Decent BBQ joint on North end of town... Dropped by Lucille's for the first time on Friday for a work lunch with the crew... Been meaning/wanting to try for a while, but have never got around to it. Ok experience, but there's some areas of attention needed. Pros: Friendly/quick service, outstanding brisket, excellent bbq sauces (I particularly liked the vinegar and spicy sauces), and large portions. Cons: Over-priced, average at best sides, extremely smoky in dining room, and dirty/run down restaurant. Overall our experience was good, but the smoke in the dining room was a real problem that actually had my eyes burning/watering while we were eating (it literally looked like an AARP Club Catholic Church bingo event, it was that smoky inside the restaurant), the food is stupid expensive ($35 lunch, one person), and the sides just weren't good (bland coleslaw and broccoli salad). The restaurant also needs a facelift and desperate deep clean... It had that dirty, grimy, sticky feel on the floors and tables (presumably from all the smoke in the dining room). I still consider Shigs n' Pit to be the far and wide the best BBQ in town, but Lucille's has the potential to be really good if they can make some adjustments, improvements, and clean the place up. read more

Sweet Smoked Pork Steak with BBQ sauce (Lucille's BBQ, north Lima Road) - tried something different, good value and very tasty I prefer Lucille's BBQ plate selections as I feel they give me good value. A select smoked meat with two sides for $14-16. This gives you a good all around taste of Lucille's offerings. On this trip I selected the sweet smoked pork steak with Mac & Cheese and Wilson baked beans. The entree was $14. The pork steak was a thinly cut piece of pork - maybe 3/4 inch thick. The steak definitely had hints of smokey and grilled flavors. The meat was tender, no pink color and moist. It was easily cut when warm, not as easy as it cooled. This is a large flat piece of meat so it took time to cut into pieces and savor. The BBQ sauce was sweet with no real spicy after taste kick. Glad I tried this selection. I really like the Mac & Cheese as it is very creamy and has a nice cheese flavor. The sauce has some jalapeño pieces - so expect a little heat and kick. The Wilson baked beans are also a bit spicy. There are small pieces of brisket embedded in the sweet savory BBQ bean sauce. Lucille's has a nice selection of other delicious sides for you to try. Lucille's does a nice job with smoked BBQ meats. Make the trip north to the corner of Lima and Wallen Roads. It's worth a try! read more

Two of my friends and I came in from out of town. We were looking for a good meal And we all love bbq. Lucille's knocked it out of the park. I grew up in Texas and have lived in Oklahoma, South Carolina, Missouri, Alabama, Tennesse, Kentucky and Florida and eaten a lot of bbq in many other states this place is one of the very best ever. I consider myself a BBQ connoisseur. I intentionally seek out independent BBQ joints when traveling. Lucille's was a very interesting experience, let's say. The smoke within the building was so thick you could see it and breathing was difficult for all three in my party. The dining room was not very clean, either, but we toughed it out to try the BBQ. After all that, the food was just meh. Nothing to write home about. Between the food and the atmosphere, this was our one and only visit. I was in Fort Wayne for work and as I searched for BBQ, I found Lucille's. I am a sauce-aholic and when I saw a sauce bar, Lucille's became must try. I also noticed Lucille's brewed their own sweet tea. And Lucille's put the SWEET in Sweet Tea, just like it should be. None of this Midwest very lightly sweetened barely unsweet sweet tea. Lucille's sweet tea made this Bama Boy jump for joy. One thing I didn't like when I saw Lucille's menu was $37 for a 2 meat combo. I was like no way...there has to be a work around. My work around was to order a pulled pork plate and then the Texas Two-Step taco. The Texas Two Step taco came with brisket and jalepeno sausage. It was a brilliant idea for a much cheaper cost than a meat combo plate. The pulled pork and brisket was fantastic but the jalepeno sausage really stood out to me. This might be the best sausage I've had. The pulled pork and brisket is elite and the sausage is in the best of all time category. For my sides, I picked the mac and cheese and beans. Both were phenomenal choices. The mac and cheese was creamy and made with possibly monterrey jack and smoked poblanos. The beans were spicy, tomatoey, thick, and had pieces of brisket in it. The waitress said they were famous and I know why now. There are several sauces. Here is a quick rundown - house (mild sweet tomato base), spicy (house but spicy), Texas (bold and seemed to have a cinnamon taste), mustard, and sweet and spicy (conglomeration and the hottest of all the sauces). My two favorites were the mustard and the sweet and spicy. The sweet and spicy had so much going on and I think Chipotle Tabasco was one of the ingredients. But it turned out being the one I couldn't get enough of. Lucille's is deserving of a 5-star. It is the closest to Texas BBQ I've found in the Midwest. It is not for everyone because it seems like everything is spicy here. It was all great but I loved the sweet tea and sausage the most. read more

