Fish platter with a side of fried shrimp. Cole slaw and fries included.
    James V.

Stopped in to fill our need for energy but with it being Lent for Catholics and you follow the abstaining from meat on Friday's I was looking for a fish option tonight. I was aware of thier shrimp platter which is always a great bargain for $15 but wanted to try the fish plate which is battered cod, and was I pleasantly surprised at how tender it was. I'm not much of a fish guy other than shrimp, crablegs and Lobster. But this was delicious I can't say I would order it as a normal "go to" here because they have other options I really enjoy but I'm really glad I gave it a chance. Still one our favorite places up on the "Hill" Can't go wrong and a little tip if your not happy with your meal as my wife was with hers as her wings were overcooked don't be afraid to let them know they will make it right!

I shared the prime rib special with the added the shrimp with my wife and it was more than both of us could eat. The Blue Cheese dressing was amazing. This place was not that big and it looks like an old '70's Vegas old diner. I bet there are lots of stories in this place. Our waitress did a great job. I would definitely come again!

The Thursday special fried shrimp. I pound of shrimp between to people and we could hardly finish it.

Everything was top notch here. We were greeted before we reached the top of the stairs...we had the special of the day-fried shrimp and added the most delicious wedge salad. Kyle was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Best service we have had since we arrived two days ago and checked in to the Horseshoe. Love this place.

It was okay... I shared the prime rib and shrimp. Salad dressing was awesome. The plate pretty good. This 12 year old palate likes everything that is not exotic in any way. So prime rib was safe.y mom had lobster tail, more like rubber tail. Way over cooked but what can you expect for $21 with a steak. Would I go back, maybe. Staff was nice.

Tasty and affordable spot. Service was quick and friendly. For the total of 28.96 we had tons of left overs between the two of us. Which is unfortunate because we are unable to reheat food at our hotel. I ordered the mushrooms Swiss burger and comes with fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and the bun was soft and toasted. My husband had the loaded potato and fried shrimp. We could have split that meal and would be full. It came with 18 shrimp! with lemon and sauce. Although the loaded baked potato wasn't as loaded as anticipated. Everything was still good. I did have a cup of creamy leek soup. It was delicious! Overall not bad considering the limited restaurant options when staying at one of the casino hotels. We would come back and share a meal.

Good joint. Straightforward American grub. Had the Cuban sammich and it was pretty good for Colorado. Having had real Cuban sandwiches in south Florida, it doesn't compare, but a good effort for Colorado. The service was good and everyone there was pleasant and friendly. I'll definitely go back.

I really like Johnny Z's but I can honestly say one is better of going to the sandwich counter…read moredownstairs or the Bistro restaurant upstairs, than "The Grill!" This was my 3rd or 4th time going. Clearly, I am a slow learner, and forgave the experience but this was the last straw. The service is ALWAYS terrible and the food is even worse. I have ordered a different dish every time and everyone them was either cold (left on the cooks counter for the waiter too long) or bland or just plain bad! Last night I ordered tacos. It took forever to even get service, or our food, and there was 6 customers in the whole place. The food came cold but before I knew it was cold, I asked for salsa (it came with none) and took forever to come back. The moment they left for salsa, I took a bite and realized the food was cold (all of it, beans, rice, tacos). I had to go search for them to come back and told them it was cold. They had it remade (took forever) and they salsa was literally stewed tomatoes from the can. This time, the plate was scalding hot and the waitress gave no warning! Now, it was hot and terrible with canned tomatoes for salsa. Ridiculous and they still charged us! I will go to Johnny Z's but will not ever again eat at the Grill!

The only thing I didn't like as much was the hashbrowns, they were just okay. I also ordered the jalapeño bread French toast (recommended by our server). They make their breads in-house and I would definitely get that again. I also tried some of my friend's banana bread and that was really delicious too. Didn't get a chance to try these since we had to get to the hot springs soon so thought it's too much food to finish in time, but they had a French toast flight and a Benedict flight, which I've never seen before. Pretty cool, I love anything where you can try multiple flavors. Overall, would reccomend this brunch spot in Idaho Springs. Would come back!

She was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I ordered the Reuben (currently $18.50) with a cup of their green chili soup ($6.00). The Reuben was outstanding--perfectly grilled with a crispy rye, flavorful corned beef, and just the right balance of Swiss, sauerkraut, and dressing. The green chili soup was rich, comforting, and packed with great Colorado flavor. My wife built her own burger and upgraded to the house salad instead of fries. Everything was fresh, cooked exactly as ordered, and delicious. This has become one of our must-stop restaurants whenever we're headed to Vail. Lots of video poker machines if that's your thing, and a cool swag shop. The rest 2/3 of the building is more your typical independent casino. I opted for the Chocolate Stout, and it was fantastic! In those early days, Dostal was a place where people came for a good pizza or sub and enjoyed a little gaming on the side. It was part of the community. Unfortunately, the place today feels like a shell of what it once was. The food has always been average, which is something many customers can accept, but poor and disrespectful service is never acceptable. I brought my concerns to the owner, Lisa, hoping they would be taken seriously, but the response was disappointing and dismissive. It's unfortunate to see a longtime local establishment lose the character it once had. Good food and good ownership go hand in hand, and when both are lacking, customers notice. After many years of supporting Dostal Alley, I won't be returning. Farewell, Dostal Alley.

After ordering they brought us some rolls, this is where we were taken back. These were nothing but store bought Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, and they weren't even freshly bought. We passed on them, the shrimp cocktail was amazing so we have them a pass on the rolls. When the actual meal was served we found both the asparagus and baked potatoes were under cooked. Those this isn't difficult items to cook, we are the potatoes and passed on the asparagus. The steaks were less then par and very dry. They bring a side of gravy with them but this alone wasn't enough to make up for the tough dry steak. I know I am from Wyoming and will challenge anyone to compete with our states top steak houses, but I think I wouldn't compare this to the worst of them. It's about like eating warm jerky, even then I think there is more moisture in jerky. Never again. The service is the only reason they received 3 stars the meal is less than desirable, the price is definitely not reflective of anything but the price.

The rest of the service was pretty much the same -- apathetic. We ordered a flight of beer for the four adults at the table.
