We brought our kids here for my daughter's 4th birthday and had a memorable time, especially because we chose Lucky Art Crayonology since Blippi went here too -- so we were excited! The experience is a guided creative tour with about 4 hands‑on DIY stations where kids (and adults!) can make your own markers and crayons, paint, and craft fun projects like a windmill -- and you get to take everything home! It's about $18.99 per ticket for both adults and kids over age 2 (children under 2 are free but don't get materials) and includes the guided activities. We got to make our own markers, our cute crayons, paint a windmill, and everyone walked away with pieces we really loved -- and the goodie bag was a fun bonus. Unfortunately, it was a bit tough with 4 little ones, because many of the activities actually needed adult help, so it wasn't as independent as we expected. Bathrooms and seating felt a little cramped when there were lots of kids around. Also the parking outside didn't feel very comfortable -- the lot looked a bit rough and I wasn't super at ease leaving the car for long. The whole adventure runs in timed slots (about 1.5-2 hours total) that start every hour, so you'll want to show up early to check in and sign waivers before your session begins. Overall: A fun and educational experience that gets kids hands‑on with art and creativity, and definitely special for a birthday celebration -- but be ready to help your littles through the activities, and know that the location/parking may not be the most pleasant part of the day. Decided to take our 6 year old and 1.5 year old. You basically sit in 4 different rooms, listen to the staff rep and then you create craft or crayon/marker with your child. Here's my top tips to visiting this place: 1. Make sure each kid has an adult to help them, the staff isn't hands on with the kids or assists them. 2. Mom's - do not bring a heavy bag, consider a lighter backpack or a hands free bag option because there's no area to leave your things while you're walking from room to room. 3. If you have little ones, bring easy to clean up snacks. You can purchase snack items inside too. 3. Be super careful with the ink when you make markers, they are hard to clean off. Also! You get a bag to keep all the stuff you make along with fun stuff to take home. Our son loved that part lol! Lots of parking, snacks and trinkets to buy. There are restrooms and it's spacious. Learning about their business history & how they make their markers and crayons was interesting, I enjoyed our rep tour. There's no place to hang out outside as it's a busy street and the location is not a super attractive walking area. Overall, very unique and enjoyable for the kiddos. read more

We visited last week and my son had an awesome time. We got to make crayons and markers and we did the Easter egg hunt with the Easter bunny. We only paid $3 for the egg hunt but we felt like we got a lot out of it including a 24 pack pencil case and candy. Great spot! They have reservations but you can also walk in. They have military and senior discounts too. The discounts are decent. The experience is about 1.5 hours and is guided by a staff member. The teachers / staff here are amazing and patient. Overall, I took a 3 year old & my husband- the activities were pretty cool, but not really for toddlers. There is a a lot of mechanics/ science taught & their attention span doesn't mesh well. If you have a middle aged child, this is a perfect experience because they're able to learn about the concepts and processes of machinery etc. I wouldn't go back unless my child was older. There was a crayon making experience with a molded / holiday shaped crayon (pumpkin), we made 2 markers each , also created these transparent filmed crafts that represent how colors can be blended + create a new color. After that, there was a painting experience with washable body paint & washable body crayons. After, the kids can walk on the runway , which was cool but didn't really make sense. Overall, the kids clearly don't care and just do what is fun lol. I also saw a little snack bar and gift shop available. It does suck that parents get charged full price even if they don't want to participate with craft making , but since we had to pay fully price we partook in the crafts too. I understand that they need their money, but it should at LEAST be discounted if a parent only wants to supervise / assist their kid(s). read more

Called and asked if I brought my niece and nephew on Tuesday, July 2nd what time we should expect to show up. The lovely woman on the phone told me to be there shortly before the hour because tours were typically started on the hour of shortly after. She had a lot of info about each station, and the costume area at the end. We were all very excited. Unfortunately, they are closed Tuesdays! We showed up and there was no one home. I'll leave 3 stars as a placeholder to be updated when I actually get to take my niece and nephew back. I should have done a little more digging online but when I asked about a specific day and time and found out after showing up they aren't even open that day, that was a little frustrating. We ended up at Kids Empire in the Montclair Place (used to be Montclair Plaza) near the AMC and Barns and Nobel. We will be back and when we do, I will update this. read more