My new favorite Barbecue in the Fort. Their flavor is always consistent which is not easy to do with barbecue. Everything is great. If I do not get a meat platter I go with their nachos, or the Memphis burger & both of those are nearly too much for one person. Great deserts and the sauce selection is perfect. read more

Burnt ends were smoked to perfection and crispy. Chicken wings had a beautiful grilled char and seasoned well. Cheddar jalapeño sausage pieces were so tender and flavorful. Mashed potatoes were garlic-y and well seasoned. Pulled pork, mac and cheese, brussel sprouts and corn bread were ok. Definitely a one and done. 2.5 stars. We live in the area and were too lazy to go down to our fave, Mission BBQ. Wish we would have. First of all, the place was super smoky, with a haze inside. Yes, I know that it is a BBQ joint, but I've been to many many and never experienced that. There were ceiling fans but none were running. It was uncomfortable. We had two BBQ platters, one pulled pork and one 1/2 chicken. Cooked decently, but no flavor in either meats. The coleslaw had too much mayo, and the Mac and Cheese was OK. But we did like the smoked garlic mashed potatoes and cheddar corn. The service was OK but kind of aggressive. She gave us our drinks and immediately wanted an order before we hardly glanced at the menu. I told her it was our first time there and was going to ask her what her favorite items were, but she just said ok and sped away before I could. Like I said, one and done. Husband wanted to come here tonight. The service was short n pleasant. Our server left as soon as she dropped the order off. I had the 2 tacos with brisket, avocado, cilantro n smoky sour cream. Uuuh I had to ask for jalapeno ranch to pour on these BLAND $4 apiece tacos. Yes, $4 apiece?!! I had a cream corn side and broccoli salad. EACH SIDE is $5 !!!! That corn was tasty, broccoli salad was just okay. Please cut that stuff up. It's hard to cut with a plastic fork. Husband liked his burnt ends.He liked the corn n mashed potatoes. Lucky him. We have purchased food here before and liked it, however today 10/17/25 was the absolute worse food we have ever gotten! So bad that it will be the last time ever we go there again! Everything, the chicken, bbq beans and coleslaw was terrible! It was what I would call "slop" food. We always get more sauce in the small containers to dip it in, as we did time also without knowing it already was swimming in it!!! The chicken had so much bbq sauce you couldn't find the chicken! The coleslaw was swimming in a mess of sauce as was the bbq beans! I don't know what has happened to this business but it is by far absolutely terrible! Came for lunch today and I will forever shout this place's name from the rooftops. Hands down the BEST BBQ in the area. Maybe even the midwest. Easily competes with those down south. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants. On this specific visit I got a bowl with brisket, beans, and mac n cheese. All bowls also come with corn bread, bbq sauce, and coleslaw. Everything is always so fresh and so good. Unfortunately, they were out of 2 of the options I originally wanted in my bowl, but they gave me 2 additional sides on top of everything in my bowl for free to make up for it. You cannot go wrong with anything you order here. All of the sauces are also phenomenal. Service here is so great. Restaurant is clean and authentic. This is a great establishment that is well run. **FORT WAYNE: BEST BBQ** I think I found a new BBQ place that overtakes Shigs in Pits as the best BBQ ribs in Fort Wayne. I have always been a fan of the other BBQ restaurant because of the BBQ sauces and smoky flavors, however, I have found that Shigs has been a bit on the dry side lately. Then during the Covid pandemic, Lucille's had a special on a full slab of ribs. I was thinking that I needed to get two in order to feed the family, but WOAH was I surprised how large a slab of ribs was. The BBQ sauce they use to marinate it is too hard to describe in words. It is so flavorful and clearly has bits of spices still stuck on it. The meat itself is juice and the smoke rings are perfect. Top it off, they have even more BBQ sauce than Shigs. My favorite was the blueberry BBQ sauce. It was finger linking good. It was so good that I went back 3 times that week. read more

Fantastic place! You can tell this is a locals place when you come in and there are no tables. When we were seated, we got amazing service from someone kind. The selection is pretty vast. I will say they were out of meats, but still had a ton to chose from. I got a bowl, which I don't know why more places don't do that. It was delicious and I especially enjoyed the corn.
