    The machines are either preoccupied or need repair. There are about 20 or 22 aerobics machines in total, at least 3 needs repair.

    They recently cut the place in half, renting out most of the space. People are now on top of each other. The class sizes reduced and sign up is required. If you are a few minutes late, the staff will not allow members in the class. It's usually a zoo before class with people lined up or trying to get on waitlist. Management response is to set alarms to sign up, but classes fill up within 5 seconds. Management response is it'll get better after summer, I dont know reduce crowds maybe, So should I also cancel my membership for the summer? There are limited machines, often full, broken or not performing well. I dont recommend joining this gym. In fact, I am looking for another gym. It's unfortunate because I like some of the classes and some people here are nice. Management sucks, wouldn't be surprised if it shuts dowm like the NYSC down the block.

    Let's start with the positives. The classes and instructors are GREAT! I mainly go to the gym for classes, so I can only speak to the classes. The instructors are high energy, which motivates me to get through the workout. I do appreciate having to use the app to sign up for classes to avoid overcrowding. You have to be on top of signing up though because classes fill up FAST! If you see an opening, book it right away as you can always cancel (make sure you do cancel if you cannot attend so you don't take up a spot that someone else can take). If you did not manage to book, you can show up early before class, get on the waitlist and hope that you get in. The chances are quite good as some ladies do not show up. Now for the negatives. On July 30, 2023, I was walking by the gym and figured I would go in and ask about doing a trial and how much the membership fee is. I had meant to do a trial pre-COVID, which never happened. I was told that there was a promotion (they always say this) of $34.99 (see photo attached and yes, I will be upgrading soon ha) and that the price would go up $5 dollars starting August 1,2023. The pressure was on because I did not want to be stuck with an even higher membership. I started a two-day trial immediately the next day thinking the price would go up. Long story short, I signed up, but found out yesterday that the price did NOT go up as advertised. I had asked one of the front desk ladies about a trial for a friend who is interested in joining. When I asked about the membership fee, she showed me the same exact same information that I had seen over a month again. This is false advertisement!! I asked to speak with Sneha, which she begrudgingly agreed to. I told her my concerns and her response was that corporate decides whether or not prices actually do go up, that she's just telling customers what she is told by corporate. We went back and forth because I did not feel like she was really listening to what I was saying. She kept changing the subject, asking if I have been coming to the gym, if I want to cancel my membership, etc. I said I have no issues with the classes/gym, but the fact that she said the price would go up when it did not. It was a sales tactic used to pressure customers into signing up immediately. I am all too familiar with recruitment for work, so I know this is what happened. I do not appreciate that she tried to turn it around and make it seem like my fault. She literally asked, "did anyone make you sign up?" What kind of management is this? I knew this was the type of person she is because I had trouble signing up for the app. I called the gym multiple times, spoke with each one of the ladies, but still could not get it to work. When I spoke with Sneha, she made it sound like I was doing it wrong when. However, turns out that the lady who had entered my name (she had my driver's license in hand) had entered my name as Alise under first name and entered my email wrong. I only realized this when I looked at the screen. Sneha said that I had entered the information wrong. I said, no I had not because it was entered for me. She kept insisting that it was my fault. I get it, mistakes happen, but OWN UP TO IT!! These two interactions really left a bad taste in my mouth and I had to let other potential customers know here. I read the 1-star reviews and knew what I was getting myself into, but I did it for my health knowing that the classes are great. Also worth noting, there was no drinkable water due to low pressure and only cold water for showers for at least a month. Both issues were fixed recently. Bottom line, do not believe everything that you hear and do not feel pressured to join unless you are 100% sure. Management- be honest with your customers, do not lie/gaslight, be respectful, and take ownership when mistakes are made.

On 12/9/24, I filed a complaint with the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) against Orangetheory under the franchise ownership of Vanessa after I experienced retaliation and denial of my paid sick and safe leave. I retained a lawyer, but the process was stalled to the point that meaningful legal action became extremely difficult. Between my claim and a workplace-wide investigation, the DCWP uncovered violations of ESSTA Sections 20-918, 20-914(e), 20-919(a), and 20-913: * 20-918: prohibits retaliation or interference when employees exercise their rights. * 20-914(e): governs proper accrual and calculation of paid safe/sick time. * 20-919(a): requires employers to inform employees of their rights, including required postings and pay statement transparency. * 20-913: requires employers to provide and allow the use of accrued safe/sick time. In addition to my settlement, a formal consent order was signed on 2/17/26 to ensure employees (past and present) across all 3 of Vanessa's studios receive what they are owed under the law. There was no HR department and no meaningful access to corporate oversight. Accountability ultimately came through a city investigation. I am grateful to the DCWP, my legal counsel, my wonderful support system, and the employees who were courageous enough to also share their experiences. No one should endure unlawful workplace treatment. If you are facing it, know that help exists even when the process feels overwhelming. In the end, the documented evidence spoke for itself.

    I'll try to make this short and sweet, but that's challenging given that I have so much to say…read more I've been training with Harold for the better part of 3 years, and I can't overstate the amount of progress he's helped me make on my physique. I'm leaner, stronger, and more muscular than I've ever been, and I know, based on past attempts at trying to stick to my own exercise regimen at the gym, that I would not have reached my current level of leanness and strength on my own and without his guidance and expertise. He's been in the business for years and knows his stuff, and it shows because he's been able to easily take the guesswork out of exercising for me, which allows me to focus better on my diet and the execution of the exercises themselves. He's adjusted routines for me at only.a moment's notice and at any given session if, let's say, I hurt my ankle when I was out the previous weekend or if I hurt my lower back by slouching in my chair at work. And his adjustments never compromise the intensity of the workouts, so there hasn't been a workout that I walked away from feeling like I hadn't challenged my body. I had an annoyingly persistent pain in my shoulder from an injury I sustained in the gym about a year or two prior to training with Harold (I used improper form on a dumbbell chest press), but Harold knew exactly how to offset the pain with the right workouts and stretches and now I can't even remember what the pain felt like because it's long gone.     I've been a client of Harold's for over 4 years now. I've had my share of ups and downs with…read morehealth issues. Most recently being chemo treatment and maintenance for two years. My weight has fluctuated a lot but I kept coming back to workout during that time and there was never a time when Harold gave up on me or let me give up on myself.. Weight training has changed my life. I feel amazing every time I finish a session. Harold has pushed me to keep going no matter what. He is a mentor, friend and inspiration to me. He treats everyone he meets with respect and kindness. I recommend W Fitness & Style Fit to everyone. The staff is amazing as well.