My mother-in-law, myself and my two daughters under 3, (2.5 and 1.5) went this morning for the DIY experience for our first visit. Since they were under 3, my mother-in-law and myself paid for the experience since we were over 3yo and we were granted two sets of materials, which would give us access to do the experiences completely. We're there to supervise my kids but they used the materials, which was okay because we wanted them to do the experience hands on, not us. :) We were introduced to Faith to be our leader and she was so patient! She spoke to us and interacted with my kids very politely and again, calmly and I appreciated the time we got to spend with her because we didn't feel rushed nor was she annoyed if my kids did a little spill. We felt very comfortable and we all enjoyed our visit! She was fantastic! Faith had taught the history and ingredients of the crayonology. We saw how they produced markers. We made our own markers and crayons with a heart/star press. The hands on activities they have are great and it engaged my kids for the perfect amount of time before we moved onto the next step. A Hidden Gem for Family Fun! Last Sunday, we were on the hunt for a fun place to take our grandkids, ages 4 1/2 and 2 1/2. While searching for child-friendly activities, we stumbled upon a unique spot called Lucky Art Crayonology. We decided to give it a try, not knowing what to expect. I must say, it turned out to be a wonderful experience! The service was excellent, the atmosphere was full of fun, and the prices were extremely fair. The kids not only had a blast, but they also learned a lot. It's rare to find a place that balances fun and education so well. Stay away! Horrible service! You If I could give 1 star, I would. We were looking for a way to beat the heat during the heat wave that would allow our kids to have a fun time. We made a reservation for a tour time. I called ahead regarding a promotion that was listed online and at no time was I told the air conditioning was out. Once we arrived it was evident that the AC was out. At no time were we notified ahead of time the air was out otherwise my two children and my two nieces and my husband and I would have NEVER agreed to come to sweat and be uncomfortable. I am 7 months pregnant and resorted to pulling ice from my cup and putting it on our necks to try and cool off. We didn't want to disappoint the kids so we continued in the tour. I asked the tour guide if I could speak to the manager and she said she was "busy" and would get to me as soon as she could. She came to us when we were two thirds of the way through the tour. At this point I was tending to my children and asked to speak to her after. After the tour I went to the manager, Andrea Morales, who proceeded to tell me there was nothing she could do because we "finished the tour." She was very insensitive to the fact that I'm pregnant and paid over 100 dollars for my family to be sweating and uncomfortable. She told me that there is no way to speak to the owner or have an email or anything for them and that she is the ONLY way to get through to them. As a returning guest, I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the horrible service we experienced. As a registered, the temperatures in the facility were not safe for families or young children. My recommendation is if an adult, regardless of age is only accompanying a child they shouldn't be made to pay and participate. Not equivalent to an amusement park where an adult has to accompany to ride a ride. Indoor playgrounds don't charge a fee for an adult to accompany/Supervise read more

