-loop. I always felt in good hands dealing with Vera. Both of these people are good, honest, hard-working people and I hope you will consider Lucid Appliance Repair the next time you are faced with a failing "loved one", instead of buying deeper into the overly capitalist chain of breaking/buying/breaking/buying. I needed a repairman for my 25 year old Whirlpool refrigerator. It was running out of control and freezing up in both sections. After a quick inspection, he reported that the thermocouple in the mechanical temperature control was old and needed replacing. Sure enough, it was clogged with water and ice. So he cleaned it up and got the refrigerator working until he could get a new thermocouple. Serge called again the next morning, reported that he had the new part, came over, and installed it. I've been having an issue with my Samsung refrigerator's ice machine for over a year. Constantly having ice blockage and even the occasional breaker pop. My other appliance repair guy would just say it's because my drain line was frozen then violently pulled and tugged on everything to break off the ice to disassemble and try to break whatever ice he could - not a long term solution. I contacted Lucid and Serge came out to my home ASAP. In no time, he identified my ice maker was replaced incorrectly (some of the parts weren't even the right size!). He also had a steaming tool to remove excess ice so there would be no additional damage to my ice maker before we started removing parts. Serge found the cause for the breaker popping at random times, fixed the improperly installed ice maker, AND fixed a known sealant issue with the ice maker! All this, within maybe... an hour? [[HIGHLIGHT]]What was even more refreshing is if there was something I asked about and he did not know, he didn't give me some BS - he would just candidly tell me he wasn't sure but would make a point to research a proper answer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't expect anyone to know absolutely everything on a subject and even when you're an expert, there's always "something" you may not know.
