During this wait, I checked to discover how long it should take or what is typical and reasonable. The consensus is 10 days, most things considered. One month is a very generous lead time, allowing for possible delays with insurance and approvals. A one month wait would have delighted me, and I would be posting more a positive rating -- over three months is simply too long! Also, after getting my initial test at Nordstar, I found a Consumer Reports article covering both the process for getting hearing devices and the types and features of the various choices. This "guide" details what should be covered during the initial examination. Although I believe that I received an effective hearing test, virtually none of the other aspects of the process were covered such as questions re: lifestyle or the type of listening situations that typify my experience. There was also no info provided concerning realistic expectations, i.e., what hearing aids can and cannot provide in the way of hearing improvement, nor did I get any information on the type of aid that is best for my hearing profile, or on any options that are available or not for my situation. I wanted to update my review now that I've had my new hearing aides for a while. I had my hearing…read moreevaluated at American Ear and Hearing by Dr. Adam. It was decided that for the hearing issues I was experiencing, mainly not being able to hear conversations in crowded environments, that hearing aids would be beneficial. I was fitted for a pair and when they came in the following week Dr. Adam walked me through everything I needed to know to take full advantage of my new hearing devices. After wearing hearing aides now for more than 3 weeks I am thrilled with the improvement to my hearing. The first real test of my new hearing aides was in a crowded, noisy restaurant. My wife was talking to me and I was amazed at how these devices zeroed in on her voice so I was able to hear every word she spoke plainly and clearly! And an additional bonus has been how concealed and out of view they are. My Sister-in-law knew I had them but after visiting her and talking with her we were leaving and I asked her what she thought of my hearing aides and she exclaimed "I can't even see them!" She had to look closely at the side of my face to even see them. After that I was talking with our Son and after a few moments he reached out and turned my face to the side. I asked him what he was doing and he said "I wanted to see if you were wearing your hearing aides because you could hear every word of our conversation!" That was a BIG DEAL. When he was younger and before I realized my hearing was diminished I used to ask him to speak more plainly and to stop mumbling. I didn't realize the problem was with me and not him. Several years later after I realized my hearing had faded I came clean during a Family dinner where I apologized to my entire Family, but especially my Son, for making them think my lack of hearing was their fault. Thanks to Dr. Adam and the new hearing aides he helped me select out of the many choices available all that is behind me now! My primary physician noticed a swelling on my neck and sent me for an ultrasound. It was suggested…read morethat I be evaluated further and I was referred to Dr Evan Tobin. Dr Tobin was well worth the wait. I immediately felt at ease. He could see behind my facade and answer the questions I wasn't asking, fully and in terms that I could understand. He was still waiting for my ultrasound results which hadn't been sent over before my appointment and he told me he would get them, study them and give me his recommendations. He followed up promptly the next day. I didn't answer the phone because I thought it was another one of "buy my house" calls. I certainly did not expect a return call that quickly. Dr Tobin left a short message and followed up with an email which explained fully his thoughts. In some ways the email was good because I could refer to it. You know your mind kind of goes blank when taking in medical information. I was very pleased with the care Dr Tobin gave me. I highly recommend him. Furthermore the entire office is one of efficiency and competence. I brought a big book preparing to wait in both the outer and inner office. Nope...there he was. And when Dr Tobin was in the room, I didn't feel rushed. I felt like I was his sole focus. I wish I could remember the names of his nurses. They also deserve a shout out for their competence and friendliness. You are always nervous seeing a new doctor. I felt cared for. This is a well run operation. The only fault is the check in guy is a BIG Bengals fan. And I am from Pittsburgh, Steelers! He needs to swap out those colors:)

WORST experience with the front desk! I gave my insurance card and the representative immediately…read moresaid I am out of network. I mentioned that my husband has had multiple appointments at the same location and we are in network. She ARGUED and YELLED at me about my insurance. After telling her multiple times we are in network, she then called the billing department who told her the same thing and that we are in network which made her even more mad. She then scanned my insurance card after this whole fiasco. It ruined the entire appointment with the doctor because I was so upset about what had happened and how someone representing Ohio ENT would be so unprofessional.