This place is a gem! We drove in today from the OC for a field trip and it was a wonderful experience. My 9-year-old who loves all things crafts and art was in heaven. She enjoyed making her own markers and crayons as well as seeing all the demos. This place is clean and organized and more importantly -they know how to interact and engage kids. We celebrated our son's 7th birthday here and it was great. The staff was super informative, helpful and friendly. The facilities were clean, well maintained and perfect for what we were looking for. Our party consisted of 9 kids + parents. They have a side section for parties that you can reserve, which was perfect. Our party package included pizza and soda and we brought additional food and drinks. They had the area decorated and we added some additional balloons and other things. All of the kids enjoyed making windmills, markers, crayons (in various shapes) and finally painting. The dress-up/costume area was definitely the "party spot" for the kids to let loose, dress up and run around. Always a fun experience here. From the intro and demonstration to how markers are made to the various crafts, to actually making (3) markers of your choice and then making your own custom crayon creation in the shape of a heart or star. My daughter is 7 and she enjoys coming every few months. Not to mention at the end we get to experiment with face/body paints & they provide stencils or you can freehand a design. Definitely worth the $19 and they give you a keychain with each paid admission that has tiny (real) crayons inside. Highly recommend to check this place out. All kids were playing and suddenly a staff came started yelling loudly at the kids to get off the stage we didn't know what happened; kids started running away from her. I'm assuming she's the manager she didn't have a name tag or anything, she didn't communicate with us if there was something wrong, Just out of nowhere she came and started yelling. I was so close on calling the cops on her it was terrifyingying for the kids. She was wearing pink top with white cardigan and light blue jeans. Do you know how many kids were there I'm sure all of parents will leave you guys bad review. At $18.99/person, I was a bit reluctant to go because it could get costly to bring the whole family. We ended up going last weekend, and I had as much fun, if not more, as my 4-year-old daughter! I got in touch with my inner playful and creative self. The kid who's been buried underneath all that adult seriousness. The place is clean and neat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We loved all the activities, especially making our own markers and crayons. They offer A-Z alphabet crayons for names/initials for free. We got some for our daughter and that was a bonus treat. This place is pretty unique. It was definitely a fun little two-hour distraction. Tabitha was awesome! She was our tour guide; super helpful, and funny! After a short little "history lesson" via video, you start your four activities. They are all instructor led but you have free rein after the initial instruction to complete each activity. They offer help if needed. Roughly 20 minutes for each activity. I had a 7 and 9 year old with me. My 9 year old son loves to draw and all things art, so he had fun. I did as well. My niece could have stayed in the costume area forever. Other than that, unless you are a super art fan, this place is good for the younger kiddos. A birthday party here would be a great! But this place is huge...there couple rooms in there, so every time we moved to the different room, they will sanitize your hand before getting in. The place also really clean. And they require mask in there. Awesome to keep it safe for everyone!!! price is reasonable ,parent also pay to get in there. Even its for the kids but parent should also do all the creativities together with kids. I wont be really mention specific things to do there but all its fun... and at the end they also selling some cools stuff all about crayons. Was in town with some time to kill, as we were picking up our new car from the ol' Carvana vending machine. Realizing when we got there: Crap! This is way too much time that needs killing, considering that our five-year-old was in the backseat with the battery on his tablet running out quickly! Luckily, Lucky Art Crayonology was right up the street from where I stopped to grab coffee, and we just so happened to get there 15 minutes before their final class of the day started. It was $18 a pop for my son and I, which actually wasn't too bad, considering the "class" went on for over an hour and a half, we got to keep all the things we made, and my son had a blast! Super cool making both markers and crayons, then painting faces and trying on costumes-- the last part was strictly for my son. They didn't have a costume that fit me. So adults beware-- there are NO costumes for you! Well, actually there are wigs and stuff. I just didn't want to put them on. So, I guess, adults beware-- there are SOME costumes for you! The staff was amazing! Super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! I want to say "GiGi" was the name of our instructor/tour guide-- she rocked! Give her a raise, Lucky Art (and if it isn't "GiGi," please give the raise to the person whose name sounds closest to that).. Can't recommend this place enough... if you have kids. And also if your kids are between say 5 and 10. Under five, they may be a bit young for some of it and over ten they may lose interest (but also I'm an not an expert on children's ages and attention spans, so don't put too much faith into that part of this review). read more

A creative place for any child and adult. You really do spend the entire 2 hours here. They start off by giving a brief history and scientific explanation of crayon. This was a bit hard to follow for my son, but we managed. Then you move from room to room. Everything is hands on. You keep everything you make and each instructor demonstrates how to make each activity. Room 1- coloring with texture Room 2- making color markers Room 3- making your own crayon. Room 4- body paint. Everyone was wearing masks. Optional of-course. With every room transitions they provided hand sanitizer. Take the family. We went during their grand opening time. So the price was around $15 each.
